celebgistz: The U.S. government has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election.
Mr Buhari of the All Progressives Congress defeated Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party to win the presidential election. Mr Abubakar and the PDP have, however, alleged fraud and vowed to challenge the result in court.
In its statement by Michael Pompeo, the Secretary of State, the U.S. said it “congratulates the people of Nigeria on a successful presidential election, and President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election.”
“We commend all those Nigerians who participated peacefully in the election and condemn those whose acts of violence harmed Nigerians and the electoral process.
“We note the assessments of international and domestic observer missions affirming the overall credibility of the election, despite localized violence and irregularities.
“We also congratulate all the other candidates for their peaceful participation in the electoral process. We call on all Nigerians to ensure successful state elections next week.
“Going forward, the United States remains committed to working together with Nigeria to achieve greater peace and prosperity for both our nations.”

Politics › Re: You Must Accept Defeat. PDP To Buhari. by Techkidz(m): 6:28am On Feb 24, 2019 |
baliyubla: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop whining over their “rejection” in the presidential election and quietly accept the will of the people.
The party said the APC and agents of the Buhari Presidency, were bewildered by defeat and thus plotting to discredit the votes which the opposition party sad Nigerians freely delivered to its candidate, Atiku Abubakar at their polling units.
A statement last night by the spokesman for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, said part of alleged plot is to trigger mayhem and burn down Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices in order to destroy all evidence of poll results.
The statement said, “The PDP reminds President Buhari and the APC that the polling unit is the foundation of the election and all our agents and supporters already have the results in all the polling centers and voting points across the country.
“As such, our party is holding strongly to our results as already delivered by the people at the polling units and such cannot be altered.
“The PDP, therefore, counsels President Buhari and his APC to respect the will of the people and accept the verdict of the election. It is not for President Buhari to direct his campaign spokesperson to tell Nigerians that no party should rejoice.
“For us in the PDP, we already have the figures and we are aware that Nigerians in their resolve and consensus have settled their votes in favour of the people’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as the next President of our country.
“President Buhari should be prepared to take his defeat in good faith. After all, he will not be the first sitting President to lose in an election”.

fergie001: The wife of the president Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has asked Nigerians as they go to the polls on Saturday, to decide whether the poor should become poorer and the rich richer or a society where the gap begins to be reduced.
She stated this on Thursday while presenting empowerment packs to 1,250 women and youths from the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.
In a statement by her media adviser Adebisi, Olumide Ajayi, quoted Mrs. Buhari, as saying that poverty is one of the indices that encourage people to embrace vices like terrorism, kidnapping, and begging.
Earlier, the Director-General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Dr. Nasir, Mohammed Argungu, disclosed since 2014, the revenue allocation to the agency had not changed.
However, the agency was able to train 861,234 women and youths from 2015 to date, compared to 4,832 trained in 2014/15
The programme was organised by NDE in collaboration with The Future Assured initiative of the wife of the president and Defence and Police officers Wives Association (DEPOWA)
The beneficiaries who were drawn from the six local government areas of Abuja went home with cosmetology-starter packs worth N40.000 cash.
