"Because his not innocent his trying to use this time divert attention to the extend of using religion to attract sympathy. Let me remind him that it will be deadly for him if he is in the Islamic religion, his shameless acts is a stone to death sentence, so he should not dare to try that nonsense in the Islamic faith.

Politics / Christian Youth Stakeholders Demand Change: Call For Atiku To Run In 2027 by TGNEWS(m): 9:02am On Sep 06
By Tom Garba, Yola

A communiqué issued at the end of a 2-day meeting of Christian youth stakeholders has called for a new era of leadership in Nigeria. The meeting, attended by 150 representatives from 19 Northern states, condemned the current state of insecurity, economic hardship, and insensitive policies of the present administration.

The stakeholders decried the lack of concerted efforts to address kidnapping, banditry, and farmer-herder crises, and the high cost of living, which has made it difficult for millions of Nigerians to afford basic necessities. They also criticized the recent increase in fuel price, which will exacerbate inflation and poverty.

The meeting called for a tested and trusted personality, devoid of bigotry, to contest the 2027 presidential election. Specifically, they urged Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to run for president</a>, citing his pan-Nigerian credentials and detribalized nature.

The stakeholders pledged to mobilize Christian youth across the Northern region and Nigeria to support Atiku's candidacy.

Furthermore, the meeting called on Peter Gregory Obi to join forces with Atiku and other relevant politicians to salvage the country. The communiqué emphasized the need for a new Nigeria, where no tribe, religion, ethnicity, or region takes precedence over shared humanity and nationhood.

The meeting emphasized the urgent need for a paradigm shift in Nigeria's leadership, citing the country's precarious situation and the apparent lack of focus and cluelessness of the present APC-led government.

The stakeholders lamented the devastating impact of insecurity, economic hardship, and poor governance on the lives of Nigerians, particularly the youth. They expressed frustration with the government's inability to address these challenges, despite the huge resources deployed to tackle them.

The communiqué highlighted the need for a leader who can unite the country, address the pressing issues, and restore hope to the people. The stakeholders believed that Atiku Abubakar, with his wealth of experience and pan-Nigerian credentials, is the right person to lead the country out of its current quagmire.
2027 elections present an opportunity for Nigeria to get it right and chart a new course.

The meeting also called on other politicians to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal of salvaging the country. The stakeholders emphasized that the 2027 elections present an opportunity for Nigeria to get it right and chart a new course.

Nairaland / General / Nigeria's Democracy Under Threat: Dr. Kumo Speaks Out Against Arabi's Ouster by TGNEWS(m): 7:56am On Aug 30
The sacking of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria's (NAHCON) chairman, Mallam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, OON, fwc, has been seen as a violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr. Mohammed Aliyu Kumo has kicked against the removal of Arabi by the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was alleged to have misused N90 billion naira allocated to the commission for the 2024 Hajj operations.

According to Dr. Kumo, the appointment of Arabi followed due process because the office is statutory in nature, and his removal must have followed the same pattern to have him properly nailed. He stated that the appointment is saddled with a five-year tenure, and before an officer of his type can be removed, there must be a committee that will write a report indicting him for falling short of the country's constitutional provisions.

Dr. Kumo said the 2024 Hajj he witnessed was one of the best, and the operations were one of the smoothest. He believes the government should have commended Arabi for bringing up the image of Nigeria in a good light. He called on the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give Arabi a fair hearing.

"Please, follow due process and be fair to Jalal by giving him a fair hearing. This is a man who retired clean and sound, having served four former presidents as a permanent secretary. I'm sure he wouldn't have done anything deliberate to tarnish the good name he has built over the years."

Dr. Kumo asked if the government had received any report from Arabi to uncover the infractions in the N90 billion allocated to the commission for the successful operation of the 2024 Hajj.

He called on the present government to give Arabi a fair hearing by letting him submit his own report and then forming a panel committee of investigation to write an independent report that would indict him of any criminal offenses.

Dr. Kumo continued to say that he suspects foul play and is coming to terms with the many rumors that there are cabals in the presidency who may be operating without the knowledge of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

"My little understanding of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is that he will want to work based on the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria and be fair to all people, irrespective of their religion, tribe, or political background."

Dr. Kumo reiterated his call to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be fair to all Nigerians, especially at this time that Arabi is bearing the brunts of wrong accusations coming from all corners under whichever guise or pressure, due to primordial sentiments vested in the hearts of many political associates.

