Politics / 6 Lessons From Germany’s Handling Of The Senator Ekweremmadu ‘protest’ by Talkaboutit(f): 2:36pm On Aug 21, 2019
Last week, videos emerged of some Nigerians allegedly beating distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremmadu, for not addressing the killing of his constituents by alleged herdsmen.

In case you missed it, catch up here. https://talkaboutmag.com/the-trials-of-brother-ekweremmadu-what-went-wrong/

As the video became viral, opinions flew, with some Nigerians disparaging the group fingered for this incidence, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). This group was designated a terror group in Nigeria, but that’s about that.

Whether the IPOB beat the Senator or a group of angry Nigerians did, the issue on ground is that the German Police called in on Channels Television to state that there will be no investigations on the matter since it is designated a protest, which is well within human rights.

“There was nothing much about this senator from Nigeria that came. About 30 persons demonstrated against him and the police were called and they calmed the situation down and the senator drove away in his car,” said the spokesman of the Landespolizie in Nuremberg.

Now, some Nigerians are amazed, shocked and some, disappointed because, in such a typical situation on Nigerian soil, at least 5 people would have been in their own pool of blood.

Germany is not a perfect society, but is there anything Nigeria/Nigerians could learn from their handling of this ‘protest’, re-Ekweremmadu?

Yes, Human Deadass Rights!
As funny as it is, maybe Nigeria needs to learn basic human rights from Germany. Seems after Hitler’s escapades, the European country took all-night classes on Human Rights in Harvard.

But Nigeria?

Three years of civil war, many years of military rule, various coups and counter-coups and the country still likely treat humans worse than cows? In a democratic setting, a group whose mode of protest has been adjudged peaceful is cracked down upon, with live bullets.

Peep the treatment of the Shiites and the #RevolutionNow protest by Sowore, a former Presidential aspirant. Oh, yes, Sowore is still in prison for calling for a protest.

Do you think Nigeria should learn basic human rights from Germany? of course yes. How soon? Yesterday, please.

2. Right to Assembly is a Human Right Too

Yesterday, Femi Falana SAN, alongside the Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, was locked out of a venue where they were slated to speak on insecurity in the country. Don’t Nigerians have a right to assemble and even protest if need be?

Two days ago, 1.7m people in Hong Kong marched peacefully for democracy. Though there has been a series of violent encounters with the police in the past, they were not stopped from holding peaceful protests.

But it seems like there is a ban on peaceful protests in Nigeria, except maybe you are pro-government. Nigerians assembled at Nuremberg and protested bad leadership, according to the German Police and yes, there will be no investigations or arrests because the right to assembly is human right too.

That is indeed something to learn from Germany, No?

3. Knowing Your Right is Not Enough

If you watched the video, you would hear one of the protesters saying, “I am not afraid of the Police.” While this is as much a show of defiance, as it is a show of confidence in the application of the rule of law, it would not likely fly in Nigeria.

Imagine heckling a top shot in Nigeria with a SARS van packed and you’re shouting, “I am not afraid of the police.” You will be lucky to complete the sentence before being slammed to the floor.

It is not enough to know your right in Nigeria if the rule of law and the principles of democracy are selectively applied. Maybe Nigeria can learn rule of law from Germany?

4. Fighting for What You Believe In

“They are killing your people and you are here eating yam,” said the narrator who is clearly agitated at the distinguished Senator for eating yam. Honestly, if you do not want people eating yam, speak out.

In a democracy, you are free to protest someone’s choice of yam over bread. You are also free to protest the President’s choice of suit color, re-Obama’s tan suit saga.

Lesson?

If a Senator is not working hard enough, even if he/she is the best amongst all others, protest!

5. Less Bureaucracy, Quick Response

When there is a communication gap, there is likely confusion. On so many situations when the Nigerian police seemingly commit atrocities against unarmed citizens, people wait for an official Police statement usually, to no avail.

However, the PRO of the German police was on Channels Television just about 2 days after the ‘protest’ to diffuse the tension. Now, the PRO has cleared the air, people who were already flying propaganda about the arrest of the protesters, are left possibly jobless.

The Nigerian government, its military, police and other agencies must learn effective communication skills from ‘West Germany’.

6. Finally, the Police was there to Protect

Deutschland Kurden Demonstration in Köln
In the viral video, you would see a police van blaring its sirene as the protesters raised voices against the pro-Ekweremmadu ‘New Yam Eaters’. As obtainable in every democratic setting, the work of the police is to protect citizens during protests.

