Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai on Wednesday shared copies of the primary four exam questions failed by 21,780 out of 33,000 teachers in the state.


Mr. El-Rufai posted the questions on Twitter with the caption: “Excerpts of the Primary Four 'competency test' questions massively failed by Kaduna State Teachers. Now, You be the judge.

“If a teacher fails to score at least 75% in this primary 4 competency test, is he or she qualified to teach? Answer sincerely.”

The exam was administered to test their competence by the state government.


The state is now shopping for 25,000 new teachers as one of the plans to restore dignity and quality to education.

The Governor unveiled the planned recruitment when he received a World Bank’s delegation in Kaduna on Monday.

“We tested our 33,000 primary school teachers, we gave them primary four examination and required they must get at least 75 per cent but I am sad to announce that 66 per cent of them failed to get the requirements.

“The hiring of teachers in the past was politicized and we intend to change that by bringing in young and qualified primary school teachers to restore the dignity of education in the state,” the governor said.

The outbreak of monkeypox which was reported by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control dominated searches on Internet search engine, Google, this week, NAN reports.

Google’s Spokesman, Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, on Thursday in Lagos said the week’s top trending search terms on Google Nigeria are dominated by national news.

He stated that “the NCDC recently stated that the first case of monkeypox was reported on Sept. 22 in Bayelsa.

“As at Monday 31, other suspected cases had been reported across seven states including Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun and Cross River.

“The Chief Executive Officer of NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, said in a statement that the centre had activated an emergency operation centre to coordinate investigation into the outbreak and also workout appropriate preventive measures across affected states.

“Concerned Nigerians raced to Google to search for information on causes, symptoms and prevention of the disease.”

Kola-Ogunlade said Nigerians bid farewell this week to former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Victor Malu, who died in a hospital in Cairo on Oct. 9.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari, in a condolence message, noted that Malu demonstrated incredible courage and leadership during his reign as chief of army staff and even in his retirement.

“Well-wishers visited Google to read more about Malu’s achievements,’’ Kola-Ogunlade said.

The Google manager said that in the world of sports, football lovers celebrated Nigeria’s 1- 0 win over Zambia during the third round of the World Cup qualifiers match held on Oct.7 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

He added that the win qualified Super Eagles for FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The Google spokesman said “Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, expressed excitement about the World Cup qualification.

“This saw excited fans racing to Google search to get more details about the match,’’ he said.

Kola-Ogunlade said University of Lagos suspension rumour also got people’s attention online.

He noted that the management of the university had condemned rumours that they suspended a final year student of the institution for dancing with the statue of a former vice-chancellor.

He added that students of the institution posted a video on social media of a 400 level student from Faculty of Arts dancing with a statue of former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adetokunbo Sofoluwe.

“Nigerians reacted negatively to the video, which went viral. This sparked rumours that the student involved was rusticated from the university.

“Concerned citizens raced to Google to get updated information about the situation.”

Google Trends launched in May 2006 allows one to see how popular search terms and its demography have been over time on Google.

Lions are ferocious animals. They are carnivores and feed on meat. So human flesh is a treat to them. There are often news about lions killing people. Lions that are kept in the zoo are fed with meat and kept in special cages so that they don’t come in contact with human flesh.

But these animals are hunters and keeping them in cage rises their urge to hunt and find their prey. So, this guy jumped into the lions cage and they tore him into pieces.



The zoo director Zoo Director Miss Alejandra Montalva said that we thought this man came here to visit the zoo. Later on, he went into the lions’ cage and took off his clothes. When the loins attacked him, he started performing religious recites.
Franco Luis Ferrada Roman, a 20-years old boy, decided to get naked and jump into the cage at Santiago Zoo. There were a lot of people in the crowd who started capturing an images of that heart touching incident.

Shakira and her footballer boyfriend Gerard Pique have been hit by split claims.

According to new reports the two are longer living together, with Colombian superstar Shakira the one to instigate the split.

'It's something serious and she has been the one who has finally made the decision,' a source told Spanish websiteCotilleo.

The source added that singer Shakira, who has two young sons with her Spanish footballer beau of six years, 'could no longer cope with the situation.’

The report follows weeks of speculation about the pair's relationship status in the Colombian press.

The couple were last seen together in Argentina in June at the wedding of Gerard's former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi to his childhood sweetheart Antonella Roccuzzo.

Shakira, 40, has four-year-old Milan and two-year-old Sasha with Gerard, 30.

The reported split comes amid professional trouble for Gerard, who was booed by fans when he turned out for the Spanish national team on Monday.

The negative reaction came after the Barcelona-born sportsman tweeted his support for Catalan independence, following this week's controversial referendum.

A lady identified as Ilerioluwa has been arrested at Ogudu, Lagos, for allegedly cutting off her neighbor, Suleman Babangida’s tongue.

Incident reportedly happened last Thursday, October 5th around midnight. Ilerioluwa allegedly did it for rituals.


The victim Babangida, while narrating how he was attacked, said:

“It was around 11:30pm when I came back home. Then when I was about to go and urinate at the bathroom, all of a sudden I just saw this lady that I usually call Ilerioluwa, at my back inside the bathroom.

I was like sister Ileri what’s happening, all of a sudden, she just choked my neck and I could not have the strength to scream out extremely. All I could see next was that my tongue had been cut down.”

