Nollywood super-stars, Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme fondly referred to as Aki and Paw Paw have been stopped from shooting a movie in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
According to online reports, the director of the said movie flouted some regulations of the Film Producers’ Association of Ghana (FIPAG), hence the directive to stop production.
Meanwhile, the association PRO, Mr. Michael Ola disclosed to nydjlive.com that the association had no misgivings about the duo but believed the right procedure had to be followed.

Police operatives in Lagos have arrested three persons and declared one other wanted for allegedly gang raping a girl to a state of coma. The young girl, simply identified as Vivian, is battling with death in a private hospital in Ikorodu area of the state.
Crime Watch gathered that the 15-year-old secondary school girl had gone to collect lesson notes from her colleague, Tabiola.
Tabiola was alleged to have lured her to a place where three others were waiting to devour her virginity.
A police source told Crime Watch that as soon as Tabiola walked in with Vivian, the suspects locked her inside a room where they forcefully stripped her naked.
According to the senior police officer, the girl was gang raped and was abandoned unconscious in the pool of her own blood.
The police officer, who gave the names of the three suspects as Yusuf, Rasheed, Oyedepo said, “When it dawned on the suspects that the girl was unconscious, they abandoned her in the pool of her blood where she would be seen and fled from the community. I believe that the evil guys did not expect the girl to survive.
“Anyway, as the case is, it will take the grace of God and good medical attention for the girl to survive and be normal again. Her pelvic, according to doctor’s report, has been so battered. She was badly injured and she lost too much blood. More so, the girl was a virgin and was forcefully deflowered. I feel for her because she is so devastated and psychologically traumatised.”
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ngozi Braide who confirmed the story told Crime Watch that the victim is a Secondary school girl. “She was lured to the place where she was gang raped by four men. She is presently recuperating in a private hospital.
Her condition was very bad as she was abandoned unconscious in the pool of her own blood.
“We have arrested three suspects and one other is still at large but we have declared man hunt for the fleeing suspect.”
She warned young girls to be wary of the male friends they keep as friends as some of them may be worse than beasts. “Don’t visit your male friends alone and even when you go in company, don’t follow your male friends inside the house or a secluded areas,” she advised.

In a last ditch effort to resolve the ASUU strike, President Goodluck Jonathan will on Monday, November 4, meet with the leadership of ASUU at the Presidential Villa.

This was part of the resolutions of the meeting between the ASUU leadership, Vice President Namadi Sambo and the Supervising Minister of Education on Tuesday as was first reported by this medium.

An official of the Vice President’s office who pleaded anonymity told Scan News that all hands are now on deck to ensure that the universities resume next week.

The official stated that the Vice President and the Supervising Minister of Education have made head-way in resolving the strike, but the final involvement of the President is to show ASUU that there is the commitment of the Federal Government at the highest level.

It was learnt that the President has been fully briefed on steps taken by Vice President Namadi Sambo and the Supervising Minister of Education to get to this point.

It was learnt that the President will at next Monday’s meeting present to the ASUU leadership the administration’s last concession for them to call off the prolonged strike.

A source at the Presidential Villa noted that if ASUU fails to call off, the Federal Government will then resort to plan B, which will be to compulsorily open the universities, using the instrumentality of the governing councils and the school managements.

Already, most of the governing councils of the universities have started meeting to work out modalities for the compulsory re-opening of the universities should ASUU fail to honour the personal request of President Jonathan.

Scan News gathered that the Supervising Minister of Education, Barr. Nyesom Wike and the Vice Chancellors of Public Universities also discussed the re-opening of the schools last Monday. Most of the Vice Chancellors suggested the compulsory re-opening of the schools, should the last ditch efforts fail.

It was gathered that security report available to the Presidency may have necessitated this line of action to salvage the universities system from the direction it is facing at present.

Aides of the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the defeated Presidential candidate of CPC in 2011, Maj General Muhammad Buhari (rtd), yesterday said the confidence exuded by Bamanga Tukur that Jonathan will rule the country till 2019 when a young turk of northern extraction will take over from, is ploy to secure the votes of the region.

According to them, Maj Gen Buhari, who is being tipped to fly the flag of the APC, discovered before Tukur made his statement that the PDP and the presidency are working secretly to woo the former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, to succeed Jonathan in 2019.

