WriterNig:
Where are those đŸ€Ą that swore that Russia cannot enter or attack a NATO country? Or is this not an attack?

Russian missiles and drones have been hitting NATO countries since 2022. And what does NATO do? They issue out statements telling Russia to be responsible lol

Even the Baltic Sea area have been experiencing severe GPS jamming by Russia, forcing Finland, Sweden and co to suspend some flights due to GPS interference. Ships on the Baltic Sea nearly collide into each other due to the jamming. But NATO does a really great job at hiding it from the public.

Those that know Russia very well, know that Russia doesn't rush into taking action. They play the long game, slow and steady. Russia will punish NATO for it's crimes for decades to come.

The United States is lucky it does not share a land border with Russia. It's so called "super power" status would have been put to test by Russia.

No, flying a surveillance drone over a nuclear power plant isn’t an attack, and there are no recorded open attacks from Russia on a NATO country in the past decade.

If Russia shared a land border with the U.S. and were to enter a conventional war with the U.S. that has easily q15 times their defence budget, they would crush the Russian army like toilet paper. Ukraine is already dealing with them just using older, surplus U.S. tech.

You certainly have found a lot of success with misleading people here, but at least try to keep your claims credible na.

Education / Re: Power Outage: UNIBEN Shuts Down Indefinitely After Students’ Protest by texazzpete(m): 3:36pm On Jul 08
Joythah:
you want to run diesel generators throughout the night? you are the one whose imagination needs refurbishment.

When I was in UNIBEN, the generators near Hall 4 ran through the night if needed, providing power to the hostels, classes and Staff quarters.

Joythah:

The school has always had 24 hrs electricity in until two months ago when the light bill increased by over 150%

This is untrue. The school did not have 24 hours electricity.

Joythah:

If the school fees and other charges are increased to reflect the new reality most students won't be able to afford it. The students are being unrealistic in their demands. The school management needs time to respond to the latest setback.

I do not advocate for a steep hike in fees. The school you defend are the ones being unrealistic. How in the world does it make sense to proceed with the academic year and still set exams while the students are forced to live in extremely insalubrious conditions with no power to even read at night?

“They need more time”? That’s rubbish. What have they come up with in the past few months? Where’s the public drive for goodwill donations and CSR contributions? Where are the public calls for intervention on the power situation? Where’s the stakeholder engagement?

Joythah:

By the way, where's the extreme outrage against Tinubu's govt that brought about this hardship

You must be off your rockers if you think I’m particularly enamored with this aimless administration. If you’re not outraged, I certainly am outraged. But I will not join you to insist the university leadership is blameless in this matter.

Joythah:

Why don't you explain to us how you are going to provide the 24hrs electricity if you were the VC putting the current realities of Nigeria in perspective.
I'm waiting for your dissertation

blowjohn:
Do the students have 24 hrs electricity in there papa houses?

They can't even think like students r supposed to.

You people are suffering from a critical lack of imagination. And it’s glaring to see.

Weeks to exam, the school was happily providing just one hour of power daily. Students were supposed to read in darkness.

A demand for 24/7 power may be unrealistic, but it is clearly the first step in a negotiation that the school is supposed to counter by at least providing power for the whole night, and part of daylight. This is how a University should be run.

If the VC cannot make the basics happen, he should be relieved of his job and someone else should be appointed there.

Simple and short.

Imagine hearing about students getting one hour of power and your first response is to sneer at demands of the students who should rightly be extremely outraged.

Please dear Daddy and Mommy, forgive me for bringing this here. am doing this because av run out of options and I don't have any other choice. My name is kęlÄŒy, I gave birth to my boy Ayomide 2 years ago and since then it has been a rollercoaster of one event to another. My fiance abandoned us and I move in back with my parents taking care of my son all alone without any assistance even though he was always falling very sick all the time. I notice that he always feels discomfort when his trying to breath so I looked for money to take my son to the hospital. He was diagnosed with congenital heart defect, a hole in his heart, as the cause of his breathing problems. I've cried my eyes out but if only crying can solve problem. I can't stand to see my child in pain.

