PoliticsRe: Oyo-2015: Ladoja And Akala Teamed-Up To Takeover by teemlo: 2:07am On Jun 09, 2013
barcanista: That the Ibadan people will decide. In fairness, with a unified PDP,Akala wil easily sweep the votes. FORGET about ACN propaganda, Akala is loved in OGBOMOSO and in some section of Ibadan. Ladoja stronghold is in Ibadan... Were ADEDIBU alive, Akala will still have remained Governor. Pa Adedibu is a grassroot man and Ibadan strongman, he'd easily influence votes to Akala's favor EXCEPT the supreme God decide otherwise.
The bolded is a big lie, in fact he was rigged in to become the chairman of Ogbomosho North LG, no one like him in Ibadan except in his party(PDP)

Afam4eva: That's the truth.

There's a reason why you rarely hear of MASSOB wahala in Enugu and that's because it's the sanest city in Igboland and it probably houses the most educated.
Yeah I know, that's why I respected you and Okija juju on this forum

PoliticsEnugu Shuns MASSOB Sit-at-home Order by teemlo(op): 11:56pm On Jun 08, 2013
THE people of Enugu Saturday refused to comply with the directive by the pro-Biafra group, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB to sit at home to mourn Igbos killed in northern states by Boko Haram.

There was apprehension among the people over the sit-at-home order but there was no compliance as the people went about their normal businesses.

The state police command had on Wednesday issued a statement warning those trying to cause confusion in the state to drop the idea or face the wrath of the law.

The command thereafter beefed up security in parts of the state to signal their readiness to tackle the miscreants who masquerade as MASSOB members.

Many residents who woke up Saturday morning expecting to see the enforcement of the order were disappointed as the capital city was calm with many traders doing their normal businesses.

The markets were opened to traders and buyers even though some youths were telling people that there would be no trading at Ogbete Main Market.

Officials of MASSOB were nowhere to be found as policemen were seen along major streets of the capital city.

Reports from Nsukka, however, said economic activities were partially paralyzed as some traders locked up their shop in the market for fear of being attacked

PoliticsRe: Is KORO The Real Messiah For Lagos State?? by teemlo: 5:20pm On Jun 08, 2013
barcanista: Senator Musliu Obanikoro's profile is visibly on the rise. A grassroot politician who have served as a Chairman Lagos Island Local Govt, Commissioner between 1999-2003 under Tinubu's Administration, Senator 2003-2007 and Nigeria's Ambassador to Ghana 2007-2012. Popularly Known as KORO, he was born in the year 1954, and happily married with Kids. By the sound of KORO, every political opponent shivers. This is a man who stood up against the tyrannical Tinubu, Olabode George, Ogunlewe among others and TRIUMPHED over them. Many thought KORO was finished politically when he NARROWLY lost Lagos Gubernatorial election in 2007, KORO bounced back. This was evident in the last LGA election when KORO led the state chapter of PDP to give the incumbent party a run for their money. Allegation of electoral fraud by the ruling party in collaboration with the State's Electorial Commission marred the election results in virtually every ward. KORO is loved by the grassroot in Lagos State. KORO is loved by every sections of PDP. Despite the propaganda against his person, KORO has no SINGLE criminal case or corruption case against him. The Opposition always use the infamous burning of City Hall orchastrated by chatalans against him. Lagosians are yearning for a change, for populist policies to be implemented and they've lost faith in ACN led Govt. Being a grassroot person, KORO hold the key to Liberation, at the mention of KORO, the opposition shivers. Truly, No one knows Lagos like KORO, KORO is the man.

PoliticsInciting Statements: Arrest Buhari Now, Says CAN by teemlo(op): 7:56pm On Jun 04, 2013
ABUJA – The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Tuesday, called for the arrest of the former Head of State and Presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, (CPC), General (rtd) Muhammadu Buhari, following his frequent provocative statements.

The President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, in a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Kenny Ashaka, and made available to Vanguard in Abuja, said that Buhari, having in various occasions justified the action of the sect…, therefore, he stands a big security threat to the country’s corporate existence.