Even when some people get violent, the police has protest gears for a reason. In worse case scenarios, the police usually use rubber bullets to disperse the protests. Is this the case for the Nigerian Police? Have they been able to protect protesters?

Politics / The Trials Of Brother Ekweremmadu, What Went Wrong? by Talkaboutit(f): 2:30pm On Aug 19, 2019
Remember a trending video during the Christchurch New Zealand terrorist attack, when a teenager egged a Far-Right Australian Senator? Perhaps some Nigerians got the memo and now a Nigerian Senator may write a book in the near future titled, “the Trials of Brother Ekweremmadu.”

A video has emerged of Prof Ike Ekweremmadu’s supposed assault in Germany. As a Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial Zone, his attempt to celebrate the New Yam festival, ended with the distinguished Senator being heckled and beating.

Various perspectives have emerged regarding the intentions of the ‘beaters’, one of which was a protest of the resurgence of killing in Ekweremmadu’s Awgu hometown by herdsmen. Suspected herdsmen who were arrested and paraded last week confessed to killing a Reverend Father and kidnapping a traditional ruler in Awgu.

In the video, the narrator is heard shouting, “They are killing your people and raping your women and you are eating new yam.” Well, if the Senator knew that Yam was a forbidden food for a person whose people are killed, maybe he would opt for bread, Nah?

TV/Movies / Interview With A John Wick Survivor. by Talkaboutit(f): 5:18pm On Aug 14, 2019
We’ve always seen lots guys get beat up in movies by this John Wick, and we imagine what happens next. Now, we know better. Some of those men end up in therapy (psycho or physic, depending on how hard they were dealt with), some end up migrating to China as a result of fear, or as in the case of the lucky guard, they cry uncontrollably.

Recently, one of the guards who luckily escaped Mr. Wick’s clutches told us how the man effortlessly took down twenty-five of his colleagues.

This got us thinking that there is probably a worldwide network of assassins, with members lodged in continental hotels. Hmm… In which Nigerian hotel could John Wick be? Oriental hotel? 1004? So many questions running through our minds, but one thing is for sure, we can’t wait to see chapter 4 of the movie, John Wick.

The Federal Government has said that there will be a partial closure of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in order to bring about finishing the road project before Christmas. Construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, will begin the rehabilitation of the lanes back to Lagos from the 3rd of August.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) enjoined the general public, especially road users to use alternative routes like the Epe/Ajah, Ijebu – Ode, Lagos – Ota, Itori – Abeokuta and Ikorodu – Sagamu as alternative routes to access Lagos. In a statement, Florence Okpe, the agency’s route commander and public education officer, said the construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, will begin the rehabilitation of the lanes back to Lagos from August 3.

He said the Lagos-inbound traffic will be diverted to the second lane, as he urged motorists to drive within the speed limit of 50km per hour. “This is to provide the attention of the open public, that in view of the ongoing road rehab work on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, the building, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC has notified the Corps of extension of rehabilitation work on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway from around Berger to KARA bridge (otherwise known as Ogun river link, around the Kara cows market) on the Lagos-Ibadan part of the Expressway, addressing 1 ) 4 kilometers starting from Saturday 3rd of August 2019.

There has been a lot of traffic jams and road accidents over the past few months, so this rehabilitation is a huge relief for people who ply this route regularly. Dreading the long drive through the alternative routes? Why not listen to a long playlist or an insightful podcast?

Phones / Next Gen Apple Iphones Will Reportedly Support 5G by Talkaboutit(f): 3:28pm On Aug 01, 2019
As networks begin to roll out 5G networks around the world, It looks like Apple is already taking big steps the growing future trend. Apple has been widely expected to roll out a 5G-compatible phone in 2020, and now, a new report suggests that all three of the company’s phones will support 5G.

Last month, noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that next year’s 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch iPhone models would support 5G, while a third, a cheaper 6.1-inch iPhone XR successor would only access LTE networks. Kuo has now issued a new report, and MacRumors says that he has revised that prediction: All three iPhone models will support 5G. He notes that “Apple has more resource for developing the 5G iPhone after the acquisition of Intel baseband business,” and that the price of Android 5G phones will drop.

However, while the report comes just days after Apple announced that it was acquiring a “majority” of Intel’s modem business for $1 billion, MacRumors says that the company isn’t quite ready to switch away from Qualcomm, and that it won’t likely be until 2021 before it can use its own version.

Kuo notes that he expects most Android phones will support the sub-6GHz version of 5G, but not the mmWave version, which offers more speed. “The key is that consumers will think that 5G is the necessary function in 2H20,” he writes. “Therefore, iPhone models which will be sold at higher prices have to support 5G for winning more subsidies from mobile operators and consumers’ purchase intention.” Essentially, Apple is betting that its customers will want to have the ability to take advantage of the wide range of 5G networks and that they’ll pay a bit more for it.

