Phones / 5 Reasons Why Android Is Better Than Iphone by Tarivanessa(f): 2:26pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
The controversy surrounding the topic of "which is best between Android phone and iPhone" can not be overemphasized. I could remember years back, the rival was between Android and Blackberry but now that BB is completely defeated and fazed out of the competition, focus now turn to Android and PC. While some people claim that iPhone is the best because of its security and classy appearance and design, many others believes that Android is far more better. So here I'm going to outline four main reasons why most smartphone users prefer Android devices. Although Android phones seems to be more popular in Africa, Asia and some countries in the Middle East, but in developed countries like the United States and Britain, iPhone rules. But in Nigeria, the truth is most people that uses iPhone do so in order to be seen as happening guys or babes as they don't even know what to do with it. Some iPhone fanboys buys it to feel among. Imagine! Anyway let's look at why Android is still better than iPhone. 1. Easy File Sharing With Other Devices: Trust me, iPhone is a stingy device. In a normal situation, you can not share files from an iPhone to another device which isn't iOS powered. Though Apple intentionally did this for security reasons to limit the exposure to malware and viruses, I think the bad effect is becoming more uncomfortable for some people hence they prefer Android phones where you can freely share files and even connect to PC easily. With an Android phone, I can easily receive files from other device using Bluetooth or file sharing apps. For instance, my very good friend and Admin to enochtekng can easily share "His Wedding Party Video" from his chinko phone to my Android phone through bluetooth whereby reverse is the case on an iPhone..lols Even To connect to a computer requires the itunes Software whereas, all an Android phone need is a working USB Cord. It's honestly one of the turn offs for iOS devices for the average user. 2. Tweaking And Multitasking: Another reason why Android phone is better than iPhone is the ability to tweak, the flexibility in customization even without rooting the device. In fact, new Android OS like the Marshmallow and Nougat allows users to tweak and get most of those features you normally get on rooted devices. Manipulating and customizing Android is more easier than on iOS powered device where you must jailbreak the device in order to customize even a simple theme. Android offers all sorts of widgets that you can put onto your home screens. These widgets might be anything from a custom clock, weather, alarms, direct calls to contacts in your phone, flashlight, email, messages, and so much more. You can arrange these any which way on your home screens and have your home screens be exactly the way you want them. Multitasking has also been around on Android for a while, and it's extremely easy to use. You simply open up the multitask window and you can drag two apps that you want to have going at the same time in the appropriate boxes (see the picture above). For example, I am watching a YouTube video while accessing my file system at the same. Perhaps you want to watch a lecture video while taking notes right below the video? Or, watch a video while texting your friends? Go for it. Apple finally came out with the ability to multitask, however it is only somewhat useful on iPads, and not implemented very well. Since Android has had multitasking for so long and do it so well, they still take the cake over iOS. 3. Faster OS and System Updates: Android is a mobile operating system developed by Google, based on the Linux kernel and designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. It is an open source OS that gives other manufacturers the ability to make devices with the OS unlike iPhone which are only made by Apple! Different brands now product. http://www.infinix.club/ng/forum/687/164879 |

Phones / Phone Is Charging Slowly: Check These 5 Common Reasons! by Tarivanessa(f): 3:23pm On Oct 25, 2018 |
It shouldn’t take a long time to recharge the battery on your phone. If you’ve noticed it slowing down significantly, there’s probably an issue that’s easy to resolve. Understanding Rechargeable Batteries Every mobile phone has a battery. For the most part, each battery delivers power the same way. A cell battery contains two electrodes (one positive and one negative) and an electrolyte. Through usage, ions form in the electrodes, which drives a flow of electronics to your battery’s negative outer terminal, thereby giving off a charge. In non-rechargeable batteries, these chemical reactions only occur one time. With rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, like the ones found in phones, the chemical reactions are “reversible.” Thus, recharging allows the cell to absorb power. Now that you know how battery charging works, it’s time to look at what might be slowing down your older phone while charging. Most likely, it’s because of one of the following reasons: 1. Bad Accessories The most straightforward reason your cell phone might be charging slower than before might have nothing to do with the phone itself. Instead, you could have a bad cord or adapter, or weak power source. USB cables get put through a lot, especially in homes with multiple users and devices. These cables are often dropped, bent, kept in locations where temperatures can vary significantly, and even stepped on. Therefore, before anything else, change the cable and see if that eliminates the problem 2. Port Issues Your cable isn’t the only element that could have problems from daily charging. Your phone’s charging port could also suffer some damage. Look at the port for corrosion or an obstruction. While this probably isn’t the reason it’s taking more time to charge your device, you should at least rule it out. To find the latter, use a flashlight and magnification to look around inside your phone’s port. Try to remove any object (lint, dust, etc.) that doesn’t belong, being very careful not to cause damage to the port’s components. 