freeman67: Yes, It is an ongoing issaunce for 364 days. Which is to start counting from March 5th.
The major disadvantage to it is that it is not secured. Which makes it more risky than TB and some secured or asset backed one.
The second is the 10% WHT deduction. Which will make that 18.7088 later be about 16.8379 but then all other instruments like it are deducting too.
Lastly your Inability to access your funds till it matures except you completely liquidate at FMDQ or whatever it is listed, if listed. So you should be sure you will leave it till maturity if interested so astl not to street yourself.
That said, personally I would have invested in it if I had the funds but right now I don't. Majority of my funds are invested in other CP's. It's part of the ways I take my own risks.
CP is one of the underlying assets of MMF's. Infact majority of these high rates we see from some of these other Asset Managers are from the CP's, PN's and call deposits and co. Though it requires some due deligence too. The track record of the issuer, the arranggers and agents marking them, perusing their financials to see the possibility of your funds coming out, their ratings and so on are all important. I have personally invested twice in Daraju CP's and was paid at maturity without issues.
Like TB's, CP's are short term deposit too. Difference is that TB is issued by government and CP's are issued by companies. Government have a higher capability of paying back. However, the SEC, and the arrangers and agents will want the financial markets to be safe for investment by others and their brands too worth believing so they are the first to scrutinize the issuers ability before marketing it to customers and allowing the listing, if the issuer meets the requirements.
MMF rates are set daily meaning if your are enjoying 20% now, it's not guaranteed for the week. Any rate locked in on CP remains minus deduction of 10% WHT.
Also, most time the yield is always more that the rates you see. The yield there is about 23% and what you see and calculate is what you get no no deductions of management fees, handling charges by anybody.
If you were to do just the minimum of 5M for the 364 collecting your interest upfront will be about N839,589 after WHT and N1,032,000 after WHT if your decided to roll over with the interest. Divide these 2 sum above and see, either 365 for daily rates, 12 for monthly rates and 4 for quarterly rates and see what you then you can also compared with your MMF. So for me it's worth it.
For me also, I do them directly with the arrangers and agent when I do, so I don't incurr any extra cost other thank transfer charge and stamp duty from my end and WHT from their end at maturity. Very insightful |
Christianity Etc › Not Every Christian Believes What You Think by tenderjunkie(op): 4:25pm On Jul 26, 2025 |
I’ve struggled for a while with how to express this, but I’ll try.
In Nigeria, Christianity is everywhere. Churches line the streets, and nearly everyone identifies as a Christian, myself included. But I’ve come to realize that while many wear the name, our beliefs couldn’t be more different. I’d even dare to say that over 90% of the Christians around me are deeply rooted in prosperity theology — a version of Christianity that fixates on miracles, wealth, emotional experiences, and flashy events.
This kind of faith celebrates spiritual theatrics over personal transformation. It idolizes church programs like the Hallelujah Challenge, The Experience, Shiloh, and others. Many believe in things like “miracle money,” a false hope that has been used by certain preachers to manipulate and mislead. Sadly, this ideology has deeply shaped how people think, live, and relate with others, including their view of God.
But I don’t see God that way. I believe in His power and His ability to do the miraculous, but I also know He is a God of discipline, accountability, fatherhood, responsibility, and planning. He’s not just a God who answers, but a Father who trains, corrects, and builds character. And that understanding has fundamentally shaped my approach to life, relationships, and faith.
The result? On the surface, it might seem like I can easily connect with other Christians. But beneath that surface, we often don't share the same core beliefs. And that difference matters, deeply. It affects how we interpret Scripture, how we pray, how we handle suffering, money, purpose, and even how we choose life partners.
Because of this, I often find myself silent during spiritual conversations with friends. Not because I don’t have convictions, but because I know some discussions will only lead to unnecessary conflict. It’s hard watching people who genuinely believe they know God but are, in many ways, more familiar with hype than holiness.
So for me, the journey of faith feels a bit lonelier at times. It’s tough to find deep spiritual community because my convictions often set me apart. But I’ve come to embrace it. I’d rather walk in truth with a few than blend in with the crowd for the sake of comfort.
If you’ve ever felt the same tension, like you believe in Jesus, but not the cultural version of Him, I just want to say: you’re not alone. Stay grounded. Keep seeking. The narrow path is rarely crowded, but it’s always worth it. |

