FEIRE - EPISODE FIVE Desmond made some tea and sat before his laptop. He searched for a movie he could see so he wouldn’t let the thought weigh him down. He already had headache and if he should continue thinking about what to do, he might end up sick. Perhaps, telling Feire the truth would be the best, or just playing along and trying not to make Feire know anything about what was going on, or what exactly would he do that would get him out of this trouble? He sipped from the cup of tea again and found out the movie had played for five minutes and he didn’t know what has happened. He shut down the laptop and rushed the remaining tea in the cup before going inside the room. His mind thought of another thing to do- twitter savages! He wouldn’t only stop thinking about what to do, he would even have a brightened mood. ** ** ** Feire knew he friend would have been waiting for her to know the outcome of the meeting. She wished she could just get home and rest but meeting Mosun at home is just not going to make that happen. She opened the door and met a bowl of popcorn before Mosun, with her legs crossed over the stool. “Welcome.” She greeted Feire. Feire stood by the door and stared at her for some time. “Where did you get popcorn from?” She asked. “I bought it. I actually needed something I’d be eating while you gist me about what happened today. Common, sit down.” Feire hissed and sat down. “You can’t be serious, Mosun.” “I am actually serious about this, babe. Let me know what happened today jare.” “It was just a meeting, he wants me to be a part of his company, that he would be paying me triple of my present salary, that’s all.” Mosun clasped her hands together. “You don’t know how to gist someone, Feire. I have been teaching you since we were in school! Was this how fast the discussion was?” “Of course, no.” She shrugged. “So why is the gist summarized? Alaye, explain in details jare.” She chuckled. “You are stupid. Please don’t disturb my life.” “Okay, I am begging. I have been bored here since morning, your NEPA people have refused to restore power and I have been waiting for us to chat, don’t spoil today jor.” Feire laughed. “Why didn’t you switch on the generator?” “Was waiting for you to come back.” Feire started explaining how the meeting went to her and how Desmond had called her to find out about the guy she was sitting with. She soon joined her on the popcorn. ** ** ** It was Sunday morning. Desmond had thought it over and again and felt it would be too heartbreaking to tell Feire about the whole issue. It would just be better to play on and tell his parents about Kike, they fake the wedding and maybe break up after some months so he would marry Feire. He went for church service and thought of going to his parents’ place from church. He drove down to his parents’ place. As he got to the gate, he remembered he should have told Kike to follow him so they could see her. He really hoped everything would be coded enough for Feire not to know about the whole issue. He didn’t want to break her heart and didn’t want leave Kike hanging because he felt he was the only help she had. He looked around as he alighted from the car. It’s been few months he came to greet them, greeting them had only caused a discussion of him settling down. At least, the fake news that they were about to hear would make them happy that he was going to obey them. “Mama.” He hugged his mother from behind. It seemed as if they just returned from church too. Her headgear was still on her while his father had already dropped his cap by the edge of the chair, seeing the television. “Desmond, how are you?” Joy flushed through her face. “I am good, mum. Happy Sunday.” “Come and sit down.” He went to greet his father and sat beside him. They were seeing a movie on African Magic; the station they have always loved. “How was service?” He asked as he also looked at the television couple of times. “It was fine dear. Did you go to church too?” His mother asked. “Yes, I thought I should just come and greet you so I am even coming from church directly.” “That’s good of you. Are you going to eat pounded yam too?” He smiled. That was the bonus he always got from visiting his mother again. Why would he say no? “Yes.” “I will just out the yam on fire, you will be one to pound it.” His smile ceased. “I am not sure I am eating again.” She shrugged as she stood up. “Even if you are not eating again, you are still the one who will pound it.” He chuckled. “I am going to eat then. You are not even considerate, I am putting on shirt and tie and I will still be holding the pestle.” “Who else would have pounded for you, Desmond?” His father cut in. He shrugged, “what if I didn’t come here.” “That is another case, but now that you are here you are going to do it.” “Mum, wait. I actually came for something important.” “Can’t it wait till yam is on fire? I am hungry.” His father opposed. “I thought the yam might either burn when we start talking, or it would get cold to use it for pounded yam.” “So what is the subject of discussion?” His father asked. “A lady is pregnant for me.” He spilled. He knew beating around the bush would do nothing than to delay. His head dropped after, not wanting to read the expression on their faces. He knew for sure that he has fumbled for getting a lady pregnant out of wedlock, they would preach the whole King James to him that morning before discussing what they’d have to do. “Desmond.” He heard his mother’s voice approach him. She was already on her way to kitchen before, she had to take a seat beside him. He was not wrong when he said the yam would either burn or get too cold for pounded yam. He could not respond anymore, he wasn’t sure what they were going to say, but he could predict that they would first attack his spiritual life. “And you call yourself a child of God?” He heard his father’s voice. “How could you have slept with a woman you were not married to, Desmond?” His mother’s voice followed the torment. “And you feel that’s good news enough for you to smile in and share?” His father added. “It was a mistake.” He found his voice again. “That means all the while you were in the university that I have been trusting that my son knew God and was consistent in him, you have been doing nonsense with ladies but this only turned out to be pregnancy, right?” “No dad, actually…” “Or maybe they have been aborting, doctor just said this time around she would die if she should abort, who knows?” His mother added more fuel to the fire. He gushed out air from his nostrils with force and wiped his face. “No! I made a mistake and this is the first time it is happening. Things just happened between us and I regret it. I couldn’t have aborted my child, that’s why I am here to tell you about it. You two are making me regret why we never aborted the child.” He blurted out. “Abort the child now, on whose hands would God find the blood? Don’t you know the word of God says the bed should be undefiled? Don’t you know?” His mother began the sermon. Desmond squeezed his face. He saw this coming but never knew it would be up to this level. “Mum, I know the Bible…” “But you never acted it out, son.” His father interrupted again. “What is the essence of knowing God’s word and not applying it to your life? Have you forgotten the book of James that says…” “Dad! I know that scripture, I know it! I am sorry for the mistake I made, these scriptures can’t rectify it now. Let us face the reality of the matter on ground. I am so sorry but what I need now is not the torture by the word of God.” “So what is the next step?” His father asked. He shrugged and began to explain what happened when he went to see her father and all that they told him to do. He was as fast as possible because he couldn’t wait to leave that place. He would have loved to tell them that he was lying all along and that the baby wasn’t his, but they would just warn him not to take the child that isn’t his own and he would now leave Kike without any help? “This type of wedding… Who is the girl in question?” His father asked. “The man’s