Rep042: Her words:"if you are still regarding me as your wife, then you wasting your time". Its obvious she wants a divorce because to her, she's still very young(28 years),and can easily move on. She doesn't give a damn. Good riddance to bad rubbish! Let her move on. You are better off without such a woman. You move on too, just choose more wisely this time This woman is an id.iot. She obviously is clueless about who will come out on top in a divorce in Nigeria. Are you in Nigeria? If not, you may be screwed, financially anyway. In the end you will be better off without her. Man up! Jarus is right. Don't take this from her. Kick her out! Jarus: Any woman that will try half of this with me and still remain in my house, has not been born. |

laykorn: Tisha, what is the assignment Ayamlaykorn Who is Tisha? Did you not see the challenge? EverestdeBliu: So far, we've talked about sound effects, and visual effects. Others have talked about structural effects. Another important part of creating a poem is deciding on its content, or what the poem is actually saying. In the our next class we'll look at how writing a poem can, in many ways, be similar to writing a story.
Challenge: 1) Try writing some more difficult acrostic poems.
2) The Minute Poem -also called Traditional Minute poem is rhyming verse form consisting of 12 lines of 60 syllables written in strict iambic meter. The poem is formatted into 3 stanzas of 8,4,4,4; 8,4,4,4; 8,4,4,4 syllables. The rhyme scheme is as follows: aabb, ccdd, eeff.
3) or choose a prompt and write a poem using any of the lessons you've learned so far from any teacher. Be sure to tag that teacher and any others you would like to review it. |

Other ways poems can make use of visual elements are by using fancy lettering, like calligraphy, or by including pictures on the page with the poem. Sometimes, the illustration enhances the meaning of the poem. One modern poet, Shel Silverstein, included illustrations with almost all of his poems. Sometimes, the poem itself could be vague or difficult to understand without looking at the picture that goes along with it. With some poems, however, the illustrations may just be ornamental. |

If you really like difficult puzzles, try writing an acrostic that has both a beginning and an ending vertical word! Or harder yet, try doing one with a beginning, middle, and ending vertical word. Wow! You really have to be a puzzle master as well as a poet for those complicated acrostics! 1 Like 1 Share |

A famous example of concrete poetry comes from Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." In the story, a mouse tells Alice his "long and sad tale," which in the book itself is written as a shape poem. The words in the poem are placed so that the poem looks to be in the shape of a mouses tail.
The Mouse's Tale by Lewis Carroll "Mine is a long and a sad tale!" said the Mouse, turning to Alice, and sighing. "It is a long tail, certainly," said Alice, looking down with wonder at the Mouse's tail; "but why do you call it sad?" And she kept on puzzling about it while the Mouse was speaking, so that her idea of the tale was something like this:— Pic below: 3 Likes 2 Shares

Images can be drawn by using figures of speech like metaphor, simile, personification, and others we talked about in the "Sounds of Poetry" lessons. These serve the function of beautifying a poem and making them more appealing and fun to read.
Everest and I will be taking a closer look at metaphor, simile, and personification in a later class. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Visual Effects in Poetry
Just as poets can use sound techniques like onomatopoeia to create auditory imagery, they can also enlist visual techniques to help create visual imagery, or the sense of how something looks. Most of the time, this is done with "descriptive language" that gives you a mental image of something. We have talked about some of these in other classes. Another clever way that poets can create visual imagery is with visual effects, such as altering the poem's physical shape or placement on the page, or adding illustrations. |

mufutau55: Thanks Brother.. I have since secured that record... I had one that was lost when someone borrowed it.. all efforts to have it replaced was not successful either in CD or the old record... Oh Yes, I still have the old vinyl record player because I was/still a hobbyist DJ, and I still have those vinyl too... was just looking at Rex Lawson record few minutes ago... still play them for old time sake. Thanks.
