Genuinely, utterly heartbreaking and soul crushing to read this. She had a scare years ago and beat it. I thought that was the end of it.

She was a lovely human being and a true friend. I haven’t been in touch in ages so I wasn’t aware she was ill. So ashamed of myself for this.

She was a committed Christian and I have no doubts that she’s safe in heaven.

There is a voter identification portal where you can go and check your registration portal. Most of the people who have gone to check for their PVC have already checked their names there. You will see your name, VIN and polling unit...only to show up at the LGA and be told your PVC has not been found.

At the escalation point, the INEC agent checks your name, confirms you're duly registered and sends a request for your PVC to be re-issued and sent down. And then you come back to check in a week or two and STILL hear that your PVC cannot be found!

I personally know people who can show you their records online on INEC's portal, and yet at the LGA they're told that their PVCs cannot be found. Multiple trips have been made, ending in failure.

INEC's incompetence is a serious challenge.

Last week I had an interview for a data analyst teaching job, after series of interview process which includes.
Analyzing data with Excel and BI
Extracting and cleaning data with Python &SQL
Modeling, analyzing and visualization with R.
Though my Python prowess wasn't that good but I was told that what they needed is a data analyst who can handle R very well and I really impressed in that aspect.

I showed my data analysis projects on the above software excluding Python. Then we went to oral interview which led to the salary part. I was asked to name my price.
I told them to give me a breakdown on how many days I will be coming to work because I learnt it will be part time teaching job, the interviewer agreed to mail me my schedule.

I was hoping it will be weekend (like Friday evening, Saturday & Sunday) only for me to realized it will be Mon-Thur (that's not part time, I told the manager or so).
The worst part is that they are willing to pay me 10k/week for the job and I will be paid each week I come to work which means it's only the weeks the students avail themselves that I will teach and be paid.

Those tech pay such ridiculous amount or am just unlucky?
What am I expected to do with 10k weekly?
Transport?
Data?
Food?
Electricity?
What exactly?

I went to UI recently and I saw university students wearing beach slides to classroom!!! The girls too were not left out of the slippers game. Can you imagine hundreds of dirty feet and how unsightly that look. My sister who was a former Queenite cannot believe her eyes that students can wear slippers around faculty social sciences which was famed for the top-notch fashion game in her time.

Ironically, there was probably someone looking at your sister’s generation and lamenting the decay of morals that had pushed students into doing ‘fashion parade’ in lecture theaters.

Student must dress decently. If it means they have to inspect them at the main gate. Their hair must be properly cut. Universities are places of learning first and foremost. Infact student should not be allowed to bring cars on campus. The most allowed should be bicycles.
The decay in public universities is just too much.
When we went to university 33 years ago it was not this bad. Infact most parents now fear sending their wards to public universities, if the could afford it they will go private.

You speak about morality yet you make a post filled with lies. The decay in our public universities comes from poor funding, terrible infrastructure, poor lecturers and terrible lecture theaters

While there’s some positives to be found from curbing some excesses, it’s beyond daft to insist students cannot wear unbuttoned jackets or that rolling of sleeves is a bad thing.