daughter.” He replied. “No, I thought it was his mother. What is her name!” He hit the sofa. “Kike. She is the only child of her parents.” “So what do you feel?” His father asked his wife. She shrugged. “What else? When the knife cuts the hand of the child and the child throws it away, hasn’t the knife accomplished its mission already? I just feel we should just play our part so we don’t elaborate what is not.” She replied. The father sighed. ** ** ** Feire was back home from church. As much as she didn’t like Mosun’s stress, she would miss her now that she had gone after the church service. She was back to her boring apartment. She needed to do something to get her busy or probably go out before she gets to plan how the shows of the week would go. She barely sat down when she remembered she hasn’t told Desmond about the job offer contract and seek his opinion if she should go for it. It might be a perfect excuse to get out of the house and go visit him, she had thought as she picked her phone. Desmond was on his way out of his parent’s place when he got her call. His heart almost skipped a beat because he felt she had heard what happened. He picked and tried to mask his feelings as much as he could. He told her he would come to meet her at home so they could talk better since Mosun already left. Feire was in the kitchen when he arrived. The rice was almost ready and she still had stew in her refrigerator that she just warmed. She hugged him and told him to sit by the dining so he would be close to the kitchen, or better still, come to the kitchen to join her. He joined her in the kitchen, though just sat down as he watched her bring down the stew from fire and also get the sieve she would use for the rice. “So how was service?” She asked him. “Fine, what about yours?” She nodded. “It went well. We actually had something like family talk today and it really made sense. If I had known that would be this Sunday’s theme, I would have pulled you to my church.” She winked. He smiled. “I am a worker in my own church too.” He replied. “It doesn’t matter. I think I have the topic for my show for this week. The pastor was sharing some experiences of how some marriages worked out, I didn’t even believe such marriages would work out. He talked about forgiveness, not hiding something from your partner and a lot of them…” Desmond cut in. “I thought you wanted to talk to me about the contract deal, Feire.” He was not in the mood for all that, especially now that it had to do with marriage issue. “You missed a lot jor, am I not just trying to update you?” “Let me know the contract details so we can decide.” He repeated. “Okay.” She began to explain to him. “Are you sure it is not you this guy is trying to get, Feire?” She smiled and winked. “You know how hot I am, you’re just lucky you’re the one in charge.” He hissed. “Answer me, Feire.” He seemed too serious for her play. She frowned. “Why are you giving me attitude this afternoon? Did anything happen in church?” He shook his head. “I am not just in the mood this afternoon.” He replied. She served the food and led the way to the dining. “Is there anything wrong with you that I need to know?” She crossed her hand across his neck as they sat on the dining. He shook his head again. “Are you sure?” She asked again. “I am serious. I think I just need quality rest.” “What are you saying about the deal?” “I feel you should not do it. I think the man just wants to get closer to you, Feire. Who gives triple amount of salary just like that? What is so special about your shows?” He blurted. Feire was quiet. Her eyes were looking straight as she seemed to have gotten lost. It took few seconds before Desmond noticed that she was lost. “Feire!” He called. She slowly turned her face towards him and stared at him. “What is it?” He asked her. “What is so special about my shows?” She sounded irritated. “Oh… that’s not what I meant. I was just trying to say why would he want to give you triple of your present salary because of just one show, Feire. Don’t misunderstand me, babe.” “Are you telling me not to take this job because of insecurity?” She dropped her spoon. “Why would be insecure? See, Feire it has nothing to do with it. I am just trying to help you out here. Okay, go for it then.” “Do you think I would leave you for him, Desmond?” “Stop this, Feire. Should I not tell you what I feel about an issue ever again?” “I just feel this particular one is to the extreme, Desmond. I can sense it in you as though you feel the man would make out with me, like I would reduce myself that low also or could it be the salary?” Desmond smiled. “I am sorry, I think you just misunderstood me. You know what, just take the job, so you don’t feel I don’t trust you or I am threatened by the salary.” “Why did you leave that place early that day, Desmond? I tried following you but you have gone far. What happened?” “I got a call, I had to attend to something urgently.” “What was it?” He frowned. “Why are you trying to get words out of me this afternoon, Feire? Is it that you don’t trust me?” “Stop that, don’t even try to take the issue to that direction so as to avoid my question. Where did you go to?” “Kike called me, it was concerning the job on ground, Feire.” “I trust you and I totally believe you. I was only bothered because I wanted to meet you but as I got out, I didn’t see you anymore. I drove after you but you were still nowhere to be found. Are you sure all is well with you? I don’t know why I am losing my peace that you are alright? Is the work posing threats?” “No dear. Not at all. It’s just stressful and Kike herself has been stressful. She likes things being too perfect.” “Okay.” “So are you going to take the job?” He asked her. “Sure. If you can work with Kike and not be affected, I should be able to work with him too without any strings attached.” She replied. Desmond lost his voice. ** ** ** ..to be continued... |

EPISODE FOUR Desmond breathed in and out but air wouldn’t enter his lungs. He starved for air as his heart raced tremendous speed. He stood right there for what felt like eternity but it was five minutes. Kike just wrote his trouble series! She told him her father said he would like to meet him immediately. How did the parents even find out about the pregnancy? How? He has entered this hot pot of soup and no one can show up to help him out. He tried to push his feelings down but he couldn’t. The face of Kike’s father flashed back into his mind and he wanted to tremble. How would he do it now? What would happen to Feire? Everything was happening so fast, so fast that he was now confused on what to do. He didn’t know if he should tell Feire about the issue or just play along as the father of the unborn kid, or possibly go to meet Kike’s parents to tell them the truth. He gathered himself after spending extra minutes outside and he walked back inside. He told his friends he had to leave at that moment because it was an emergency call for him. He barely waited to entertain questions before he hurried out of the place. Feire was seeing everything but was wondering why he could have been rushing, she first felt he was rushing because he already saw her with someone but she saw him when he went outside to receive his call. She didn’t want to interfere because of the presence of his friends. She shook Fola and told him she was ready to take her leave, at least there was nothing more for them to also discuss. She fastened her steps even though Fola followed her to see her off to her car. As she got outside, she couldn’t find Desmond again. She first stood, wondering how he could have left that place so early. She hoped something bad was not happening with the facial expression and rush he left that place with. She hopped into her car and hoped she would get to meet him on the road, if not, she was going home and would call him later to know what went wrong with him. ** ** ** Kike paced around her room. She wasn’t really that kind of person, but letting Uche father her kid? No! She wouldn’t allow that for a second. She has been in awe over and