Sometimes common sense makes you do the proper thing, not just the "right" thing.
Stopping at a gas station was the proper thing to do.
Dem for don make hashtag for am on twitter if had stopped immediately.
Let's say he was afraid of being shot, after pulling up at the gas station. The next "proper" thing to do was to comply. Put your hands up, slowly step out of the car. And you'd be on your way home in no time.

why do black Americans always behave irrationally stubborn, thereby heightening an already tense situation. And when it escalates out of control, they start playing the victim card.

Something for that Duante guy, accidentally shot by a policewoman after resisting arrest and trying to drive off. Why do you always want to hop and dance and run when you already know the cops are jumpy. Now they have started thrashing and burning their own neighborhood. Such harebrained move.

Good thinking on his part to
1... Slow down
2.... Put his blinkers on
3....find a lit up and fairly public area with possible cctv
4... Get his mobile phone on his dashboard to start recording
5... And did not resist arrest

Good call on the guvvie though all na to save face in light of BLM.

To the Lieutenant , Your mama's prayers are working really hard.

.
point 5 isn't true. He was ordered to step out of the car for over 20 times and he refused. Before that, he drove for over a mile before finally stopping. Put yourself in the shoes of the policeman. Is that not a red flag that something is off?

That's why high capital funds gauge and guard against sharp inflation... Aka stock market funds. When companies like Nestlé sell products at almost the same prices in five years are in the same. Country experiencing the same. Conditions doesn't it tell you that Greed is the factor pushing up prices and not natural inflation..

Should sharp spikes in prices that affect business occur in production, the financial Base should absorb some of the tension and not react to it at every twist and turn
Lol. " Financial base?". What I understand from what you wrote is that, stock market investors should bear the brunt by watching the value and returns from their stock suffer.

That apart. You will experience every bit of every bump in a risky and volatile economy my friend.
policy somersaults, Business killing policies, No infrastructure (you have to build yours from scratch) etc will make any business man negotiate those twists and turns like a formula one driver.

most of ingredients needed for making cement have to coming from other country

nobody talk about BOA cement .. ELEPHANT anD LARFAGE cement comparing their price to dangote the cement factory is not monopolize to some extent i just depend on the size of market you have

why do you think many one man business always fail because if the thing hit you and you dont have supportive plan naa to comit succide

Let ask whats the price for other brand of cement so that it will not be only Dangote we go dey bash
You don't even need to compare cement prices of different brands to know that these things are driven by inflation. Just take other building components(roofing sheets, nails, wood) and compare the trajectory of those prices with that of cement over the past 4 years.

Which taxes? The one they refuse to pay? They ones they don't pay in other African countries? Which "overall cost of doing business"? They're almost getting limestones for free! Explain exactly how the cost of doing business in Nigeria is responsible for almost 5k per bag of cement! He sold cement for almost 2k under Jonathan.
Dangote is even trying to shift the blames to the traditional bogey man here, the "middle men", you are the one pushing a tired excuse of "cost of doing business"..
Don't know why every evil in this country must have a supporter...
Agreed, price of cement was lower under Jonathan. But you will admit that the prices of everything has risen since then. How is It the sole fault of Dangote?

Let's not even go outside construction industry. Every other component has become more expensive. And in your opinion, Dangote should ignore his rising cost of production and just "dash" people cement.

Buddy, the cause of our inflation is the general ineptitude of those in Government in charge of the driver's of the economy not Business men.

Funny people criticize Dangote for expensive products the same way Innoson has been criticized for his expensive cars, bit we fail to connect the dots that; wetin affect Musa go affect Chima in this economy.

They don’t mean communism in this sense, essentially let me give you an example let’s say
Dangote wants to build a steel plant in asaba or whatever. The people of that community will get a portion of the money made from it, socialism is sharing the money between the richest and the people or the communities, anything built in a community must be felt in the community, gold mine in zamfara? The community has to get money from thst development, oil in Niger delta the community will feel it, it’s not only the richest of the rich who own the things that get the money they still get money just not all of it. Understand
That's what taxes are for. How else do you want the community to "feel" it.

This is a good move there is no political party with the ideology of pan Africanism and no political party that is built upon African morals and is looking for African solutions to African problems. We need to stop looking at things the same way the Europeans do we are Africans not Europeans we are different people and we should show that in our everyday life, pan Africanism has come to roost in Africa and it will be the ideology that will free Africa in terms of socialism I’m a bit unsure on that matter but we will see.

Unity is the only way forward

I don't see that technology becoming common place in Nigeria in the next 20 years. Our petrol marketers have nothing to worry about. My prediction is Africa will be the dumping ground for obsolete and cheap internal combustion engine vehicles.

