Unbiased1: iPhone is only oga in pumping out high Geekbench scores and sending up to 6 years OS and Security updates, other than those, iPhone is never and can never be an OGA over Samsung.
On normal usage, iPhone and other flagship Android devices perform in a similar manner, even Samsung phones open apps at similar speed with the iPhone 13 Pro Max despite the iPhone having a processor that has better performance.
The Samsung S21's screen has better colour accuracy than that of any iPhone ever created and it has a better resolution at 1440p and and much higher pixel density.
The internet speed of the Samsung S21 ultra is higher than that of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, you can confirm that yourself by checking the upload and download speeds of both devices using the same network provider.
The Samsung devices with the Snapdragon processor provide similar camera performance and the Samsung 22 Ultra can be considered as a better camera device than the iPhone. It shoots better portraits than the iPhone 13 Pro Max in both daylight and low light conditions, the selfie pictures are sharper than what you get from the iPhone, the Samsung handles exposure better especially in highly bright environment where iPhone has always failed to perform or do you want to compare both phones in a Zoom test? Samsung will destroy iPhone in any zoom test. You can check out comparisons on YouTube to see for yourself. The Samsung S21 and S22 can shoot a clear and visible shot of the moon at night and handle the light coming from the moon perfectly. No iPhone ever created can see the moon clearly. What of low light? The iPhone still struggles to put up a good fight. iPhone only takes better videos than other phones which is a title they are definitely going lose this year. The newly launched Pixel 6a, even when shooting at 1080p, managed to capture the clouds and provide better colour accuracy than the 4k video of the iPhone 13 Pro Max on a sunny day. I would have posted the link to the camera comparison here if only Nairaland's bot would not delete this post.
Lets us talk about build quality. Anybody who says the iPhone has a better build quality than the Samsung is just deceiving himself/herself. The conditions that will destroy the screen of the Samsung will also destroy that of the iPhone. The Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the Samsung S21 and S22 is comparable to the ceramic back on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The only reason why the Samsung's front glass tends to have longer cracks when dropped from the same height with the iPhone is because of the stylish curved Amoled screen on the Samsung which means a larger surface area of the screen will make contact with ground when the Samsung is dropped from a reasonable height compared to the flat screen on the iPhone that is fully protected by the iPhone's frame.
Lets talk about RAM management. Due to how iSO is designed to be highly optimised to run with the bionic processor in the iPhone as well as the highly optimised apps that are created for iOS, iPhone devices tend to require less RAM to store as much information as a similar Android device but Android phone companies have fully compensated for that by providing much higher RAM that is why you see Samsung phones coming with up to 12GB RAM and even ASUS coming with 16gb RAM. As we speak, the iPhone 13 Pro Max does not have better RAM management than the Google Pixel 6 Pro talkless of the Samsung S22 Ultra that has a higher RAM than the Pixel.
What of battery charging speed? Android devices, especially those from Xiaomi, Realme and Oppo can charge from 0 to 100% in just 30 mins or less compared to the nonsense we still get from iPhone that takes over 1 hour 30 min to fully charge. I can simply place my earbud on my Android phone and my phone will use reverse wireless charging to recharge my earbud. I can even get up to 15 watts reverse wireless charge with an Android device.
Lets even talk about random things like Screen refresh rate where I get 120hz refresh rate even with some Midrange Android devices like Xiaomi's Redmi devices when iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini still have 60hz. The lightning port that iPhones used to come with are now being rejected across the world as all smartphone companies are expected to use USB type C. Lets say I'm a camera freak, do you think I would pick an iPhone 13 Pro Max of over 1000 dollars when there is a Google Pixel 6a of less than 500 dollars that has similar camera quality despite having a lower hardware? The iPhone 13 Pro Max could not even produce better skin colour than the midrange Google Pixel 6a and you dare say Apple makes better phones than Android companies? Look at the nonsense iPhone SE they have been launching that does not even have night sight technology integrated into its camera app. You've made some valid points while many points are bias. Iphones have poor RAM management? I have used the best of Android devices and none of them took me back to the exact point where I left an app running. I never close any app, and every time I open apps I used in the last day, I am welcomed by the page I was before I minimized the app. How do you define "good ram management"? Talking about durability, build quality and overall premium feel; kindly mention one Samsung device that has stainless steel used in its build. Even the almighty S22 Ultra rocks an aluminum frame. You gave an excuse that Samsung phones with curved screen tend to crack faster because of the way they're built to give nice aesthetics to the phone. This would mean that Samsung chose aesthetics over durability, which would be a win for the iphone 13 Pro Max. About the USB type C, I honestly prefer the lightening port on iphones, because it allows for easy cleaning of your phone's charging port, without the fear of breaking anything. The EU is just trying to curb Apple's monopoly, while ensuring that users can easily use other accessories with their iphones. Samsung has their wins and Apple has theirs. Let's not say that one device is inferior |

Engrgibbs: How can you say the battery on the iPhone 13 is better than that on S22 ultra.. The video quality and Pictures quality on S22 ultra beats that of IPhone 13 pro max hands down... Only the Potrait mode on iPhone 13 pro max is better than that of S22 ultra.. Bro, if you're familiar with both phones, you'll know that the iphone 13 Pro Max's battery life is way better. Iphone wins the video game too. These two aren't news to anyone, bro. |

Buzx: That it was released last year doesn't mean anything. The S22U was released Feb this year and the 13 pro max, September last year, but they're direct rivals. As we speak, both companies have already started developing their next flagship devices and will be released at different times, so the date doesn't really matter. Sure. But we can all agree that one company went all the way to arm their devices with the best processor and GPU, yeah? Now let's respect that and agree that iPhones aren't as overhyped as most people claim. |