again on what could have made her give in to him. He raped her! Yes, he did. Though it didn’t look as though it was by force, she was drunk and he took advantage of that and had his way. He was not even in the office of being a father, nothing for her child to emulate, not to talk of loving her deeply. She hoped she was not making mistake by hiding who the original father of the child was, but what would she do? Abort? No way! She woke up that morning and it was too hard to hide the morning sickness of that day, little did she know her mother has been paying close attention to her, she tried to deny when her mother suddenly walked up to her and asked her if she was pregnant but at the mention of visiting the hospital, she confessed. She had vomited that morning and already told them she was feeling feverish earlier than then. She didn’t know who else to tell them than Desmond. Her father has been quiet since then, just told her to invite Desmond because he would love to meet him immediately. She wished she could ask him why he wanted to see Desmond, but she was sure it was not for him to be dealt with. She already made it clear to them that it was with her consent, so they wouldn’t think that she was raped. She picked her mobile phone to call her but dropped it again. She didn’t want to be on his neck and also didn’t know the hint to give him because she really didn’t know what was in her father’s mind. She just needed him to help her out of this mess, if not, she would tell her parents the real father and wouldn’t want to end up with Uche. Sitting down, her mind crawled back to what she just thought about. Could it be that there is something inside her that really wanted to settle down for Desmond? She didn’t know. She liked him, yes he is handsome and eloquent, just the way she would love her guy to be but it wasn’t as though she specially thought in her mind that she would want to marry him or let him end up with her. An average person would see her as a devil, but it wasn’t as if she wanted to destroy Desmond and she knew him to be single. Though, they’ve never talked about it, but she knew that if a guy has no interest in a lady he’s getting close to, he would show his babe off, or at least mention her once in a while but he’s never mentioned that there’s any girl somewhere, so she felt him to be the best one to stand by her. She heard a knock by the gate and whisked to her feet. That should be Desmond. What should she expect? She slammed the door as she left the room and dashed downstairs. She opened the door to the living room and stood by it as she watched him walk in. He surely didn’t have the liver to drive his car inside the compound that day. Desmond, on his own side walked into the compound and the beauty he saw in the compound suddenly disappeared. His eyes were seeing something farther than beautiful house at this time. He sighted Kike by the door and tried to calm himself down with the thought that she would stand up to defend him. Kike signaled to him to come inside the house, opening the door wider for him and he was expecting her to come outside and close the door so they could talk before he enters the house and end up scattering everything. He stared at her with a blank expression as he entered the living room. “I am sorry.” She whispered to Desmond as he entered the living room. His mind relaxed, not seeing her father on seat was a relief. He faced her but didn’t know what to say. “Why? Kike, why me?” He whispered back. “There was nothing I could do anymore, Des. They already found out and I couldn’t have mentioned Uche. I had to just tell them the truth, Des.” “But this isn’t the truth. What if I am ruined by this so called truth?” “Nothing can happen. I believe he only wants to meet you on the platter of questions and answer, Des. I am sorry, I couldn’t do anything at that time again. “What if Uche finds out this is for him?” He pointed to the tummy. “Who knows about it apart from you and I? Who will tell him?” He scratched his head. “Young man, welcome.” He heard the voice of her father approaching the living room. Kike showed him to a seat instantly and sat beside him. “I am going to defend us.” She told him. “Us.” Desmond repeated and gave a dry smile. “Good morning sir.” He dashed to his feet as he saw him. The father stood and stared at him for a moment. He couldn’t not figure out any expression on his face until he took his eyes off him and was looking down. “Good morning..” He repeated before the father had his seat opposite him. “So what is your plan now?” He asked him. Desmond looked at Kike. What was he supposed to say? “Sit down.” Kike’s father addressed and he sat down. His glance shuttled between Kike and her father. “Em… plans, sir… I…” He began to stutter. “See, you don’t need all these that you are doing. I know my daughter well and even though I am so disappointed in her, I am not going to let you off the hook. I don’t mean any harm, I just need to hear a word from you, once I hear it, forget it, our meeting has ended.” “The pregnancy was a mistake sir.” He started. “Okay?” “I take full responsibility for it sir.” “Okay?” He scratched his head again and looked at Kike if there was something he needed to say again that he hasn’t said. Kike too knew what should be said but was afraid it was hard to tell him this was what her father was expecting from him. She didn’t know how she would interrupt the discussion at this point and wouldn’t want it to be that it is from her mouth her father heard what he wanted. “Oh…” Desmond’s mind thought of something. He heaved a sigh and finally opened his mouth. “I love her sir.” “You don’t even have a choice, you couldn’t have slept with someone you hated.” Her father’s reply was sharp and unapologetic. “I am going to… em… I am going to marry her sir.” He finally dropped the bombshell. “Good. I need the whole processing to start almost immediately. Her tummy must not protrude before she leaves this house. That means, she has to get married latest a month’s time.” “Ah!” Desmond exclaimed. “What? Were you not planning to marry my daughter before pounding her like yam?” “No sir, I am going to marry her sir.” “Don’t worry, every finance is on me. In fact, I am going to supply everything you will need to be a good husband and a quality father. It will be a reproach for me that my daughter got pregnant and is living under my roof. I have no issue with you, this mistake has happened and we can’t start fighting you two because of the mistake you have made, but the thing we can do very quickly is to rectify this mistake. Do you understand?” “Yes sir.” “So don’t think I am trying to enforce my daughter or trying to enforce marriage. No! But it would be bad if that child is born without a father figure and it would also be bad if she starts carrying her tummy all around with ring in her finger. I don’t want to be named the name my parents didn’t give me.” He sighed again. “Sir, can I talk sir?” “Don’t see me as wicked or heartless, Desmond. You have become my son-in-law and you can express your mind.” He replied him. “Thank you sir.” He glanced at her again before facing her father. “Sir, I am also concerned about the plans I have… sorry, I meant that the plans we have, sir. I am thinking one month is too close, sir.” “Desmond, one month is too far. By one month she would have had a protruded tummy. You two have made a mistake and I wouldn’t sit and watch the mistake kill the two of you. You have to rise as early as possible. See, I am going to transfer a lot of my business to you, Desmond. If it is the financial aspect, forget it, I cannot send my daughter out and expect her to feed on grass. But!” His facial expression changed. “But if I find out that you are maltreating her, or you don’t love her like you have told me, I won’t pity you at all, Desmond. I am not going to pity you!” Desmond stuttered. “I won’t do such sir.” “So when do we expect your parents, Desmond.” He heard from her mother, approaching them. His breathing was heavy and his heart was racing. He looked at Feire again. “I am