Field Maintenance Engineer

Requirements:
OND/HND/University Degree on Computer Science/Engineering, Elect/Elect or other related courses.
Basic computer literacy.
Must be able to write and file reports on a PC.
Be able to inspect contractors work and ensure they follow laid down process.
Be able to use email.
Basic knowledge of networks.
Be able to do basic network installation work, e.g. terminating and LAN cable. Connect a PC to a network point for remote access.
Preferable have some CCTV knowledge, maintenance or installation of it.
Basic understanding from AC and DC power.
Must be able to work on heights, not be afraid of heights.
Must be able to use basic tools and basic electrical tools.
Must be able to interact with customer on a professional manner.
Be able to supply methods of fixing maintenance issues at site.
Work at an acceptable level of QA standard.
Must understand the basic principles of H&S.
Must be able to do basic handyman work.
Must be able to work flexible times. e.g. on weekends and after hours.

They can't convert EH automatically to SS5 upwards, it just doesn't make sense. If that is done, that means the contract staff will automatically become the bosses of those who are on SS4 or SS5. Let's hope for the best.

Exactly the point, positions have been identified under cadre SS2 & SS3 so it will be strange to appoint contract/support staff who are just attaching to be full staff and bosses to SS4 & SS5.

It will indeed be logical to hire contract staff into SS5 or SS6 as the case may be.

Let us wait till 1 April before any argument on EH. What is delaying EH is management waiting for the GTS that will accept to accept and know the amount of money that will be available for the employment of the next people (EH).

From my years of experience I haven't seen where they converted a cntract staff above the first level of graduate/professional staff cadre.

It will be surprising to hear that a contract staff now in NNPC was converted to SS4 or SS3. The usual thing is to convert them to SS6, which is the base of professional staff (GTs)

Well probably I don't know much. Someone can help me understand why we think this contract staff is a threat to EH. I don't think so.

Last last that's how it gonna be...thereby cutting some slots out again...I told someone today when he started telling me that they cancelled EH to accommodate this conversion thingy that there's no way GTs will be taken and EH discarded like that after both started the process,highest they will mix it...

Pls let's keep sharing these vital info...who knows the power play might just be in our favour.

Also, I don't think majority of the contract staff have the requirement (competence/experience) to fit into these EH positions. Time will tell...we pray to be favoured.

If GT/EH are to resume together which is May 4, then EH will definitely get APL before then.
EH also needs about a month to notify present employer so EH would probably get
the APL this march.

Obviously the EHs are not in the picture. When I said all EH should brainstorm on what we need to do, e be like say na me need the job pass. Well, make we sit down dey look.

To the GTs that missed out, keep pushing, pick Masters form, this will give u advantage to apply for EH next time if age is against u for GT.

NNPC job is desirable but not getting it, is not the end of the world.

I remembered i mentioned in this group that there are people who will recieve success notifications without knowing anybody at the towers especially when someone here was saying all the slots have been sold. Abeg, If you have gotten success notification without knowing anyone but GOD Almighty, please indicate and testify to proof the naysayers wrong.

I also mentioned the recruitment for GTs and EHs have not been cancelled as against the rumour peddlers of recruitment cancellation. Thank God for everything.

HMO services in Nigeria are beginning to be so deceptive. With plans developed not to cater for the needs of unsuspecting company/ organisation's staff.

They come up with a very long list ailments they can care for but going with the term "Non-chronic" this or that so when it's time to diagnose and treat you'll hear "I'm sorry we don't cover that" despite the huge amount collected(..in millions of NGN). There are many hidden details....

Abeg my people which HMO do you use and what are their pros & cons? Nigerians need to be aware, the fraud is ENOUGH.

Ladies and Gentlemen,I have read through your posts with keen interest.The insults and the bashing of people with sources and those without as to which info is credible is funny and ridiculous.
I just want to help a little bit with information that is available to me to help those in dire need of it.
I am a Managerial candidate and so I wasn't interviewed with most of you here.
Last week Thursday after the Presidential broadcast, the Minister of Petroleum ordered the NNPC Recruitment list as it was to be published. It was to be published in PUNCH newspaper.
There was pandemonium in Abuja as all the politicians and new management who have been lobbying for name replacements since Kyari took over would've been left without their candidates being put in the list.Even the Minister of Labour went to protest that the composition of the list didn't show Federal character as it was lopsided towards the West and not evenly spread.He was then educated that while Federal character may have a role in the invitation for interviews, only competence and merit are considered after passing the interview. He soft-pedalled but the other powerful politicians made so much noise that the Minister suspended the order to publish on Thursday,3rd October 2019 and gave them 5 working days to sort whatever irregularities they claimed was in the list before he went to South Africa for his 3-day visit. He is back now and will expect their report before it gets published. If he stays true to his first order,then this list will likely be out in the national dailies before emails and texts are even sent out.
I know kids of nowadays will complain about reading long write-ups. It is the bane of our country right now.
No insults please,I could have stayed in my corner just to read and watch misinformation fly all around.At our managerial level of application, our channels of communication with the NNPC are quite different. You may choose to believe or not.Have a great week, my people.

I just got a message from my source some 30mins ago or 1hr thereabout that the recruitment list has been approved by FCC and the APL of successful candidates is on its way to Kaduna for printing.

Fasten your seatbelt for impact. APL to be dropped latest 12th october.

