Christianity EtcRe: Testimonies On Why We Stopped Tithing Here by Tayeni(m): 10:08am On Oct 09, 2013
Pastor Kun: Trust you to support any statement that supports your tithing racket no matter how daft it sounds. How any right thinking person can make a principle of Abraham's one off voluntary tithes from war booty and now twist it to mean mandatory monetary tithes from all income for christians who were never even required to emulate Abraham seriously beats my imagination. It must be obvious to you lot that you are just grasping at straws to justify this fraud you are perpetuating on the body of Christ since Malachi 3:10 which is based in law has been torn to shreds.
it boggles the mind how far they would go to twist d scriptures, bend it, cut and join it out of context and arrive at d most ridiculous meaning then slap d label of "rhema" on it while whipping up fear and selfishness in pple to help force it down their throats. They only give out of compulsion and fear and selfishness. Giving should b selfless. But they give for d sole purpose of receiving, for fear of d "devourer". Imagine someone saying Jesus collected tithe as melchi.........how someone will identify melchi as Jesus is a "rhema" dt sounds like d most crafted "conspiracy theory" of this century
PoliticsRe: Comparing Legacies - Obasanjo Vs Goodluck Jonathan by Tayeni(m): 7:50pm On Oct 08, 2013
whizkidd: Obsanjo was a proactive reformer but a terrible politician. Some of his achievements are:

Debt Relief, Bank Consolidation, Stock Exchange growth, Setting up the Foreign Reserve & Excess Crude accounts, NEEDS/SEEDS/LEEDS framework. The power reforms in actuality started with Obsanjo with the setting up of the regulatory framework (NERC) and building of the NIPP's. A lot of the work that is being commissioned now started during his regime.

However, setting up frameworks and putting people on the ground to execute are totally different which is where he failed abysmally. By rigging thugs into state government houses and cuddling incompetent ministers/commissioners, he invariable undid the work his government started. Lastly, he handed us a sick and unfit Yar'Adua as president which to me is an unforgivable sin and is a reason for much of the problems going on in the country right now.

Jonathan to me is a consolidator, finishing some of the needed reformed and building on them:

By continuing and completing the power reforms started by Obasanjo and perfected by Barth Nnaji, Jonathan might be the President that finally solves our power problems (which everyone know accounts for 70% of Nigeria's problems).

The deregulation of the fuel industry though highly unpopular, was the right move and one that took a lot of guts. You guys voted him to make the difficult choices not the convenient ones. In the long run, investment in refinement would not be possible without total deregulation (Dangote for example). Expect total deregulation if he is re-elected.
The setting up of the Sovereign Wealth Fund is another solid macro-economic decision that benefits us long term.
If they indeed setup the mortgage fund, that will be the biggest win for Nigerians. People still dont understand the importance of mortgages to a capitalist economy. This to me along with power reforms is the biggest reform that can be implemented.

On the downside, he has an absolutely abysmal record with corruption, and is playing election politics years in advance. The security situation in the country is worse than ever and he doesnt inspire confidence thing will get better. Also there is an absence of leadership to pass bills in the national assembly to benefit the country. More politics, less governance. Let's hope he can focus on working once he get re-elected (because he WILL win even if they have to burn the country down). God bless naija!
I'm sorry I'm quoting a very long comment. But its d most balanced, non partisan and intelligent opinion I've read on this thread. Very objective.

geez! Is a one off thing considered a tithe or a vow?

Is vow and tithe same?

How can you link both together?

All these just to appear 'right'?

GOD HAVE MERCY!
you took d words out of my mouth! In both cases, (Abram and Jacob)they vowed to give one tenth........it wasn't a command or law requiring them to do so. Those weren't d norm.......those were exceptional cases.

PoliticsRe: Zamfara Women Protest Over Husband Scarcity by Tayeni(m): 9:58pm On Sep 26, 2013
honeric01: Go to benue, edo, ekiti, bayelsa, rivers, akwa ibom, enugu, abia, e.t.c, alot of women are making money without education,

What they need is empowerment and also a change of policy that gives women room to decide for themselves as early as possible in life.
you just hit d nail straight on d head my friend. Their women folk need more liberty to aspire to achieve things for themeselves. They seem to think a woman's "shelf life" ends when she is done bearing kids. There's more to womanhood than virg.inal sex(early marriage) and child bearing. Their culture is such dt keep women in ball and chains....making virtually half d population dead weights.
PoliticsRe: Zamfara Women Protest Over Husband Scarcity by Tayeni(m): 9:35pm On Sep 26, 2013
Katsumoto: Not necessarily men but welfare benefits. If the government has financial responsibility, it will stop the practice which will result in husbands not divorcing their wives to take new child brides.

The Sharia government allowed the women to marry too early, so the government must be responsible for their welfare.

Many of these women weren't allowed to go to school or learn a trade. They give birth too early and develop VVF.

When the girls get to 17, the government allows their wicked husbands to divorce them so that the wicked husbands can take new child brides.

In all the steps, the government is culpable.
its a vicious circle and its sad they can't see it. They're even proud of d system.....almahiri, VVF, child bride, illiteracy, high divorce rate......all interlinked and fueled by their version of Shari'a

Christianity EtcRe: Is It Wrong To Preach In A Public Transport? by Tayeni(m): 7:44pm On Sep 25, 2013
Orikinla: No.
You can and should only preach where it is permitted.
It is not by force.
Jesus Christ never forced his message on anyone.
He never waged any war and never killed anyone.
He never preached any religion and never forced any on anybody.
exactly! That's why its not proper to preach to everybody onboard without asking them if its ok or not.......d way d cultured ones among us do it is ask "would you mind if I shared some scriptures wt you?" . Not launching into it like you convened everybody there for dt purpose. And if you must, it should b one on one.
I admit Jehova's witnessess could b pesky sometimes, but I like d way they do their things.....you never feel pressured or blackmailed around them........there might not b definite laws on these things but decorum requires it

Orikinla: There is nothing wrong in preaching the Good News on public buses.
I preached on both "Molue" and "Danfo" buses in Lagos for over 11 years[/size]
why don't you do d same in an airplane..........danfo and molue r chaotic environments we hv to endure until we can afford not to. If d transport system were sane and orderly, you won't dare.......I lie?

duality: If it is wrong, then its also wrong to discuss politics, football or any other in a public transport.
that's a wrong analogy my friend. Religion is a very strong and dividing factor. Besides, you said "discussion".....which is a two way thing. I hv to consent to and participate in a conversation to make it a discussion. But being preached at at d top of ur lungs especially wen we r cramped togeda in a metal might earn you a "please STFU"..........I'd say dt nicely ofcourse.. I'm a gentleman.