going to tell them about it sir, they will come as early as possible ma.” “Please do, we have started the whole preparation from this moment.” She replied him. “Yes ma.” Kike dropped her head. She has landed him in deep shit. ** ** ** “I am sorry.” She begged him. He dropped his head on the steering rack. Frustration was the least of what was flowing through him that moment. He hated himself. “Is it too late to tell them the truth?” He asked her without batting eyelids, he wished he could just close his eyes, open it again and see that it was all settled. Her face wrinkled as if she wanted to cry. “Please Desmond, help me. There is no other person who can help me except you.” “See, only Jesus can help a man. He is the savior, he is the one who knows how to help. Didn’t you hear all the things your dad said? I am done for.” She sighed. “What do we do, Desmond?” He looked away. The two were in his car, outside the compound. He didn’t know the deep mess he has landed himself into. Why did he ever meet her? Why? Would he leave Feire now and marry Kike at this stage? Marrying her would have been easier if she was not carrying another man’s baby, it would be explosive when the father of the child finds out that he has a child with her. He dropped his head on the steering again. “I am sorry, Desmond.” She repeated. “So the end of everything now is that I marry you, right? See, can’t we just abort this baby and tell them it’s a miscarriage?” “Were you not the one talking about Jesus now, Desmond? How did you quickly divert your thought towards this angle? Abortion?” “See, let us put spirituality to one side and face the reality, Kike. Don’t you know this thing is hard? It is! It is just as if I have been snared.” She sighed. “So abortion, right?” He glanced at her and looked away. His conscience could not allow him speak. That’s murder! But leaving Feire too is equally like killing her. When would her suspicion not be justified? “Don’t kill the baby. I think I will just get back to you, Kike.” She was relieved. “Please Desmond, I am sorry. I just need you to help me out.” “This is no longer help, Kike. It is now marriage. I am not even ready for it. Having money is not the criterion for this thing, I have never planned my tomorrow with you, not to talk of future. It is not easy getting married to you and living with the child of another man. I think I just need to be alone and think. I am burning out.” “I will just leave.” She said and alighted. He watched her leave and kicked the engine. He had to just go home. ** ** ** ...to be continued... |

EPISODE THREE EPISODE THREE “Okay… Em, Desmond.” She called. “Yeah? I am listening to you, Kike.” “I am pregnant.” She dropped and stood up, pacing around the balcony with her right hand rubbing her head. Desmond just rested his back against the chair with his eyeballs double the previous size. How could she be pregnant? He has never seen her as a person like that. Okay, they have never talked about if any of them is seeing another fellow, they just used it to tease each other and get to talk about another thing, he never knew she was seeing someone, or could it possibly be that she just had a one night stand with someone and it resulted into this? “How sure are you?” He asked her. “I am very sure. I have been seeing signs, I bought the pregnancy kit and the result was positive, Desmond.” “Wow! You can’t rely on that kit alone, Kike. I guess you should visit…” She interrupted. “I have gone to the hospital, the result is still positive.” She replied and sat by his side back. Desmond didn’t know what to say at that moment. It was hard to now start questioning how it happened, who it happened with and what she would want him to do. But no matter how hard, the truth must be spilled at this juncture. “Who’s the father?” He finally summoned courage. “His name is Fred. You know what, I made a huge mistake and he took advantage of me, Desmond. That guy is such a big bastard! He is a son of a bitch!” She hit Desmond as she spoke. “Calm down, Kike. Let us solve this one by one. Okay, who is Fred? Is he your boyfriend?” She looked away for a moment and faced Desmond back. “We have broken up. I broke up with him that same day I found out that he slept with me. Listen, Desmond I was drunk, or should I say he got me drunk and boom! I woke up the following morning with towel wrapped around me. I broke up that morning.” “Wow. That’s like how many weeks ago?” “They said the pregnancy is four weeks old, Desmond. It is a month already.” “Please, Kike. Abortion is not an option.” He started with. “I am not planning to kill this fruit God has given me and I am not planning to give birth to him and name him or her a mistake. That is why I have called you.” “Okay, what’s the plan you have?” “My parents don’t know Fred. They have met him once, but I never told them he was my boyfriend. I have also been planning to break up with this idiot for a while now because he doesn’t love me, Des. He is such a freaking annoying guy. All he has ever cared for is my body, assessing my bust, hips and acts in such a weird way. I don’t know how on earth I gave in for that kind of person. I don’t want him to father my child.” “You should have known him well before going into the relationship with him, Kike. How come I didn’t even suspect all these while? When are you planning to tell dad?” “When you finally hear what my plan is and you agree.” “Okay, I am listening.” “I want you to stand as the father.” She dropped. “Ehn?” ** ** ** It was not the tiredness that got Desmond pacing around the room, he was tired and now what Kike has placed before him seemed more than him. He couldn’t give her any response. He was just there like a lady flabbergasted after she’s been asked out by a guy. So this is how they feel when it comes unexpected? He needed time to think about it and be sure he would not heap coals of fire on his own head. He turned off the switch and landed on his mattress without removing his shoes, soon he stood up again and restlessly rushed to the switch to on the light. What should I do? He kept asking himself as he murmured. Would it be bad if he should help her out of this mess? What if Feire gets to know about it and she wouldn’t know that he was just an actor in this script. His head was full but his mind was unproductive. As much questions running around, he had no precise answer to give. He finally landed on the bed and slept off by 1a.am ** ** ** It was just 7a.m. and Mosun already woke up. She connected her phone to the home theatre sound system in the living room to play some songs while she went to wake Feire up so they could get busy. She had told her before that she wanted them to make some pancakes together with maple syrup. Feire brushed to her feet as she hit her. If she says that was the only problem of her life, she was right. Mosun would annoy you to the brim and you would have no choice than to forgive her whenever she starts making that forgiveness-seeking face. “It is morning, baby. No sleep for the wicked.” She teased Feire. Feire yawned. “I will join you, let me just brush.” She replied her. “Be fast, let me start getting some things ready.” “But wait, why on earth are you playing songs this loud by this time of the morning? Today is Saturday and we’ve got to remember some people had a stressful week and might want to just rest today but this your song is enough to wake the entire neighborhood, babe.” “This is not too loud, Feire. Meet me.” She left her room. Feire headed to the bathroom to brush her teeth and go meet this stressful lady before she would come and trouble her once more. She soon joined her in the kitchen. “Okay, let me start by teaching you how to make the maple syrup. You know you are my daughter, you don’t know all these things.” “Abeg, spare me that.” Feire grinned. “Explain it, it is something I can do too. I don’t know what’s up with this mouth-making.” Mosun grinned. She started giving her the recipe as she showed her some ingredients she brought. They were still on it when she remembered Desmond. “How far with