I will comment for the benefit of those who might want to learn from let's say this hypothetical situation BTW, Ive been in the UK for 24 years, 16 of those in the tech industry and I run a tech company 1. it is not likely but also not impossible that you will get a £4000 after tax offer from Nigeria. I employ people and I am a voice in that industry in the UK 2. If you were to get even £2500 net(that is a salary of £40,000 gross) you would be better off than what you earn in Nigeria why? a. You discount the fact that your partner(future or present) would also come into play. Make that £2500 times 2 so family income increases to nearly two times your earlier estimation whilst the rent/mortgage is constant or marginally increases. Housing is the only monster responsible for 45% of expenses in the UK. That may not apply in Nigeria due to scarce opportunities. My mrs actually picks up 30% to 40% of our expenses and "im a big boy " lol b. UK favours people with Children so that would come into play c. If you are good, eventually you could be earning £600 to £700 times two per day- yeah £1400 per day - as a contractor. Yes a lot of people are holding two contracts at that rate. The question is how much more can your current income grow in Nigeria d. A UK passport likely awaits you. Being a nanny state, you will be looked after - cradle to grave e. UK is not that expensive. It is a lie. A 3 bedroom house in say Dagenham(£1400 per month) which is only 45 minutes from Central London on the tube, is nearly comparable to one in Lekki. Food is very cheap in the UK and yeah, your healthcare is insured f. You are not barred from ever going back to Nigeria just because you went to UK but the opportunity for UK is likely to dry up after the people who left because of Brexit have been replaced. UK is deliberately letting people in g. Your UK headroom is much higher so to say h. I will also argue that to get similar standard of living in Nigeria(good school for kids, security. healthcare, travels etc) you will spend much more for what is a commonwealth in the UK. Trust me. I have friends who used to do big boy to me then, biting their lips now, desperate to get out in their 40s i. If you lose your job in the UK, two weeks later you get another. In Nigeria I know many people that never recovered till death j. In nearly all cases, it is good to experience the west. It gives you that balanced understanding of life k. This highly under-estimated point -> your children start earning and investing from 16 to 18 in the UK. Make that 30 to 35 in Nigeria on average. This bit is what kills people in Nigeria. Most people's earnings start to go down in their 50s as they slow down So here you have it |

I will be giving ALL proceeds from working that day to the people. If you know anyone that fits the criteria and meets the conditions below, please inbox me with the verifiable details For the widows, small hand tools that may help them to make money like sewing machines, blender, etc and money for groceries will be provided For each of the small orphans, groceries and items of clothing for three months will be supplied The eligibility conditions are:- 1. They must be really in need 2. The needs must be verifiable 3. Must not be an acquaintance on mine 4. Could be from any country 5. Hi guys, let me add my considerable experience to your discussion, having done my undergrad and post-grad in the UK. I believe the UK is far easier to come to and study without money than the US. I personally prefer US to UK generally, having seen both but the UK system gives a lot of room for manouvres and is badly monitored so even though you are allowed to work anywhere legally for 20 hrs a week, you can work many more hours . For instance, if you decide to do minicab , you can do all the hours God sends without any detection because nobody can really tell how many hours you are doing. Besides, there are lots of Naijas in London that might have one way or another to help. You can also do personal tuition at £20 an hour among others. The US system is just too strigent and thats my opinion, But sha I like US but I cant go through any green card wahala or visa, so its just going on holiday visa free for me. I have been there guys and I have at least two friends who used I-20 to study in America successfully as well. So impossible is nothing. I wish you all prospective international students all the best |
re: begging, I didnt say she should keep begging mind you. All I was saying is she should play the fool for now. If you read my earlier post I said she should send him a text daily or every other day, not begging but definitely not giving up YET . The guy seems like a very good guy imo sha and to you break up brigade I hope y'all marry angels because as you see marriage is not like that o. if y'all keep this attitude, hhhmmmnnn sometimes you are even in the right about an argument but you will say sorry for the greater good and sometimes you lose it and its the other way round. I am married so I should know |
thanks jare @iykedare. the annoying part is that he might be giving up a very good guy for da playas in London just because she no fit beg. my dear beg now. He will beg you some other times. You have to have WISDOM because it is a principal thing. A word they say, |