The future looks fast!

Travel / Air Peace Goes Under The Spotlight by Talkaboutit(f): 10:49am On Jul 30, 2019
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) says it has put Air Peace and its fleet of aircraft under the spotlight with a view to ensuring the airline is in compliance with extant Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations.

The NCAA said on Sunday that the audit was to also mitigate the reoccurrence of the July 23, 2019 incident involving the airline’s aircraft on the runway of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The regulatory agency in a statement signed by its General Manager, Public Relations, Mr Sam Adurogboye, said, “This technical audit was not limited to this recent incident. The airline operational, technical and safety performance in the last 12 months were also scrutinised.“It revealed that all the operational aircraft on the fleet of Air Peace Limited are airworthy. This is to assure the flying public that all the aircraft on the fleet of NCAA authorised Air Operators Certificate holders operating in Nigeria are airworthy.”

The NCAA said it would continue to ensure that only airworthy aircraft are permitted to operate in the country. On Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at about 10.28 am an Air Peace Boeing 737-300 aircraft with registration number 5N- BQO had an incident on landing at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

According to the NCAA, its sister agency, the Accident Investigation Bureau is currently investigating the incident to determine the immediate and remote causes as required by international standards stipulated in the International Civil Aviation Organisation Annex 13.

Hopefully, this would be the last incident we see involving Air Peace.

TV/Movies / Top Gun: Maverick, Everything There Is To Know by Talkaboutit(f): 12:14pm On Jul 23, 2019
After 25 years, Top Gun: Maverick,” the long-awaited sequel to the 1986 hit movie that helped solidify star Tom Cruise’s heartthrob appeal, is ready to fly.
Maverick currently scheduled to hit our theatres by June 2020. This is quite an age to wait, so we can only expect a weekend of breathless, repeated viewings the first, official trailer for the movie.

Filming
You are going to get smacked in the back of your head! Well, not by your mama. The producers of the Maverick intend to give their star action-loving audiences an ‘in-the-cockpit experience’ by using-tech filmmaking techniques that has been labelled nothing short of amazing.

In a May 2019 interview with Collider, actor Jon Hamm had this to say “They’re using some technology on this that has never before seen,” said Hamm. “We’re shooting the movie in, I think, 6K. So it’s incredibly hi-def. The aerial footage is mind-blowing. And it’s mostly practical. There’s not a lot of CG. Those guys are really up in planes and getting thrown around in multiple Gs.”

Much to our pleasure, the two big names from the original are reprising their roles for maverick. The film brings back Tom Cruise as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. He’ll be joined by Val Kilmer, reprising his role as Maverick’s rival, Tom “Iceman” Kazansky. No word on if they will playing upon the truce that characterised the last scenes of the original Top Gun or if we should expect bigger rivalry fireworks between the two ace pilots.

There are some rumours that Maverick’s plot will explore the relationship between human pilots and unmanned drones. Which makes sense given the evolving structure of America’s modern military. The title Top Gun: Maverick, likely points to human pilots hero over Artificial Intelligence-powered drones.

Top Gun: Maverick Facts
– Title: Top Gun: Maverick
– Release date: June 26, 2020
– Cast: Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm
– Director: Joseph Kosinski

TV/Movies / BBN Scam Eviction Sends Tacha And Seyi To A Secret Room by Talkaboutit(f): 10:17am On Jul 23, 2019
The BBN show seems to be getting hotter and tongues are quavering and wagging from all that pepper. It seems the evictions have brought the heat that the audience needed. The housemates Frodd, Mike, Tacha and seyi were all up for eviction and audiences did all they could to save their beloved housemates.

With all heart-wrenching moments that the selected housemates faced, Ebuka announced the possibility of a fake and a real eviction which eventually sent Tuoyo home. Tuoyo though? Quite a number of people were displeased with this choice since according to them, Tuoyo was the real life of the parties the audience have been known to complain about. But that did not get him enough votes to stay. In fact, the votes he got were significantly lower than the rest; not enough spice maybe?

Taking a look at the voting graph, it is quite obvious who the audience is rooting for. The BBN show is known for a lot of drama and the truth still remains that the most dramatic housemate remains in the house no matter how problematic. This seems to be the major reason why the audience voted massively for Tacha. However, biggie shocked the BBN housemates when he decided to evict Tacha and Seyi, giving the highest voted housemates a taste of the secret room; a room with all that entertainment, with that tiny bed for two and a room totally unknown to the rest of the housemates. Basically, while some housemates are still trying to wrap their heads around the evictions of Tacha and Seyi (and some secretly celebrating it), the duo is having a swell time watching them.

