Phones / Smartphone Etiquette Tips: The Dos And Don'ts by Tarivanessa(f): 4:17pm On Jun 25, 2018
Hello guys
Mobile phone has become a part of our life, and we can't think of a day without it! While we’re being grateful to our cell phones, let’s also think about why, how and when we use them and perhaps be a bit more courteous in that usage. After all, it’s not always about texting, emailing and calling people, is it?

Studies show that while many users think they practise good mobile etiquette, several people report feeling irritated by the excessive use of phones in public places. Clearly there's a lack of understanding of what is and isn't acceptable in terms of mobile etiquette. Here's few tips you may follow to mind your smartphone manners.

1. Respecting the people you’re with
When you're with others, be it in a meeting or a conversation amongst friends, you should give them your complete and undivided attention. You shouldn't attend any call or text others. If any call is urgent, you may apologise and ask permission before attending that call.

2. Being a good dining companion[b]
You should keep your phone out of sight while having meal. When you have your phone on the table while you’re dinning with your family, you’re letting them know that your phone is more important than they are. If any call is very imporatant to attend, you shouldn't hold a conversation at the table; rather you should walk away, and don't stay away any longer than you would for a bathroom break.

3.[b]Maintaining 10 foot rule

While talking on smartphone, you should think about the 10 foot rule which means 10 feet away from a building, window or when you’re inside a medical office, hospital, library, theater, etc.

4. Keeping voice lower
The average person talks three times louder on a mobile phone than in a face-to-face conversation. Be mindful of your volume, always. You should lower your voice when talking in public. Generally you don't have to shout to be heard. In fact, paradoxically, doing so often makes it harder for you to be understood. Additionally, shouting over the phone disturbs people around you.

5. Putting phone in silent mode
You should silence your phone in workplace or during a work appointment. Now that your phone is out of sight, it’s still more than distracting and/or rude to the person with whom you’re meeting to hear than phone from your handbag, pocket, briefcase. If you can’t turn it silent, turn it to vibration mode.

6. Considering the content of conversations
You should consider the content of your phone conversations. Remember that you’re working, so no profanity. Also remember that once you send a text, post, tweet, etc., it is “live.” Your spontaneous communication with one person has the possibility of being shared with lots of people. You should keep in mind that phone communications can be contagious.

While talking in public, you should keep arguments under wraps. Nobody wants to hear your personal rants, and what’s more, no one can hear the person on the other end. Understand that personal is just that: personal. If callers want to talk about personal details, simply tell them that you will call them back later, or, if this is not possible, try moving someplace you can have a little privacy. Alternatively, switch to text messaging.

7. Avoiding multi-tasking
No matter how good you think you are at it, chances are, you’re probably not that good. So avoid making calls while driving, shopping, banking, or doing almost anything that involves interacting with others. In certain situations, it puts your life and the lives of others in danger, and in other situations it can be a nuisance to people.

If you use your cell phone in your car, make sure that you check state laws for hands free usage. Also make sure you have the appropriate safety gear for your phone and car with you in your car to be safe.

Fellow nairalanders, having good mobile phone etiquette is similar to common courtesy. Conversations and text exchanges have a tendency to distract people from what's happening in front of them. While making phone conversation or text, we should be thoughtful, courteous and respect the people around us.
Signing off for now!

You locked them in place. Which mean they cannot be cleared.

Tap on the Locked icon at the top of each app to unlock them then clear them from the multitasking Window.

Take a look a t mine. Phoenix and chrome are locked in (did it intentionally) while UC browser isn't.

Phones / Where Do You Keep Your Phone When You Sleep? by Tarivanessa(f): 3:34pm On Jun 14, 2018
We spend most of our days with our smartphones and the other half is spent sleeping, but it seems some people will not leave their phones out of their reach during sleep for whatever reasons. I usually keep my phone on the table beside my bed in case i need the flash or when boo calls wink, some even put it under their pillow so let’s hear you.

Phones / How Often Do You Charge Your Phone ? by Tarivanessa(f): 8:55pm On Jun 11, 2018
Charging is the most important support any mobile device can get, more like a food to humans, unfortunately many do not put this in to consideration before getting new device. Once a day, twice or once in three days according to the capacity, how often should you charged charge you phone?

Phones / What Old Mobile Phone Are You Using And Why? by Tarivanessa(f): 9:11am On May 30, 2018
So i saw this cute guy in the bus with one of the first generations phones today. I just found it endlessly fascinating why he was still doing old skool concerning recent trends have advanced by a hundred fold.
While the latest devices like the Hot 6 and co may be the objects of our discourse, there are people out there still using old generation phones!
So what old tech are you still using and why? What’s it like using it? Do you prefer it to what’s out there now because of features the rest of the world left behind?
