I goofed, the 4 reported dead may be civilians |
First it was our very own blogger, which is to show, nobody is infallible but I don't believe such. Linda can be pardoned cos she's not a professional, but news reporters are trained and before any news is broadcasted, the contents has to be reviewed by their editors. This is unpardonable ![]()

owanguy:Linda's own is pardonable, but news reporters are meant to be professionals, mistakes in reporting can have catastrophic effect, that's why they have editors to proof read before making it public |
First it was our very own blogger, I guess this is the new trend

A suicide bomber has attacked the Saudi city of Medina, close to the Prophet's Mosque, one of Islam's holiest sites, according to local media reports. The bomber detonated his device as security officers were breaking their Ramadan fast, al-Arabiya TV said. It said at least two of the officers had been killed, but there has been no official confirmation. The mosque is the burial place of the Prophet Muhammad and Medina the second-holiest city in Islam after Mecca. State-linked Sabq news and the Okaz newspaper also carried reports of the suicide attack. Earlier, at least one explosion rocked the eastern city of Qatif. Qatif is home to many minority Shia Muslims and the blast appeared to target a Shia mosque. No casualties have been reported so far. A suspected suicide bomber also died after detonating a device near the US consulate in the city of Jeddah. Two security officers were slightly injured as they tackled the man, but no-one else was hurt. Social media footage from Medina showed a vehicle on fire in a car park, with two security officers lying nearby. Other footage showed ambulances and police vehicles streaming to the area. It was not clear who was behind any of the attacks. The attacks come with the holy month of Ramadan drawing to a close and ahead of the Eid al-Fitr holiday. Kevin Durant announces he will sign with Golden State Warriors Kevin Durant is joining the Golden State Warriors. Saying he has experienced "by far the most challenging few weeks in my professional life," Durant announced Monday his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder in a post on The Players' Tribune. Durant is expected to sign a two-year, $54.3 million contract, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein. The deal would include a player option after the first year. "The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player -- as that has always steered me in the right direction," Durant wrote. "But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth. "With this in mind, I have decided that I am going to join the Golden State Warriors." After Durant signs with Golden State, two-time reigning MVP Stephen Curry will become the fourth-highest-paid player on the Warriors. Durant will be No. 1, followed by Klay Thompson ($16.6 million), Draymond Green ($15.3 million) and Curry ($12.1 million), who can become a free agent after next season. Durant's contract can be finalized July 7, when a leaguewide moratorium is lifted on signings and trades. Warriors coach Steve Kerr was in Hawaii and learned about Durant joining Golden State via The Players' Tribune website, ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported. The Warriors plan to renounce their rights to Harrison Barnes, sources told Stein, to help clear the needed salary-cap space to sign Durant. That will make Barnes an unrestricted free agent July 7. Barnes, sources told Stein, remains on course to sign with the Dallas Mavericks, who over the weekend committed to a four-year max deal with the 24-year-old worth $94.4 million no matter what happened with Durant. Thunder general manager Sam Presti expressed the team's disappointment and gratitude over Durant's departure in a statement. "Kevin made an indelible mark on the Thunder organization and the state of Oklahoma as a founding father of this franchise," Presti said. "We can't adequately articulate what he meant to the foundation of this franchise and our success. While clearly disappointing that he has chosen to move on, the core values that he helped establish only lead to us thanking him for the many tangible and intangible ways that he helped our program." The Thunder will take some time before making any roster decisions, particularly related to All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook's future, sources told ESPN's Brian Windhorst. It's too broad, so many mathematics involved. Understanding the concept of gravity and relativity alone isn't easy to grasp. But I'm on course to learning more, Infact me and my gf discuss more of cosmology than love this days, she's always looking at the stars since I explained constellation to her and gave her the app. Keep us posted on more space stuff johnydon22: |
Little do you know how you've indoctrinated me into the world of cosmology and astrophysics, I now exhaust my data on watching youtube videos on theory of relativity and related things about the universe, I even have one app that shows all the constellation of the stars based on your location, it's so cool. I owe this to you man johnydon22: |
you aren't far from the truth, we can only hope it won't get to this extent. |
Going by the global warming, I have my doubt if mankind can survive that long but given the possibility, it's going to be beautiful going by the colorful night sky depicted in the picture, new constellations and perhaps we would have new species (aliens) roaming our streets. Hope they won't colonise us ![]() johnydon22: |
@Johnydon22 please what will happen to man when milkdromeda happens? Are we going to feel the impact? Or we are just going to see new stars fill our sky? |
please enough of this... you guys are derailing the thread already... we are here to learn, enough of the I know pass you ValentineMary: |
please continue |