Hi guys, this thread has been my source of relief throughout this process. As such i think i owe u guys to share this.....I just received a call from a concerned fella who knew about my nnpc application. She gave me an update and told me what was causing all the delay. the recruitment team did its own part and final list was made. There is a little friction between the new management and HR.
I think i have said enough. My message here is (we should all pray things work out in our favour. there is hope. Keep praying and be patient.)

This might be a long read

The news I got from here made me get through to some sauce within the system who informed me clearly that the issues with the contact staff wanting to be confirmed as a regular staff has been an issue that the Corporation has been face with for several years and the Contract Staff Union seeing that Mele Kyari (the new GMD) is a gentleman and a diplomatic being unlike Dr Maikanti Baru who always threaten them that if they don't maintain their lane they will all be laid off and new set of workers will be recruited in their place, tried everything within their means to arm-twist Kyari to accede to their request of having many of them transfered/confirmed as regular staff during this mass recruitment.

The directive the contract staffs were given by NNPC during the days of Baru was that they should all apply during the recruitment and if they are successful, they will be employed as regular staffs, it is based on that representation that they are demanding for substantial slots from this recruitment.


My sauce informed me that Kyari is trying to pacify all parties in this recruitment and has promised that successful candidates amongst the contract staffs will be absorbed into the system but the Union want more than that since a low quantity of them made it to the oral interview stage. That seems to be the loggerheads at the moment.


On further probing, the sauce informed me that the contract staff issues should not stop the process as it is already in the finishing stage and APL should drop as soon as possible. He didn't give me a timeline though. He only maintained that the issues of contract staff happened during their time as applicant and NNPC absorbed the few amongst them that it can absorb even with their agitations.


So please take a chill pill. Don't let the contract staff news give you problem.

The true holders of Appointment letters are the one paying NNPC for the Job.

Many will almost run mad when APL start dropping, that day you will regret been a Nigerian.
Don't trust the system, it's by connection and how
much you can buy the slot. Nobody is interested in your big grammars and first class.
Nairaland warriors it's high time you divert your energy and look for a very strong link instead of you guys wasting your time here . many that will be appointed are not on nairaland..


Forget about the thousands of people NNPC is about to employ.. All the slot can be sold out under a week or two..don't let them raise your hope by letting you guys sees it as a mass recruitment. No matter the high figure it cannot be enough for those ready to buy the slots.. Any recruitment process been delayed like this means buying and selling is yet to be completed..

Easymoneysniper’s sauce remains valid. Like he said, the only reason APL didn’t come today is because Tf has not been concluded and they are striving to conclude it so APL can show. To this effect, we should expect Tf everyday. Any pause without APL leads to a contradiction thereby easymoneys sauce might have missed it.
Anyway, I set my mind for end of September. I know it’s a goal then.

There have been cold reactions towards guys who have pushed one update or the other from their various sources but I think should be appreciated (instead get yours). We are hanging on here because of these updates and also to prepare our minds for any eventuality.

For me, with the few updates spilled so far it's clear notification of successful candidates is VERY close. Don't expect any person to state the exact day(I'm sure the GMD may have a timeline for this release but certainly cannot state exact date for sure).

So guys let's follow thread and enjoy it as time permits.

Overhaul by simply reshuffling the cards internally within the organisation? NNPC has never really been up there compared to her peers like Saudi Aramco, Petronas and Petrobas. It is generally perceived to be a very inefficient and wasteful organization, mainly due to the fact that is a fully Nigerian govt driven organization with little or no goals or target to attain. No wonder, the refineries have been comatose for years and no one has lost his/her job over that. Unlike private organizations, there is little emphasis on grooming leadership /management staff based on merit or appraisal. It will surprise you that most correspondences / memos within NNPC are still via paper rather than electronic! How archaic can that be?

It is difficult, if not impossible to produce a well groomed 21st century manager in such an environment that can turn around the fortunes of any NNPC subsidiary. NNPC system makes it hard to grow well groomed and technical managers.

The only way NNPC can truly restructure for enhanced performance is to be open to genuine structural re-organization. More importantly, NNPC must be ready to hire senior management staff from outside the organization who have years of experience working in performance driven corporations. Such people should be given the free hand to inject new ideas and reinvigorate the team spirit. Anything such is nepotism, politics or tribalism under the guise of merit.

I can aasure you that nothing will change, with the current NNPC structure backed by law. It's all steam but no movement.

I was surprised this piece of news was not thoroughly analysed here yesterday despite someone dropping it here.

I think Mele Kyari is living up to his reputation as Mr. Transparency. The very day he was announced, I spoke with a colleague that had been in meetings with him before and he confirmed he is a very good yet humble man (with no airs around him). The press also wrote positive things about him. I remember The Cable writing about his antecenents as a champion of transparency. I remember the DG of NEITI, who is not knowm for frivolity, also applauding the appointment.

It appears the guy truly means business. This reorganization is a welcome development. NPDC needs a total overhaul. Starting the restructuring with NPDC is a good idea by the GMD.

Relating to this recruitment, I think it could be positive or negative news.

The GMD could give a directive as "hold on, let's finish this internal reorganization first so we can re-assess our manpower need before bringing in more employees". A potential source of delay. Keyword: potential.

But generally, that action and other information contained in that piece of news reinforce the fact that NNPC is very keen at bringing new people onboard and the current leadership is also sold to the idea.
