PoliticsDiaspora Nigerians Ask ICC To Prosecute Junaid Mohammed by TeaParty(op): 3:38am On Dec 06, 2013
Nigerians in the U.S have condemned Dr Junaid Mohammed, a former federal legislator who in a recent interview he granted a popular newspaper, said there would be bloodshed in the streets of Nigeria if President Goodluck Jonathan decides to run for a second term in 2015.

In a statement circulated to the media in New York by Dr Ewa Ewa, chairman African Political Action Committee and President Nigerian American Forum, the International Criminal Court was asked to take note of Mohammed’s eventual prosecution in the event he carried out his threats.

Mohammed, a former member of the House of Representatives had last Sunday told The Sun: “Quote me, if Jonathan insists on running, there will be bloodshed and those who feel short-changed may take the warpath and the country may not be the same again. His running will amount to taking about 85 million northerners for a ride and that is half of the country’s total population. So, there will be bloodshed. But we don’t pray to get to that level, before his ethnic and tribal advisers pull him back” .

The essence of the publication by punch is to show the state government what is happening in the state know as a constructive criticism and the best reaction is to make an immediate correction and solution not only to the school but also to other schools in such condition. Not suspending the school principal.

We were all here reading the news and viewing the pictures and video of the bad condition of the nigerian police college in Ikeja by the channels tv. The next thing the President did was to visit the college and promised to do something and not suspending or querying the head of the school.

IMPRESSED by their feat, the Imo State House of Assembly has invited the two school children from Okigwe, Masters Gideon Emenike and Kingsley Nwofor, to the Assembly Tuesday for special recognition.

PoliticsHijab: Youths Attack Osun School, Beat Up Principal by TeaParty(op): 4:15am On Nov 26, 2013
The new education policy in Osun State claimed its first casualty on Monday as fierce-looking Muslim youths invaded the Baptist High School, Ejigbo, and beat up the students and teachers.

The principal of the school, Mr. Layi Oguntola, was thoroughly beaten and injured. Oguntola, as of the time of this report, was said to be receiving treatment at the Baptist Medical Centre, Ejigbo.

The attackers said they came because the school authorities stopped some Muslim pupils from wearing the hijab.

The hijab is a scarf that covers the head and chest, specially worn by a Muslim female.

Our correspondent learnt that the attackers stormed the school while the students were already seated in their classrooms.

They were said to have headed straight for the Principal’s Office and asked Oguntola to apologise for sending the hijab-wearing students away from school but the principal refused to do so.

There have been protests when the Governor Rauf Aregbesola administration recently introduced a new education policy, which entails merger and reclassification of schools in the state.

The Baptist conference specifically said it would not allow hijab-wearing students in its schools.

On Monday, the attacked students and teachers were said to have run for refuge at the palace of the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyesosin. The monarch was also said to have been instrumental to the rescue of the wounded principal from the attackers, made up of mostly youths.

The attack forced the Baptist High School and other schools in the town to close abruptly for the day as police were deployed in the town to forestall reprisal.

Some Muslim students of the school were said to have been turned back last week for wearing hijab on their uniforms and their parents were said to have reported the case to members of an Islamic sect in the town.

Tension started building in the town following the attack and the speculations that the attackers were also planning to set ablaze the United Baptist Church, close to the school.

Some Christian youths were also said to have mobilised to defend the church.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Folasade Odoro, when contacted, said she would find out the details of the incident and get back to our correspondent.

Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sunday Akere, confirmed the incident, which he described as an unfortunate one.

He appealed to the people of the state to shun violence, saying the state government in collaboration with security agencies would investigate and get to the root of the matter.

He said, “It is unfortunate that this happened at a time when we are already achieving peace in the area of schools reclassification.

“We are calling on all religious leaders and stakeholders to refrain from taking steps which could lead to the breakdown of law and order.”

PoliticsJonathan To Commission Enugu Plant by TeaParty(op): 5:43am On Nov 23, 2013
ALL is now set for the commissioning of the multi-million naira ultra modern integrated air conditioner and water dispenser manufacturing plant located in Enugu State.

The plant, 100 per cent Nigerian owned and the first in South-East and South-South geo-political zones of the country with a capacity of employing over 200 persons will be commissioned by President Goodluck Jonathan on December 6.

The President will also lay the foundation stone for two other industries – a PVC manufacturing plant and LCD/LED assembly plant, all located within the premises of the company, tagged, “White Horse Industrial City.”

Managing Director, White Horse General Appliances Limited, Chika Joseph Okechukwu, told journalists yesterday that the company sitting on 100 acres of land was a fulfillment of a dream that started in 2007, when the foundation stone of the place was laid by the then Enugu State Governor Sullivan Chime.

He said, “The entire master plan is going to be an industrial city called the “White Horse Industrial City,” where all the products we have on our catalogue and other ones that are not there are manufactured and assembled at the same time. For example, we have refrigerators, and we are going to build the plant here. We have a bottling company for water and beverages. We have one of the best water here, which is the same, the Henkel plant and 7up are using. It will be a small city.”

