buchito1:
Hi guys! Guess who's in Canada!! grin

LANDING GIST!!!! BRACE YOURSELF tongue

So my trip was Lagos - Vancouver via Ethiopian Airline by 1:40pm wasn't a smooth one, but I thank God..

Arrived the airport very early, but the queue at the airport no be here! Airport was crowded, scattered, nothing was orderly at the Airport. After waiting for almost 1hour on the queue, one devilish immigration officer eventually told me to join a wrong line, and I lost my spot, and had to go back to the queue again! I almost comot my boxer swear for this guy! angry

He just kept apologising, that's what calmed me down sha.
Got to Ethiopian Airline/Naija Immigration checks, was sha asked for my Passport, Acceptance Letter, Arrive Can, Vaccination Card, Covid-19 TEST PCR (which I eventually did, cause I just didn't want any issue and problems.) they told a Chinese lady there to go get a Covid-19 Test and I'm sure she missed the flight, and that was all.

Going through checks to board my flight, begging and taxing everywhere at Naija Immigration, I no give anyone 10kobo, cause no be their papa gimme money I use apply for Visa or pay any of my expenses, my check-in bags were searched and unfortunately, those wicked Naija Immigration seized my body lotion, body and anti persperants deodorants was 3, like 5 hair cream, everything seized was worth almost 15K. (I eventually found out, I wasn't meant to check in those kinda stuffs) Guys please learn from me. Don't check in with those sorta stuffs, they should be included inside your boxes. Begged and begged this woman, she no gree, gave me the option of taking it back to my fam outside, family wey don begin dey go house, or trashing it there( which kine mumu trash? Na them go use am, BASTARDDDSSS) I eventually found out na money she dey find, but unfortunately, I didn't have cash with me. Gave out all my naira. Dem no born me well give am $100 notes cause na only wetin I carry be that.

Eventually I was the 2nd to the last person to board on the plane. Almost missed the flight. Was running like a FOOL! Immediately I boarded, wasn't up to 8mins, we took off . ENROUTE >>>>>>>ADDIS ABABA (5hours 20mins)

Food was terrible, met Nigerians that were leaving the country. Addis Ababa Airport is really beautiful, see difference between Naija Airport and Ethiopian Airport nau. Everything orderly and arranged.
Didn't stay at the Airport for up to 40mins. Got into my next flight to Toronto, longest journey of my life (16hours 20mins)!

Guys my ass became numb! embarassed Thank God it was a night flight, I just kept sleeping and watching movies on my phone. Couldn't watch their movies cause the earphone they gave me was trashy. Almost couldn't hear anything with it. With the whole noise from the aircraft. Though they had good collections of movies.

Fast forward >>>>> We landed Toronto Airport, the airport is a beauty! Jesus! Beauty at it's peak. Everything was too organised. I kept asking God who did this to Naija? Cause it's just not fair! Was going with the crowd, omo guys follow who know Road, and keep asking questions. Everybody in Canada is always happy to help in anyway they can.

I went straight to the Immigration Officers, I was fortunate, I didn't spend up to 15mins on the queue before it got filled up and crowded.

There was this stand where one Immigration Officer was loud and asking this Naija guy plenty of questions! In my mind I was like, God please don't let me go to this same guy! Pleaseeeeeee! Naso e reach my turn for Immigration, ghen ghen! Na that same man them post me go! Quickly told my siblings on WhatsApp to pray for me to pass this Immigration checks, they told me only my mama prayers should sort that out for me. And,

Guys guess what? This Man asked me for just my PASSPORT!!! That was all! And asked me how long I'd be studying and who my sponsor was, and where my school is. I didn't spend up to 45 seconds with him. And he printed my permit. Like I was like really? How? Covid-19 Test? Introduction Letter? Acceptance Letter? Proof of Fund? ArriveCan? Tuition Receipts? Vaccination Card? Everything wey i print out? Baba ask me something at least nah... grin Nothing! Only my Passport! Is God not wonderful? Loll.. He is for sure!

Proceeded to my next flight to Vancouver (Air Canada) The queue was terribly long. Was on queue for almost 50mins. After checks, I begin run again, normal level. I was like the second to the last person to board. Immediately, we left. Another 5hours flight! God I was tired of flying! This journey ain't for the weak. I angrily forced myself to sleep. And kept seeing the series on my phone.