This belief by the Buhari camp is an indication that they see 2015 a already going to Jonathan and betrays the defeatist tendency within their camp.

The game plan, one of the sources closed to Buhari, who pleaded anonymity, is to galvanise al-Mustapha to continue to mobilise the people of the North for the PDP.

"At payback time," another source explained, " the former CSO would first of all be made the runningmate of Jonathan or his next National Security Adviser (NSA), preparatory to succeeding his principal."

Some opinions in the North show that some political stalwarts believe that al-Mustapha's release was engineered by Jonathan for political reasons.

The ex-CSO was accused of complicity in the murder of Kudirat Abiola, the wife of the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, which was annulled by the military administration then in power.

Since his release, al-Mustapha, has been working closely with ex-Niger Delta militant leader, Mujahid Abubakar Asari Dokubo, to unite Nigerians and mobilise the youths for a yet-to-be stated purpose.

The litmus test of his political popularity was when he staged a rally in Kaduna, the political base of the incumbent Vice-President, Namadi Sambo, despite the latter's behind-the-scene effort to frustrate the gathering.

"We have information on what prompted Tukur to make the statement he made, and we are waiting to see how the deception will play out,"

One source said: "The political strength of Buhari in the North remains strong. I want you to know that much of the deliberations and planning for the registration of members of the APC is being done in his house here in Kaduna."

Equally, it was learnt that in a show of their political immaturity, the Buhari camp believe that the additional five PDP governors that would shift base to the new PDP, in addition to the current G7, would join the APC. Although all these calculations are no more relevant as the Rebel PDP are in a confused state.

THE TRUTH ABOUT GOVERNMENT’S POSITION ON ASUU STRIKE
*OKONJO-IWEALA IS NOT THE ISSUE

Contrary to some recent media reports, the Federal government has not adopted a take-it-or-leave-it approach in its negotiations with ASUU. Rather, the approach is focused on positive engagement and achieving sustainable solutions to the challenges facing higher education in the country. That is why President Goodluck Jonathan recently appealed to ASUU to respond to government’s positive steps by calling off its strike in the interest of suffering students and parents.

Despite this, for several days now, some elements in ASUU have been distributing pamphlets and flyers with abusive and inflammatory messages against the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in mosques and other places. This is taking academic unionism to a new low and infusing it with unnecessary politics. I am sure majority of ASUU members are not in support of this.

These messages are directed at using falsehood to demonize the Minister as callous and unsympathetic to the plight of students and parents. The major lie being peddled in the pamphlets and flyers is that Dr Okonjo-Iweala has insisted on a “take-it-or-leave-it approach” in the negotiations with ASUU. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Dr Okonjo-Iweala is the daughter of two retired professors and her father is presently a member of ASUU’s Board of Trustees and has been one for a long time. She speaks with her father everyday on the issue so how can be insensitive to issues concerning the sad state of tertiary education in the country? She understands and sympathizes with the plight of both students and lecturers. She wants our children back in school as soon as possible. Remember she is a mother and two of her young relatives are sitting at home due to the strike.

This is why government is working hard, under the leadership of the President, to seek practical and sustainable solutions to the challenges facing higher education in Nigeria. The President has made available N100 billion a year in the first instance to repair hostels, laboratories and classrooms and other facilities. An offer has also been made to ASUU of N30 billion towards their earned allowances. In fact, negotiations have even gone further than this. This is the first time, in years of negotiating with government, that significant sums of money have been put on the table for ASUU and universities on this particular set of issues. The Coordinating Minister is fully part of this.

Against this background, ASUU elements who want the strike to continue should have a heart and rethink their current take-it-or-leave-it approach to negotiation. Government has demonstrated its commitment to improving the university system. And it is even ready to do much more going forward. ASUU should listen to the voice of reason and the yearnings of Nigerians on this issue.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said plea of President Goodluck Jonathan was not enough to end the ongoing strike.

It said the only condition that will make the strike to be called off is for government to honour the 2009 agreements.

The Chairman of ASUU at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Prof. Adegbola Akinola, said this on Mondayduring the rally staged by members of the union.

Akinola said it was not necessary for the President to beg ASUU, rather he should honour the agreement reached with the union in 2009.

