noblezone: Try that in Nigeria and face the wrath of the "opposition"!which opposition? Govt can do it if they want to, you want to tell me that if it is gej whole family ,kids and wife that were blown apart in abuja ,he will be laughing and he will go to kano tthe following day for campaign? That is when u will realize that gej can be ruthless. The point is gej needs favours for his re election from this sponsors, they have a lot of influence in nigeria. And each time they want to pressure for something ,they just order their boys to carry out a bomb attack. |
Best way to eliminate terrorist. The same should be applied to boko haram sponsors in nigeria |
Nigeria ruling class and upper class are interested in looting government treasury, the middle class is interested in making money and fame while the lower class is interested in survival.no one is interested in the qualities of who becomes the leader and that is why there will always be bad leadership in nigeria. I did a survey the last time I was home and I was shocked to notice that over 50% of those I interviewed don't even know the name of the local goverment which or where they reside in. If they don't know the name of tthe lg or where the lg offices are how will they know the name of the lg chairman? Talkless of the councillor in the area. And if they don't know these things how will they be able to ask and question the activities of that lg chairman . I keep telling ppl that gej and all other political post holders are the product of the system, and ppl shouldn't blame them because it is the system that produced them. And the system is controlled by the people. I always tell people that gani wasntt an angel, anyone can be a gani fawehimi.what he did is what anyone can do but who will do it?who is willing to take it upon himself and challenge the lg chairman in his place how he is spending the lg allocation?obj introduced the policy of publishing lg monthly allocations so thatt ppl can question how the money is been utilised but who wants to do that. Like I said 3 days ago nigeria is a complicated simple mess |
"Sometimes I forget I'm 22 years old," says business studies student Matteo Achilli. It is hardly surprising given that this September, as well as taking exams in law, technology and finance, he will also be taking his online recruitment company global. He will be tying up partnerships with Google and Microsoft, and servicing blue chip clients such as Vodafone, Bulgari, Generali and Ericsson. Not bad really, considering he came up with the idea for his company, Egomnia, just three years ago in his final year of high school. No angels "We received these rankings of universities that we were applying for," he says, "and I thought why not give companies a ranking for jobseekers depending on how suitable they are for that company." A simple idea but it was a long way to go for a schoolboy with little access to the kind of money he needed to set up the business. "Unfortunately in Italy there isn't an ecosystem with venture capital and incubators, so I started alone," he says. He approached professional coders to build an algorithm but they wanted 100,000 euros (£80,000; $135,000) - money he did not have, and the idea could have died then. Instead he asked some student coders and they agreed to build the algorithm for a tenth of the price, money his father helped him find. But what company would take a 19- year-old with an algorithm seriously? Bocconi University has one of the most prestigious business schools in Europe and it was in his first year here that Matteo first received support for Egomnia, when another student wrote about it and the idea was picked up by national websites. On its launch day Egomnia had 1,000 students on its site and 20 companies. Matteo points out that the careers service at Bocconi University is connected to about 100 companies. But the big turn in fortunes came when Italy's influential Panorama magazine put Matteo on the cover, dubbing him "Italian Zuckerberg" - a reference to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. The magazine cover came as Facebook was being listed on the New York Stock Exchange in one of the biggest flotations in history. Suddenly companies wanted to know more about the "Italian Zuckerberg" and what he could do for them, including Microsoft which has taken Matteo under its wing. Two years later, Egomnia says it has 250,000 members and 700 companies using its service. Anti-ageing If Matteo first considered his youth to be a stumbling block to the business, his opinion has now changed. "Now we are writing the history of the internet," he says. "The real experts are the young people, people who don't have white hair." "It's a very real innovation that a 22- year-old is doing this. At the beginning I thought my young age was not good, now I understand that my young age is my success." His success is now reaching beyond Italy. In just a few months he will open his first office outside his home country, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He will also have an English language and Portuguese version of the website, while companies will start paying for premium services on the site. A film about his life is in development and the makers have asked him to play himself, but he has refused. Maybe that will give him time to revise for his law, technology and finance exams. m.bbc.com/news/business-28211811 |
