In 2016, Access Bank partnered with the Lagos State Government to successfully host the maiden edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon. This partnership was aimed at providing strategic support in the area of sports whilst promoting healthy and active living through fitness and exercise. It was the first ever full Marathon in Nigeria since 1985.

The event which was approved by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN),endorsed by the International Association of Athletics (IAAF) and tagged “Running from the Old to the New”, drew athletes from across the globe whilst showing the emergence of a modern city and multifaceted developments the state has witnessed since the last marathon over 30 years ago.

The 2016 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon was ranked 2nd in Africa immediately after the Cape Town Marathon by the All-Athletics.com. The marathon also emerged 71 amongst over 1000 international marathons globally.

Abraham Kiptom of Kenya has emerged as the champion of the first Access Bank Lagos City Marathon which took place on the 6th of February, 2016 in 2 hours, 16 minutes, 21 seconds.

Abraham Kiptom of Kenya also won the 2nd edition which was held on the 10th of February, 2017.



Abraham Kiprotich won the 3rd edition of Lagos marathon race in 2018 with 2:13:04hrs to emerge the winner.

Ethiopian Sintayehu Legese emerged the winner of the 4th edition of Access Bank Lagos City Marathon in 2019.



David Barmasai Tumo of Kenya won the 5th edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon in 2020.

Emmanuel Naebei from Kenya is the winner of 6th edition of the 42-kilometre 2021 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

Ulfata Deresa of Ethiopia has emerged winner of the 2022 Lagos City Marathon , the 7th edition sponsored by Access Bank on Saturday 12th of February, 2022.

Édouard Osoque Mendy (born 1 March 1992) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Chelsea and the Senegal national team. He is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Although born in France, Mendy opted to represent Senegal - the country of birth of his mother - at international level.

His father is of Guinea-Bissau descent and Mendy did actually represent that country in a friendly match against Portugal in 2016. He declined an invitation to commit to playing for Guinea-Bissau at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and later made his debut for Senegal in 2018.

In September 2020, Mendy signed for Premier League side Chelsea for a fee reported of £22 million. In his first season, he immediately broke into the starting line-up, becoming the first African goalkeeper to play for the club's senior team, and kept sixteen clean sheets in the Premier League.

Mendy also equalled the record for the most clean sheets in a UEFA Champions League season with nine, and kept another clean sheet in the final to help Chelsea win their second title. He was also awarded both the UEFA Goalkeeper of the Year and the The Best FIFA Goalkeeper of 2021, becoming the first African goalkeeper in football's history to win the awards.

The general overseer of RCCG called the attention of the ministers to the trend of indecent dressing among the couple's in the redeemed Christian Church of God.

Pastor EA Adeboye ordered the ministers to always inspect the wedding dress and suit of the couple's few days before wedding, he then added that any minister who joins an indecently dressed couples together would be sanctioned. He pronounced this at the holy ghost service held in January 7th/8th of 2022.
He also added that worldly music is no longer acceptable in RCCG weddings.