Politics / 2027: Journey To Adamawa Govt House Begins, As Senators, Bankers Show Interest by TGNEWS(m): 5:45am On Aug 11

... with Many others to slug it out on who becomes the next Governor

By Tom Garba

It's barely two years and six months to the general elections of 2027, and the political atmosphere in Adamawa State regarding who wants to take over the Governorship seat from Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has begun to sing loud to hearing of everyone.

This medium can tentatively report that there are already Bankers, Senators, and others who are renowned politicians in the State scheming out their ways to ensure that the ticket of their party is given to them to contest the number most enviable seat in the Dougeri seat of power of the state.

In the ever-evolving embroidery of Nigerian politics, Adamawa State always stands at the edge of a significant juncture as it is already preparing for the 2027 governorship race. The political landscape in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) alone is populated by four formidable contenders so far, each with a distinct set of strengths that will shape the state's trajectory in the coming years. As the political theatre unfolds, the question on everyone's mind resonates: "Who will the cap fit in 2027?"

CHIEF DR MAURICE VONOBOLKI

One of the pronounced contenders is Chief Dr. Maurice Vonobolki, a seasoned international financial expert who retired as an Assistant General Manager and a Senior Management Committee member in the Nigerian banking industry through his verified social media accounts. He is a contender in Adamawa State's 2027 governorship election under the umbrella of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The retired professional banker; he currently plays a pivotal role in the World Bank North-East Multisectoral Crisis Recovery Project. His qualifications, including a BSc, MBA in Development Finance, and a PhD in Business Leadership, underscore a wealth of knowledge and experience that positions him as a formidable candidate.

One of the key advantages Maurice Vonobolki brings to the table is his extensive experience as a chartered accountant. This professional background equips him with financial acumen, a crucial aspect in steering the economic trajectory of Adamawa State. His meritorious service in the banking sector further demonstrates a track record of success and commitment to excellence.

However, beyond the realm of professional accomplishments, there is a crucial dimension to Maurice Vonobolki's candidacy that deserves attention—the call for religious and tribal diversity to advocate for a fair and just representation in leadership. Maurice Vonobolki could offer a fresh perspective and foster inclusivity, ensuring that the aspirations of all Adamawa residents are taken into account.

Many who are advocating for Maurice Vonobolki's candidacy believe he is a sound politician who can unite a diverse leadership that reflects the demographics of the state and ensures that decisions are made with a comprehensive understanding of the needs and perspectives of all communities.

An opinion writer, Dr. Francis David once authored an article in which he painted Maurice as the best candidate as Adamawa State navigates the path to the 2027 election, the narrative of religious diversity should not be overlooked and Maurice Vonobolki's candidacy offers an opportunity to bridge religious divides and create an environment of unity and understanding.

Maurice has no doubt assumed a distinct role as a seasoned banker venturing into the political arena. Having contested for the governorship in 2011 and the Senate in 2019, he brings a unique perspective shaped by his financial acumen. His determination to secure electoral victories is evident in his multiple attempts.

Maurice is possibly the most educated among all the visible and known hopeful Governors. He holds an award-winning BSc. MSc, MBA, and PhD. He became a chartered accountant 26 years ago. He is an emerald scholar in many International universities. An author of many books, If you put Maurice as the front burner candidate, he may spring surprises.

MR CALEB ANDREW MYENBANGYARA

Call him a 21st-century successful Banker who attained the managerial level of the Zenith Bank, heading the Adamawa State main Branch in Yola. He has officially intimated to this medium that his head is anointed to wear the cap for the Dougeri seat.

Though Caleb is barely known in the political scene and the rigamarole game of Adamawa State politics, but is well known to have been a good account manager of Adamawa State accounts of two successful administrations. His confidence in getting the PDP ticket is the morale booster his loyalists are using to sway support and woo supporters at the latent stage of the game of politics in Adamawa State.

Caleb, who is from Adamawa Southern Senatorial District and the Bwate kindred, once said his train of leading Adamawa State has since left the station and is headed in the right course. He is now calling as many as possible to join the moving train.

His name is now ringing a bell as the current Manager of the Adamawa Main Branch of the Zenith Bank. His consultation team is working on top gear preaching the message of his intention to be Adamawa's next Governor. But the question has been can he navigate to political crooked ways? This is a Man that is known to hardly see people and the formation of the PDP structures is not even aware. Caleb is not a Stakeholder in the PDP arithmetics because he is still a banking staff of the Zenith Bank. It's indeed a journey of political war he embarked on with dire consequences of either he wins, or he loses.