johnydon22:please do on time, you are a talented writer and as I said earlier, you inspired me cos I never saw myself composing such a long thread myself, the thoughts kept coming and I kept penning them down. |
If I'm a lady, you would charge me for stalking,c os I've read all your posts , and they are so fascinating. I've even recommended your page to my friends to come learn from you. Nairaland doesn't appreciate you, you should put up your blog, I can help draw traffic ![]() |
This piece was inspired by johnydon22 I had a difficult time trying to sleeping last night, which could be as a result of the clutch moment I had yesterday on the basketball court after taking the last second shot that took my team to the finals. But on the other hand, I've been having some random religious thoughts which I can't find a logical answer to. I'm a muslim by birth, but grew up the Christian way, going to church on Sundays and midweek services on weekdays, it was fun but it just wasn't my thing, the concept of trinity just wasn't making sense to me. So I decided to try Islam, cos dad was a muslim so I had it easy. I was enthusiastic about it, learning how to read the Quran in a short space of time was a tremendous feat which I admire myself about anytime I read, my mum who is a staunch christian and her church members graced my Quranic graduation then. I've had experience of the two leading religion in the world today and it's quite fascinating to contribute to discussions that cuts across the fabric of both religion. One thing I've learned so far is they both have a lot in common and quite a number of differences. One of my favourite character in both holy books is Noah, the story of the ark is one I enjoyed reading especially at sunday school. As we know, Noah was a prophet in both books and he preached to his people to serve One God, which his people decline and they were perished in the flood!. it was narrated that the whole earth was flooded and it was only Noah and his family that was saved. Studying the narration closely, he only preached to the people around him, maybe to some neighbouring towns inclusive, but he certainly didn't cover the entire surface of the earth, which I deduce from the narration. My question goes thus: isn't it unfair that God destroyed people that didn't even hear Noah's call to salvation based on the fact that he couldn't have covered the whole nook and cranny of this entire planet. Given the fact that there is no broadcast system to possible reach the whole human populace. My deduction it, it wasn't a global flood. it could have possibly been a local flood which doesn't extend to the extreme of the entire planet. The second thought is: in both holy books, the prophets are chosen from a specific race, and not from random selection, Isreal and Saudi as the case may be, with the isrealis taking most of the credit. The criteria for choosing prophets from my basic understanding is that, God raise one person to correct his people when they are going astray. Of all the thousands of prophets sent to this world, None is of African,American,Indian, or Chinese descent. The closest an African could get is Bilal, who was the first man to call the adhan (call to prayer), and anytime he's been referenced, he's always referred to as a "slave". Is it that we Africans aren't holy enough or we are not in God's radar when he's sending prophets to the world, because Africa as a continent would have been so primitive and idolatrous based on our history. So there is a good reason to have atleast one prophet of African descent. Africa today has the highest number of men of God which is quite ironic. The third thought goes thus: Islam claims to have a spirit of brotherhood, every man is equal in the sight of Allah, so we all have equal right. The common denominator among all muslims is the Kaa'ba, irrespective of your ethnic or racial difference. i.e, all muslims have equal right to the kaa'ba. From my research, on the issue of muadhin, Several families share these duties including Mulla, Shaker, Rayes, Al-Abbas, Hadrawi, Basnawi, Khouj, Marouf and Faydah. Some of these families held this position for hundreds of years; for example, the al-Abbas. (source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masjid_al-Haram) Why is it a family thing? Can't a non-arab, black, Chinese, American, Australian be appointed a muadhin, same goes for the imams. My Proposition: The next chief Imam of Masjid-al-Haram – the largest mosque of world that surrounds and manages Kabaa area – would be a non-Arab. And the team of Imams would have a proportionate representation of all ethnic groups.Till this happens, non-arab muslims should boycott and condemn Saudi Arabia government and call for ban on Hajj to oppose racism. After all, when EQUALITY – the much touted foundation of Islam – is mocked, rest of the rituals become mere jokes.(So far not one single Imam in history of Mecca mosque has been non-Arab. Shame on this blatant racial discrimination in a location that is sacred for entire Muslim Ummah.): The prophet said, anyone that propagates tribalism isn't one of us, (so I heard from a guy I had a discussion with). I'm not a racist, neither am I tribalistic. I believe in equality and justice. Because the kaa'ba is at the arab's backyard, doesnt mean they should control it's entire affairs. We all have equal right to it. I think the selection should be based on knowledge and it should be distributed. I demand that my pride be restored. I am and want to remain a proud Muslim. But I also want to be a proud Nigerian, proud Indian, a proud Pakistani, a proud African. And above all a proud human being. Religion that comes with strings of slavery is not a religion, but a farce. I love Islam. I live for Islam and can die for it. But definitely not at the expense of dignity as a human. I refuse to be treated as a slave anymore. Liberty is my first and foremost birthright that no ideology can dupe me to reliquish. O'Allah! Forgive me if I am wrong. But it were You who taught me that I have the right to smile and seek happiness simply because I am a human. You taught me even as a baby that all human beings deserve equal treatment regardless of race, gender or color. This was the first lesson you taught me even before I came to know that I am Muslim and he is Hindu, Christian, Jew, whatever. All other lessons were taught by humans. But this smile and equality was taught directly by You. I can leave everything else, but not this divine revelation of Yours. I'm a muslim and these are my random thoughts, contributions and explanations would be appreciated to clarify things, we are all in the learning process. If you are going to attack my personality or threaten me with hell, you can as well take up a debate with me, every belief must come under scrutiny, that's my stance I'm going to the court for the finals. Wish me luck ![]() |
As described by Chodon (2013) the normality of home computerization has been consistently mind boggling as a delayed consequence of its moderateness and streamlined design through PDAs, web availability/working environments and association arrange. Devices may be connected through a PC structure to permit control by a PC, and may permit remote access from the web. Through the joining of data improvements with the home security, structures can go on consolidated which acknowledges comfort, imperativeness sufficiency and wellbeing advantage. |

I was following the proceedings of the 45th convocation ceremony of The University Of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) on twitter, and the appointment of the ooni ife as the Chancellor of the university. A thought came to mind, if Nigeria disintegrates as a result of the Biafra strive for Independence. 1. The school is located in the eastern part of Nigeria, which would be part of the Biafra republic, would the name of the school change since its no longer part of Nigeria, or say there is no country bearing Nigeria again since the disintegration of the regions that formed Nigeria. 2. If the Hausa and Yoruba people decides to continue to live together as Nigerians, what would be the fate of the University? Can the new Nigeria claim the University? What would be the fate of the graduates since their certificates bears UNN. Feel free to add other issues that may arise |
