pocohantas: That is fine. I support you on this. It is quite a sensitive surgery, so let's ensure it is done by the best hands out there. I will save the date. Thank you very much for your support ma, today is the appointment date doctor gave us last time I took him to general hospital, we were able to see doctor around 3:00pm. The doctor said surgery date has been set which is December 2nd but he said I should come on 23/10/2025( October 10th) to come and collect the list of what he will need for the operation, I think that is when they will tell us the bill. Thank you very much ma, I really appreciate it Almighty God will continue to bless you and your family.

Clarendon: Okay, good. You can delete the details now.
From your comment earlier, where you did a little price analysis, we can do the following:
Full gas that will last a month (+ so your son can use hot water to bath) = 7,200 Half bag rice = 36,000. The garri you talked about = 13,000 Your son’s school fee = 23,000 We can do tomatoes + pepper = 15,000 The balance can cover miscellaneous expenses like transportation.
You can then use your salary for this month to buy beans and other things to keep the house running.
You can check your account as I just sent money to cover all of the listed items above.
Hopefully this helps in a little way. Once again, thank you very much sir for your assistance, Almighty God will continue to bless you and your family sir. My first daughter has also got admission to university. Thank you very much sir. |

Esthered: I've been following your story through Aunty Poco's responses to you. My uncle was visiting General Hospital at Gbagada where he was diagnosed of Hernia. We spent over a 100k on come today, come tomorrow for over 3 months. Surgery was postponed because he was underweight. My mum took him to her place to take care for him and seek a second opinion at a private hospital. He saw the doctor who attends to him at Gbagada in the private hospital at Ikorodu. We ended up doing the surgery there as it was affordable at N250k. General Hospital has good hands no doubt but you'll be delayed with repeated visits except you know someone who can influence a fast track. I wish your son a restored health. Amen, thank you ma I didn't know that this is what people go through at government hospitals I begged the doctor we meet on Thursday to help me with the operation date so that it can be done on time, he said they will review it. I want to wait till 25/09/2025, if they did not give me the operation date, I will not have choice than to turn to private hospital. Once again thank you ma. |

pocohantas: Good evening! So sorry about this. I am also disturbed at how long it has taken and we are still on more appointment dates. I really did think it would end today and you would be given a surgery date. Yet it is another appt again. What stopped them from giving you a surgery date today? It is not like they are doing further diagnosis.
Wait a minite, I thought it is 25th of August. Just seeing it is 25th of September!
Do you want to switch to a private hospital? It is assumed govt hospitals are better for surgeries as they have better hands, but the choice is yours at this point. I really appreciate your concern ma, initially I took him to private hospital that is where the doctor told me it's hernia and the only solution is operation, since then I have heard many stories from people about the operation that is why I want to prefer general hospital since they have more qualified doctors but I didn't know that this is what people go through before they get operated at general hospital. I want to wait till the next appointment date which is 25/09/2025 may be they will give us the operation date, if they still postpone it maybe I will take him to private hospital. Thank you very much ma, I really appreciate your concern ma, God bless you ma. |

pocohantas: Glad to read this and thanks for keeping to the appointment. We meet another older doctor today, when he checked the system for my son's information, he said the date he saw for the operation is still far, he wrote something on a sheet of paper and told me to give it to the officer who will write the next appointment date I told the doctor to assist me on the date because it's some good people that want to assist me to pay the operation bill I don't have the financial capacity. The doctor said they will review on it, so the next appointment date is 25/09/2025. I now understand what the first doctor told us at the surgical department that if it gets to a stage that he cannot pass urine and the appointment date has not reached that I should bring him to general hospital at the emergency department. I don't know must it gets worst before they will agree to do the operation? I hope the doctor we meet today do something about the operation date so that it can be fast, I didn't know that this is what people using government hospital pass through before they get surgical treatment when it's not yet emergency. It is today I know that money is very important in somebody's life especially when it comes to health especially operation.

