Why can't FG just allow states or regions to generate their own power and the rest will be shared to national grid for export.

You want states that aren't viable to take up more responsibilities?

What I can understand is that the govt is trying to throw the market open and discontinue the monopolistic ownership of those rights

They on the other hand don't wanna loose any part of the right to keep all income flowing to their hands only.
I wonder why people think Monopoly, in this sense is, bad. How do we think people who invent stuff make their money of not through patents(state sanctioned monopoly).

How do you get the most for your intellectual property if not through exclusive rights to it. And we wonder why ouf citizens are not innovative and competitive in Nigeria until they travel abroad.

I guarantee you this ; Whoever supports this idea has never ran any real business before.

Nigeria is confused. Do we want investors or not?. Same stupid confusion in power sector, oil, entertainment, water etc.
Especially the citizens. Decades of free crappy services have conditioned us to think everything should be free. Nothing good comes free.

They're way more differences than similarities between the languages, if they had a common origin the reverse would be the case like the Auchi's, Esan, Ayogwiri and benins
The similarities can only point to one fact,; they are related more than people know generally or will care to admit.

My theory is that, the two languages split off earlier than those you mentioned hence the huge difference.

EducationRe: 8 Igbo Words That Have The Same Sound And Meaning With Yoruba Words by Tayeni(m): 1:33pm On May 18, 2020
I think there is a deep historical link between the two languages. Deeper than can be found between Yoruba language and Hausa.

Hausa words that appear in Yoruba were obviously borrowed when they came in contact.

But Yoruba words that share similar sounds with Igbo words are not of mere objects. Water and parts of the body are too intrinsic to a language to be borrowed.

Always fact check if you are unsure of an opinion. That will save you alot of arguments.

I repeat...covid-19 is almost twice as contagious as Ebola.

Malaria is in my opinion a poverty disease. Why do you think charity organizations give out insecticide treated nets for free in most parts of sub Sahara Africa? A unit of those nets shouldn't cost more than 2000 naira on the market, yet most people can't afford it especially in rural populations.

There is no video or article you want to share about Bill Gates that I'm not conversant with....negative or positive. We just believe what we believe. That's the beauty of belonging to the human race. Biological differences...differences in opinion etc. It's all good.

iknowwhoiam:
The issue is not infection rate, but mortality rate, Ebola, Malaria, have high mortality rate than COVID-19, yet there is no successful cure for either.
There are many documented cases of people over 60 years who survived COVID-19. E.g. Prince Charles. The main thing just as you wrote 'Same for people who have underlying conditions or whose immunity is compromised."
It's not easy to catch Ebola as it is to catch CoVid-19 which sort of makeup for the high mortality rate. Malaria has various effective cures both herbal and pills. The mortality of malaria has more to do with socioeconomic status of the affected population than the disease itself.

Sure some people above 60 survive it. But those cases are sort of what they call outliers. Cos most people above 60 have diseases and health conditions that raise your chances of dying by covid. Keyword here is -mosg

Fine. Thank goodness everybody doesn't hold the same opinion. And it's a good thing that it's not mandatory to vaccinate 100% of a given population to attain herd immunity.

You should be grateful to Mr Gates for his work on the eradication of polio despite conspiracy theories and pervasive ignorance.

iknowwhoiam:
We are on the same page, if the drugs (Madagascar drug, IWU/Orji drug, remdesivir , HCQ + Zinc + Vitamin D + C) can reduce the mortality rate, that is great. That is what we want. If this is the case, then why the panic across the world?, If this is the case, then there is actually no need for the vaccine. Malaria (in Africa) and flu ( in the west) is even more deadlier than COVID-19. So why the fuss?
1. Covid-19 is way more cantagious than flu or malaria.
2. If you are above 60 years of age. You chances of dying by covid infection is very very high. Same for people who have underlying conditions or whose immunity is compromised.

This means that the Life expectancy of the human race has effectively been cut to somewhere around 60 years.

Considering that the disease has a survival rate of over 90 percent, one needs to test it on thousands of patients before we can determine efficacy.

The remdesivir drug was tested on over 2000 people in the USA before they realised that it dropped the death rate by 30 percent. And they still haven't claimed it's a cure.
Thanks once again for your objectivity. Don't know why people don't apply critical thinking before forming opinions. It's just a matter of mathematics....one doesn't even have to be a statistician to understand it. Seems most people hate numbers.