Afolavid: In addition to what the Original Poster said, if you can get the trifecta, you can easily and quickly progress upwards and choose a pathway in Networking or Security. It's a cheat code that even those without experience use to get their foot in the door and if you play your games right with real experience in the bag, you are looking at $100k in 3-5 years. This beats ANY BootCamp out there.
Comptia A+ (Core 1 & Core 2) > Network + > Security + = Trifecta! After this, you can diversify into whatever pathway you choose with a few specialized certs. Lastly, If you were a student at some point and can still access your student email, use it to access the Comptia Acad store and get the vouchers dirt cheap, which makes the investment a lot easier. All the best! Thank you so much for this |

njambert: Well I mentioned by AWS certs on my resume. I think you should write either CompTIA A+ or CCNA, it'll help you get interviews for IT support roles. I applied to roles mostly on Indeed. Skills necessary for it are Ticketing systems(eg ServiceNow), Active Directory, Windows, TCP/IP, DNS, Microsoft 365, SQL, etc. Just check IT support role skills(Sevice desk analyst/IT Support technician/Technical support specialist/Technical support representative/etc) on Indeed and see the most common skills. You do not necessarily need to know all these, but have a high level overview, and be able to create good experience stories out of these technologies for your interviews. But be reminded that the interview for such roles are generally more behavioral focused than skill focused. So spend more time on the latter than the former. Thanks a lot. I'll focus on Comptia A+ |

njambert: I was stuck in the loop looking for cloud/devops jobs directly as someone who was transitioning to IT though I had 3 AWS certs, projects and made some connections. It may be because I am in Alberta and tech is slower, and you would possibly have better chances by networking to get a job a bit faster in Ontario. However, once I decided to go even lower, by applying for any IT role(IT Support roles), I started getting interviews. I ended up with a well paid IT Support Analyst position, fully remote. So I would say you can start with entry level IT roles, and work your way up. The most difficult thing is getting your foot in the door. Once you are in, up skill yourself, and look to move higher. It will take time but it will be easier. Thanks 🙏 |

DanOkonkwo: We are in times where things happen fast and trends come to alter some long established cultures and way of life. the Gen Z spirit that almost what most people do today is to break previous ways of life and create ones that may look controversial.
In the picture below, you will find the guy well dressed and kneeling proposing to his fiancée whom is scantily dressed or suffice to say half naked. I came to wonder why some women believe that they should be dressed in ways that are sexually provocative and later they would cry foul. What stops this young woman from being decently dressed up. It's quite awful.
Would you allow your fiancée dress like this into the public as a guy? When you say "would you allow" Are you her God or personal saviour? The fact a woman chooses to be your fiancee doesn't give you the right to dictate to her. With that being said, you go for what you can tolerate. I for one won't be comfortable with my partner dressing like that. So before dating, know what you're getting into. |

How many Nigerians can really afford studying in Canada and UK, less than 10%....Even their people cant afford it. How much can a legit banker or government worker save after food, clothing and other expenses...its survival and years of sacrifice for most people... Just discourage against Asylum, thats all... This on-campus job you've been going on about, how many percentage of students do you think get it? Even for those that get it, how many hours do you think the jobs afford them? So because the law says students can work unlimited hours on campus means institutions will employ students on a full-time basis? The same law states students are allowed to work 20hrs off campus. Obviously not all students have jobs. And for those that have, majority don't get the complete hours. You claim you haven't seen any Nigerian in your school that applied for asylum. This is laughable. What metrics did you use to arrive at this conclusion? |

Zipup007: Please i need your contribution on my present situation here in Canada
I'm presently on study visa here in Canada, I started class January 8 and done with my first semester in April 2024, and things are very tough and hard that i couldn't be able to pay my second semester. Then i wrote school that i need a study leave due to circumstance I'm facing back home and here in Canada and i was giving a study leave for one semester.
After the study leave for a semester is completed i cant still afford to pay my school fees..
Now my question is that can i change my school from public college to a private? in other for me to retain my status and after I'm done with the private school then i can apply for another study permit inside Canada to continue my study in public college
I hope this wont have any effect if i want to apply for my study visa extension ?
Note: I just gotten a job since last year December
Please i need your advise on this I am very sorry for the unfortunate situation you are in. As an international student, you're only allowed to take a maximum of 150days of authorized leave of absence from your studies. You have currently exhausted that option. Switching to a private school is pointless! |