Desmond? Have you guys spoken?” She asked. “No. I should call him when I am done here.” They soon finished in the kitchen and Feire anticipated meeting the notification that she has missed his call or maybe he has sent her a message nut she met none. She hoped it wasn’t that he was still angry with her. She decided to call him before taking her pancake. “Hey dear.” She greeted as he picked the call. “Hello Feire, good morning.” He replied with the bedroom voice. He was surely just waking up. “Oh, did I wake you up? I am sorry about that.” “It’s nothing. How are you?” He asked “I am fine dear, what about you?” “Yeah, I am fine.” She replied and there was a short silence before she added, “I am sorry about yesterday.” “Stop doing like a child, that one is gone. So, what is your plan for today?” She shrugged. “Nothing yet. But I doubt if I am going out, except I need to go out.” She replied. “Oh, no problem. Let me call you later.” “Okay.” They ended the call. He sounded okay with her on phone, Feire felt nothing was wrong again. Perhaps he could visit again that day because she said she was not going out. ** ** ** Desmond sat up on his bed. It was a short night for him because he slept late and the issue was still a weight that wants to glue him to the bed. If he should turn her down, she would feel bad and might cause her a lot of trouble with her parents, if he should also agree, what if they turn everything to reality? Why would she ask him to help her? Why! He hit his bed as he dropped his phone. His mind flashed back to when his mother was discussing with him about getting married early and not thinking of using pension to train any child like she did. His mother has talked to him about it uncountable times but now bringing Kike to the scene, is this not a big trouble? What if her parents turn it to reality for him? Or if they should get annoyed and determined to lock him up because he slept with their daughter? He really wouldn’t want to turn her down, also he wouldn’t want to put himself in a cage he would be for life. How would he father a child that is not his? His scratched his head as though an answer would fall if he did. Telling his friends would be the ugliest thing. They know nothing about his relationship with Feire, they would surely encourage him to go ahead. If not for anything, for the deal they had on ground which has been making him hide his relationship from them, they would just encourage him to go with Kike, thinking he would fall for her at the end of the day and they would benefit. Could it also be trap by Kike? What if she’s not pregnant and she is just trying to get him pinned to herself? He heaved a sigh. His phone buzzed and reached for it. It was Bayo, his friend. ** ** ** “How can I block a number, Mosun?” Feire asked with irritation rubbed around her face. Mosun stared at her. “Who do you want to block?” Feire breathed slowly as though she was trying to suppress her anger. “I don’t even know how he got my number, he has been telling me he wants to meet me, Mosun. I have told him never to call me again, I have almost cursed him but he is calling me now.” She replied. “Who is he?” Mosun asked. “He said he is the director of Steel FM and he would want us to meet. I don’t know how he got my mobile number in the first place, I hope they know I am not like some OAPs who sleep around for jobs and recognition. I run my show in…” “OAP Feire, just calm down.” Mosun cut in. “You can’t understand dear. I know this is how they got Zainab at our office. All these director people who would say they want you to join their company and pay you more and end up sleeping with you for that cause.” She snapped again. “Feire, I said calm down!” Feire was quiet. “You don’t know who your destiny helper will be, dear. You don’t even know where next you are going to in life and if this is the person God has sent to help you out. Listen dear, there are crazy men out there, I mean extremely crazy men are outside there, but not all men are crazy, not all men get directed by sex! This guy might mean a good things for you.” Feire chuckled. “I know what I have seen in this our so called industry. I know the number of backs they’ve laid down so they can become popular OAPs.” “But you have your standards, dear. I would say you should meet him and hear him out, know what he wants to say before you assume for everyone out there.” Feire gave it a short thought. Mosun was actually right. At least, Desmond has never asked her for her body and he has been loving. What if this man just wants to help her out without any string attached? She looked at Mosun. “So you said I should meet him, right?” “Sure. I think that is the best thing. If he says nonsense, block him and even his generations. That someone is thirsty does not mean he should drink from the gutter, that you are looking for higher pay and comfort does not mean that you should give your body in exchange. Clear him well and leave his side if he says nonsense. Let him know you are different.” “Okay, so how do I go about it now?” Mosun smiled. “Call him back, you are the one who didn’t pick his call. Be as nice as possible, that might be your boss in some weeks’ time.” Feire hissed. “Let’s see how it goes.” She picked her phone to dial his number. ** ** ** ”Baba how far now?” Desmond heard from the other end of the phone. It was Bayo, his friend. “I’m good. Good morning.” “You just dey wake up ni? Where you dey?” Bayo asked him. “At home, what’s up? What of Subby?” “He is here. We dey reason make we go out this morning, make we go chop pizza and coldstone.” Bayo told him. “You want me to follow you guys, right?” Desmond asked. “Not necessarily, guy. We just want to knw if you’d be interested.” He replied. “Okay, make we gather go.” He replied. It came right on time. He didn’t want to go see Feire because Mosun would still be around and because of what was lurking around his heart at that moment. He also couldn’t not see Kike because of what was going on. Bayo and Subby were his closest friends, his partners in crime and apparently the crime they were presently committing. The three were roommates back in University days but Desmond pulled out when they were done with service. They served in different states and this has made Desmond love his privacy and couldn’t join them when they were back to Lagos. That was how they used to go out back in university days. They were not fans of the belief that one is meant to suffer and be lean when in school, they opposed the motion with their frequent outing. They were like the best set of people he has ever met even before meeting Feire. Each of them has his own amusing and annoying behavior and they have been together now for over five years. Why could they be going out and they called him? Or was it a sign from God that he should tell his friends about the issue so they could advise him? These ones would just laugh at him. ** ** ** “So we should meet at Dominos by 10a.m?” Feire asked before she ended the call. She looked at Mosun and shrugged. “Who discusses business at Dominos?” “Why can’t business be discussed over pizza and coldstone?” Feire laughed. “You are a goat. I think I should tell Desmond before I go.” Mosun shook her head. “Just go see him and give Desmond the feedback. He knows the guy has been calling you, right?” “Sure, I told him.” “So, go and see him and you will tell him what happened when you guys see.” Feire still dialed his mobile number but he didn’t pick her call. She only liked being plain with him so he wouldn’t feel she was hiding anything from him. ** ** ** Feire walked towards the young man waving as removed her phone from her ear. She was calling to know where he was seated. She was on time but still met him there. “Good morning sir.” She greeted him as she had her seat. “Good morning, Feire.” He stretched his hand for a shake. “It’s so nice meeting you.” “Same here.” She gave a fake smile and shook him. “Pizza?” He asked her. She never thought about that before she went there. If she should eat of whatever he buys for her or just decline. Eating