SENATOR IYA ABBAS

Senator Aminu Iya Abbas of the PDP is another echelon contender; though this medium is not credibly informed of his true state of contesting the Coming Governorship seat, his closest associates are preaching his ambition on many of his social media handles.

Is the current Senator Representing Adamawa Central Zone and the former House of Assembly Speaker of the State Haven representing the Uba/Gaya State constituency? Abbas is seen as a dynamic blend encompassing leadership with good acumen of working relationships with the high and lowly. He holds a considerate level of education that can lead well to the number one seat of Adamawa State and has traversed the corridors of power with an impressive track record. From meritorious service at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to multiple terms in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, including a stint as Speaker, Abbas has accrued a wealth of experience.

Abbas is believed to have a profound connection to the grassroots, representing the Adamawa Central Senatorial zone; he has cultivated an intimate understanding of the challenges faced by the people at the local level. This grassroots connection, coupled with his commitment to inclusive governance, positions Abbas as a candidate capable of bridging the gap between the state's leadership and its diverse populace. His background and experience suggest a leader capable of fostering unity and understanding across various groups. Moreover, Abbas's commitment to inclusivity extends beyond ethnicity to address religious intolerance—an issue that has, at times, strained the state's social fabric.

A political analyst, Dr KJ Paul once said that it's in Abbas that the electorate may find a candidate capable of navigating the delicate balance between experience and innovation, tradition and progress. The cap, it seems, may indeed find its perfect fit in Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, heralding a new era of leadership and possibility for Adamawa State. As the electorate navigates the complexities of the political landscape, the contours of the state's future may well be shaped by the vision, experience, and grassroots connection that Abbas brings to the forefront.

SENATOR ISHAKU ABBO (SIA)

They call him a Lion, a dogged fighter, and a strong voice for the people of Adamawa State. Senator Ishaku Abbo, AKA Cliff, is one of the successful young Nigerian politicians who have gone far in politics because of his hard work, political connections, and affiliation; his vast political experience, knowledge, and arithmetics have made him win Adamawa Northern Senatorial District Two times.

SIA is always described as a dangerous striker who is vocal, challenging, defends, and can go get the gold no matter how much distance is covered. His records while a senator of the Northern Zone still speak volumes for him, and people are hungry for his leadership role.

SIA, who is now a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is not, however, clear, and this medium cannot be the party that is bargaining to contest the number one seat. His present membership status in APC is ceremonial according to one of his loyalists, Drambi Amos, that the Party has not been fair to him. But feelers from other corners are saying the young Adamawa politician may consider dumping the APC and pitching his tent with the Labor Party (LP) to show his political might for the governorship seat.

SIA is one of the promising Adamawa Sons that can bring innovation, development, and progress to the table of Adamawa State leadership; his world connection and the knowledge of giving good leadership strides gave him a vintage position.

HON AUWAL D TUKUR

At the forefront of this political drama is Auwal D. Tukur, the incumbent Secretary to the Government (SSG), whose candidacy relies on the convincing political legacy of his father. Born into a family with a father who served as both Governor of the defunct Gongola state and National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Tukur carries the weight of his familial history.

The advantages are evident—an established political structure and the potential to harness his father's network. However, in Adamawa, the path is not without thorns always .

Dr KJ Paul in one of his views said Tukur finds himself entangled in a web of controversy regarding his birthplace, with conflicting claims of the Jada and Yola Local Governments. This discord has led to a rejection by the people of Jada and skepticism from those in Yola.

The historical context of his previous claim in 1998 and his current affiliation may pose a significant disadvantage in the central zone, which has never produced a governor. In 1998, Auwal Tukur faced scrutiny over his birthplace when he claimed the central zone. This historical episode, combined with his current alignment with the zone, may not sit well with the central zone voters in the upcoming election. The people of the central zone may be wary of Tukur's sudden association, questioning the authenticity of his connection and commitment to their interests. The central zone, having never had a governor, is likely to scrutinize Tukur's intentions closely. The historical grievances and the need for authentic representation make the central zone a critical battleground in the 2027 election.