From your logic, if the drug can cure 2% of the test case (which is very very good - it is better than nothing) and 98% do not need drug/vaccine to recover, then why are you waiting for salvation a la - bill gates vaccine?
As things are today, we shouldn't care where the cure or vaccine comes from. Abalaka, Iwu, Bill Gates, or Madagascar....who cares.

It's a known fact everywhere in the world that up to 98% is the survival rate. I didn't say it was the so called drug that cured 2%. I hope the drug works. But there is no single shred proof yet.

The Madagascar herb is a well known malaria medicine and widely Used malaria therapy. It doesn't need animal testing in My opinion. What it needs is large scale human clinical trials as it's already being done by distributing it to other countries. Madagascar does not have enough cases to confirm it's efficacy
Thank you. I wonder why people can't understand that simple fact. They just want to be emotional and jump the gun. We Africans need to wake up from our new found "wokeness" and realize patriotism and emotions and conspiracy theories can't replace science and facts no matter how long you scream and throw tantrums.

On the bold, why not give him the opportunity to prove his case, Did Madagascar went through those 'Animal, clinical "trials, yet their (President) government stood solidly behind the researchers. Guess what, the drug seems to cure the virus to the extent of sending it to Nigeria.

We have the resources in Nigeria that can dig us out of this quagmire, yet people seems not be interested in the cure, rather in $.
lol. No responsible government will start giving that concoction to it's citizens to gulp down in an uncontrolled test or trial. The drugs were sent to Nigeria for trials...not as proven therapeutics.

You call that research? what kind of research bases it's findings on a test group of less than 200 patients? That is too small a sample size. Any idiot will know that. Especially with a disease that has a mortality rate of less than 2%. Meaning about 98% of the infected people are expected to fight it and self-resolve with little assistance of any drug.

Which means the efficacy of the drug was based on 2% of 198 patients in other words 4 patients.

Science and reason is no respecter of tribal sentiments. Don't you think the sensible thing to do is to be cautious in spending billions on ventilators after they have been proven not to do much in reducing the mortality rate of CoVid-19?

With Iwu's concoction, I sincerely hope it works. But the burden of proof is on Iwu. Not the government. Animal trials, clinical trials. Science has a process. My advice to him is to respect the process as a scientist that he is.

except indorama react smartly and build a refinery to enjoy whatsoever policies the government will be bringing to fore to help dangote(and his cohort politicians who contributedmoney to the project) ,i see government hurting their market by banning importation of their raw chemicals to cripple them or force them to run to Dangote for material supply
Don't you think it will be a good thing if government forces them to procure their materials from local sources instead of using importation as a conduit to repatriate profits and capital to their countries?

I think it's a sensible thing to do if you are patriotic as long as Dangote doesn't practice price gouging.

Lol I'm just wondering how dangote would compete with andorama port Harcourt

Refining of crude is not a every profitable venture at all ...unless u vertically integrate ...refine n sale at your own filling stations ...outside that it's not profitable at all

Petrochemical is where the real money is ...and we have a giant there already ...eleme Petro chemicals run by Indians ....unless government kills eleme dangote won't see Jack in this industry

Dangote has never done well in any industry he has competition at all

Maybe he would use government to get crude below cost price ...but that's not sustainable
Does this company you mentioned ; Indorama, produce petrol? Do they produce those derivatives domestically or are just importers? And where do they get their crude oil from?

While that is currently being investigated, we have little window of opportunity here sir. In your own view, has this lockdown achieved its intended objective?? Thousands already carrying the virus and are actively transmitting the virus as soon as government relax the curfew/lockdown via markets as you've observed across some States. When they transmit to others, they'll go home and stay indoor for days, this ultimately increase the virulence factors of the virus upon subsequent relaxation of lockdown. Instead, perhaps, if herd immunity is being considered, the virus cannot maintain absolute exponential value in the midst of a continues population on daily basis. Eventually it will die down and immunity will start to develop. But for herd immunity to be activated, 50% of the population will have to be infected and the people at higher risk pose a difficult imminent danger. That is my other concern
Come on my friend! We should allow the virus to run free for herd immunity? Do you think the statistics of mortality is mere numbers? There are people behind those numbers. Human beings.

I'm sure you have aged ones whose death( God forbid) will devastate you.

Your suggestion is tantamount to playing Russian roulette with your own life.
