Robert129: 🤣 Samsung pulled an Apple move and they've got support. There isn't massive upgrade in the processor: Samsung only claims to have optimised the SD 8 Gen 2 for the new Galaxy phones. A16 Bionic is still better. The only thing that may make me consider buying the S23U is the fact that all the variants released will get SD chipset, so I could just get the dual physical SIM variant and still enjoy Snapdragon. |

I see all the points you're trying to make. While you are sound and have come up with somewhat solid arguments, you seem to be missing something: The USA, Bill Gates or the Government will get your details if they wanted it. What makes you so sure that they don't already have your profile on their system? You use internet-based social platforms; you use a smartphones that report to Google, Apple, The US, China and the several OEMs we've got. You use bank accounts and mobile network services that require your biometrics and home address before you get access. Need I remind you that you may have done KYC with some websites before. While they tell you that everything you submitted is encrypted, how sure are you that they really are? What makes you think that your texts (whether on WhatsApp or ones sent as traditional SMS) aren't monitored? What about your phone's fingerprint unlock or face ID feature? HOW IS STAR LINKS ANY DIFFERENT? The other day, I got a text on my phone from MTN, telling me about an event happening in my residential area (literally 10 buildings away from me) here in Ibadan. While that may be no biggie, here's where things get interesting: I recently moved to Ibadan; my SIM card is on a phone that doesn't have internet provision; my SIM registration was done in Lagos. How did they know exactly where I was? They were able to know through the antenna I was connected to, right? How could they tell where exactly I was? There's no such thing as absolute privacy, unless you live in a cave, away from modern civilisation. Everything keeps a tab on you these days, thanks to A.I and M.L., and the companies that have your data will sell it for the right price. 16 Likes |

Blankstare: If you care so much about battery life, don't buy any Samsung S series below S10 plus. Always go for the plus variants (e.g S21 plus, s20 plus, etc), at least. You can get the ultra variants if you've got more cash, but never settle for anything below plus (except for S21FE) Whatever you do, always go for the Snapdragon (single SIM) variant. 4 Likes |

Having used both devices, these are my experience with each: iPhone XS Max pros - better build quality - better camera - better resale value - better speakers - more recent software support - better app usage experience Samsung S10 Plus Pros - better battery life - sleeker design - better night pictures - reverse wireless charging - memory card support - better display - OS allows customisations I hope this helps you make the right choice. 1 Like |

Phones / Re: Elon Musk & His New Tesla Phone, A New World Package For 2023 by tecnolad(m): 2:03am On Jan 04, 2023 |
Supremos: I have read through everything you posted, but you seem to be missing some points: 1. Blackberry died because it ran an OS that was based on Java, limiting it from performing the wonders that Android (based on Linux) brought into the big picture. Android has a better platform that is developer-friendly, which made it possible for its better app store to get populated. If you've ever been the Blackberry World app store, you'd understand. Android was faster, smarter and Blackberry (and Nokia) didn't move with quickly with the smartphone era. Maybe ego — maybe bad market research and uninformed partnerships — but it was Blackberry and Nokia's greatest undoing. 2. Pi phone's expected features are futuristic and would entice a lot of people, but this doesn't mean the end of iPhones. Most families are neck-deep into Apple's ecosystem, and so are some businesses. Getting these people to just dump their gadgets will be hard. Samsung, Motorola, have made flipping and folding smatphones and they still aren't getting as much sales as Apple. Heck, Xiaomi even made an all screen phone and the world quickly forgot about it. iOS is a major operating system that a lot of companies have their several programs working on; most importantly, developers are making a ton from people's subscriptions on their respective apps. Here are a couple things to consider: - what developer will leave a platform that's generating good money for them, from thousands of subscribers, to develop apps for a new OS where they have to start all over? - I know that the phone could get the Elon effect, but could the marketing around Elon's name floor that of a trillion dollar company, Apple? Would it even floor Samsung or Huawei? These companies have the wealth of years of experience, knowing what works and vice versa. If you still think that Pi phone might kill Apple because of Elon effect, kindly take a look at Elon's effect on Dogecoin. I worked on several projects, in the crypto space and I know how much guys worship Elon Musk. But did it make Dogecoin outrank the likes of BNB? Asus ROG came with a laptop with double displays and awesome specs, but the MacBook Pros still sold like pure water, compared to these other windows based PCs with their specs maxed out. I didn't mean to become Apostle Paul, but saying that iPhones will be gone isn't realistic, because Pi will have more than Apple to compete with, and it will not be funny. |

ravensckar: I'm not racially insult.ing you. I'm telling you that you exhibit traits that prove you to be a product of a failed ape-human crossbreeding experiment. Think about it: you've mentioned how people thought and talked with their an.us multiple times today, and this is a kinda trait associated with apes, monkeys and their cohorts. If you'd not been doing that the whole time, it wouldn't mean so much to you to want to confirm if people fell in your category. But hey! We're humans here, your ape traits don't apply here. You do you, and we will enjoy your show of shame. This is how it works. |

Science still has a long way to go; you just came with the wrong set. About your hairline, it looks like you survived a fr3ak accident that claimed some part of your brain, so we should expect these kind of zero-wits-inspired yaps from you, from time to time. Wait. Was it a cannonball? Because your nose is a different factor to consider. Whatever hit your head to leave that dent on your face is huge. It's a miracle you're still alive to churn out these bollocks. Did I say I was disappointed? My bad. You're a Planet of Apes miracle, and I hope you get found soon, and awarded your rightful place in a museum or some underground laboratory. How about you tell me a little about yourself and traits you tend to exhibit in your next response? I might even toss you some banana. |

Jokes Etc / Victim Of My Wife's Taser by tecnolad(m): 2:06pm On Dec 14, 2022 |
A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this: Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Taser. The effects of the Taser were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety...?? WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home... I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the two prongs. AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave. Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and then thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong? So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and Taser in another. The directions said that: a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; and a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries. All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference (loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries); pretty cute really, and thinking to myself, 'no possible way!' What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best. I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side so as to say, 'Don't do it stupid,' reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny lil ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad.. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and... HOLY MOTHER OF RUSSIA. WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. Impossible !!!!! I'm pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs! The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room. Note: If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a Taser, one note of caution: There is NO such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor! A three second burst would be considered conservative! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. · The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. · My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching.. · My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I had no control over the drooling. Apparently I had crapped in my shorts, but was too numb to know for sure, and my sense of smell was gone. I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head, which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my testicles and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return! PS: My wife can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift and now regularly threatens me with it! 1 Like |