Finally, we arrived Vancouver! But unfortunately, my bags weren't complete. My bags were missing, they tracked it, and saw its still at Toronto, it didn't come in with the flight. Air Canada fall my hands for that one. Was disappointed. My apartment to the Airport is almost an hour drive. They offered to deliver it to me anyway, make i still dey observe them.

Guys I stepped out of the Airport in Vancouver, and the COLD that hit me, blood of Jesus Christ! I never believed it! It was just 12° ohh!! And to think Vancouver has the best weather in Canada? Haaaaa!

Na why people full here and it's extremely expensive. Guys make person no lie give you, Canada is extremely COLD!!!!!!
Thank God for my cousin who came to pick me up at the Airport.

It's 5:55am as I type this, and we're on 4°c, so prepare yourself please, and come with your winter jacket socks, head warmer and hand gloves, yes even if our own for Naija na rubbish, carry am come like that, e dey useful! Thanks to my sister and a friend in Vancouver that forced me to buy it.

So in a nutshell, I thank God for a safe trip into Canada. When I sit and reminisce on it, omo! This Canada isn't for the weak! I thank God for this platform (Nairaland), y'all are a blessing, also met good people that have turned friends through Nairaland.! A bigger chunk of thanks goes to my FAMILY. Without them, I wouldn't be here. Mehn, y'all are the real MVP!

The whole journey wouldn't have started at the first place.
Those delayed, please don't relent, please, it's definitely gonna be worth it in the end, those waiting for an update on their app, please keep praying and keep being optimistic, God would definitely perfect your application.

Guys story don finish, make i go back to sleep. I had to do this, make una no think say I don run, which I can't. grin

It has ended in praise for me. I hope it does same to each and everyone here.

Thank you. cool

The payment will drop to the third party receiver but possibility of change in exchange rate will occur since the rate is only lock for 72hrs for that payment instructions.

Reference to my own experience " The initial reference ID generated will still be used even though you generate another payment instructions with different reference ID; the initial payment instructions will be the one to be used. But once your account is debited and the payment is being confirmed by your institution then you will know whether you still have a due balance or not.

Khazirat:
that means I don't need to generate any invoice again
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Temmyturpeh: 12:22pm On Jan 18, 2022
I don't think there's much you can do than to follow up with your bank to facilitate the payment on time. If it comes to worst; your invoice will only be treated with the current rate of exchange as at when the money is received/deposited to your school's financial institution. So, it will either be plus or minus issue since the rate is not stable, if it's plus just have it in mind that you will still have a token to balance your tuition fees.

Khazirat:
Pls, what do I do when the invoice generated for payment of tuition expire and the bank is yet to debit the account

elenewton1:
My timeline. 2nd time applicant. Did not use an agent for both applications.
First of all, all glory to God. I'm still in shock.

Level of study: PhD, fully funded.

First application submitted April 26th 2021
Rejected: August 18th 2021. I wept like a baby.
Reason for rejection:
1. That I do not have the sufficient funds to pay for tuition fee without working in Canada.
2. That I do not have sufficient funds to cater for myself and accompanying family member without working in Canada

Note: I did not indicate that I will be going with any family member. Also, my tuition is fully funded and with a monthly stipend which is even above the IRCC recommended $10000.

I was depressed, cried my eyes out. But had to forge on the next day.
I informed my PhD supervisor. He lifted my spirit and encouraged me not to give up. He also said he will provide a note to support my reapplication.

I deferred my admission from Sept 2021 to January 2022. A new letter of acceptance and updated funding letters were provided from the Uni and supervisor.

2nd application
Submitted: September 30th 2021.
Applied for GCMS note: 3rd November 2021.
Upfront medical: done for my first application in July 2021.
Eligibility review: started 4th November 2021, PPR came 30 mins after.
PPR: November 4th 2021.

Documents submitted
New letter of admission
Funding letter
Letter of support from my PhD supervisor assuring the visa officer that funds will be available for my tuition and living expenses.
My personal MBS of less than 100k naira.
Waec certificate, Undergraduate and MSc certificates as well as transcripts.
Letter of explanation (4 pages).
Statement of purpose (6 pages).
Awards for best graduating student for BSc and MSc.
CV showing my journal publications and conference publications. I also attached a link to my Google Scholar profile.
Passport showing my travel history. I did my MSc abroad.
IELTS result.
Proof of COVID vaccination.
For proof of home ties I explained the value of my degree to Nigeria. I'm an orphan so I do not have much family ties. So I emphasized more on the value of the course to Nigeria and job prospects.