Education / OAU Generates It’s Own Electricity. First Nigerian University To Do This. by Talkaboutit(f): 5:55pm On Jul 19, 2019
A Nigerian university with its own power source. What is this a sci-fi movie? No, it’s 2019 and we’ve got the power. The Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU Generates its own electricity and they are looking forward to the benefits.

The Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University announced this at a conference. He spoke about the plans for how OAU generates its own electricity.

“One of the key challenges we have is an unstable supply of energy. In fact, it is so erratic that you cannot plan any meaningful research. Luckily now, we are working with Rural Electrification Agency to provide for us a gas-powered turbine that will generate 8.0 megawatts of electricity.”

The energy needed for the university is roughly 6 megawatts. Although once OAU generates it’s own electricity with turbines it will be up to 8.03 megawatts. The excess energy powered up will be used by neighbouring communities. It’s a win for everyone all around.

However, the most surprising news of all is the revelation of the finish time. This project which started 2017, was due to be completed 2 years after. The October finish is way ahead of schedule. A phrase we all know isn’t often used in these parts.

This is a wonderful achievement. Better research conditions for their science facilities. Better living conditions for the students and staff. Let’s hope more universities follow suit. Whether the government can pick up a few tips from this, is another story. For more on who’s criticizing the government view here.

Politics / The Billionaire Governor Of Oyo State – Seyi Makinde Declares Assets. by Talkaboutit(f): 3:45pm On Jul 16, 2019
Nigerian Governors are best known for covering up their assets, so a headline stating Seyi Makinde declares assets certainly stands out. The young looking, suave Governor of Oyo Seyi Makinde declares assets and recently has been imploring other governors to do the same. Many reactions are trolling this action, most of them are positive.

The dollar signs, Naira signs and even Rands pouring out of the revelations are quite an eye-opener.

He is the first high ranking public official to reveal his assets amongst the new batch of the last general election and he has combined cash and asset value of a whopping N48 billion.

Let’s get our magnifying glass and take a closer look, shall we?

His bank balance stands at N234, 742,296.01

Properties, including the developed and undeveloped worth N2, 624,800,500.

Let’s leave Nigeria and fly to SA. In South African, the governor declared buildings and household items worth 4,457,554 South African Rands.

Now let’s talk houses. This governor wouldn’t even be eligible for MTV Cribs. The MTV crew wouldn’t know where to start from. The houses declared by the Governor include nine buildings in Nigeria, two in the United States and one in South Africa.

Of course, there has been an uproar. Thanks to our non-booming economy and Nigeria becoming the poverty capital of the world last year, you can imagine there are a lot of people, with less than one house who are swamped by all these rand signs.

The current value of Makinde’s companies stands at N48, 150,736,889, including 33,730,000 units of shares. Looking at this and taking a look at the lack of zeros in your bank account can make any sane person want to uproar.

He dutifully declared his assets but it is however not compulsory to make the details of one’s asset public. This is a refreshing move hopefully to inspire others. So we say to other Nigerian Governors and Politicians. Share your assets, make them public so we can track. Be like Seyi Makinde.

Politics / Is There A Solution To The Zakzaky Saga by Talkaboutit(f): 4:45pm On Jul 10, 2019
The Zakzaky saga continues and as usual, violence ensues. Shi’ites, invaded the National Assembly on Tuesday 9th, as part of their continued protests on the incarceration of their leader, Ibrahim Zakzaky. An incident that sadly resulted in 2 deaths.

The Shiite movement, a small but active sect in the Nigerian Muslim community, has come under national scrutiny for their approach to their beliefs and their approach to their laws and ways of life. Although the sect is adjudged as controversial by most in the public space, the government’s handling of the situation is being heavily criticised. An instance of the alleged high-handedness by the Government is the severe crackdown on the sect at its headquarters in 2015, leading to the killing of hundreds of Shiites and ultimately, the forceful detention of their Zakzaky. This is the genesis of the contest of will between the Nigerian Shiite people and the Nigerian government.

Reports state that the protest this past Tuesday started out peaceful but turned chaotic with conflicting reports who attacked first. The Shites, or the Police?

This latest incident raises more questions. How long will the government ignore the court orders on the Shiite Leader El Zakzaky? How long will the sect continue to protests on the streets of Abuja and can we stop this from becoming another insecurity crises.

