Boasting that Rivers State and the entire South-South belonged to the PDP, he said, “Having failed in the court to steal the states from the PDP, Buhari and his APC want to use violence and intimidation. But they should know that even if they relocate Aso Rock Presidential Villa and the APC National Secretariat to Rivers State on Saturday, they will be roundly defeated.”

 Fayose, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, wondered why the President, who did not utter a word until over 400 Agatu people of Benue State were murdered, swiftly reacted to the reported political violence in Rivers State from faraway Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

 He said, “In Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, Fulani herdsmen allegedly killed over 400 people, including children and pregnant women, destroyed more than ten villages; President Buhari did not raise his voice against this genocide until I condemned his silence.

 “Also in Mile 12, Lagos, 15 persons, including two children were killed with property worth several millions of Naira destroyed during a clash between Hausa and Yoruba; President Buhari did not give the security services any clear directives to deal decisively with anyone.

 “Even though one is not against any action of the government aimed at curbing violence of whatever form, it is pertinent to ask the president whether or not killing of Nigerians should only attract his attention when it involves elections.”

National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has expressed confidence that the party would regain its lost glory.

He said that the strength of the party would be restored after members would have resolved their differences.

Sheriff stated this on Wednesday in Akure, Ondo state, when he visited the state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.

He said that he was in the state to discuss the party’s forthcoming convention in May with the governor.



According to him, the party will leave no stone unturned to bring back `its lost sheep’, and ensure victory in all future elections.

“Since I took the mantle of leadership of our great party, I have been working assiduously to make PDP a strong and united party once again.

“My efforts have been yielding positive results as evident in the level of success we have recorded in recent re-run elections in the country,” he said.

In his response, Mimiko, who is Chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum, expressed confidence in the ability of Sheriff to rebuild the party and reposition it for success in future elections.

He said that it was due to Sheriff’s efforts that the party won virtually all the re-run elections recently.

“I am sure that by the time we finished our convention in May this year, our great party will bounce back to reckoning and we will easily win all elections in the future,” Mimiko said.

he just stopped because, it was government work, and he felt he should be at his house earning salaries.... No legitimate reason... this is the average mindset of nigerians, reason why we have remained like this... It has become a recurrent decimal in our lives, we donnot want to stand up for what is right .... The facility he came to collect the report, also happened to he a government facility I run, I go to work on time, ensure my workers does same... In facts itvoperates like a private institution, you always see someone on ground irrespective of the time... Someone once said to me, "he never believed a government facility can function like that. That is the thing... If I had absented myself from my duty post like him, would he have seen someone to ask such favours? We should all learn to be responsible, play our parts and make the government work....