pocohantas: Nawa o. So someone if he was in serious pain. This is how long it would take? Is this date for the surgery or just to see a doctor? Also is it on this date we would know the cost of the surgery? The new date is the date we will see doctor for the second time, the first time he told us that if he cannot urinate again and they have not given us appointment date, we should take him to emergency department. The doctor said they don't work with emotions that they have a lot of people they want to do operation for, I hope they give us the operation date on time. Thank you very much for your concern ma. |
Family › Re: The Health Of My Son by Telltruth123(op): 3:23pm On Jul 31, 2025 |
Clarendon: Great! But, just something to point out - Eating rice (particularly white rice) everyday might not be a good idea, just so you don't increase your blood sugar level beyond healthy limit. Brown rice + proteins should be the way to go. So you should be looking at brown rice, beans, eggs, milk, fish, meat. How much for a bag of beans in your location? I see you did not include it.
Could you include your bank account number in your next post. The bank should be a conventional bank like FirstBank, Zenith, Access, GTB, etc (not Opay, or any of those fintech). I know other people have done their own verification and I would't want to stress you any more than necessary, but I would also appreciate it if you can attach two means of identification showing only your first name (something like voters card, passport, diploma certificate, statement of result, National ID, etc). You can block sensitive details, block your surname, block your middle name, block your photograph, block every sensitive detail. I just want to see that your first name matches your bank account name.
After confirmation, you could go ahead and delete the details.
Hopefully this works.
Good afternoon sir, on my way coming back from Ikorodu general hospital today, I went to Sabo market to price the beans, because I didn't have the idea of the price I only asked somebody selling derica of beans in my area who has bag of beans in her shop. Good afternoon ma, I went to Ikorodu general hospital today to get the result and take new appointment date. When I got to the lab, they told me that they have sent the result to the surgical department, I observe that everything they are doing now is through computer they don't carry file around so he only wrote it on sheet of paper for me to know the result. When I got to the surgical department, I collected new date which is 14/08/2025. Thank you very much ma, I really appreciate your assistance.

Clarendon: Hello Telltruth123,
I only just started following this thread, and it seems you’re going through quite a lot. I am glad good people on this thread have come to render help to see that your son gets back in good health.
I see that the thread started on a chaotic note, with someone accusing you wrongly. Although the person went about it the “absolute” wrong way, I think the person was only trying to protect others from something which could potentially be a scam. I also appreciate how you handled the matter.
You said your son was diagnosed with inguinal hernia. I am very sorry to hear about that. I would advice you discontinue the herbal treatment, as this is something that needs surgical intervention, not herbal medicine. It is looking like doctors are yet to decide on a date for surgery. Hopefully a date is decided soon. I can also see that you’re scared of taking too much time off work to attend to your son’s medical needs, and I absolutely understand.
You should let your supervisor at work know exactly what is happening, and let them know what times you would like to be excused off work, so they can plan appropriately. Any reasonable superior at work should understand and try to work with you as you navigate this.
From one of your previous posts, you said your husband sponsored you through school at some point. God bless his kind heart. You also mentioned your other children needing money to take UTME exams or some other exams, plus difficulty feeding, paying back loans, saving money for business and spending it all. Looks like a lot to me.
Financial stress could be really troubling and very difficult to manage. I can only pray and hope that things get better for you so that you can begin saving once again and one day start your business. I should state again that I am glad that some kind people in this thread are willing to support your son’s medical bill. On my end, I am willing to support other minor general needs, primarily food and/or academic needs like the UTME fee you talked about earlier, or school fee as a new school session is just on the way.
How much do you think could augment your current household income to sort some of the most pressing needs currently? Please do not exaggerate how much you need as I am not rich, I just want to help from the little I have, and I need a reasonable estimate that I can work with.
Best regards.
Good morning sir, I really appreciate your concern sir I would have told my supervisor but I kept it to myself because I have seen where they refused to employ a nursing mother because they said she will be taking unnecessary off work to take care of her child. I will go to the hospital tomorrow to take new appointment date, whatever date they give for the operation, I will notify my supervisor. Concerning the UTME for my daughter, I borrowed N10,000 from my colleague to register her in February and she sat for the exam in April I have paid back. We are processing her admission in TASUED but no savings yet for that she just started doing labour work hoping to save money for her admission. I have changed my other two daughters to public secondary schools but my son is in basic 2 in a private school and I pay N23,000 per term which I pay 3 times before the end of the term. Concerning food stuff, presently we don't have anything at home even gas we don't have my boy was telling me this morning that I should use worm water to bath for him. If we cook rice every morning, we will eat quarter bag for 11 days and bag of rice is N72,000. Concerning gas if I fill N1,200 I will use it for 5 days, half bag of garri is N13,000 it will last us one month they will drink it afternoon and make swallow at night. Sir, any amount you give us I will make maximum use of it and Almighty God will reward you in multiples. Thank you very much sir. |

I used the opportunity to go to the surgical department to get new appointment date but I meet a lot of people and the officer told me that I have to wait before he can give me another appointment date everything is computerized I have already used some ours at the laboratory, I couldn't wait because I had to rush back to work but before this week runs out I will go back to get the appointment date. They directed me to pay point at mother and child department for payment, well I don't have the money presently and I did not bring him because I went from work so I asked for the account number but they said there network is bad that I should go and get cash may be because is a small amount that is why they don't want to give me the account number hopefully before next week runs out I will take him there for the test. It makes you think that it doesn't matter how rich you become, and even if it were the end of the world, your mom is one of the only people who would always make sure you have food. You people are lucky, I don't see myself as someone who has parents. |