This is the trending food scam of the moment as the Lagos State Government located and confiscated another truckload of contaminated ponmo a few days ago. Earlier this year about 30 ton was also discovered and seized, but the culprits themselves have not been found.

This contaminated cowhide going about town is actually laced with all kinds of chemicals to keep it preserved for leather use, to make things like our bags and shoes. However, some ponmo criminals are repurposing these and getting them sold in markets.

Look twice at what’s in your soup these days, because you might as well be putting your shoe in your mouth.

TV/Movies / Top 5 Shows Trending On Netflix This July by Talkaboutit(f): 10:33am On Jul 09, 2019
There has been a lot of rain this rainy season, the type that makes you want to just huddle up in bed and watch Netflix all day. Some have even cracked jokes that we should all get ready for the second coming of Noah’s Ark. if we were all to get crammed into Noah’s Ark there are 2 very important questions:
Is there Wifi?
What can we watch on Netflix while we wait for the earth to dry back?
Should the situation occur, here are the top 5 Netflix shows you should be watching right now this July, that will get you through this wet period and potentially through a long stay on Noah’s Ark.

Stranger Things Season 3

The stranger things kids are back, and can you believe they are now teenagers dealing with the same things all teenagers go through young love, friendships, along with aliens from an unknown dimension. The superpowers of Eleven and time travel.

Black Mirror Season 5

This time the mysteriously apt show is back with only 3 episodes. Don’t scream it’s not that bad. Some of us seasoned TV show watchers are learning to get used shortened season lists after Game Of Thrones only dealt us 6 measly episodes. Black Mirror has taken a page from that book but is featuring big stars such as Anthony Mackie and Miley Cyrus.

Take a trip down the twisted world of Black Mirror one more time, and you’ll be sure to get some heated conversation started from their content.

When they see Us

Everyone should see this. Based on the true story of the central park 5, 5 coloured young teenagers who were accused of the assault and rape of Trisha Meili, a 28-year-old, white woman who was jogging in Central Park, New York 1989. This is one that you’ll need a tissue box nearby. The racial tensions and controversy around how the case was handled will stir up a lot of emotions.

Orange is the New Black

The final season is here and if you’ve been along for the ride you might as well watch to find out how it all ends. Watchers have complained that story which started out with a strong and fun path seems to have lost its plot along the way. Taylor finally gets out of jail, watch and see how prison has changed her.

Dead To Me

Two unlikely friends meet and bond in a death Therapy group over the death of their spouses. One handles the death by being positive but the other finds comfort in her dark lonesome ways of dealing with it. A major plot twist reveals itself as the show goes on to reveal one of the friends may have contributed to one of these deaths. But how? Watch to find out.

Politics / The Ruga Settlement, Causing A Lot Of Unsettlement. by Talkaboutit(f): 3:44pm On Jul 02, 2019
There have been many reactions to the controversies surrounding the so-called “voluntary” establishment of the Ruga settlement for Fulani herdsmen set to take off in 12 states.

This project is meant to serve anyone involved in animal husbandry but mainly pose as a solution for the Fulani Herdsmen issue with their regional clashes with farmers.

One of the main points of backlash to this issue is that Nigeria is a country plagued with several issues, why is this one a focus of the Presidency and more importantly why is this a settlement plan created in favour of the herdsmen. Throughout Buhari’s first term the violence caused by the Fulani herdsmen killing thousands of Nigerian’s was never punished by the government. No arrests and no form of public justice ever came forth.

Other’s argue that this Ruga settlement seems more like a political ploy of Fulani’s getting new land across the country. Though the plan is optional there seem to be no real benefits laid out for the opposing parties involved.

Fulanis as people are nomadic by nature. A key issue being left unaddressed is what is to stop them from continually moving across the nation. Taking more and more land and expanding their stronghold.

Well, there are many voices that are determined not to make this happen. The Benue state house of assembly has already completely rejected the suggested plan, Titus Uba, speaker of the Benue house of assembly declared that “the Benue state House of Assembly rejects the move for Fulani Ruga settlement in Benue state and instead of support the full implementation of open grazing prohibitive and ranches establishment law 2017”

Amidst all the arguments about the ruga settlement, there have also been suggestions, one of which is to create a way of life for the Fulani’s in the North where they are historically indigenous to. As said plainly by Mr Nicholas Ossai, a House Representative for Delta State “ The Fulani — are indigenous to these areas but they are not indigenous to the South. They should be able to localise the people based on their way of life rather than spreading it to all parts of the country.”