Ileri was later arrested and the tongue retrieved from her. According to Babangida, she is currently being detained at the Kirikiri prison, after appearing in court on Friday.

Regarding his current condition, Babangida said:

“Right now I can’t even eat or take something. I am in pain. The tongue can’t be reattached any longer. I’m not in any relationship with Ileri.
I respected her a lot and took her like a sister. She has nothing to say about what she did to me. The case has been adjourned till the 16th of this month.”

The family home of Power Dynamos striker Alex N’gonga, in Chimwemwe in Kitwe has been attacked by thugs following Zambia’s 1-0 defeat to Nigeria in their 2018 World Cup qualifier match in Uyo on Saturday.

According to Zambian Observe, Copperbelt province police commissioner Charity Katanga says a group of people emerged from a white Toyota Landcruiser ACC 5492 and maliciously damaged two roofing sheets with stones.

Katanga says the group accused N’gonga of missing scoring chances that crashed Zambia’s hopes of qualifying to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

She said police had launched a manhunt and a case of malicious damage to property has been opened.

N’gonga’s mother Charity told Muvi TV news that she feared for her life when she heard another person threaten to destroy the house completely.

Nigeria became the first African team to qualify for the global showpiece courtesy of Alex Iwobi’s second half strike at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Some students of the Federal Polytechnics Ado Ekiti, in Ekiti State are currently burning the school health center after a student died in the health center.



Our correspondent gathered that the students went on rampage after a final year student of Estate Management who was sick was taken to the clinic and died due to the negligence of the health center workers.



The deceased identified as Marshal was said to be the head of Man’O war of the institution.
The school has also been shut down till further notice

These are the heartbreaking photos showing the inside of a nursery where six children and their teacher were burned alive after being sprayed by alcohol.

It will be recalled that they were murdered by a security guard at the school who set them on fire before dying from his own injuries.

According to Metro UK, the tragedy happened at the Innocent People nursery in Janauba, a city in Brazil. Four children died at the scene while another two succumbed to their injuries at hospital.




Around 50 people were taken to hospital, 10 of them were in a serious condition and the mayor has decreed seven days of mourning.

The guard, who was aged about 50 and identified as Damiao Soares, died in hospital several hours after the incident, which left him with burns all over his body, Bruno Ataide Santos, director of the local hospital, said

About 80 children were in the nursery school when the attack occurred, prompting terrified parents to rush to the school, where they found one classroom reduced to ashes.



‘As the creche is near our house we heard noise and rushed over,’ Nelson de Jesus Silva, the father of one victim, told Globonews TV.
‘My little girl was so good, so smart,’ he said of his dead daughter Ana Clara Ferreira. Grief also struck Jane Kelly, the mother of Juan Miguel Soares.
‘I was thinking of changing nursery schools because we are preparing to move. I woke him up early to bring him here and when I saw him again he was dead in the hospital,’ Kelly said between sobs.

The dead children were aged four, the G1 news site reported.

Police visited the home of the suspect and his family members to try to determine a motive. But police superintendent Renato Nunes told the website of the Hoje em Dia newspaper that the guard had had mental health problems since 2014.


An injured pupil being rolled away

The guard had worked nights for at least eight years at the nursery school, where he was not directly in contact with the children.

Janauba’s mayor Carlos Isaildon Mendes said an even greater tragedy was narrowly averted.
‘This could have been worse because the babies’ room was in the hall next door. Evacuation would have been more difficult. As the children were bigger a lot of them were able to escape,’ the mayor explained.

Police searched the guard’s home and found many jugs of alcohol. He reportedly told his family this week – which includes the anniversary of the death of his father – that he was going to give a ‘gift’ to them and that he would die. Brazil’s President Michel Temer expressed his condolences on Twitter.

‘I am deeply saddened by this tragedy involving children in Janauba, and I want to express my solidarity with the families,’ Temer wrote.

As the father of a school-age child, Temer said he understood ‘this must be an extremely painful loss’ for the parents.

Marilou Danley, the girlfriend of Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock, said that when Paddock wired her $100,000 in the Philippines, she thought he was breaking up with her.

The admission came as part of a statement delivered by her attorney on Wednesday, after the FBI interviewed Danley as part of its investigation into the deadly shooting on Sunday.

"A little more than two weeks ago Stephen told me he had found a cheap ticket for me to the Philippines and that he wanted me to take a trip home to see my family," Danley said in the statement.

She continued: "Like all Filipinos abroad, I was excited to go home and see family and friends. While there, he wired me money, which he said was for me to buy a house for me and my family. I was grateful, but honestly I was worried at first that the unexpected trip home and then the money was a way of breaking up with me."

Danley said she hadn't perceived any indication that Paddock was planning to commit a mass shooting, adding she was "devastated" for those who were killed or hurt in the shooting.

In an interview that aired on Australian TV on Wednesday, two of Danley's sisters also insisted Danley had no knowledge of the shooting.

"I know that she don't know anything," one of the women told Channel 7. "She was sent away so that she will be not there to interfere with what he's planning."

Danley pledged to cooperate fully with the FBI and Las Vegas Police Department as they investigate the shooting, which left 58 people dead and nearly 500 injured.