toludadon: I think what He meant is that the elites and the middle class are in a better position to assess the candidates like We are doing in this forum. while it's true that it's the people at the lowest end of social stratification that vote more but they are either influenced by inducement or sentiment.. you know it's an uphill task to buy someone in the middle class category when compared with those that their pricetag is not more than a paltry #1000 or worse still 5 cups of rice or a 5 yards ankara fabricI told redreact, the points and issues he raised will change the course and direction of this thread and discussion. |
Dayvhid:okey, ansa me fost, u dey drink? |
JideTheBlogger: When you na go free Mikel na? Na only him waka go World cup?don't mind them. He had a bad outing and I am sure he has learnt his lessons and seen where he needs to improve on . He will bounce back and the annoying part is all the criticisms been heaped on him will not stop him from making his millions .one thing is sure even if he is sold it will be for millions so why won't ppl face their own lives |
Dayvhid: ar u insalting me wel datz wat apin wen u try to relate with people subject to ratification, nd dat last guy. I SHAME FOR YOU BACKno mind dose pipul ,na winch dey warri dem. So waiting u wan do for the gal nau. |
This thread should make the front page |
I think it is right time seun sack the mod in charge of this politics section . Isn't it against nairaland policy that no one should insult another member?I have read just 2 pages and already I can count up to 15 different places where the word fool has been used ,if some people cannot discuss without throwing insults then they should be banned indefinitely. Ppl reading nigerian news on nairaland aren't only nigerians . SEUN GET UP ACTS TOGEtHER |
RedReact: Why not? You see, nobody knows it all, and that is why we all learn everyday. You are in a country where things work, and what we see our leaders do here and throw ourselves into frenzy is what will be regarded as junks; you and I know this. Although I don't really know what happened, since I am not in the country now, but a situation in which a sitting king, a respectable person, is being accused of corruption is totally a thing of disgrace. Why are our leaders so desperate to be in office? They are because they know that they can easily buy out people to get into power and once it is done, they forget about the essence of leadership.hello my bro, sorry for my long silence. The problem with nigeria is not bad leadership but bad follower ship,I know this will come as a surprise to many. You see in the us here , most of their citizens are deeply involve in the electioneering process, let me put it like this ,you can't win unless the people want u to. That is why debates are done, candidates mingle with ppl and you have to table your points and policies and how you intend to carry it out.but in nigeria that isn't the case,I can tell you that half of those that vote in nigeria are party members of parties not that it isn't so here but what about the other. People, nigeria is a nation of about 150million but still less than half of thatt number has voters card. For example look at the case of ekiti ,I am sure there will be over 5million ppl in that state but less than 1million voted, nigerian feel indifferent toward goverment and only complain when the wrong ppl get there, until nigerians take their destiny in their hands and realize that their vote is their power ,nigeria will continue to have bad leadership. Rigging starts from voters registration and I can bet with u that unless govt mandates it many ppl won't register, now how will they exercise their power to choose? |
RedReact: Texaco1,do u want us to treat this point?because tthis is another topic entirely . Very wide topic and It is an issue that a lot. |
Bayern munich and real madrid are already competing for his signature, he is most likely to sign for bayern, with kross out of bayern he will have regular playing time . |
makeitplain: Should I tell u something? Skimee is contesting under PDP for house of Rep not APC, it is part of what his dad Alaafin his putting on the table for the PDP. But if u ask him (Skimee) today, he will still tell u he his APC to the bone. Look, in politics, things do not always look like it seems. Many things u might read on paper today or tomorrow could have been completed several weeks prior to making it public. Do u not know that Adeseun had been an undercover PDP member for months before finally making public declaration 3 days ago?this guy is a real politician. You know how the game is played .kudos tto you I salute u. You have said it all,and that is what I have been telling people ,the mere fact that some made posters and doesn't mean he wants to contest |
Honestly mikel is a bundle of talent and a very experienced player but I don't think the premier league is where he should be,his style of play and talent would come out bettter in a league where players are allowed ttto express themselve and no rigid rules. |
One good thing about this thread is that everyone that has contributed knows a great deal about oyo state politics except the medical doctor of course |
emiye: well, it might be true, but, i also think one of the Alaafin's son intends to contest for house of rep under APC i suppose.bros in politics there are no permanent friends or enemies ,it is all about interest. Alafin is very powerful he controls the grassroot in oyo . I remember the last time ,olakojo told akala he could win oyo without alafin support, hundreds of millions was disbursed for oyo to secure their votes, alafin gave the final order on either thursday or wednesday that all votes should go to apc . He is powerful buy only in oyo town. With the way akala was leading in last guber elections it is now obvious that a gov can emerge without the alafin support. But look at alafin history from lam adesina time ,he has never supported an incumbent for second term. About his son contesting under apc,all na wash wash . Just wait and see . If alafin son is offered a ministerial post alafin will curse ajimobi on tv immidiately. |