As for now, the Ruga settlement is already laced with these glaring issues that may unfold as the test goes on for this system in 12 states (if they accept them) this will be the marker of how far this settlement will go.

TV/Movies / Anna: The Perfect, Spicy Hot Movie Character Girlfriend For John Wick by Talkaboutit(f): 4:35pm On Jun 29, 2019
This movie packs plenty of action and hot sauce!

ANNA stars Sasha Luss and contains a very satisfying amount of strong violence, a manageable amount of filthy language and nudity.
[NO SPOILERS] For what seems to be a quiet debut on the movie scene, ANNA the movie, has turned out to be the hottest must-watch movie for the next 2 weeks!

This movie about svelte model/efficient Russian trained assassin delivers a good 2 hours of tension, fast-paced, and often blood-curdling action which is rivalled, only by the John Wick Movies. In fact, you can’t help but wish for ANNA and John Wick to team for sensory load-breaking, close-combat action scenes. If John Wick had a Nigerian Aunty, She would bundle ANNA straight to John Wick’s house for an arranged marriage.

The movie seems to borrow its cinematic direction heavily from Vantage Point (2014 starring ). The Director & Writer, Luc Beeson Luc Beeson who by the way is best known for cult classics like Transporter 2&3, Taken 123, and Lucy, takes us back and forth the timeline of Anna’s story like a manic DJ who just discovered an 80s style fader knob.

The sweet thing about what Beeson achieved is, unlike Vantage Point where the point-of-view for the various characters told us the story, he uses points-of-reference for ANNA’s cinematic storytelling. You are scrubbed back and forth the same storyline with various characters often having conflicting conversations and actions at different points in this delicious story-within-the-story of a movie.

ANNA stars Sasha Luss and contains a very satisfying amount of strong violence, a manageable amount of filthy language and nudity.

Religion / Pastor Fatoyinbo & His Sexual Skeletons: Apparently Raped Bisola Dakolo In 2000 by Talkaboutit(f): 4:25pm On Jun 29, 2019
Now starting a GoFundMe for his chastity belt

Impacting grace through sex. This is Pastor Biodun Faroyinbo’s claim to fame. If you never heard of the Gucci loving, private jet-hopping, stylish albeit flamboyant pastor of COZA church, well then there’s little time to catch up before the new storm.

Here’s your primer; Pastor Fatoyinbo seems married to sexual controversy as much as he claims to be married to the faith. The preacher who deceptively looks like a style ambassador for GQ Nigeria has survived one sexual controversy after another. The most notable had a church member opening a can of worms some years ago about their steamy relationship. Apparently, Pastor B told her he was impacting a higher level of grace upon her while delivering what we can only hope were multiple orgasms. It would be quite tragic if he did that on a platter of bad sex, wouldn’t it?

In any case, the latest MOAB (Mother Of All Bombshells) is with Timi Dakolo’s wife. Yes! Dear lovable Busola Dakolo the first lady of Timi Dakolo’s adorable yard people nation is the fuse in this MOAB. Timi Dakolo’s wife just gave an interview detailing how Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo Allegedly raped her back in the year 2000! Watch and let’s Talkabout In the comments.

Politics / Getting Nigeria’s Economy High. by Talkaboutit(f): 3:34pm On Jun 27, 2019
This billion dollar industry is taking global economies by storm. When money starts talking, people listen. First, Uruguay legalizes cannabis, followed by Canada. Now, many states in the US are swiftly changing their stance joining the legal weed parade.

The church of England is part of this parade too, a shocking development claims they plan to invest its $16 billion portfolios into marijuana. The church of England justified these decisions by saying the acceptance of marijuana for medical purposes is growing. You’ve to stop and wonder if the Church’s loyal parishioners constitute a potential market? We are still on hold for that one.

Legalizing marijuana could be good for our economy, potentially creating more jobs, and dismantling the black market (it exists and thrives). If we have so much cannabis just sitting in Ondo state, why do we keep burning it? Research has also shown that medical cannabis helps those dealing with cancer, migraines, seizures and so much more. Nigeria could be helping with world health and growing our economy simultaneously. Win, Win, High!

World demand for magic brownies and cookies is going through the roof. Governor Akeredolu could just be onto something here.

Sports / Cheating Or Nah? Cameroon Women Distraught Over England’s Victory by Talkaboutit(f): 12:48pm On Jun 25, 2019
If you did not watch the match between Cameroon and England at the ongoing women’s FIFA world cup, then you are safe. Don’t watch if you want to get angry. The Cameroonian ladies were crying but that is to be expected for a competition where it appears to be biased. They claim the referee was biased with her various decisions, but football pundits think they do not know the rules.

