This is probably a good place to mention that I don't completely agree that the Bible is translated correctly. It is also apparent, to me, that Man tends to translate it the way he sees fit. No one religion believes the same as any other. Even among Christians. |
Ubenedictus: the bible seems to say there is an added layer to this, it talks of reconciling man and God and man to man... Making the beliver a heir of the Kingdom a child of GOD thru the spirit of adoption and a brother with Christ. There is no need for adoption. We are the literal spirit children of God. He is our father. Jesus is our brother. It is the Abrahamic covenant we must be adopted into. Gentiles are not a part of that covenant. Ubenedictus: we ar all fvcked doesn't cut it... I think it is irrational and irresponsible to accept been fvcked, knowlegde is within our grasp.... And i think you should try and iron out your thought. It was pretty hard for me to even establish a baseline on what you believe. You are right. I am still working some things out for myself. I guess my sarcasm may have gone a bit too far there. To be honest I was a somewhat frustrated. I am not in the habit of using the "F" word. Sorry. It would be difficult to tell you everything I believe in a few short paragraphs. |
Ubenedictus: among those who are intolerant will you consider religious teaching as a contributing factor to this intolerance?Yes Ubenedictus: interesting take.Yes Ubenedictus: let me paint a picture not too far from every day life, a good portion of the american population see nothing wrong with abortion, the goverment requires that the employer cover the abortions of their employee (health insurance). This is an idea many christian disagree with. Would you say the Christian should be tolerant in this situation (allow the govt implement this policy even though the christian disagrees)?No...I would fight them. It is happening as we speak. The Supreme Court is starting to side with religion on some fronts. It's only a matter of time and perseverance. Look what "Hobby Lobby" accomplished. http://m.motherjones.com/politics/2014/06/supreme-court-hobby-lobby-decision |

1. Does love exist? Of course it does. Do you love your mother? Do you love anyone? 2. Is there anything like 'The One'? I'm not so sure about this one. We all have the capacity to love. I'm more of the mind that any relationship, between any couple, can be successful if the two are willing to work at it. I don't believe any "good" relationship lasts without effort from both sides. 3. Can one really love someone enough to live with the person for ever/is love enough for marriage? No...love alone won't get you through. Like I said, one must work at it. No one has a "perfect" life. There will always be trials and tribulations. There will be times the two of you won't agree. Some give and take is required. There will be outside influences that will try to destroy you. There needs to be honor and trust. 4. Can love really die? I'm not sure it can "die". It can be destroyed though. There are many destructive traits which can lead to the demise of love. Such as; uncompromising attitudes, deceit, selfishness, greed, violence, and a multitude of others. As to your question, "How does love work?" Your question answers itself really. It takes great effort to make love "work". Love can't live and prosper on it's own. It takes hard work and sacrifice. |

First off let me say, I love the title of this thread. "Classic". Caught my attention immediately. With that said, many have asked what I believe. I'm not sure I can align with any particular Christian religious group at this time. I do believe many have "some" truth. I'm just not sure any have "all" the truth. I am a Christian though. I cannot deny that. Since I believe we continue to learn even after this life, I believe we will never know everything. Anyway, this guy has given me a platform in which to explain some of my beliefs. Here goes... darnley16: Matt 27:50-53Ask yourself what words the original texts the Bible was translated from where. Then go from there. Remember that English was not the original language. ******** The Hebrew Words in The Old Testament koe-desh meant sacred, holy, or dedicated kaw-dosh meant sacred or holy law-seed meant good or holy The Greek Word In The New Testament hag-ee-oes meant sacred, pure or blameless "Saint" originates from the Hebrew word meaning "holy" or "set apart." Here's an example, in Acts 9:13, Simon says, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints [set-apart people] at Jerusalem." "Saints" refers to all those who believe in Christ at Jerusalem, not to a "special" group of people within that group. darnley16: Isn't Jesus supposed to be theNope. Everyone born on this Earth will be resurrected. Even those who are evil, and those who are not Christians. Even Atheist. darnley16: Are we supposed to take thisYou obviously don't know much about ancient history, if you the think the concept of resurrection originated with the Bible. darnley16: Here's the first clue that thisDuh...Do you know anything about the history or translation of the Bible? darnley16: Dead saints!SMH...do I even need to say it? darnley16: Lets see what Eason's BibleThe abundance of ignorance in this statement is simply too numerous to address at this time. I ask again... Do you know anything about the history or translation of the Bible? darnley16: So I would say that this storyWell some versions of the Bible very well may have been translated at that time. darnley16: Do you really believe that ifWell "hallelujah, praise The Lord, and wake the dead! There is an intelligent question here at last! I like the guy in this link. I don't agree with all his commentary, but he shows some historical writings relevant to this write up. http://www.str.org/articles/is-there-any-evidence-for-jesus-outside-the-bible "Hostile Non-Biblical Pagan Witnesses There are a number of ancient classical accounts of Jesus from pagan Greek sources. These accounts are generally hostile to Christianity and try to explain away the miraculous nature of Jesus and the events that surrounded his life. Let’s look at these hostile accounts and see what they tell us about Jesus: Thallus (52AD) Thallus is perhaps the earliest secular writer to mention Jesus and he is so ancient that his writings don’t even exist anymore. But Julius Africanus, writing around 221AD does quote Thallus who had previously tried to explain away the darkness that occurred at the point of Jesus’ crucifixion: “On the whole world there pressed a most fearful darkness; and the rocks were rent by an earthquake, and many places in Judea and other districts were thrown down. This darkness Thallus, in the third book of his History, calls, as appears to me without reason, an eclipse of the sun.” (Julius Africanus, Chronography, 18:1) If only more of Thallus’ record could be found, we would see that every aspect of Jesus’ life could be verified with a non-biblical source. But there are some things we can conclude from this account: Jesus lived, he was crucified, and there was an earthquake and darkness at the point of his crucifixion." darnley16: Why did he have to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBNpksB6yns darnley16: Do you think Jesus was crying"Praise Jesus" Again! Good observation. He is not the same person. God is Heavenly Father. Jesus is His son, our Lord and Savior. They are not the same person. darnley16: All of this places the"Oh yeah of little faith..." Sorry couldn't resist that one. Hehe darnley16: Either those who wrote thisJust when I was starting to think you had half a brain. What a shame. Smh Once again, the origins of the Bible and it's subsequent translation are beyond some peoples intellect, I suppose. *sighs* darnley16: You've heard how if you...and he redeems himself! True dat bro. I agree with you here. The Bible has many interpretations, misinterpretations and translations. Don't even get me started on the "New" versions. It sure is a kick in the pants, but yeah... It seems to come down to faith. Go figure... God bless ya Hun darnley16: What if this story about Jesus"Yes" as far as it is interpreted correctly. darnley16: To paraphrase the Buddha,Hahahahaha...Nice! |