He said: " ASUU does not need any plea from Mr. President. We are not asking for impossible things; the Federal Government reached an agreement with us and we are asking them to honour it. It is so simple.

"Government should be honourable. Is it honourable not to honour an agreement? Certainly no. The Federal Government should not allow the public universities to continue to degenerate. Posterity will not forgive us if we allow public universities to totally collapse. The country has the resources to honour the agreement but education is not given priority."

He explained that the strike was not about members of the union but a means to force the government to do the right things saying children from poor background might no longer have access to university education if ASUU should succumb to the blackmail being employed against the union.

Akinola, who led the protest, appealed to the Federal Government to accede to ASUU’s demands to enable the union suspend the industrial action.

Addressing residents at Ooni Okunade Sijuwade’s palace, Akinola said the education sector deserved a better deal.

Also speaking, a member of the union, Prof. Gbolahan Babalola, said the education of Nigerian children was a more critical agenda.

Babalola said the protest was to show the concern of ASUU for undergraduates who had stayed at home for months.

He called on traditional rulers and other stakeholders to intervene to resolve the impasse.

The Sarun Oodua, Chief Adekola Adeyeye, who represented Sijuwade, commended ASUU over its peaceful conduct and show of concern for students.

Adeyeye said that the Ooni understood that education was the best legacy that any parent or government could bequeath to any Nigerian child.
He gave an assurance that the union's message would be relayed to the traditional ruler.

Tony Crank, senior pastor of One Love Church in Eugene, Ore., thinks church sucks.
A Eugene, Ore., pastor who thinks churches focus too much on sin and not enough on connecting people to God, is now trying to appeal to people who have been hurt by churches through a campaign called “Church Sucks” featuring shorter services and music by Katy Perry and Maroon 5 at his church, One Love.
“Some churches have become the kind of place where you point the finger, and you condemn and rebuke and you’re really quick to do it, and so I think that is definitely lending itself to people not wanting anything to do with church and thinking church sucks!” Tony Crank, senior pastor at the One Love Church in Eugene told KVAL.
Since September, One Love church has been mailing out their Church Sucks message to hundreds of homes in Lane County promising a different kind of church.
Among the differences, according to the report, are shorter services lasting just over half an hour, the mixing of modern and contemporary music from artists like Maroon 5 and Katie Perry with worship music, and a leader who is a pastor, not a preacher.
“I just like to have a conversation with everyone, just like I do at the coffee shop if we were talking one on one,” Crank told KVAL.
“There is a perception that to come into church you’ve got to be perfect. Sometimes what that allows people to do is to kind of judge people that we might perceive to not be that kind of stereotypical perfect person. It turns a lot of people off to what the ultimate message of Christ is,” said Kyle Cunningham, One Love Church’s worship pastor.
During his service on Sunday, Crank told his congregation, “don’t get your panties in a bunch” and talked about how his dog urinated on his mother during a recent visit to his home. He then connected that discussion to a message about the church being too quick to shame people for perceived sin.
In a discussion about Pastor Crank’s campaign, however, Beverly Miller told KVAL that the pastor’s complaint might be more about internal church disagreements than reaching people outside the body.
“I’ve never had a bad experience at church, but I could understand if people are maybe regular attenders and something erupts in the congregation,” said Miller.

God is good, especially if you’re a Nigerian pastor with some business savvy. These days, millions of souls, desperate for financial breakthroughs, miracles and healing, all rush to the church for redemption. And while the bible expressly states that salvation is free, at times it comes with a cost: offerings, tithes, gifts to spiritual leaders, and a directive to buy literature and other products created by men of God.
Pastors are no longer solely interested in getting people to Heaven; they’ve devised intelligent ways to make good money while reaching out to souls.
Take Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, for example. He is the founder and lead pastor of the Christ Embassy, a thriving congregation with branches in Nigeria, South Africa, London, Canada and the United States. His publishing company, Loveworld Publications, publishes ‘Rhapsody of Realities,’ a monthly devotional he co-authors with his wife. It sells over 2 million copies every month at $1 apiece. He also owns television stations, newspapers, magazines, a hotel, a fast-food chain, and more.
Many other Nigerian pastors are similarly building multi-million dollar empires from their churches. Today, pastors fly around in private jets, drive fancy cars like Daimlers, Porsches and BMWs, don Rolexes and Patek Phillipes, and own breathtaking mansions all over the world.
After the blog post I wrote in May about Nigerian pastors owning private jets, I was bombarded with emails from readers requesting to know the richest pastors in Nigeria. So I set out to investigate the assets of some of Nigeria’s most prominent pastors, and I came up with conservative estimates of their fortunes. I contacted representatives for all of the pastors and all except Matthew Ashimolowo’s representative confirmed ownership of the assets I list. Representatives for Pastor Ashimolowo did not respond to my emails.