Cameroon attacker, Nchout, had her goal cancelled and that opened the flood gate of tears, as she wept profusely, leading to a hold-up in the game. The game ended with England winning 3: 0, their highest ever on the international stage. However, a Cameroon protest appeared to rob the glory off England’s very important win. A cancelled goal, a penalty and an ‘offside’ goal, all joining in the pudding to make it a very tasty show of emotional outburst.

Politics / Bubu Unlooks Ethiopian Coup by Talkaboutit(f): 11:36am On Jun 24, 2019
Early 23rd of June, 2019, lo and behold, it was breaking news. Africa did not suddenly not become the face of poverty in the world. Also, Boko Haram did not surrender. So what then happened?

The Spirit of Africa, Ethiopia was at the brink of collapse just today. If the spirit collapses, what would the body do? A coup was thwarted in Ethiopia. How could a military general opt for a coup, as a way to ascend governance of a regional government? That is devilish and dumb at the same time. He is just asking for bloodshed, unprovoked because the FG forces will come for him.

In all of these, Brig-Gen Asaminew Tsige has been noted by the Ethiopian PM, Abiy, as the coup plotter. Already, the FG of Ethiopia has released a statement claiming that everything is under control, but you know government, they say one thing and mean another.

But there is a problem now, how will President Buhari react to the coup? Will he condemn it or praise it? If he condemns it, that would be contradictory because wasn’t he a former coup plotter…hmmm. But if he defends it, ahaaaa! His enemies will catch him.

Politics / It’s Just The Tip…not All Of It. by Talkaboutit(f): 12:33pm On Jun 19, 2019
When INEC told the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal that it did not possess any servers and could not have used them during the last elections, Nigerians gasped in disbelief. What now happened to the N2.7bn budgeted for Servers and server maintenance in the INEC 2018 budget? Many asked.

Well the INEC National Commissioner, Solomon Soyebi has come out to clarify the matter, stating that INEC didn’t actually use servers during the recent elections but only experimented with it in some states. (Oh now they have servers) It kinda reminds one of that long used line when a guy is trying to have his way with a babe “baby we don’t have to go all the way, just the tip will be fine”. We all know how that usually ends, don’t we?

Sports / Who’s Taking The Chelsea Hot Seat? by Talkaboutit(f): 11:58am On Jun 19, 2019
It’s official, Maruzio Sarri has left Chelsea, once again leaving them in a position we’ve become too familiar with. Sacking managers or in some case the Gafa leaving after just or sometimes 2 seasons at the club.

Since the arrival of owner, Roman Abramovich at the helm in 2003, they’ve gone through 12 managers…..TalkAbout being picky.

With Sarri taking the Sarriball playbook to Juventus, Chelsea are already deep in their search for a new manager and we have decided to take a look at some possible Gafas.

1. Frank Lampard
Former Chelsea player and club legend, he spent over 13 seasons at the club, breaking records and winning trophies, including the magical Champions league in 2012.

He began his managerial career in 2018 with Championship side, Derby County, narrowly missing out on promotion into the Premier League, to top off an end to a wonderful first season.

A fan favourite, given his lack of managerial experience, he’s still a strong favourite to take over at the bridge.

2. John Terry

The Chelsea golden boy, playing centre back at the club since 1995, up until his sad and forced exit from the club duet old age (football age). Being a big lover of the game, he went ahead to play for Aston Villa in the Championship and eventually leading them back to promotion as an Assistant manager.

With just one season of managerial experience under his belt, he doesn’t seem like a good bet, but like Super Frankie, he’s a fan favourite and a cult hero at the club……..these don’t guarantee trophies though.

3. Steve Holland

Coming across as the quiet guy beside most of the past Chelsea managers, from Andre Villas-Boas to Roberto DI Matteo, Guus Hiddink, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte. And now he’s the assistant of the powerful but sometimes unpredictable English team.

With over 15 years of managerial experience on the side, it’ll be great to see what he’s capable doing on the big stage.

4. Claude Makelele

Arguably one of the best defensive midfielders in the world back then, tirelessly chasing down attackers and controlling the midfield like a teen playing call of duty.

His managerial career has not been as glamorous as his footballing career so far, maybe that might change as he just quit his job as Manager of Belgian side Eupen and it all looks too timely……don’t you think?

5. Jose Mourinho

Laughs in special one, just trying to wind you Chelsea fans up. That’s not possible unless the guys on the Chelsea board are on some next level w****d.

As they say, third time’s a charm…………maybe he has taken care of his third season hoodoo and a big ego.

