Dear Amarabae, I'm somewhat confused as to why the content of your post has two ideas that highly contradict each other. On one hand, you talked about feminism ideologies and why women shouldn't depend on men financially, which I totally agree with since I'm a Feminist as well and i do not believe a relationship should be parasitic to any one or for any reason.

On the other hand, it seemed to me that the purpose of the post was to agressively slut-shame sex workers and it was evident in the way that you allegedly reacted to the incident which you said happened today.
According to you, the words that came out of your mouths were "you are very silly and stupid, you silly thing!" I must confess that I hadn't expected that from someone who is supposed to be a 'women's right activist' (as you've written on your profile).

Having said that, you should know that the act of slut-shaming sex workers is un-feminist and you are not yet a feminist until you are able to come to terms with the fact that what a woman chooses to/not to do with her body completely remains her choice since the feminist autonomy that all feminists should know is "women should stand on their own, make their own decisions and pursue the notion of a life lived well to their OWN satisfaction. It's nothing less than the belief that sex work is a matter of choice and everyone's choice shouldn't bother anyone else as long as it's not harmful to humanity.

Also, put in mind that sex work might not be the ideal work for every woman but it can equally provide a comfortable, self-reliant and pocket enriching work for those who chose to do it. I think they should be accorded the same respect that every woman deserves since they are also women and sex workers' rights are human rights!

It really baffles me, how, according to your narration as a women's right activist would feel very comfortable while supporting a man who has publicly beaten a woman! And has undeniably claimed that he breached the contract that was agreed upon before the transaction of a business.. YES, business! Sex work is nothing less than a business and just like every other one, money is being exchanged for a commodity!

But mind you, I'm not saying this should be applicable in a relationship, like I said earlier, a relationship shouldn't be toxic or parasitic and a woman MUST be responsible for herself.

PS: I am NOT a sex worker, not because I feel it is a bad occupation, but because I chose to be something else. It's a matter of choice and humans are deserving of equal rights and opportunities.

you made a good post but I will want to disagree with the sex work.idea.No matter how we want to look at the gains of prostitution,it is wrong and demonic and it shouldn't be encouraged. why do we condemned scamming or stealing because we know how traumatic it can be for victims same here for sex workers deeds.

These set of women takes away family time from the men,spread diseases which is not only for the men even for the wives at home,takes away money meant for the wife and children in the home, cause breakups and divorce in homes especially for a woman that can't take adultery, they make children not to have a good home if the parents decides to spilt because of the man's infidelity, I can go on and on.We should always stand against prostitution at all cost.

i can totally relate with this,most men that talks about women having their own money also feel intimidated when their girlfriends or wives have more money,in fact the woman will always be in trouble because they believe you can't be controlled or be submissive.you be surprise that the same guy you are working hard to impress will leave most bills for you to pay and always claim to be broke while getting loans from you and adding his own salary to take care of another girl that's even broke or a parasite to him.Look at tiwa savage that waa the breadwinner.What happen? the husband never contributed a dime to the welfare of his own child but was making millions from managing tiwa,never dropped money for food or anything but was spending on other women that probably weren't working.That's irony of life.Men dont really know what they want I swear.

A typical Nigerian woman enjoys 101 percent benefit in marriage. Go to some families you will find out that the man is maggi, onion and pepper in the house. The man is paying the rent, the man is paying the children's fees and then still spends on her. Virtually everything is taken care of by the man while all she does is give birth to children by the minute. Worst case, she chats with her friends all day on Facebook and everyother social network. Whoever says Marriage doesn't favor women must be living in utopia and is ignorant of certain realities.

Don't generalize, because if women does nothing men wouldn't be itching to get married.. I know you are a man so I'm not surprised. Some women are. slaves in their marriages. Cleaning,washing,cooking,caring for the welfare of the kids,how about school runs of the kids,carrying pregnancy for 9 months and give birth with all the sleepless that comes with it.Some even give up their career just to care. for the family but still they don't get appreciated or given accolades like you just did.