Okechukwu said that he decided to site the industry in Egede, Enugu State based on a number of higher institutions turning out graduates in the state, adding that when all the units of the area come on stream, it would employ about 1000 workers.

He called on governments in the country to continue to encourage local industries by way of patronising their products, saying it was the only way they could survive and boost employment.

My prayers for Mr Wilfred Jibril and his entire family, may your life be dealt with the same way PDP ran Nigeria in the last 14 years. Amen!

Rubbish! You don't expect to do things the same way all the time and expect different results. That is why PDP has to go for Nigeria to rise again. We have tested PDP for 14 years and we have been worse for it. Power failure, insecurity, lack of food security, poor air safety, poor education sector, graft/corruption, oil subsidy scam, terrorism (MEND/Boko Haram), election rigging, mal-administration are what we've got from PDP since 1999. Singling out Oshiohmole as the only performer of all the AC/APC Governors is fallacy. Fashola is the best Governor to ever govern Lagos. Amosun (Ogun), Aregbe (Oshun), Oshiohmole (Edo), Rochas (Imo), Ajumobi (Oyo) and Fayemi (Ekiti) have performed creditably when compared to what PDP led Governors left in Oshun, Ekiti, Ogun, EDO, and Imo. I am not going to say these APC Governors are saints but they have out performed PDP led Governors they took over from. What legacies did Oyinlola, Daniel, Akala, Igbinedion, Oni etc leave in their respective states before they were voted out?

Going by what these AC/APC Governors have done so far, one has to conclude that APC should be given the chance to lead us from 2015. If you vote PDP again, then your hardship shall continue enmass because hardship is what PDP brings to the table.

You cannot treat a sickness without first knowing the name of the sickness and the root cause of it. You cannot have a free, fair election as you desired without Nigerians coming together to layout a plan of how that can be achieved. Nigerians have done elections for years and after which the result has been problematic, no politician in Nigeria is ready to accept a defeat. They will be in court until the next election and that is what you Tinubu want Nigerians to continue to go through? Anybody that says evil thing about this idea of national conference must be regarded as number one enemy of Nigeria, simple.

Everywhere in the world….villages, towns, hamlets, cities, people groups are asking for autonomy to enable them take charge of their affairs and develop at their own pace. For instance Bosnia Herzegovina has a population of less than 4million but today they are a country of people governing themselves and making progress in various areas of human endeavor.

To the best of my knowledge all Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani States claim a population of over 4million each. Yet they are very scared and very unwilling to agree to the restructuring of Nigeria so that each geo-political zone can take care of its affairs and develop at their own pace.

Just mention the word Sovereign National Conference and you will find these Governors, the Emirs, the Sultan, the Arewa Consultative Forum, and the Northern Elders Forum - all of them shivering like dogs with their tails between their legs.

Instead of making it an issue and a strive for power to return to the Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani in 2015 ….. the Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani should be asking for the restructuring of Nigeria in a way that enables them to enjoy autonomy and develop at their own pace with one of their own (preferably Buhari or Sule Lamido) as their leader. That way the power they are clamoring for will remain with them forever ….. in their geo-political zone, from their geo-political zone and for their geo-political zone. ...... makes more sense than the entire "New PDP", PDM & APC crisis.

PoliticsRe: Bauchi To Build 140MW Power Plant by TeaParty: 4:21am On Oct 13, 2013
Stop drinking cow urine for breakfast. It makes you sound a bit more daft than you were yesterday.

Gbawe.:
Too many factors buddy and this is why we should not sit here like fraudulent illiterates, including a so-called "medical Doctor", disgracing Nigeria with utterances that would even shame the worst laymen.

(1)Equipment supply and installation cost (i.e sourcing component parts from the USA rather than the UK may increase transport cost to site.)
(2)Fuel type obviously affecting choice and quantity of equipment required.
(3)Cost of getting fuel to the plant i.e distance covered.
(4)Economies of scale.
(5)Sites costs (direct purchase, compensation, lease plan, etc).
(6)provision for waste disposal.
(7)Structural and civil cost.
(8 ) Indirect costs.
Etc, etc, etc, etc.

Point being that we should not make uninformed assumption , especially when not power generation experts or Engineers, to then ignorantly and arbitrarily say what is "high" or "acceptable" based on anything other than a solid breakdown of cost. Involving sentiments and simplistic reasoning to infer all IPPs must have a standard cost per MW is one of the the most senseless thing I have ever heard.

It is not the sort of argument any educated person should make. Ultimately, the point is that the Lagos and Bauchi IPP both fall within what is accepted today as justifiable per MW cost for power generation. Anyone seeking to claim impropriety should endeavour to do so with more than uniformed, ignorantly pedestrian and sentimental reasoning.