Right now, these are the preferred choices for the hot seat……….excluding no. 5, Chelsea fans are not ready for another roller coaster season.

Let’s watch how it unfolds, mind you, Chelsea are still banned from buying players, so whoever gets the job has to work with the current crop of players……..this should be fun.

Politics / While We Slept, Jalingo Cried by Talkaboutit(f): 12:25pm On Jun 17, 2019
Yesterday night was hellish for the people of Jalingo, Taraba State, North-East of Nigeria, as suspected herdsmen ambushed the town, killing and injuring hundreds. Reports have it that the attackers were armed with assorted Kalashnikovs, as they shut up the unarmed communities at the fringes of the town over what is suspected to be farmer-herdsmen clashes.

Recall that the North-East has been suffering immensely from the insurgency. This has since stalled economic activities in the region. With Taraba being one of the relatively peaceful states of the North East, this attack upturns that table. Hopefully, the government of President Muhammadu Buhari does something about that. Speaking of banditry, the governor of Zamfara Bello Matawalle is slated to visit Dubai to meet with security experts.

Since security experts cannot come to Zamfara to have first-hand knowledge of what they are consulting on, then no one is safe. Perhaps we expect the Governor of Taraba State to visit Saudi Arabia for his own security meeting? Jokes aside, Just give normal people peace, it is not too much to ask for. It is not fair that while we slept, Jalingo cried.

Politics / Server Or No Server, INEC Where Is Our Money? by Talkaboutit(f): 11:22am On Jun 17, 2019
PDP people are saying there is a server, and APC people are saying gorilla has swallowed the INEC server. We don’t know which to believe but what we know is that INEC collected some millions of Naira for the maintenance and procurement of that server. In other words, just like 50 Cent the Philosopher “Give us our money by Monday.” INEC be wilding.

How can you collect money for something and not do it?

It’s just like an Edo man hustling abroad and sending the sister money back home to build a house and then when he comes back, there is no house and there is no land, plus no money. Wouldn’t she have to return the money? Or does Nigeria need to employ 50 Cent to collect the Server money from Professor Mahmoud Yakubu the INEC Boss? You had better not let it get to involving 50 Cent because you may have to pay double.

Enough said, this Presidential Tribunal has too much drama and it will be funny if Atiku is declared a winner after Mummy Aisha has finished telling the world that the promise to not make her first lady was a campaign scam. You have not heard? See the full story here. About the Server issue, INEC is still denying. Read here too.

Politics / 5 Ways Buhari Can Lift 100m Nigerians Out Of Poverty by Talkaboutit(f): 11:14am On Jun 17, 2019
In his democracy day speech, President Buhari said the APC Government will LIFT 100 million Nigerians from poverty over the next 10 years. Buhari only has 4 more years to rule Nigerians so either his math is off (hello WAEC certificate) or he is bullish on the APC retaining power in 2023.

Bear in mind, the last thing Buhari LIFTED was the unemployment rate from 9.9% in Q3 2015 to 19% in Q3 2018. There are now 20 million Nigerians out of work. Our dear President also LIFTED more people into extreme poverty than anywhere else in the world.
But let’s have faith. When you have no more elections to run for you can take a few liberties like making outlandish promises to build castles in the sky. Here are 5 ways Buhari and the APC can LIFT 100m people out of poverty.

5. Take up powerlifting

If you intend to LIFT 100m people, you have to make sure you have been building your strength in the gym. Buhari will have to eat 6 to 8 times a day and lift HEAVY weights 4 to 6 times a week. Somebody call the Guinness book of world records to meet us at Eagle Square in Abuja. Bring the cameras too.

What makes the dough rise? Yeast. Millions of Nigerians are poor and low on dough. Sprinkle sprinkle little star….

3. Call Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is reportedly the strongest character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s been said she is so powerful, she can move planets. Buhari definitely needs her if he is going to LIFT 100 million people out of poverty

2. Resurrect, legalize, and fund MMM

Let’s face it, Ponzi schemes would be perfect if they didn’t run out of morons money. MMM changed so many lives but unfortunately, the system of robbing Aisha to pay Ashley just couldn’t last. Buhari can fix this by mandating the CBN to print money to keep MMM going. Legalize it and allow people to play it only once until you reach 100 million. Then shut it down.

1. Hypnosis

Many would say the 15 million people that reelected Buhari in February of this year despite the recession, higher unemployment, businesses folding up, and a weak security system were probably under some form of hypnosis. Might as well keep the spell going and promise to LIFT 100 million of them out of poverty. They won’t know the difference.