Bishop David Oyedepo
Affiliation: Living Faith World Outreach Ministry, aka Winners Chapel
Estimated net worth: $190 million
David Oyedepo is Nigeria’s wealthiest preacher. Ever since he founded the Living Faith World Outreach Ministry in 1981, it has grown to become one of Africa’s largest congregations. The Faith Tabernacle, where he hosts three services every Sunday, is Africa’s largest worship center, with a seating capacity of 50,000. Oyedepo owns four private jets and homes in London and the United States. He also owns Dominion Publishing House, a thriving publishing company that publishes all his books (which are often centered on prosperity). He founded and owns Covenant University, one of Nigeria’s leading tertiary institutions, and Faith Academy, an elite high school.

Chris Oyakhilome
Church: Believers’ Loveworld Ministries, a.k.a Christ Embassy
Estimated net worth: $100 million – $120 million
Last year, the charismatic preacher was at the center of a $35 million money laundering case in which he was accused of siphoning funds from his church to foreign banks. Pastor Chris pleaded no wrongdoing and the case was eventually dismissed. His church, Christ Embassy, boasts more than 40,000 members, several of whom are successful business executives and politicians. Oyakhilome’s diversified interests include newspapers, magazines, a local television station, a record label, satellite TV, hotels and extensive real estate. His Loveworld TV Network is the first Christian network to broadcast from Africa to the rest of the world on a 24 hour basis.

Temitope Joshua
Estimated net worth: $60 million – $80 million
Nigeria’s most controversial clergyman is also one of its richest and most philanthropic. T.B Joshua heads the Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), a congregation he founded in 1987, which accommodates over 15,000 worshippers on Sundays. The Pastor has remained controversial for several years for his inexplicable powers to heal all sorts of difficult to cure diseases, including HIV/AIDS, cancer and paralysis. For miracle-craving worshippers, it’s the perfect seduction. The church currently has branches in Ghana, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Greece. In the past three years, he has given over $20 million to causes in education, healthcare and rehabilitation programs for former Niger Delta militants. He owns Emmanuel TV, a Christian television network, and was close friends with late Ghanaian President Atta Mills.

Matthew Ashimolowo
Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC)
Estimated net worth: $25 million – $50 million
In 1992, Foursquare Gospel Church, a Nigerian church, sent Ashimolowo to open a satellite branch in London. But Pastor Matthew had other ideas and decided to set up his own church instead. Today, his Kingsway International Christian Center is reportedly the largest Pentecostal church in the United Kingdom. In 2009, the church posted profits of close to $10 million and assets worth $40 million. Ashimolowo earns an annual salary of $200,000, but his real wealth comes from varied business interests including his media company, Matthew Ashimolowo media, which churns out Christian literature and documentaries. Ashimolowo’s representatives did not respond to a request confirming his net worth and ownership of all these assets.

Chris Okotie
Church: Household of God Church
Net worth: $15 million -$25 million
Pastor Okotie made his first success as a popular pop musician in the 80s. He found the light, embraced the bible and set up the Household of God Church, one of Nigeria’s most flamboyant congregations. His 5,000 member church consists predominantly of Nollywood celebrities, musicians, and society people. He contested and lost Nigerian presidential elections for the third time this year under the Fresh Party, a political party he founded and funds. An automobile lover, he owns a Mercedes S600, Hummer and Porsche among several others.

There are a million reasons why relationships end, but infidelity, bad timing and lack of chemistry are probably the most common. For whatever reason, ending a relationship is one of the most difficult actions you will ever have to take, and the longer the relationship lasts, the harder it gets. Unfortunately there is no easy way to break up with someone; there is a way to do it gracefully, with maturity and respect. Here are nine steps to help you end a relationship.