pizza wouldn’t be bad, she felt and nodded. “Okay.” The young man who is in his mid-twenties stood up and went on to order pizza for them. He came back with the box of pizza and went back again to pick their drinks. “Here.” He gave her one of the two and sat down. “Thank you sir.” She smiled. “Please, don’t use sir for me. My name is Fola.” He introduced. “I am Feire.” “Okay.” He opened the pizza and picked a slice. “Don’t be shy around me, so pick the pizza as I discuss with you.” “I’m not shy.” She didn’t know why she wasn’t shy though, but she was so sure of herself. She picked the pizza and ate. “So, Mr. Fola.” She called his name and widened her eyes, giving a signal that he should talk about what the came there for, apart from pizza. “I own Steel FM and I would want you to work with us. I don’t want to bore you with my long talks and that is why I am going straight to the matter.” He reeled out. She breathed heavy as she dropped her hand. “May I know why you want me in your radio station and… like, why?” He smiled. He was a handsome guy dressed in a blue shirt and red tie, looking dapper and neat. “I have listened to your show over and again and I love your show, Feire. I feel you are the one Steel FM has been waiting for so as to make a new headway. And I have seen your pictures a couple of times and I like you. That is why I took it upon myself to convince you to join us.” She took another bite of the pizza. “I actually wouldn’t want to do this. I am comfortable where I am, getting paid, have a lot of friends I work with, now leaving them for Steel FM where I know no one I don’t think that will be the best thing I would want now.” She replied. “Okay, Feire I understand you and I want you know I am ready to pay you heavily for this. I don’t know how much you earn but what if I am willing to pay you three times of that amount?” She tried to mask her shocking feeling. She was shocked and it was hard to hide. Yes, she’s being paid well, but getting the three times of that amount would be a wow. She didn’t know what to say for a moment. “What of my show? I have fans who follow me and suddenly just move to another radio station, I know I am going to lose a lot of fans.” “Feire, the end of this proposal is for these fans of yours to remain your fans but a regular visitor of our radio frequency. We only want you to bring people to travel down to our frequency from the frequency of your present radio station. We need an increase in our TRP.” “Same as my Roxy FM, Fola.” She said. “That is why we are willing to triple the price to give us what we want, Feire. You know what, I would want you to go back and reminisce on it for a day or two, let me know your final decision then so you wouldn’t make this decision out of hurry.” “Er… okay. But you haven’t even asked me how much I make at Roxy FM.” He grinned. “I am going to afford the triple of it, I know that.” She chuckled. “What exactly is backing up this your pride?” “Er… You can call it certainty instead of pride.” “I don’t know, I just don’t see it that way. But, no problem, maybe I would just get back to you on the proposal. But I still need to know some things.” He nodded. “I am with you.” “What are the contract statements? On what grounds am I standing on?” He smiled. “Actually, I would want you to be handling two shows on our platform. That is going to be yours and another one which is my initiative. I know you to be creative and one who carries her audience along. Then, you have the liberty to tell me the number of times you want to run your show per week, or you stick to running it once.” “So my work would still double.” “But remember, if I pay you triple of your present salary, you are going to be the highest paid OAP at least in our station, I don’t know about yours.” “You mouth is too sweet!” She grinned. “It has to be, if not, one wouldn’t be able to get the fish into the oil.” Feire’s phone buzzed and it was Desmond. “Please excuse me, I have to pick this call.” She stood up, making her way outside. “Hello.” “Where are you?” She heard his voice. “I am at Dominos, I came to speak to that guy I have been telling you about. He is offering me a cool contract and I don’t know if I should go with it.” “But you told me you were not going anywhere today, Feire.” “Yeah, I am sorry. I didn’t know he would call and ask us to meet and I called you instantly too.” She replied. “I am in the same place with you and I have been looking at you. I just wanted to know if you would lie to me about where you were.” “I have no cause to lie, stop behaving like a kid. Speak up, what should I do about the contract?” “Let us talk about it later.” The call ended. ** ** ** Desmond and his friends sat at a corner, eating and playing. He has seen Feire since she came in and the guy went to buy the pizza. He didn’t know what to do because his thoughts had gone so wild. He had to stand up and go to the restroom before he called her so his friends wouldn’t know or suspect that he was calling a lady. He barely sat back when his phone buzzed again and it was Kike. Bayo’s eyes caught the name of the caller and he winked. “We will soon know the truth, Desmond. No be one Kike dey call you now?” “Can’t I have any female call my line? You people should gather sense o.” He stood up to go and receive the call. “You have to tell us o, who is Kike.” He grinned. “You guys are not serious.” He walked out. “Hello Kike.” “Desmond, my parents have found out about it. I told them you are the one.” He froze. ...TO BE CONTINUED... www.temitopedaniel. |

EPISODE TWO What was really going through Feire’s mind? She knew it! She has been saying it over and again that this guy is a cheat. Where and when did Kike come into this equation now? The suspense was hitting her like a hammer as she waited for him to reply her, but he was just there, his head was dropped down and that was really confirming the doubts lurking around the heart of Feire. “Desmond!” She called his name aloud again. “She is just a friend, Feire. Why are you thinking like this?” Feire clasped her hands together, turning at half an angle at a point, just like the way those typical African mothers’ clap; laugh and watch you as though you’d be dead if they rush you. “Please dear, what friend? You have never told me about Kike, I am just hearing about her now.” Mosun was trying to study the flow of the discussion. She hoped she has not caused problem now, could it be that Feire was seeing Desmond? “Em..” She tried to talk but still lost her voice. “Can we just calm down and let me explain. Let us stop assuming things and hear my truthful part of this story.” Desmond chewed his bottom lip. “Can we sit down, please?” “What do we have to discuss on seat? This discussion started on our feet, let us not scam ourselves here, Des. Who is Kike?” “Kike is a lady I ran into sometimes back, I believe she should be your boss, right?” He turned to Mosun. “Yes, something like that.” She replied. “Okay, good. I ran into this lady at Ikeja sometimes back and she was talking to me about how she would want to build a complex at Ikeja and her plans. So I told her to give me the contract and that’s how we became friends. I was still going to tell you about her, Feire.” Feire chuckled and clasped her hands again. “Desmond, don’t take me for a fool, please. I am sensible enough to know the truth from a blatant lie. How did you run into her? You guys just started talking? And what project is that project that you never mentioned to me, guy.” “Babes, calm down. I was coming from her this evening. Should I put a call through and place it on loudspeaker so you would believe me? Then, how many times have you seen us go out?” He faced Mosun again. “I don’t know the number of times, I only saw you twice.” “The first time, dear her car broke down and she told me to come pick her up so we can have a meeting.” Feire grinned. “Guy, you come pick her up? Firstly, why didn’t you do the meeting in her office?” Desmond sighed. He was running out of words to explain himself. Who is this demon Mosun who just appeared from nowhere