1x2x3: If you haven't handled both phones side by side to make these comparism you won't get it. You are talking about zoom, who takes a normal photoshoot with zoom? Why did you skip the important use case like night shots? you need to see S22 Ultra night mood.
Again you mentioned 8K . What's the use of 8K and 4K to normal user? You see YouTubers recording 8K and 4K videos, they all have I phones but when the time for shooting comes, they would go for proper digital cameras. So when talking about phones, talk about what's important to everyday user. I have handled both phones and I know what I'm talking about. I didn't say you take a picture with zoom; I clearly mentioned to take the pictures on each phone's main lens (1x). Samsung phones often have this smoothening and watercolor effect and lose details when you zoom-in on a picture you thought was sharp and nice; iPhone does better at retaining details in pictures when you zoom them in. Whether you're recording in 1080P, 4k or any other K, iPhone has always won that race. It's not even news. It's not about what resolution you're recording on right now. So far you have mentioned night mode, which, of course, the Samsung wins at; but I have mentioned many departments where I believe that the iPhone is a better phone. Do you have anything to counter these things I mentioned, apart from having a better night mode, better when and reverse wireless charge? That the Samsung S22 Ultra performance gets beaten by the iPhone 13 Pro Max's A15 Bionic is quite pitiable, since the 13PM was released last year. |

1x2x3: A friend of mine uses iPhone 13 Pro Max, while I use S22 Ultra, she handed me her phone to snap her so I took a few shots before switching to my Samsung.......I took just one shot and I saw how inferior she felt seeing the picture quality on Samsung . Do me a favor: take a picture with both phones' camera main lenses (1x), then zoom it in and share the results. Or try recording a video with both phones and compare. To make things even interesting: record an 8k video on your Samsung and compare it with the iPhone's 4k video. You might end up having a different opinion. |

Engrgibbs: All those over hyped phone.. Samsung S22 ultra over Iphone 13 promax any day any time I respect your decision of picking the Samsung S22 Ultra over the iPhone 13 Pro Max; however, the 13 Pro Max isn't overrated. iPhone 13 Pro Max, although being Apple's last year flagship device, packs a stronger processor than the Samsung S22 Ultra; let's not even try comparing battery lives of both phones. Also, there's better speaker quality, better build on the iPhone and face unlock, for me, is way more convenient than using a fingerprint scanner. If you own more than one Apple device, you enjoy Apple's unmatched ecosystem. Finally, the iPhone 13 Pro Max video recording beasts the S22 ultra any day. See it's not overhyped? But I guess everyone has what works best for them. |

Enddy50ty: Meaning say sometimes the touch pad go work, sometimes e no go work. But say that na the only thing wey dey worry the phone. Not exactly. The touch pad works all the time. At times, it may start pressing by itself for a few seconds and then stop (or you could stop it by locking and unlocking the phone). Most Redmi note 9 series users witness this when they use screen guard |

emeraldlife: By Developers in this context, I mean android/Samsung fans who want the latest and greatest android software on their device irrespective of how old the device is.
Secondly, most OEMs/phone manufacturers do not use exynos not because it does not perform but because of Snapdragon patents and royalty not in FRAND. Snapdragon developed a technology in their chip (I think CDMA, I can't remember) that forces other OEMs to rely on SD especially on devices sold in the US.
Your claim that none of the OEMs is using exynos chipsets is false and misleading. Vivo is still using exynos chipsets. Those devices won't be available for the US market. Xiaomi and Oppo with their subsidiaries are signing agreements to have exynos chipsets for markets outside China and the US because of the void creates by Huawei.
Again, Snapdragon is not better in every way. Better in sustained performance not overall.
I know u like iPhones. Everyone's got his/her favourite brand. Here, I am only referring to chipsets that power everything on android. I think Jailbreaking is a term in android that means having root privileges. Bro, u can have custom ROM on your device without rooting it. What I was implying is getting rid of the bloated OneUI features and using less feature-rich custom android os like pixel from google These are some solid arguments here and I must say, you did your homework. I like Iphones just as much as I like Android devices; however, I use each of these devices based on how innovative I find them - I'm not a brand loyalist. About SD adding a feature that "forces" people to use their chipsets, I think it's not entirely true. People still use Kirin, MTK, etc in the US. About the CDMA thingy, this is only for people who use AT&T, I think. If you've seen the recent iPhone 12 and 13 series, you'll discover that some have some special 5G sensors on their sides to enable them be compatible with the aforementioned networks. Finally, I'm a little rusty and so curious to know how possible it is to install a custom ROM without rooting? I thought you'd be unlocking the bootloader and installing Magisk |
Phones › Re: Iphone Overhype, Don't Waste Ur Money by tecnolad(m): 12:11pm On Jul 11, 2022 |
emeraldlife: I bet you've not used any exynos powered premium devices from Samsung.
Granted in benchmark, Snapdragon always come out the better of the chipsets. In reality, they are both the same except in sustained performance as exynos tends to heat up.
Again, exynos chipsets offers better supports for developers and android fans. If you want to know how fast your s21 ultra (exynos version) is try custom ROM on it Exynos gives better support for developers and Android fans? No wonder all mobile manufacturers are using them. There's no reason to use Exynos when Snapdragon is better in almost every way, except you want double SIM features. Talking about Custom ROMs; if I told anyone that "for you to enjoy Iphone to its maximum, jailbreak it," it would sound ridiculous to many. While I get your point and it's valid; why would one wants to go through bootloader unlocking, rooting and using custom ROM on a phone that expensive? |
