Hello everyone.

I am applying for PR (my wife and I) and there is this question asking for my travel history and family members'. So does family include my brother, sister, father, mother? Or just my wife and I?

Thanks

Hello Opemipo21

I did this.
They just keep giving the same generic response I get as email from cic. No update on the application. This is over 9 months now since Jan. 31st, not even medical request.

BTW, I sent you a mail. Could you please respond?

Thanks

Opemipo21:

The quickest way is to ask your MP’s office to call them and get the information for you. It’s usually faster that way. You get the information you need +any update on your file with a few hours

Hello gbjobs

Are you on a study permit or PR?

gbjobs1:
i applied for my family on the 30th january. Sent mail for exemption after opemipo gave the info. Also sent email to lagos and nairobi visa offices. Got updated for medical request 2-3weeks after. Medical passed since 2 weeks now and no update yet...
Travel / Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by teejay2018: 4:31pm On Sep 12, 2020
Thanks for your response

Opemipo21:

I have explained the email in my last response. Also, you will not get a response telling you that you are Eligible, you have to request a GCMS note for that. And you are not raising CSE at all as the department that evaluates your application to be considered essential is different from your visa officer as I was told by IRCC agent here in Canada.
Travel / Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by teejay2018: 6:06pm On Sep 11, 2020
Please can you explain this covid email approach to us?

Some of us are still unclear about how to go about it. Like what kind of email are we supposed to send? And are they supposed to respond to the email in a way? And when they do, are we expected to attach their response and forward to IRCC using a CSE form?

Thanks
Opemipo21:
Hi, you have to meet the COVID exemption for your application to be processed at this time. Am sure you have sent an email to the COVID exemption email. If you have then you should see if they think you meet the exemption on your GCMS note. If you do, they will process it and even attach the COVID exemption letter to your package when you get your passport back from them. I hope this helps!

Congratulations to you
Please did you submit medicals in advance?

Opemipo21:

We didn’t submit our passport to a VAC, we couriered it to Canadian High Commission Abuja per the phone call received and correspondent confirmed passport will be returned between 10-14 business day.

Hi Everyone,
Please is anyone going to Ryerson University here ?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by teejay2018: 10:10am On Jun 25, 2019
Good day house.

Anyone heading to Ryerson University, Toronto this August? That's my stop and I sincerely need all the help I can get right now. If anyone has any link to any student or anyone over there, please kindly share with me. I've been on LinkedIn, Facebook, and other social sites to find a lead, but nothing promising so far.

I'm also trying the online accommodation sites too. I'm just trying to see if I can be linked up directly with someone who might be of great help.

I've not seen anyone heading to that school in a while on this platform (I may be wrong and I'm open to corrections)

Please holla, if you're here.

And please, if I'm going about this the wrong way, please correct me or enlighten me with better tips to go about it.

Thanks

You can PM me, I would like to render the assistance that I can.
Though I'm not an Engineering student, I think there are general rules that apply to all admission seekers, which I'd be glad to share with you.

BUT, you must be ready to do the hard work with respect to School and Faculty search, since I'm not conversant with your program.

riosworos:
Hello gurus in the house

I know my request may probably sound silly to most in the house but I genuinely need help in gaining a masters admission in a Canadian University for computer science/electrical electronics or embedded systems. For almost a year now I have applied to 4 universities but all declining me admission in Canada. I have a first class degree in Electrical/electronics engineering (UK) and and a Masters in electrical engineering (Germany) which I gained no knowledge but just a certificate. I would like to do another master degree and would be glad if someone can assist me in picking a good University and assist in gaining admission into a program by aiding me step by step because obviously I am doing something wrong... Your help will be greatly appreciated..

My boss!
Respect sir.

Sorry, I'm just seeing this.
But the moniker in question contacted me few days ago, and I've replied his mail. But for the benefit of others who may need the info, this is what I've noticed.

Offer letters are sent out in March/April depending on the departments, and some also get it earlier, if they apply early too. So if the applicant waits till end of April with nothing yet, I'd advise to contact graduate studies.
In 2017 and 2018, offers were sent out on April 24th(same day) for my program.

Frankrobbn1:

Sorry I am not in the best position to answer this. I believe an applicant heading to the school (ryerson university) would be of great help to your question.

Cc: teejay2018 please provide clarity to the above applicant. Thanks

Senatorkolade.

Have you been admitted in a school in Canada. If yes, please state the school and also state if the program has a project or research option. This will guide how you will write your SOP.

Hello Everyone.
Following the tradition of the house, I would like to share my TRV story hoping it will bless someone.

Sorry for the long post. And sorry I've not done this sooner.

First, All thanks to the Almighty God who began and also completed the good work. To him be glory alone. The "I did this" "I did that" you'll be seeing in this post is simply Him and no one else.

In 2016, I started looking into Canada against Fall 2017, I reached out to so many research supervisors. In the end, only 2 responded; one from Waterloo and the other from Ryerson. (But before then, I found a Nigerian in Usask who was lecturing there at that time, so I reached out to him, He accepted me with open arms and started mentoring me through mails on Canada's academic system and how to write research interest, how to contact supervisor, the choice of words and how to follow up. He told me to always make friends with the Program secretaries because they have high clearances more than i think, cos sometimes, they might be part of the quorum that forms the admission commitee).

On the long run, both of them showed interest in my research and said they were willing to supervise me, so I submitted application. After 24 minutes skype interview with the Waterloo supervisor, she said she will make sure to do her part to see to my admission, but apparently the schools had other plans. In few weeks, both schools turned down my application after weeks of hectic research and writing statement of interests. I really spent so much money on making calls to Canada then. From their secretaries to supervisors, to the Directors of both programs, I kept sending mails, but when i realized it was taking time to get responses through mails, i will call them. I was trying to find out what went wrong with my applications. They eventually let me in on the school's policy of not admitting international students when the school or the research supervisor cannot demonstrate a reasonable level of funding for them. They also said my cGPAs were not really high/competitive. BSc (3.75) MSc (Mphil/PhD).

Back to square one, between 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 application, i reached out to over 80 supervisors from different universities (according to my email "sent" folder) in Canada; 4 were willing- 3 thesis and 1 project option (as last resort). Ryerson gave me admission for the thesis (same supervisor said she's still interested in my research but I had to include it in my statement of interest that i can fund myself) while Dalhousie for the project option. Other 2 schools, no admission.

TRV started June 18th, nothing till October. then the moniker Lotusboi shared his TRV approval story and how his application was held back in New Zealand through Gcms note. i contacted him, he kindly walked me through ordering for gcms notes(Nov 16). Fall admission passed, i deferred to January with updated LOA (Nov 13th). After 6 days of ordering for gcms note, medical request dropped, Lotusboi also walked me through that, I did medicals the next day by God's grace, medicals passed(Nov 28th) and like Lotusboi, whose application was approved the same morning he passed his medicals, i began to wait for approval on Nov 28th (longest day in November). December going, nothing, I applied for another gcms note (Dec 28th), gcms came in Jan 28th.

Sleekysoft story dropped on Nairaland, He wrote appraisal mentioning Frankrobben, I kukuma contacted them both (lol), they both checked my gcms notes and kept firing me up with words of encouragement. Admission deadline had passed (January 11), the school said i will have to reapply. Applied against Fall 2019. I sent webform to IRCC using this link
https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx (on Feb 4) just to get update on my application.
PPR dropped Feb 5th. Awaiting passport collection.