Tukur's potential claim to the central zone, given his historical controversy, may not be easily overlooked by voters who seek a candidate genuinely dedicated to the zone's progress and development. Additionally, Tukur's governance resume bears the mark of a single term served as a Member of the House of Representatives two decades ago, leaving questions about his preparedness for the challenges of leading a state.

ADAMU ATIKU ABUBAKAR

In a political landscape marked by dynasties, Adamu Atiku Abubakar emerges as one of the contenders, wielding the Atiku surname, synonymous with Nigerian politics. Currently serving as the Commissioner of Works in the State, Adamu brings a youthful exuberance to the table. As the son of former Vice President Waziri Atiku Abubakar, he inherits a legacy loaded with both advantages and challenges. While the Atiku name carries considerable weight, Adamu faces the uphill task of stepping out from his father's shadow. His relative lack of experience, coupled with a disconnect from grassroots politics, poses challenges in building a broad-based support structure. The question of whether Adamu can carve out his political identity while navigating the difficulties of familial legacies remains unanswered.

SENATOR REV BINOS YARO
Is currently the serving senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial Districts and his passion for free medical outreaches over the last five years of his two terms slot are giving him a win- win support from the electorates. His bills for the establishment of University of Education in Numan, his motions for killings attacks of his constituents by unknown gun men are all added advantage to him.

But his inaccessible nature, not picking and returning calls may however turn against him when votes are to be canvased according to one Barr Shagnah Pwamaddi. Else he is a good to go materials for the exalted seat in Adamawa State.

PHARM WAFARI THEMAN

Gentle, but extremely intelligent with unassuming tendencies to break the Camel's back. Pharm Wafari Theman is an erudite politician who was a former State Lawmaker represented Hong constituency and later became the APC Party secretary, contested the Governorship of the State at primaries level.

He is currently the national party leader of the social Democratic Party, SDP, as national Vice President is believe to have being tip toeing to fight for the gubernatorial seat. An ambition he conceal but feelers around are busy peddling the rumors of his nursing dream of becoming the next governor is possible.

BARR WAKILI BOYA
Boya is a renowned grassroots politician, a mobilizer that has traditional titles of his passion for leadership representing the Federal Constituency of Song and Fufore.

He has endeared himself long ago When he was the Fufore Local Government area Chairman and contested the Adamawa Central zone seat in 2019. He worked well for the masses, and currently is getting the attention of his people for the bills he sponsored that will establish school of nursing in Song and Federal college of Education Technical in Fufore.

He has not declared any attention to run for the seat, but people already are dropping his name for the noble course.

Others like Dr Amos Edgar, Prof Liman Tukur their names are in the public domains of contending for the Dougirei seat but no element of interest is shown from them I can see.

It's the latent stage of Adamawa State politics building to 2027 Governorship elections. There's certainly going to be many people with interest from various popular and unpopular political parties to join in the drama of who becomes the next Governor of Adamawa State.

Follow me for constant updates on this developmental political stories in and outside Adamawa State.

Politics / Boya:the History Of A Man With Growing Political Feats by TGNEWS(m): 10:01pm On Aug 10
By Tom Garba

The future of Nigeria is no longer bleak, the generation of future credible leaders gets bigger in the country as against the backdrop of what is happening in the leadership creeds of the country in recent times. Many unpatriotic Nigerians are subjecting the country to a state of mockery, leading to a long chain of economic stagnation.

One of such symbol of hope is a leader born about four decades ago in the land of beauty (Adamawa state), in him are feats of leadership-naturally born leader, an individual with the right influence, inspiration, determination and self-discipline to become a solution to not only Adamawa State but Nigeria as a nation. He is Barr Aliyu Wakili Boya, the current House of Representatives (HoR) Lawmaker representing song Fufore constituency.

On 8th June, 1978, a genius was born amidst laughter and tears of joy in the family of Wakili Boya at Malabo, where the had Barr Aliyu Wakili Boya.A man that was earlier discovered by elders in Malabo is going to rewrite the history of Adamawa and to bring solutions to generations yet unborn.

Having undergone both the Islamic and western education with flying colours. Ali earned his first Degree in Law from the University of Maiduguri and proceeded to the Abuja Law School for the completion of his academic stride as a Barrister.

Young Ali took his law management skills to the business community, where he excelled in little time, resulting in a globetrot mark for him. Which in turn aided his business experience and political exposure.