and had no sense of quietness to study an atmosphere before jumping? His points were quite whack but he knew he wasn’t lying. “By the way, you still haven’t answered my first question, Desmond. How did you run into her?” “Okay, can you remember the dent by the side of my car?” Feire was losing it. She needed him to talk. Though, it appears as if nothing said would change her mindset that Desmond was playing pranks on her. She has been played. Like, just used all along. She was not even sure she still had the capacity to listen to anything, what has her question got to do with the dent by his car? She put the dent or what? She tittered and sat down, looking away from him and Mosun. “Just let me talk, dear. You are just acting like this because you have been keeping some unnecessary things in your mind.” She looked at him with grimace. “Because of today’s show? Desmond, reactions explain issues, not words. I saw how you reacted when she began to talk about that lady.” “Please, Feire what is going on here?” Mosun asked. Guilt was already whipping her, she wished she tamed her tongue early enough. Desmond reached for his phone and punched some buttons, after some seconds, the phone was kept on loudspeaker and it was obvious he was calling. “Hey Kike.” “Desmond, have you gotten home?” The voice asked. “No, I am somewhere, doing something. What about you?” “I just got home. I am very tired. Thank you for helping out today as well.” “You are welcome. I want to ask you few questions and I want you to just answer me, alright?” “Okay. What is it?” “How did we meet?” He asked. “Why are you suddenly..” “Just answer me.” Desmond cut in again. “Was it not your disorganized self that hit my car when you were trying to get out of the mall and I didn’t take the issue up because I can’t even talk, abeg. Then you introduced yourself and I told you about my project and that I just thought of reaching out to civil engineers and architects for the work, so we exchanged digits. What exactly is wrong?” “The day I came to your office, what exactly did I come for?” “Which of the days?” “Oh, that is true.” Desmond recalled. “The two times.” “Why these questions? Am I on loudspeaker? Or are you with your girl?” She said with a teasing tone. “You are not serious. Just answer me.” He grinned. “The first time, my car broke down and we needed to meet with that cement guy, so you came to pick me. The second time, it was raining that day now, can you remember?” “Sure.” “You came to pick me for lunch and we discussed over the lunch.” “What discussion?” “The Ikeja project now, and I was telling you about my stressful dad.” “Okay, thank you. Let me call you back.” He said and ended the call. He looked at Mosun and Feire and slid his phone down his pocket, picked his handkerchief on the chair and began to walk out. “Desmond wait.” Feire rushed to her feet to stop him. “I am not angry, I am not just in the mood to say anything for now. I will see you later.” He told her as he walked out Feire stood by the door and watched him leave before she turned and glared at Mosun. “You are a big goat.” Mosun hissed, smiling as she sat down. ** ** ** Desmond entered his car and placed his head on the steering rack. He didn’t know if he told the truth or he lied. Yes, that was how the two of them met but things have gone deeper than he explained. He was not exactly wrong but he was already getting so close to Kike and he could sense that she was liking him already. He knew all there was to their sudden closeness and friendship was not the big deal alone. She was beautiful, intellectually sound and financially loaded. He bashed her car and he was ready to amend it that day, he noticed that her eyes burned with an unusual look and interest in him and he didn’t let it slide away, he gave her his card at once. He was too charming to check once and take eyes off, she was also a wholesome and hot lady, her eyes spoke some languages to him and he didn’t hesitate to reply. He went to her office the first time so he could help her to the meeting place not because her car was spoilt, he also knew it but didn’t know what was sponsoring his moves. He knew the truth but could not help but disguise. He was the one who also brought up the idea of them meeting for lunch so they could talk. He wanted to keep seeing that charm in her eyes, study her to know if she liked him. The purpose why he has been doing all, he didn’t even know. He was not sure if he was already falling for her or he was just playing her but he knew there was more to her case. He jacked his head up and used his seatbelt. He had to leave there at that moment before Feire could come out and meet him. He barely kicked the engine when his phone buzzed. It was Kike. He had to just clear his mind and push it aside so Feire would not end up thinking that he has been doing all he did. “Hey.” He knew she had called to ask why he called her the other time. His head was trying to process the best thing to say to her but nothing was flowing. “Can you come over?” She asked him. His eyes thinned. “To where?” “My place. I want us to have dinner and I also want to discuss something with you. At least, today’s Friday and you have no excuse that you are going to work tomorrow.” He sighed. “Kike…” “Don’t Kike me, Desmond. Have some nice time, have some fun, guy.” He chuckled. “You know the massive traffic outside there, today is Friday.” “So? No matter the traffic, if someone is important won’t you find how to reach the fellow?” He was quiet for a moment, trying to process what he could do. “Okay, send me the full address.” “Yay! I would do that now.” Desmond dropped the phone and shut his eyes, thinking. Nothing was appearing in his imagination so he let it go and drove off. ** ** ** Feire sat by the dining. She was sad that she has not been trusting her guy because of their secrecy and it was already becoming something else because of what happened. If she had not been telling him to show her to his friends and let her show him to hers, how would Mosun have known anything, not to talk of accusing him? She was enjoying her relationship with him. He was like the best thing that has happened to her for a year now; so caring and loving, challenges her, checks up anytime she’s down, the same one who has never asked for sex. “Why didn’t you tell me about him?” Mosun’s voice jolted her back to reality. “Now that I did, am I not regretting it?” Mosun left the living room to join Feire. She sat down by the chair by her side and removed her wig as she yawned. “Wig na bondage, Feire. You know, the funny thing about it is that the guys you are even trying to do everything for, they are not looking at someone, they will be busy looking for ladies with big buttocks and chest.” Feire hissed. “What has that got to do with the crime you have committed?” Mosun yawned again. “I didn’t commit any crime, Feire. I didn’t know who he was to you, or should I say who he is? See, I’m tired, someone is not even speaking correct English again.” “Mosun, do you think Desmond was angry?” Mosun shrugged. “How would I know? I don’t know him because you didn’t tell me about him. How could you have hidden such a thing from me, Feire. Is this how life is? When I had issues with Mike the other time, you didn’t only know I was in a relationship, you knew I had issue. Feire, I told you about every damn issue!” “Stop making me feel guilty so as to cover up your sin!” She retorted. “That isn’t what I am doing, bae. I am seriously pained.” She looked away. It was obvious her mind was written all over her face, but what could Feire also do? Perhaps she should have told her and also add that she should keep it a secret from any other person. She thought about doing something like that but she knew that’s how Mosun whose mouth never closes would tell another person and tell her to keep it a secret. “I am sorry. Are you fine now?” Feire hit her shoulder. Mosun smiled. “Okay, I have forgiven you by half. That reminds me, do you know Mike called me day before yesterday that he wants to come back, Feire.” They began