3. Background Apps Phones that take forever to charge can also have a hard time keeping a charge when in use. A rogue app, or background apps in general, could be the reason for this. Both Android and iOS now have tools for you to find out what apps are running in the background. When you think you’ve located the nasty app, delete it and see if your battery life and charging speed improves. 4. The Problem Is You Are you the type of person that has to use your smartphone even when it’s charging? Perhaps you’re the reason the device takes so long to recharge. Nowhere is this more apparent than when you’re attempting to recharge your device while also leaving posts on your social network. Instead of doing this, take a break. Make a rule that you won’t use your phone while it’s charging. 5. Aging Battery If you’ve exhausted the other tips on this list and the battery still seems to take forever to charge, you might think about having the battery replaced. The little industry secret is that lithium-ion batteries don’t last forever and can only be recharged a limited number of times. Therefore, it could be that the battery itself is what’s causing the slow recharging. Take your phone to an authorized dealer for more information on replacing the battery in your device. http://infinix.club/ng/forum/626/763995 |
Phones / Google Mandates Two Years Of Security Updates For Popular Phones In New Android by Tarivanessa(f): 3:13pm On Oct 25, 2018 |
Every month, a security team at Google releases a new set of patches for Android — and every month, carriers and manufacturers struggle to get them installed on actual phones. It’s a complex, long-standing problem, but confidential contracts show many manufacturers now have explicit obligations about keeping their phones updated written into their contract with Google. The contract requires Android device makers to regularly install updates for any popular phone or tablet for at least two years. Google’s contract with Android partners stipulates that they must provide “at least four security updates” within one year of the phone’s launch. Security updates are mandated within the second year as well, though without a specified minimum number of releases. David Kleidermacher, Google’s head of Android security, referred to these terms earlier this year during a talk at Google I/O. Kleidermacher said that Google had added a provision into its agreements with partners to roll out “regular” security updates. But it wasn’t clear which devices those would apply to, how often those updates would come, or for how long. The terms cover any device launched after January 31st, 2018 that’s been activated by more than 100,000 users. Starting July 31st, the patching requirements were applied to 75 percent of a manufacturer’s “security mandatory models.” Starting on January 31st, 2019, Google will require that all security mandatory devices receive these updates. Manufacturers have to patch flaws identified by Google within a specific timeframe. By the end of each month, covered devices must be protected against all vulnerabilities identified more than 90 days ago. That means that, even without an annual update minimum, this rolling window mandates that devices are regularly patched. Additionally, devices must launch with this same level of bug fix coverage. If manufacturers fail to keep their devices updated, Google says it could withhold approval of future phones, which could prevent them from being released. The terms appear in Google’s new licensing agreement for Android phones and tablets to be distributed in the European Union while bundling the company’s apps, including the all-important Play Store. A Google spokesperson pointed to company statements from earlier this year calling 90-day bug fixes “a minimum security hygiene requirement” and saying that “the majority of the deployed devices for over 200 different Android models from over 30 Android device manufacturers are running a security update from the last 90 days.” They also pointed to Google’s Android One program, which delivers monthly security updates for three years to supported phones. However, the hygiene statement referred to best practices, and most phones aren’t covered by Android One’s terms. Fragmented security has long been a problem on Android, where phone manufacturers will sometimes ignore products as they age or their use count dwindles. Consumers have rarely had certainty that their device would get timely updates, leading to flaws that remain open well beyond when they were identified. Google has had to nudge carriers and manufacturers to fix the problem in recent years. Recent versions of Android have made it easier to see how recently your phone was updated and the last full version, Android Oreo, restructured the system in a way that made overall OS updates easier and faster to build. Google has also used the Enterprise Recommended program to encourage large buyers to pick safer phones and reward manufacturers that keep phones up to date. But because manufacturers rely on Google for its suite of apps, the company can also make outright demands for updates in its contract. This contractual commitment to patching devices goes much further and guarantees in many cases that devices will remain up to date. While consumers will have no way of knowing for certain whether a device they buy is covered by this agreement, it’s likely that phones or tablets sold internationally and at major retailers would hit the 100,000 sales mark that forces the regular coverage. As Android splits following the EU ruling, the contract also raises questions about how non-Google phones will receive security updates without the same contractual pressures. http://infinix.club/ng/forum/687/763983 |