Young Boya’s pre and post teenage activities are laced with classic political reach and giving comfort to the less privilege. It was therefore not surprising when the district head of Malabo recognised his greatness and decided to crown him with the special traditional title of ‘SARDAUNAN MALABO’. It is well to personified that the SARDAUNA title in all ramifications links to his selfless service to the people of Adamawa and beyond.

Like the proverbial lion that’s not afraid to face the impossible and take the maximum risk. In his youth, Ali contested election into the House of Representative in his constituency, losing out by giving his opponents a tough contest and the incumbent won the election by a narrow margin. It is at this junction that his political star began to shine among the contemporary politicians of his time.

Ali believes that no matter which ethnic group, race or religion we may belong to, our needs for help, acceptance and motivation remain the same across the globe. It is this believe that pushes him to continuously support and sponsor youths in education and all human endeavours across the state.

As a confirmation of his national political recognition, Wakili became the Senior Chief Legislative Aide one of the most respected politician in the National Assembly,Senator Bello Tukur.

His steady growth in political activism delineated his honesty, doggedness, hardwork and political focus, and this sway on his relentless support for the present administration led by Senator Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow – an icon of transformation in Adamawa state.

With the coming of APC on board, the elders of the party recognised his good leadership qualities, mounted pressure on him to contest for Fofure Local Government Area election, which he won by a lanslide. Making him the new head of the biggest LGAs in the state in terms of land mass and population.

Knowing his political pedigree and credibility, the twenty one (21) LGAs chairmen in Adamawa state unanimously voted him as the chairman of Association of Local Governments in Nigeria (ALGON), a position his age wouldn’t have given him but wills and political maturity does.

Assuming office as the executive chairman of Fufore LGA is business as usual for this great man, in his two years of stewardship in office, the people of Furore felt the impact of his positive adminsitration as he turned around the fortunes of the area through progressive project and human developmental initiatives.

Some of his great achievements are while a chairman of Fufore Local Government:

1.The modernisation of the old LGA Secretariat which was constructed in 1987 during the military era by Zainab Isabi.

2. A modern market in Fofure LGA headquarters of 61 shops and 11 convince places, named in memory of Yerima Aminu Ribadu.

3. The construction of a well modernise Cattle Market in Fufore

4. The construction of Goats Market

5. constructed a well standard Police Division in Fufore.

6. The construction of Primary school in Parta,Farang is one of it kind in Adamawa State.

7. Heconstricted 11 industrial Boreholes scattered across the LGA.

8. He distributed 187 Water pumps to farmers and over 5000 improved seeds were distributed.

9. Over 1000 scholarship to Decree and Diploma students was given to students of all the wards in the LGA.

10. Various Empowerment programs to Women and Youths was organised by Barr Boya

In a recent interview with some indigenes of the state in regards to his fast growing reputation as a selfless leader. Many of the people who spoke, are said that in an age characterized by an obvious dearth of selfless leaders, Ali had carved a niche for himself as a man of the people, a leader who has the best interest of his people at heart.

Having a steady focus of his political radar and his natural call of service to humanity.Boya widen up his philanthropical to the people of Adamawa central comprising of Hong,Gombi,Song,Girei,Yola North, Yola south and Fufore. Of recent he distributed:

1.Over 3,200 bags of fertilizers to All Progressives Congress (APC) Loyalists across the Central Senatorial district.

2. Less privileged students including the disabled in the central senatorial district their WAEC,NECO and JAMB were settled by Ali.

3. Over 5000 students enjoyed his scholarship program across the seven LGAs.

4.Donations of cars, motor cycles and Tricycles was some of his empowerment to people of the zone.

His people objective style of leadership has accrued unto him many awards from difference organizations in and outside the country. Some of the awards are:

1.Great Achiever, service to humanity, presented by Movement for better leaders,Abuja.

2.A merit Award by Nigerian Local government chairmen, for his emergence best performing local government Chairman in Nigeria.

3.Peace for sustainable development,a well deserve honour as Sarkin Matasa Adamawa.

4.Certificate of honour presented to Barr Aliyu Wakili Boya, Zonal Patron North East, Nigeria, Buhari friends organisation network.

The People energetic leader,Wakili Boya is presumed to have a dynamic Political life style who has emerged in the changing times of Adamawa state, whose political vibrancy and keen love of humanity had touched the heart of HRH Lamido of Adamawa, Dr Mustapha Aliyu Barkindo to crown him with the Honourable traditional tittle of "SARKIN MATASAN ADAMAWA EMIRATE ". The tittle "Sarkin matasa" implies Man of the people, lover of people, servant of the people,a voice to the voiceless,a Man who is loved by his people and the youth front ruler (Jagaba).