another discussion. At least that drifted Feire’s mind from thinking about Desmond and possibly calling him. ** ** ** It was already past eight. Desmond’s mind thought of a lot of things before his car halted in Kike’s compound. He was scared of the fact that she was still staying with her parents and he might meet her parents. He could not stop admiring the mighty building as he parked his car. He loved the structure of the house, they were very wealthy people, so little wonder that such a magnificent place could be theirs. “Thank you.” Kike opened her arms to hug him as he alighted from the car. WhatsApp, another stronghold that got them closer day by day. They would always chat with each other, discuss about business and sometimes, parents issues. Desmond never knew they could flow that easily because he knew from the first sight that she was very from a very rich home and she was very comfortable. She seemed innocent, though he could see traces of feelings trying to play her gradually and he was also finding it hard to tell her that he was in a relationship. “Follow me.” She told him as she held his hand. “What do you feel about the meeting we just had?” Desmond shrugged. “I feel we should let this guy supply our materials, his quotation is more realistic and budget friendly.” He replied, glancing at her from time to time till they entered the living room. As he entered, the brightness of the room welcomed him, as much as he would have loved to admire the white painted living room, his eyes caught her parents on seat and he became restless. He bowed to greet them. “This is my friend, Desmond. I invited him for dinner.” Kike told them. “Oh, welcome Desmond. Please have your seat.” The father offered. Kike packed her hair to the back. She was clad in a long yellow gown, different from the beautiful gown she wore to the meeting earlier. She was beautiful, smart and looked expensive even in her causal wear. “Don’t let him sit down, I’m taking him to the balcony upstairs before we eat.” “Okay. Welcome dear.” The mother greeted again. “Yes ma.” He bowed and followed Kike. He was so shy and couldn’t wait to exit the place. He hoped Kike would not delay him for too long. His mind constantly drifted back to Feire as he followed Kike, he didn’t know if he was already doing something wrong. At first, he felt he didn’t want to tell her about Kike so she wouldn’t misunderstand them, now, he felt the reason was just a shadow of what he really had in mind. Perhaps, keeping Kike for some other reason. “This house is so beautiful.” “I don’t even like this place again. I can’t wait to leave.” She replied him. It was as though he didn’t hear her. Shock vibrated over his face, “are you kidding me?” “Yes. I just took you away from dad and mum because their talk would get you bored. They might start asking you where you work, and most annoying part is if he asks you if you like his daughter.” She laughed. Desmond chuckled. “But how will I escape him when it is time to eat?” She offered him a seat at the balcony while she sat opposite him. “He is inevitable, dear.” She laughed. “But he is cool.” She quickly added. “It’s getting late already, Kike. I shouldn’t spend much time here.” “I actually took my decision late. I really want to tell you about something important and if I don’t tell you today, I might change my mind, that’s why I thought I should invite you for dinner.” She replied. “Really? What could that be that you couldn’t tell me over the phone or on chat?” She sighed and smiled. “It’s too heavy to drop over the phone.” “Okay, can we talk about it?” He asked. She stared at him for a moment, smiling while he kept wondering what the issue might be. “I am scared to talk. I know whatever brings you here must make me tell you and if I don’t talk about it today, I might just…” She stopped and looked away. “Kike, talk. “Desmond, can in confide in you? And if I tell you this, can you promise me you would help me out?” He smiled. “I would help you, Kike. Stop acting too formal with me, please.” She gave a dry smile. It was as though her ecstasy was drying off already. She opened her mouth to talk and closed it again. “I don’t know why it is hard to tell you, I have been acting normal since yesterday that I got to know about it and I don’t know why I am suddenly scared and shy to tell you.” Desmond laughed. He knew he was not that tough for her not to open up to him. He didn’t want to even think about anything weird, if he should open the flow of thoughts in his mind, he would begin to think maybe she likes him and would want to confess her love, or what else? “I…” The door opened as she wanted to talk to him. It was the house help. “Aunty, mummy said I should call you and your friend to come and eat before the food gets cold.” She nodded. “Des, let’s go and eat. We will talk after eating.” “You have raised my mind already, I suggest we talk now and eat later.” He replied. “But what if the food gets cold?” “We can warm it.” He shrugged. “What if…” She tried to think of another excuse but couldn’t get. “Let’s just go and eat, I am going to tell you. Let me try to make my lines again.” She told him. “On top this issue? Is it that difficult?” He stood up after her and they went to the dining.” ** ** ** FEIRE Hey guys! I guess I was not too harsh right? I was just concerned. I have been having these thoughts lurking around my mind that perhaps there is something he doesn’t want me to know because he has been hiding me from everyone and now Mosun came around. I have said it, her mouth never closes, she met him for one minute and wants to scatter a year investment. She’s a witch and Desmond knows how much I love him, why is he doing like too? Doesn’t he know how hard it is to conceal your relationship from people so close to you? And it appears like it doesn’t make sense as well, loving someone but kept from everyone because of it. So what should I do? I don’t know if I should call him or not. I can’t go to visit because his friends might be around, today is Friday, he might also be on his bed by now because of the hectic week he’s had. I really and truly can’t wait for the time we’d unveil this relationship for the world to know. Let me just send him a text message and go to bed too, if not, Mosun will use chitchat to shorten my life span. ** ** ** Desmond had a nice time on the dining. He was not sure he has ever been treated that way before. The table was full. There were fruits, different soups, beef, chicken and lot more. If he had his ways, he would eat more than he ate, but he must be modest enough before parents so they wouldn’t think he’s been starving. He knew it would be inevitable to be on the same table with her father and he wouldn’t ask questions about him and also try to talk to him. He enjoyed the talk about how the man started his hustle in his early thirties and what he has become. The discussion with a rich man would definitely cause a paradigm shift and it did for him. He asked him to go think about the offer to work in his company and he would be getting double of his present salary. Who would waste so much time trying to take that type of decision? He knew what to do. Their discussion also got to the trending issues in Nigeria and the upcoming elections before Kike tried to save him from her father’s discussion back to the balcony. “I enjoyed the foo., I love your dad and mum, and that was very welcoming.” Kike chuckled. “Forget, if I didn’t save you from them, you people will start talking about Obasanjo, Abacha and other politicians now. You know dad has many of them as his friends, he would try to proof points.” Thy laughed. “So would you go to the talk now so I can leave early enough?” “Er.. okay. Fristly, I am sorry for bringing you down here because of my talk, this is actually necessary, that’s why I called you. By the way, why did you call me the other time to ask me questions?” He chuckled. “Don’t let another thing interrupt what you want to tell me, Kike. I will tell you that one when we are done.” “Okay…” ..to be continued... www.temitopedaniel. |