emiye: There is a greater chance of a bloc vote from the influence of a political leader than a traditional ruler. While i agree that Alaafin might be an influence to the voting pattern in Oyo town, a bloc vote is what he cant deliver. I really dont know much about the current relationship of the Alaafin and the oyo state govrnor, but i am aware the son of the alaafin is one of the recetly appointed commissioners, and the Alaafin is a beneficiary from state govt contract from what the splash fm interview brouahaha revealed.bros ,alafin moves with the highest bidder and believe me ajimobi can't bid higher than gej |
makeitplain: Not true, Oyo is already in the pocket of Oyo PDP via alaafin. U need to upgrade and update ur source of information. That in bold is obsolete. Have u not observed that Ajimobi and Alaafin do not make reference to each other anymore in recent times. Do u think Jonathan just went to drink coffee with Alaafin when he visited him? Why do u think Tinubu abused SW Obas subsequently? Alaafin is among those he was referring to cos they are disappointed he dumped them for PDP.thanks for supporting my views ,I intentionally with held some points too. People dontt know that alafin has already ttold ajimobi that “odun merin merin ni mo ma paro iyawo” meaning I change my wife every four four years. Meaning tthat he supports a new candidate for governorship every four years. Gej and pdp will descend on oyo state in a big way and believe me all those politicians in labour ,accord and apc will support pdp . We are talking about mega cash here . Why will a politician support a party that is offering 20million for his support when pdp is offering 60mill or 80mill for the same support. Itt is all about cash and not about the masses |
makeitplain: Its going to be a 2 horse-race I believe. The contention is between PDP and ACCORD... APC will finish a distant 3rd... It will be an uphill task for a virtually empty party (APC) to garner votes on election day. This is my opinion formed based on my understanding of unfolding events so far.bros ,even ladoja na pdp man, if he is called to a meeting now with gej and muazu ,he will state his terms and condition just like he did for ajimobi the last time. Even labour party according to info I am getting won't give pdp any problem. One thing ppl are forgetting is that nigeria politics is about what I can get not what is good for the people, all these politicians will trade their followers if given the right price ,but gej needs every state he can win in order to win in 2015 |
stevolinkon40:noooooo ,make we no change places ooo. Let's use another thing to bet. Bookmark this thread. If accord wins ,which I know is impossible I will send u something of ur choice not more tthan 100$ ok .what will u give me if Pdp wins |
emiye: 9 months to election is a long time politically, a lot of factors can still come to play, dis ur analysis na ui own ooo. For the streets it doesn't work tthis way. |
smartchoice: He's a medical doctor.no wonder. I guess he is one of the 40% that will vote for ajimobi |
sainty2k3: Lol. U need to see what ur party members do to anyone that opposes GEJ. I think the thread has just been full of reasonable people. If I want PDP member to spoil it now I'll just say something about Gem not winning 2015. heeeeeee!!! Am already binding my head from yabbins o.I just wanted to cause a little argument in the thread to make the thread more lively |
emiye: Since, some folks are more interested in who wins or lose election than what the candidates will offer to the populace.hmmm, bros did u read this post very well before posting it?because if u give ajimobi this analysis he will give u a slap. U just knocked him off .ur points shows that he will lose.pls tell me how many of those so called middle class stand in the sun for hours to vote? U said accord is stronger than pdp in oyo state ,where did u get this info from?even the hausa man on the street of ibadan knows that pdp is stronger than accord. How many ppl are defecting to accord and how many to pdp? Bros don't follow air conditioned room politics discussion ,those that decide the fate of elections are in the sun ,drivers, food sellers, mechanics. Politicians don't play with these set of people ,if they like a candidate they can die for him or her.they don't have time for nairaland discussion ,or can u die for ajimobi? |
berem: I forsee Fayose having problems with Jonathan and PDP in future. He talks loosely and carelessly.there won't be any problem in pdp , because pdp isn't controlled by a single individual unlike ur own apc . |
smartchoice: Won binu ori ....they in fact love him to be bothered about advicing him.....one of the laws of power talks about the crab who opens the mouth.....bros we love and support him but remember it was that loud mouth of his and the attitude of I can talk anyhow that got him into problem the first time.he should mellow down ,get into office before boasting out aloud ,that he is in the best position to lead pdp against apc in the south west |
Gej influence will go a long way in determining who finally gets the nod for the ticket and age isn't on akala or ladoja advantage . The next gov os oyo state is looking at events closely.akala is already doing the ground work . |
