Following the recent cases of collapsed buildings in Lagos State, the administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola said yesterday that it would no longer tolerate building construction on weekends and public holidays.

This was made known by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Olutoyin Ayinde while briefing journalists on the activities of his ministry in the last one year.

According to him, this would help to check unscrupulous developers and building contractors who secretly engage in construction of buildings at night, weekends and public holidays in a bid to dodge building and control agents.

The commissioner also stated that no fewer than 407 identified uncompleted buildings abandoned by owners across the state would be confiscated, and appropriate sanctions imposed on owners of the abandoned buildings across the state.