Acknowledge the problem
How do you know when your relationship has hit a dead-end? Sometimes the answer is obvious. Other times you may not be so sure. Here are some signs that it is time to end your relationship:
You always feel frustrated.
You find reasons to spend time apart.
You wish your relationship was more like the way it was in the beginning.
You changed your values, beliefs or goals to accommodate your partner with the hope that the relationship would get better. It didn’t.
You have drastically changed your appearance so that your partner will find you more attractive.
You have cut off close relationships with friends and family members to be with your partner.
You are being physically, emotionally or sexually abused.
If you and your partner are constantly fighting, if you don’t share the same beliefs or goals, and (especially) if you are being abused, it is time for your relationship to end. But what if you are stuck in a mediocre relationship? On a scale of 1-10, your relationship is a six. Should you risk what you already have in the hopes of finding something better? Only you can decide. But the bottom line is, a relationship should add to your quality of life, not taking away from it.

Make a decision.
Make sure that you assess the issue from a clear, rational perspective. Never make a decision when you feel angry. Take the time to consider the consequences of all your possible actions – especially if you have children together. Ending a marriage is not the same as breaking things off with a guy you’ve been seeing casually for a few months. Whatever you choose to do, you must be confident in your decision.

Find a neutral setting.
The best place to have “the talk” is a private, neutral setting. Find someplace where the two of you will have the privacy to freely express yourselves and show your emotions. Restaurants and other public places are generally a bad idea. The last thing you want is your partner weeping, yelling or calling you names in front of a live audience.
On the other hand, if you are afraid that your partner may react violently, definitely end your relationship in a public setting where you can call for help if necessary.

Choose your words carefully.
Start by letting your partner know how much you value the good parts of your relationship. Maybe, he is a great listener. Maybe he has a killer sense of humour. Tell him how much you’ve gained or learned from your relationship. Go above and beyond the standard by saying something like, “You’re a great guy, but…” or, “It’s not you, it’s me.” Tell him something genuine and from the heart that he can remember and, hopefully, find comfort in later.

Prepare for backlash.
Your partner may be so devastated by your break-up that his only recourse is to hurt you in return. It’s an immature reaction, but we’re all human. If your partner starts throwing out verbal and emotional slings and arrows, resist the temptation to fire back. Understand that he is only trying to hurt you because he feels hurt. Be the bigger person and hold your tongue. If that doesn’t work, just walk away.

Don’t blame yourself.
You are ending your relationship because it is the best move to make for both of you. If you are addressing the situation honestly, without placing blame or judgment on your partner, there is no reason to feel guilty. You are attempting to end the relationship as painlessly as possible. But the truth is, his feelings will probably be hurt. Just know you are not obligated to take responsibility for his feelings. All you can do is be honest with him and with yourself. In the end, you have to do the right thing.

Make a clean break.
A few days, weeks or even months after your break up, you may start to reminisce about your ex-partner. You may start thinking about all the good times you had, or wonder what he is up to. These are normal and natural feelings, but it is important not to act on them. There is a reason why you ended the relationship in the first place, and starting things up again will only reopen old wounds. Keep your distance, at least for a few months, until you can get back on your feet. And no matter what, do not drink and dial. Booty calls are strictly off limits.

Allow yourself grieving time.
Ending a relationship means losing a person who used to be a significant part of your life. Even if you are the one breaking it off, the loss is bound to hurt. Allow yourself to feel the sadness and grief that naturally accompanies a break-up. These emotions are nothing to be ashamed of and signify the real feelings you once had for another.
When you end a relationship, you may feel as if you’ve lost a part of yourself. Understand that this feeling will go away in time. Until then it is important to let go of the past and learn from your mistakes. Breaking up with someone doesn’t make you a bad person. It makes you honest and uncompromising about who you are and what you want out of life and love.

Do you fight fair?
No relationship is perfect, and at some point you’re going to have a confrontation with a coworker, neighbor or someone you love. Disagreements can be a way to respectfully voice your opinion and carefully consider the other person’s thoughts - or they can be an all-out, name-calling fiasco.
