I don't know anything about UK prisons, so you could be right.

As for US prisons, I know my stuff. I have work in 4 different settings; psychiatric, maximum security, trustee camp, and transfer facility. I know from whence I speak.

funnyx: You must be kidding, US prisons are far worse than any prison in western Europe, prisons where prisoners get sodomised, intimidated by gangs, routinely placed on solitary confinement and where prisoners are constantly used as rubbish men to clear the street may be some prisons where less dangerous criminals are accommodated may have some of those luxuries you mentioned but many US prisons don't.

Prisons in the UK are comfortable. Inmates get to play playstation and even earn some decent qualifications too. Life in prison in the UK isn't as bad as the ones in North and South America.

Prisons in the US are the same. Inmates make tax free purchases, get free gym membership, have better meals than public school children, receive free higher education, free medical, free dental, free cable TV and WiFi, and much more. All paid for by law abiding, tax paying citizens.
There are even laws protecting them from the weather, where law abiding citizen would have to work in all type of weather.

Sometimes having an irresponsible parent causes children to be more responsible. They are often wise beyond their years, because they had to grow up fast. Many have to become the parent, not only to the adult, but often to siblings.

There are even those who see the pain and misery caused by the actions of the irresponsible parent, and become determined to never be like them.

I do believe we are the product of our environment, to an extent. I also believe, though, that there comes a time, when we can no longer blame our actions on others. If we had a poor example, or no example, it is important to grow up, and take responsibility for our actions.

People can do and believe all kinds of true things without having the truth.

Most in Christianity believe the bible is the word of God,that Jesus died for the sin of man,that God loves the world,etc. All these things are true,but they do not necessarily give the truth to those who believe them.

Sir forgive my intrusion. Please. Your reputation precedes you. I stopped to see what all the fuss was about. I must say, I was highly impressed. Right up until you made this statement. I will speak frankly here, because we are all, surely, wearing our 'big boy' pants. You know very well Sir, that this statement is not completely accurate. You allowed these gentleman to ruffle your feathers, so to speak.

You have impressive skills I'll admit, but here you fall my hand Sir. Forgive me. I realize you don't know me, and may not care. There are many on NL who look up to you, and admire you.
