@seun, you really ought to discourage the disparaging use of 'Jew' as part of the tribalist nonsense on Nairaland. If you're not careful, the probable fallout is the tagging of Nairaland as an anti-semitic site. The wider world would not make the distinction between teasing of Jewish aspirants and rabid anti-semitism to which some well-placed people are very sensitive.

No outcry, no fight back, just resigned acceptance. And the yeye elders are even pleading for him.

I know what to say and it is thus:- You can remove people from a jungle, but can the jungle ever be removed from people?. Be it Aboki.s, Afonjas or Igbos once you've imbibed the culture of blindly trusting 'men of God' and the African proclivity for prayers above common sense, you're done for.

My thoughts exactly. For keeping quiet until the police arrived and started looking around, qualifies him as an accessory to the crime. Being the tattoist in chief for criminals, whilst in itself not a crime, surely means he mixes with a bad crowd. Bird of a feather and all that. He doesn't deserve the same level of punishment as the ogbologbo beside him, but it should be made clear to him he's lucky on this occasion.

I was going to defend Nigeria but human nature is one where, if the chances of being caught or the law being enforced are slim, what one does is down to nature and nurture. I'm afraid Nigeria nurtures crimininality. The nature of individuals is what decides whether they rape, kill, rob, etc. Thats two out of three for evil. I fear for that country.

@ZarZar, you're wasting your time.
Undesirable elements have carried the shit they do in their country to South Africa and some commentators here expect the SA authorities to expend effort preventing them from wiping each other out.

As long as the innocent are not affected, let them carry on. We don't care.

@jetroolowole, my brother, leave matter for mad Mathias. Just reading some responses to this thread tells one that in addition to greed and laziness, stubborn foolishness is also a factor to falling victim. The world will always always need fools.

I always wonder whether it is Nigeria that has turned people into unthinking animals or whether these traits are inherently writ large in the beings that forms the population of Nigeria in the first place. Chicken or egg, which came first?
PropertiesRe: Lagos Criminalises Drilling Boreholes Without Permit by teedawson: 11:34am On Mar 03, 2017
SurePresident:
Some should be arrested and jailed to serve as deterrent to others. Indiscriminate borehole drilling could lead to natural disaster.
AdultMaleNegro:
So this morning, I woke up to a news I have been 'expecting' for years now. That the Lagos state government is to begin enforcing laws which criminalizes the drilling of boreholes.

From an Environmentalists point of view, this is to curb the incessant sinking of boreholes all over the place. We have failed to properly manage the release of green house gases into the environment, we should realize the serious Environmental Impact which may arise if everyone and every household sinks a borehole.

Boreholes could lead to landmines, earthquakes or tremor in the foreseeable future. It is easily contaminated by leaky contaminants, heavy metals and micro organisms. When pollutants spill, leak or are
inadvertently dumped on the soil surface, they
easily seep through the soil and pollute the
aquifer – the layer of rock or clay holding
groundwater.

Even UNESCO had since warned against the use of
groundwater as borehole water as it is known ,
for public water supply. Consequently, it had
been discouraging governments across the
globe from the use of groundwater.

This is not in defense of the Lagos state government's decision but a wake up call on the citizenry about the need to begin to put the government on it's toes and make them realize the need to provide alternative potable water for the people.

P. S: Even the government is guilty of this act of disturbing the ground water as many politicians now see 'sinking of boreholes' as pet projects for their constituencies.
mmsen:
Yes, it's about proper management of the water table. Just because it is your own land does not mean that your neighbors are unaffected by your actions.

Nigerians need to stop thinking that because it is their property they can do as they please, your actions have consequences for the wider community and environment.
@SurePresident, @AdultMaleNegro, @mmsen, You each wrote the truth. Yours are the 'bigger picture' perspective compared to the other commentators. Desertification, erosion, degrading of the water tables and many more disasters are what we are all sleep-walking towards with boreholes all over the place.
If only the arse-wipes that lead us and the technocrats in charge of utility companies and, by extension, us as a people, were serious, running water from taps should be a thing we take from granted by now. but hey-ho, here we are in the 21st century, still digging individual wells and claiming giant of Africa. undecided

This photo currently making rounds on social media shows controversial Zambian pastor Prophet Andrew Egimadu who is popularly known as Seer 1 -allowing his congregates to kiss his designer shoes for a miracle. This has sparked outrage among online users who find the act disgusting.

Abi o, which work in Nigeria of all places, will you do, not only to not be able to buy, but to continue to run such a car?. Even the likes of Dangote wouldn't touch it because the cost of ownership alone makes it a waste of money. To be rich, you have to be careful with money.

So you are right. Only the snivelling, entitled, spoilt, son of polithieving bastar.d can afford such things as 'toys'. Unfortunately it is funded from from our collective commonwealth and some Nigerians will be hailing him. undecided undecided.

The irony is that it is probably the best looking parked / abandoned car by now. A car that, except for probably South Africa, there's nowhere in the whole of Africa that he can get it properly serviced as required. But sha, when you don't work for your money, you don't have to worry about little details.

Christiana told PUNCH Metro that her husband had left the house with a plan to demand payment of a debt owed him by a construction company.

........

“ On Tuesday, January 31, around 1pm, we both left the house and when we got to Mile 1, we parted ways . I went to see a friend , while he went to the company. It was not up to one hour that I was called that my husband had been shot.

I went to report at the area command , but immediately I said policemen shot my husband , I was chased out . I went to the governor ’ s office and I was sent away like a thief.

.
What a complete shi.t-hole Nigeria is. This case should not be allowed to die. The CCTV footage is crucial. It places the victim and the patrol at the location and gives a time frame. The bullion van would also have had a departure and destination. From that the escorts can be identified and the assailant can be identified. If there is one cause for Human rights groups to take up or for the general public to protest about, this is it. angry

Mavrodian {Maev-roe-diaen} - A lobotomised type of Bonobo monkey* chractererised by extreme greed, irrationality and complete rejection of logic.
Habitat: Found all over the world but with the highest concentration in West Africa.
Character traits:- Immoral, unconscionable sociopath with a fondness for miraculous returns of 30% based on other people's money.
Prone to believe in miracles and unicorns. Unbelievable capacity for self-deception. Inability to accept the truth.
Distinguishing features:- The only known species in the whole of creation to proudly bear the name of its exploiter.
Rallying call in the wild: 'PH / GH!'. 'Together, we will keep showing our stupidity!', 'Na your money?'
Population: Depressingly Large. For males, the impending economic loss will {hopefully} reduce chances of gene propagation. Survival instinct may push the females to reproduce with non-mavrodians species resulting in a dilution of Mavrodian traits.
Redeeming features: Apart from the entertainment value and as warnings to young children, absolutely none.

*With deep and sincere apologies to actual Bonobo monkeys.