I've gone almost everywhere I can possibly go but no hope except for hospital. Doctors say that he will need to undergo surgery at UCH for N4.5million and my family with the help of some very kind hearted people have been able to raise part of N3 million. We have sold off almost everything valuable to us but it's not yet enough, that why I am appealing to well meaning Nigerians, if you're touched to save my son's life, please find it in your kind heart to extend a hand of help to him. Nothing is too small in the sight of God. Am calling kind hearted people, please help save my boys life. Please am also calling upon any NGO that can accept my sons condition please. May God almighty bless you immensely and wipe away sorrow from your eye. Amen.

You veering off the issue in discuss here, it is not about doing a 9-5 or having more free time at home

a toxic woman is a toxic woman, if you the husband is weak, 'your body will tell you' as they say

If you have a good and respectful woman thank God for your life, that doesn't mean all men were lucky. mind you, these things sometimes don't show while you are courting, you most times found out while married already.

I am not advocating domestic violence but don't be a weak man! Never be!

The ones that enter domestic violence are the weak men.
Set your boundaries. If you feel those are crossed, go for divorce and move on.

And I’m not veering from the issue. Many of those who are labeled ‘toxic’ are those who are determined to be seen as equal partners in the marriage.

Are you married? even if you are thank God you married a good one

Some women are bullies, they can turn you to houseboy if you are weak and allow everything to slide

If you feel your wife is disrespectful to you, the law courts everywhere accept divorce petitions. Move on and marry someone else who you feel will treat you better.

How is someone who is gainfully employed being ‘treated as a houseboy’? Is it when you’re at work, doing your 9-5?

99% of the time when someone argues with this ‘houseboy’ line, the man is a layabout doing nothing while the woman is hardworking.

If you’re not the breadwinner in the house, you’re the partner with way more free time and you’re overseas where getting a maid or nanny is prohibitively expensive
the common sense thing is to pick up as much of the house chores as possible.

If your wife works 12 hour shifts as a Nurse or care worker and you’re not working at all, why will you not take care of some stuff at home if you’re not a clown?

The others might not but I wil respond.

These kind of horrible issues will happen, with the innocent children suffering, unless a proper discussion is allowed to be held and both sides of the story is examined as to how things got to that stage.

A man that has three children with his wife, who has no criminal record, has been married for a while, suddenly turns evil bashing her head over and over again with a skateboard and we are supposed to just accept he is epitome of evil and move on.

You are clearly not intelligent at all. The facts in the OP state that the man has been investigated multiple times in the past for domestic violence, the woman has been found in the past with signs of physical abuse including a bloodied lip, and the marriage has long been strained over financial issues.

How you’ve parlayed all that into “the man acted out of character” is quite strange.

Man has no stable job and is struggling with store work

Wife has a stable job with decent income.

Husband gets jealous and constantly accuses his more successful wife of infidelity and disrespect

Husband pivots to verbal and physical abuse to stamp his dominance and then starts looking for girlfriends himself.

Wife gets fed up and couple gets estranged. Angry and insecure husband then turns to violence.

An oft repeated tale. Sad to see.

Oh, I forgot. Nairaland and Nigerian men jump up and blame the woman.

Oga you, yes you that is planning to japa with your wife and kids, understand that you will need to format your brain settings to default mode before you can live in Yankee with your family, and also check how healthy you and your spouse relate with each other before making any move. Cos the demographics over there, which is completely opposite to what you find here, will 100% influence the character of your spouse when they finally settle in. Eg
1. If you have a lazy spouse that you are managing in naija, when you japa, your body go tell you.
2. If your spouse has a tendency to cheat, japa will be their play ground, so find something hold body.
3. If your spouse is bossy and controlling, expect worse when you japa.
4. If you have a selfish partner, God is your strength.
5. If your partner has a temper, your relationship must break or worse when you japa.

Something must be wrong with your head sha.

You see a situation where the man is most certainly at fault and you’re giving silly ‘advice’ to men about possible shortcomings of their wives.

The OP and some of you people in this thread are completely nuts.

You see parents of young, overactive kids that are in church and have no nanny to take care of the kids. So the only way they themselves can focus in God’s house is to provide some form of distraction for the kids so they don’t disturb other worshippers.

These are usually very small kids. Toddlers, even. A 2 year old kid isn’t going to learn anything momentous, and they have many more years ahead for you to do moral and religious instruction.

OP needs to mind their business and focus on the church they went to do.
