*Tuface and Annie Idibia during their traditional marriage

Photographer drags TuFace, wife to court over wedding pictures on June 29, 2013 at 1:09 am in Music, News By Abdulwahab Abdulah Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has fixed October 16, 2013 for the commencement of trial in a N120 million copyright suit filed against popular music star, Innocent Idibia, a.k.a. TuFace, his wife, Annie Idibia and their manager, Anthonio Anifite over photographs allegedly taken at the recent traditional wedding of the musician and his wife in Akwa Ibom State. Abuja based photographer, Emmanuel Okolo, who is the plaintiff in the suit alongside his studio, Papilonmexy filed suit against the defendants. *Tuface and Annie Idibia during their traditional marriage He is asking for six reliefs, two of which include N100 million in general damages and N20million in exemplary damages. At the resumed hearing of the case yesterday, neither TuFace nor his wife was represented in court. Anifite who is the second defendant was however represented by his counsel, J.O Uttute. Meanwhile, a mild drama ensued when the judge openly admonished Uttute after the latter claimed that he had filed his defence when he had not done so. The judge warned him not to come to this court again if he was not prepared for the case. “You told me that you have filed your response, but looking through here, there is nothing to that effect. And you are even smiling. Do you think you are here to joke? Never come to this court again if you are not prepared. You don’t even know when the case was filed and you are not prepared for it,” said the judge. Also, the plaintiff’s counsel, Habeeb Oredola expressed worry over the defendants’ inability to appear before the court or be represented by a counsel after they were served with the writs of summon. In the writ of summon, Okolo and his studio claimed they were contracted by TuFace’s wife through a third party, identified as Ms Chineze Anyaene to take photo shots at the traditional wedding held in Eket, Akwa Ibom state in March, 2013. The plaintiff said, he was reluctant at the beginning since the offer was coming through a third party, but later accepted after he was convinced that the offer was actually with the blessing of the first defendant. Annie Idibia was said to have later contacted the photographer after the wedding and demanded for the printing of 10 of the high resolution pictures taken. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/06/photographer-drags-tuface-wife-to-court-over-wedding-pictures/ |

JOHANNESBURG – Nelson Mandela’s foundation has vowed to press ahead with upcoming 95th birthday celebrations, as the global peace icon underwent a twelfth day in hospital Wednesday for a recurring lung infection. On the frail icon’s July 18 birthday, various charity organisations and businesses will paint schools, hand out food parcels and books, and run a 67 kilometre (41 miles) relay marathon in the spirit of Mandela’s 67 years of activism and public work. Mandela spent 27 years in jail for his opposition to white minority rule, and walked free to become the country’s first black president after all-race elections in 1994. “We see this as an opportunity for people to rise above Madiba’s hospitalisation,” said Sello Hatang, the foundation’s CEO, referring to Mandela by his clan name. The Nobel peace laureate, who devoted his life to promote education and AIDS activism, wanted people to carry on his good work, his great-grandson Mbuso Mandela told AFP. “His idea for me was just to continue the legacy which he put forth to myself and to the rest of the nation, which is humility and education,” said the 22-year-old. Local and global celebrities have also endorsed a call by the United Nations, which declared the icon’s birthday International Mandela Day, on people to do 67 minutes of good deeds. “I too will also be giving my 67 minutes to make the world a better place, one small step at a time,” said British billionaire Richard Branson in a video clip played at this year’s International Mandela Day launch in Johannesburg. Mandela’s birthday celebrations will be all the more poignant as the icon battles a persistent pulmonary condition that has plagued him for years. He was hospitalised on June 8 in the capital Pretoria with a lung infection, and the South African presidency has described his condition as serious but improving. But the United Nations insisted on his living legacy, instead of the ailing man. “People are focusing more on his passing away rather than his recovery,” said UN country representative Agostinho Zacarias. “We at the UN would like to focus on his recovery and a quick recovery, and wish him well.” Former US president Bill Clinton said following Mandela’s example starts with small actions. “In doing so we can inspire more and more people to live as Mandela has: with the belief that tomorrow does not have to be like yesterday,” he said in pre-recorded message. Another great-grandson, Luvuyo Mandela, 27, said the icon would have been proud to see people echo his goodwill in their deeds. “How would he respond? With his world-famous smile,” said the younger Mandela. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/06/mandelas-95th-birthday-plans-go-ahead-despite-illness/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |
nbright: I never believe things like this happen for real, always thought it was a joke not untill it happened in front of me at uniport... A girl withdrew 120,000 to pay her house rent. From the bank she went to a business centre to drop her form for filling, then from there she went to to her house... Like 30 mins time she came back to the place looking like a mad woman, she was crying and smiling at the same time, when probed by people to tell what happened to her, she said immediately she got home, she opened her purse to bring out the money but she saw neatly cut and arranged A4 papers. The papers were 120 in numbers... I was shocked and scared at the same time 'cos she said she sat near a tall dark guy and then I was the only guy in that centre that fits the discription..I know der is more 2 dis ur story............abeg come finish am. |