walenden: I understand what you're saying, but I don’t fully agree with the statement that "our future is already more secure than those who didn’t take risks because they were scared". As a businessman myself While some risks are worth taking, it's important to recognize that not all struggles lead to a better future. We shouldn’t romanticize hardship or struggle just because we took a big leap. Many people make sacrifices, and sometimes, despite their best efforts, things don’t turn out as planned. Supporting each other emotionally is crucial, no doubt, but we also need to be realistic. The stress my brother is facing in Canada isn’t just a passing phase—it reflects a system that doesn’t always favour immigrants, especially students. He left home hoping for something better, but the reality on the ground is far from easy. We need to keep pushing, but also critically evaluate how we can make things better for ourselves instead of waiting for things to improve on their own, The risk we took is already done; now we need strategy, support, and real opportunities to move forward, not just hope. student struggling in Canada are not fighting any demon; the issue at hand is about finances, not something Spiritual! gaeul: I had some money when I went to Canada but my 42,000 sch fees was paid with working here with so many extra savings. Internship alone was $10,000 for 2 months. My program was 2yrs. I did monthly payment plan. I didn’t spend a penny from my Nigeria account. I just want to encourage someone that your will and determination is enough. You don’t have to seek asylum, you can get that degree with your will. Just don’t be Lazy, that’s all. Ask questions and surround yourself with positive people. Just to add, my program was 20months and the fees was paid monthly for 20months Please don't deceive people! There's a big difference between when you came to Canada and now. There's a big shortage of survival jobs. People on 2yrs programs have gone the entire length without a single job. Why do you think the number of international students claiming asylum has increased significantly? Also, even if one happens to get a survival job on their first day of landing in Canada, it is impossible to pay an entire semester fees with it. Gone are the days of students working full-time. Now, with just 20hrs/week or even the expected 24hrs/week, it is impossible to save $1000 monthly, not when you're paying for rent and feeding. As I said earlier, what applied in the past doesn't work anymore. Before, students working 20hrs could still manage to pay a substantial part of their fees using black market and Form A. Years ago, I know persons who would send money to Nigeria via black market rate and then use form A to pay their fees from Nigeria. Imagine sending 3000$ home and paying 4500$ of your fees with it. But now, with the floating of the naira, that's a thing of the past. This post isn't to discourage anyone. If you're coming to Canada, come fully prepared! If at all you are banking on working to pay your fees, ensure your program has a summer break and you have fees for at least 2 semesters and rent for 8 months (even with this, it's still no guarantee). |

How much do I pay to IRCC when someone is out of status and what is the process please?
I went to the International office today and was told the letter of completion will be out in the second week of September, yet my study permit will expire August 30th, please I need help/ advice, what should I do
Am getting so worried now, please please help Since your school does not provide confirmation of program completion before the expiration of your study permit, you have 3 options that I am aware of. Option 1Apply for a study permit extension again before you run out of status. Why this may seem unusual, it will prevent you from being out of status as you will have an "implied status"With an implied status, you can then wait for your letter of completion and apply for your PGWP. Before you apply for your PGWP, you are not permitted to work. Immediately after you apply, you are then permitted to work even before the PGWP is granted. Option 2Apply for a visitor record before your study permit expires. When you get your letter of completion, you then apply for PGWP. You are not permitted to work until your PGWP is granted. Option 3Wait to run out of status and then apply to restore your status. With this, you have to apply for restoration of status, a new study permit and PGWP at the same time. You are not permitted to work until your PGWP is granted. Also, I have added a link below. Scroll to the 'post-graduation work' section and read through the FAQs https://www.conestogac.on.ca/international/immigration-information/work-eligibility |

Thank you all Are you certain your letter of completion won't be out immediately you graduate? Most institutions in Canada (colleges and universities) issue letter of completion within a week from the end of the program. What takes time is your transcript, but that is not mandatory when applying for PGWP. However, if your study permit expires before you get your letter of completion to enable you apply for PGWP, you'll have to go through another route. Since you'll be out of status, you'll have to pay IRCC money to restore your status. Once your status is restored, then you can apply for PGWP. I'll advise you get in touch with your school's international office to see how quickly you can get your letter of completion |

Olayinkayyyyy: Good morning everyone.
Pls, I need your input on my issue.
For context, my husband is currently studying for a one-year program that ends in December. His PGWP is one year, and to extend our stay, I am considering pursuing a postgraduate degree in my field. Now, my questions are:
1. We saw a digital marketing post-graduate diploma at a university( Considering that it is a postgraduate program but IN A UNIVERSITY,) is it advisable to go for this post-graduate diploma considering the no dependants policy, will it be diff because it’s a university?
2. I don’t understand how this works. When I start this postgraduate diploma or an MSc program, what will be my husband’s status (When my partner is starting his PGWP, and I am also pursuing a program)?
Would he be on SOWP or how would that work?
I’d appreciate input, advice and recommendations
Thank you all so much 1. A postgraduate diploma anywhere (university or college) will not qualify for an SOWP. 2.When you start your Msc, your husband can apply for SOWP. Although that will be pointless because he should be on his PGWP. As for recommendations, I'll suggest you do an MSC in Ontario as this will qualify you for the OINP Master's stream. This stream does not need you to have a job offer. You just need to graduate from an approved university in Ontario, meet the English requirements, and show proof of funds |