Oritsejafor maintained that it was so unfortunate that when every Nigerian was praying for successful military onslaught on the insurgence, Buhari rather than sharing the same feeling with well-meaning Nigerians was busy indulging in careless statements, without regards for victims of the sect’s violence who were mostly Christians.

The statement read, “The retired General was widely reported by several national newspaper Correspondents, who monitored the Liberty Radio programme “Guest of the week”, to have questioned the “special treatment” given to the Niger-Delta militants by the Federal Government while the Boko Haram members were being killed and their houses destroyed by government.

HNosegbe: I'm really worried with the recent turn of events. The potential loss of innocent civilian lives from military airstrikes and related "projections of hard power" may make Baga look like a carnival.

I fear that Goodluck Jonathan, in an attempt to avoid being seen as weak, may have bitten off more than he can chew.

Boko Haram is a fragmented, shadowy sect. Insurgents such as BH can NEVER be defeated in open, attritional warfare.

My view remains what it has always been: This security threat can only be curtailed with superior intelligence gathering, coupled with an intensive campaign to win hearts and minds which will involve a combination of witness protection (for BH members willing to defect and provide valuable information) to provision of emergency social services for affected communities, to investment in emergency public works programmes to create jobs for the unemployed, to the commitment of special funds for the restoration of Lake Chad.

The government must work to induce potential defectors to come forward with valuable information on who the backers and financiers of BH are, and in exchange such defectors can be offered amnesty as well as witness protection for them as well as their families.

By doing these, you can show the indigenes that you're really concerned about their welfare (thereby increasing government goodwill and reducing local sympathy for the BH cause).

But as long as Jonathan continues with this heavy-handed approach, I fear the war will continue for years to come.

P.S: Meanwhile, what is being done about the borders?
The only inteligent post, I hope the military cut off satelite phones communications too because with that they(BH) can still operate effectively.
PoliticsOkorocha Defects To APC by teemlo(op): 4:09am On May 08, 2013
The nation’s political landscape was redefined, yesterday, after Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State defected from the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, to the yet unregistered All Progressive Congress, APC.

The defection during a public rally at the Heroes Square, Owerri was witnessed by eight governors from opposition political parties.Okorocha’s defection was witnessed by governors from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Edo, Osun, Nasarawa and Borno states.

Flanked by his wife, Nkechi and the visiting governors, an elated Okorocha explained that the merger of some political parties was being engineered by those he called “a crop of seasoned, patriotic politicians who want to rescue the nation from the quagmire inflicted on it by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.”

Okorocha gave assurance that Ndigbo have embraced APC because of what he termed their sad experience in the hands of the PDP at the federal and state levels, pointing out that the party has been consigned to the dustbin of history in Imo State.

He advised Imo people to sustain their spirit of democracy and good governance through the rejection of the PDP and all that the party stands for in all future electoral exercises.

“I must commend all the governors that have chosen to come under the APC umbrella, especially as this is a sure way of ending bad administration in this God blessed country”, Okorocha said.

Lamenting the fate of the country in the last 12 years under different PDP federal administrations, Okorocha who derided the party as “people deceiving people”, said: “this ugly trend has pauperized Nigerians through poverty of vision and project implementation. Never again will Nigeria represent a nation in bondage.”

In his speech, Governor Babatunde Fashola, SAN, of Lagos State, commended Okorocha for his spirit of patriotism in joining the APC family, adding that the coalition marked the beginning of a veritable change for positive transformation and reformation in the country.

Fashola, Ajimobi laud Okorocha

Fashola said: “We in APC are committed to a change for the betterment of our dear nation and our people. The coming of APC is neither borne out of selfishness nor greed but a positive step to liberate our people from a state of hopelessness”.

Adding an element of humour into the event, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, announced that Okorocha had been conferred with the title of “Girigi of Oyo State”.

Ajimobi said: “Those who have accepted to join and identify with APC would enjoy everlasting divine blessing, while those still procrastinating on when and how to do so, would have their blessings deferred”.

He commended Governor Okorocha for “his landmark achievements that have ultimately brought smiles on the faces of Imo people,” stressing that Imo people should continue to support him.

Meanwhile, the state capital, Owerri virtually stood still yesterday as schools, markets and a good number of business centres were closed for most of the day on account of the defection.
