I was following the proceedings of the 45th convocation ceremony of The University Of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) on twitter, and the appointment of the ooni ife as the Chancellor of the university. A thought came to mind, if Nigeria disintegrates as a result of the Biafra strive for Independence. 1. The school is located in the eastern part of Nigeria, which would be part of the Biafra republic, would the name of the school change since its no longer part of Nigeria, or say there is no country bearing Nigeria again since the disintegration of the regions that formed Nigeria. 2. If the Hausa and Yoruba people decides to continue to live together as Nigerians, what would be the fate of the University? Can the new Nigeria claim the University? What would be the fate of the graduates since their certificates bears UNN. Feel free to add other issues that may arise |

I was at the reception waiting for the doctor, and I heard a shout at the door, the cry of a young woman and her friend, screaming that their child just gave up the ghost. From her narration she's at the hospital to see a friend, not for treatment, but testified to the fact that the baby was sick and has been attended to at the general hospital before coming here. At the sound of her voice, the nurses on duty rushed out to attend to them, and without touching the baby, she said " eleyi ti lo" that is, the child is dead without carrying out any check, no pulse check, no heartbeat check, for a child that stopped breathing less than 20 seconds ago. I was taken aback by the rash conclusion on the side of the nurse, although the child is already foaming in the mouth, no first aid procedure was carried out to resuscitate the child. It's a private hospital and the doctor is yet to arrive, they have since left with the baby. |

PeterPius:The misconception about private universities by public university students is alarming, it's as if you guys think the private universities just dash out certificates based on the highest bidder. Last year's Imagine Cup hosted by Microsoft, Afe Babalola University students represented Africa after winning the regional, National and continental round. They got to the finals and came 4th out of 5 finalist. I'm proud to say they are my colleagues. My point is, Universities don't make students, students make universities, and it all bores down to individual efforts on the part of the student, no lecturer can teach you everything you need to know, it takes extra efforts which is the determining factor between the first class students and the rest. |
Afrok:Bro's I still dey primary school lol... |

praxisnetworks:That's what our student fails to understand, yes Abuad is expensive but the learning infrastructure on ground is by far one of the best in the country. If it was a federal or state school, TETFUND can intervene to rehabilitate the damaged properties, but a private institution generates it's funds internally, and it's the student that will bear the brunt when they are asked to pay for damage fees which will definitely be on the high side. |
praxisnetworks:Ok Sir, thanks for understanding ![]() |
praxisnetworks:I'm not rude madam, but I won't tolerate anybody that tries to bring down the name of my school... apologies if I sound rude, I was hurt when I read articles online about how a student was shot dead, just few hours when the incident happened. The social media didn't help matters, every blogger wanted to post something juicy to draw traffic and they used the opportunity to spoil the image of the school. Apologies again for the way I spoke earlier, have been dealing with a lot of people that are hell bent on destroying what our founder is trying to build That was how Linda Ikeji tried to damage the image of the school last year, I think I would support the social media bill that the legislative house is trying to put in place to curb social media excesses. Bloggers should get their information right before posting sensitive information. |
stamfoxx:Bro's loud it abeg, the next day they raided the hostels and arrested innocent people, some were even arrested for just laughing, but it was done due to the rave of the moment and they weren't locked up in a prison, they were released the same day, those that were locked in jail were the people that started the riot or those that were caught with stolen items inside the hostel or outside when the police came. |
bamo1big:Nothing like night class in Abuad beyond 10:30pm, no student is expected to be out after then. |
praxisnetworks:If you care to know, I'm the president computer science student association, and I would always protect the image of my school ![]() |
Sappyman:I tried to find sense in what you posted and I couldn't find any, the situation was contained immediately the security personnels came in, why close down the school when everybody has one paper to write before the semester runs out. Fact is, the situation wasn't that bad, although properties were damaged and stolen |
elegushichilling:Guy abeg na you dey yarn warfs... nobody was arrested in class, Infact the colleges were closed and it was past bed time when the chaos started, so you can't be in class then... imagine they arrested someone with Afe babalola statue's head, what is he doing with it, abi the one swimming in the pool at the crime scen too is innocent abi |
Mologi:I'm a student of the school and Afe babalola was more than just in this case... so don't be miles away and judge Wats happening here... the situation was handled well by the security agencies and those that were caught were the ones perpetrators of the crimes.... |

I would be writing my final exams come May this year, and by God's grace I would be going for my NYSC later October / November. My question is: can I defer my service year for 2 years to study for Masters. Is this a good plan and Is it feasible? |

Saudi Arabia has formed a coalition of 34 mainly Muslim countries - including powers such as Egypt and Turkey - to coordinate a fight against "terrorist organisations". Inside Story: The threat of ISIL in Saudi Arabia The alliance was announced by Mohammed bin Salman, the country's defence minister and deputy crown prince, on Tuesday. Arab countries such as Qatar and the UAE will join the coalition, as well as Middle Eastern, Asian and African states including Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia and Nigeria. Saudi Arabia's regional rival Iran and its allies Syria and Iraq were excluded from the alliance, despite the states sharing a common enemy in the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group. Bin Salman said the states would work together to target "any terrorist organisation, not just ISIL" in countries including Iraq, Syria. Libya, Egypt, and Afghanistan. Military operations would work in accordance with local laws and in cooperation with the international community, he added. In an earlier press statement issued by the Saudi Press Agency, officials said the group would be led by Saudi Arabia, which would host a "joint operations centre to coordinate" efforts. ISIL threat The United States welcomed the announcement of the anti-terrorism alliance. "We look forward to learning more about what Saudi Arabia has in mind in terms of this coalition," Defence Secretary Ashton Carter told journalists in Turkey. "But in general, it appears it is very much in line with something we've been urging for quite some time, which is greater involvement in the campaign to combat ISIL by Sunni Arab countries." Turkey said it was set to assist any time, anywhere. "Turkey is ready to contribute by all its means to all gatherings that aim to fight terrorism, no matter where or by whom they are organised," Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters in Ankara. Most of the countries in the coalition are currently involved in military operations against ISIL or have been targeted by the group. Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies have carried out air strikes against the fighters in Syria and were targeted by the group in Yemen, where they are involved in a separate war against Iran-backed Houthi rebels. In August, an ISIL suicide bomber killed 15 people, mainly special forces soldiers, at a mosque in Asir province, bordering Yemen. ISIL has also targeted Saudi Arabia's Shia minority, killing dozens in bomb attacks on mosques. Saudi authorities have carried out raids detaining hundreds of suspected ISIL members and sympathisers in response. Saudi Arabia announces new Muslim 'anti-terrorism' coalition Source: Al Jazeera |