Sometimes I wonder how a lot of us advice people. To some people, everytime there is a little problem, break-up,break-up is always the advice. Please people, your advice may be affecting someone's destiny so be careful before you say break up. If you have no real experience, better keep quiet than give bad advice o so you dont get same in future. If people break up every time there is a problem then we will all be divorced from fathers, mothers , sibblings etc @poster, just hang in there, the guy seems like a good guy. remember, he is hurt, thats why he's like that. Besides, I think there is a different matter upsetting him from the one you think(re: vacation) |
@poster, I really feel a lot of sympaty for you but I can nearly assure you this guy loves you as much as you love him. Take it from me. The thing is, something has hurt him along the line. PLEASE DONT JUMP INTO ANOTHER RELATIONSHIP. Pray God helps you to resolve the issue and then you too can go for counselling. you on how to relate better with him and him on how to deal with tough issues better. I can assure you from personal experience though that he loves you , he is just hurting as much as you are. Maybe he heard something. Just keep holding on. Call him or text like once a day. Give one month at least. The relationship is not over. The reason he ignored you is because he loves you so much and believes you hurt him so that is his way of handling it. Its wrong but you will both deal with that later. One thing about Europe is that it kills relationships. So be very very prayerful and be wise. God bless. |
Guys let me add my two cents to this issue. A lot of these problems are created by our naija sisters unfortunately, believe me. I am happily married to the best woman on earth so I am in no way biased but I will tell you what the problem is. First note that I am truly born again and I have been in a couple of big churches and mixed with single ladies a lot. The problem is that some Naija guys struggle a bit to find their feet because the whites prefer to give jobs to a black lady than a black man so a lot of black ladies are very successful (I think they are afraid of black men sha). Now the ladies tend to look down on the brothers just because they have not arrived, disregarding their potentials and good behaviours whilst they wake up to attend a 5am prayer meetings and night vigil for husbands(this is true story you know?), praying for God to give them husband but God is saying I already sent 3 to you but you looked down on them. when I was trying to get on the corporate ladder , a few ladies looked down on me but I knew I had potentials and it was very evident but they neglected that. Now , that God has blessed me to a level, its a different thing but I am married now. I know a lot of brothers who had the same experience. Besides, a lot of the behaviours of our ladies, with all due respect, are nothing to write home about. A lot of my friends (christians o) brought their wives from naija, but I dont think its that easy for women. I was engaged twice before I got married, one cheated on me because she met a guy that earned £300 at the post office while I was still a student, now I earn at least 3-4 times that by God's grace in a week. The other woke me up and said "are you going out with me for money?" when she never even had to spend a dime on me and I spent some of the little money I had on her,she said that because she had a much better job then. I had to quietly leave both sha. needless to say that she always looked for the tiniest meat in her pot to give me. lol. more like she was the queen and I was the driver Well make I no talk too much sha. ladies please look into this, my two cent sha |
they should stop celebrating and concentrate a beg |
Hi guys, I heard something said by a korean man that we Nigerians celebrate little success too much. That is what happened with the Tunisian goal. They were celebrating and celebrating one goal and the Tunisians passed and scored. Anyways they are not good enough to go to world cup so I think that's only fair sorry I am patriotic but real . |
Let me join all the other honourable Nairalanders in bidding farewell to the human right activist of our generation. Baba we will miss you sorely , The Lord granted you wisdom and ability to defend the hepless and the down-trodden and you used them greatly. May God bless your family and give them the fortitude to bear the loss. Amen |
@Kellorah, i'm not one of those people who thinks a younger person cannot advice them but marriage is a different animal dear. marriage has a cocktail of emotions, love, communication and mis-communications, understanding and misunderstanding and someone that is always in your life, you have to experience it to know it . It's far different from a mother and son/daughter relationship which by the way one is always the adult and the other the child . The reason why i said she should not rely on the advices of unmarried people is that there are things you just wont understand until you get married.Trust me. and don't think courtship is like marriage, it's not. while there might be some advices that very reasonable and clever single people can give, majority of them, most especially the ladies will let emotions and inexperience influence their advice. Look, some are saying call police, divorce bla bla bla. believe me these things should ever happen in very very rare and extreme cases. someone said her aunt is doing better without her husband, well how did she know? she might have more money but doing better might not be the right word. let us all be more patient we people of this age and do away with these divorce this, police that attitude. It only ever makes things worse. anyways God bless. |