My letter of explanation
In my 4-page letter of explanation, I thanked the visa officer for the opportunity for a reapplication. I then wrote out each of the previous refusal reason and explained myself.
For tuition, I explained to the VO that PhD tuition in my uni is always paid via scholarship and in fact you have to secure a supervisor who will agree to fund you for the entire 4 years before you even apply for admission. I then called the attention of the VO to my funding letter as well as letter of support from my supervisor.
For living expenses, I wrote that after deduction my tuition fee from the entire funding amount, what is left is even more than the $10000 per year which is recommended by IRCC.
I ended my letter of explanation by pleading with the VO to grant me this privilege of approval as my only chance of getting a PhD is through funding. And in truth I only had 75k naira in MBS account.

In all, I am so grateful to God for this approval. My application was not perfect. I only had 75k naira in my MBS. No home ties as an orphan.
The first refusal broke me to pieces. It is really not easy to experience a refusal. Indeed, I am so grateful to God. I also appreciate everyone here on this platform who I learnt from their timelines and invaluable information.

Congratulations to those recently approved. Ketima, Atite, Jay316, the ever present Lianna2020, Viviangos, Calcrete etc.
Also sending my best wishes to all those awaiting this good news: Teemenzo, Tinakem, Chris, Mummy4life, Rolly4, etc.
Also not forgetting those who are reapplying again: Emeenaka, Oreoluwamipo etc and those awaiting positive outcome from JR such as Rolly4.

Thank you so much everyone.
Alhamdulilah

Though I'm not a guru but little I know about t your questions I will share with you.

1. If your ppt(int.passport) is less than six month to expire you can go ahead for a renewal.

2. Optional; since your new ppt will have your previous passport number I don't see any reason of sending it through webform/email.

3. Your new passport has all your previous passport details. Hence, your new passport is all you need.

You can still wait more input from the gurus and those that have passed through the same scene.

Gracias!

Maya2pretty:
Good Morning Family

Trust we are all doing well

Please I want to ask an innocent but very confusing question (confusing to me)

Please if you have submitted your application already but your passport would expire before the duration of the proposed studies elapses and you want to renew your passport just like @Winnn did

1. When is it best to renew? When you get PPR?

2. After renewal, should you send the new data page to IRCC

3. Should you submit both the passport you used for your application/biometrics and the renewed passport for stamping?

Please I would appreciate your guidance so we don’t suffer to apply, waittttt, finally get PPR and mess up

@Toceen2022, it's 100% possible for a younger blood siblings to stand as a sponsor with genuine proof of relationship and source of income.

Gracias!

Toceen2022:

Boss, you mentioned Elder blood siblings...
Does that means a younger blood sibling can't sponsor his elder brother, if both are mature persons.
(for instance, a blood brother of 29 years sponsoring his 34 years old brother, possibly because he has more money)

Greetings! @ Makano, Thanks for the Enlightenment. I really appreciate for taking out of your time to share and do a justice to my concerns. May God bless you more, bro!

makano:
Hello Temmy

So far its the same DLI you applied with that gave you the LOA, It may not be necessary sending them your new LOA. If it were to be an LOA from another DLI, then it will be required of the applicant to inform IRCC even after the applicant has been approved, and this will result in the applicant applying for another study permit application... But make sure you hold it with you when traveling(together with your receipt of payment of school fees, that is if you have paid though), this is very important because you will be asked several times en-route Canada.

But if you feel like sending it, no crime in doing so...

Congrats and wish you the best in the great white north...

Peace

Pls, @ Prof Frankrobnn and other gurus in the ouz, kindly help to do justification to this concern as new LOA (May 2022 intake) is issued when the admission was deferred due to IRCC delay along the line decision was taken by IRCC with the initial LOA for fall intake 2021. Passport is being stamped and returned but the IRCC is yet to be aware of the new LOA. The question now is: is it still necessary to inform IRCC of the new LOA for May 2022 intake after the visa has been issued through Webform or Email?

Please all the gurus in the ouz! as I can't start mentioning names; kindly help to treat the above concern as urgent.