Nigeria will be awash with cheap petrol because no one will buy from the international market. So, we gat cheap petrol to run cheap tokunbo cars.

myBraine:
Nice comparison OP but I'll like you to know that one thing makes them equal, and that's the good intention they have for we the citizens.

There's a popular saying that no one should judge a book by it's cover or name. Imagine, the most recommended book on wealth creation and finance is “Rich Dad Poor Dad.” Be honest OP, without any prior notice, can you walk into a book store and make purchases for a book with such a title or cover, and on the off chance that it is also based on the aforementioned niche? Definite, no. What I'm saying is that without any prior recommendation, you'll buy “Think and Grow Rich” a hundred and one light years ahead of the earlier mentioned book. That's because it has a catchy name (another dicey game for marketers though). You might want to decide to prove me wrong but the people that have read both will definitely prove you otherwise.

Back to the topic, Sars may have their own deficiency and unprofessionalism but they're obviously not as bad as people are portraying them to be. It is the digitization of our society that needs total reform and not Sars. We grew up with the knowledge of going to the farm but all of a sudden, everyone dropped their farming equipments (hoes and cutlasses) and picked up expensive gadgets as a replacement. How then will the next generations know our true calling and culture?

What we should be thinking of now is how to encourage our leaders to put the youths under obligation of working in the farm, even though they need rehabilitation in countries like Republic of Congo and Kenya first. Imagine if the youths are spending equal amounts of time they're spending with their smartphones on trees or inside bushes (planting crops, harvesting and so on), will Sars have been killing them in scores?

This digitalization of a thing is killing our agro-based economy. The hike in the recent price of rice have the youths to be blamed. Let the youths leave streets, pick up farm tools and see if Sars will not desist from killing or exhorting them. The country needs the youths for agriculture.
Unbelievable! Are you a cave man or something? You want Nigerian youths to get stuck in the Stone age? farming with tools? when everything all around the world is digitized?

Do you know why food is cheaper in certain smaller countries compared to Nigeria? Simply because of the type of subsisence, labour intensive farming we do. When everything is supposed to be digitized and mechanized.

Don't even know how to start re-orientating you brother.

BusinessRe: RE- DM For Price: The Reason Why Many Online Vendors Do It by Tayeni(m): 11:34am On Sep 29, 2020
daddytime:
Lol

While your rejoinder was necessary and commendable, there are more grey areas you still didn't address in your very long post.

First off, I'm not sure the op of the initial post, not the subsequent respondents were in any way referring to the CNN's, BBC, Coscharis, or Innosons of this world.

He/she was referring to people selling stuff as small as a wrist bead.

In my opinion, the simplest and best way to curtail all you stated above as being the reason for the "DM for price", is simply to state the prices along with the advertorial and be sure to say those are your best prices. This way, you are almost certain that whoever was coming into your DM wasn't coming to start haggling any further about prices but to finalize the purchase.

The only reason I would have leaned towards in your argument would have been, " sellers request for the dm for prices because they do not want to clog up their advert space with unnecessary haggling, etc". This excuse would have been tenable.

Fixing your prices alongside your advert is the best way to filter out time-wasters and unserious buyers.
Your normal Instagram ad won't tell a prospect all the benefits, specs, trims and aftersales services available that will justify high prices in some expensive items, so it's better for human to human interaction to convert prospects into buyers. Everyday items are an exception to this rule.

The problem with us in Nigeria is we abuse processes or for some, they don't know the reason they do somethings. They just know Mr A is saying check your DM on his ads. They too parrot check your DM on their a zobo drinks adverts.

And for others, they are just plain hustlers trying to make non savvy buyers pay top dollar for knockoffs.
BusinessRe: DM For Price: Why Do Online Vendors Do This? by Tayeni(m): 5:42pm On Sep 23, 2020
I think it's because of indecision on the seller's part. They can't stick to a segment of the market for fear of missing out on sales. They want to sell to highend buyers at crazy prices and also to price sensitive buyers for low margins.

My concern is the safety of ordinary citizens who want to farm too. Tuface has the luxury of visiting his farm with the police as his security.

Can't farm, can't enjoy nature by hiking in the country side, you dare not build a cabin house like you see in foreign countries, your car had better not breakdown while traveling interstate without the fear of "those people".

We ve tried the first and it as been failure since independence so why not try a new system and see if it will work.
That is how a proactive government that has the people's interest work.

Or rather we stay in a non functioning method and theorize that a new method wont work.
By all means, let's try something different. But something different that doesn't have the filthy fingers of any state or region in it. Doesn't matter what they morph into....regional, province, state or whatever.

Let the power sector be sold to competent companies maybe foreign companies(technical know-how and funding reasons) in partnership with Nigerian investors(national security concerns and funding).