Many are looking and counting on him to be the number one man to join hands with the Executive Governor of the state for the continual revival of the state from total collapse as a result of bad governance from the previous administrations. And plans are in motion to achieve this desired objective as voices has since echoed out on him to go and be a voice of the masses at the National Assembly as a Lawmaker to represents the good people of Song and Fufore federal constituency of Adamawa central Senatorial zone.

This is found in him,the power to inspire people in all walks of life, a great gift that's rarely seen on people. Great orators can and do change the world through simple words of honesty. They can speak simple and fundamental truths for all people and for all time. But it is not enough to simply convey a vision; you have to make firm politic decisions and get things done to realise that vision. This is exactly what Sardaunan Malabo has done all his political life.

For Ali Wakili it’s a story of how a man was groomed to be a selfless leader with an innate ability and concerted effort to reach that height. Neither quality on its own lead to that glory, it is his sheer believe in both nature and nurture with the power of nature primarily influential during his childhood years.

I have no doubt in my mind that Aliyu Barr Wakili Boya is out to redefine development and make history in Fofure and Song Local Government Areas of Adamawa state and Nigeria as a whole.

I am not trying to paint Sardaunan Malabu as a saint without any flaws. He had his own shortcomings too, after all to err is only human. There are a few things he did that could have been done in a better way. But if you are looking for a person close to perfection in politics and humanity, look no further than Barrister Aliyu Wakili Boya. He is really for the changing times, one of Adamawa State promising Young politician at this time that good leaders are hungered for.

Politics / 2027: Journey To Adamawa Govt House Begins, As Senators, Bankers Show Interest by TGNEWS(m): 11:57am On Aug 10
... with Many others to slug it out on who becomes the next Governor

Maurice Vonobolki, a seasoned international financial expert who retired as a senior manager in the Nigerian banking system through his verified social media accounts.

An ambition he conceal but feelers around are busy peddling the rumors of his nursing dream of becoming the next governor is possible.

Politics / Sen Amos Splashes Various Empowerment Items To Adamawa North Constituents by TGNEWS(m): 11:45am On Aug 10
Sen Amos splashes empowerment to Adamawa North constituents

By Tom Garba, Yola

In just 9 months, Senator Amos Yohanna has demonstrated a level of leadership and commitment that has set a new benchmark for public service in Adamawa North Senatorial District. His swift and decisive actions since taking office are not only visible but also resonate deeply with the aspirations of the people who entrusted him with their mandate.

Senator Yohanna’s achievements reflect a vision for progress, development, and sustainable change that starkly contrasts with the underwhelming performance of his predecessors.

A Vision of Tangible Transformation

From the moment Senator Yohanna assumed office, he embarked on an ambitious agenda focused on job creation, infrastructure development, and social welfare. Recognizing that unemployment is one of the most pressing issues facing his constituency, he prioritized securing job opportunities for the youth.

Through persistent lobbying and strategic partnerships, he has already facilitated employment for many young people, with further opportunities in the pipeline. This proactive approach underscores his commitment to addressing the root causes of economic hardship in Adamawa North.

He lobbied and got slots for young able bodied men and women of his constituency in the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force some of whom are currently undergoing different trainings.

Infrastructure development has been another cornerstone of Senator Yohanna’s transformative agenda. Understanding that access to clean water is fundamental to the health and well-being of his constituents, he initiated the reconstruction of over 10 motorized and handpump boreholes across Michika Local Government Area.

Additionally, he spearheaded the construction of a solar-powered borehole, providing a sustainable water source to communities that have long struggled with water scarcity. These projects are not merely about infrastructure; they are about restoring dignity and improving the quality of life for the people.

Addressing Economic Inequities

The economic challenges faced by the people of Adamawa North have been met with a compassionate and strategic response from Senator Yohanna. He recognized the acute need for immediate relief in the face of rising food prices and economic instability. In response, he launched a conditional cash transfer program aimed at supporting the most vulnerable members of the community. This initiative provided critical financial assistance to those who needed it most, helping to bridge the gap between poverty and survival.

Moreover, Senator Yohanna’s efforts to alleviate hunger in his constituency were marked by the distribution of essential palliatives. These were carefully organized and distributed in several batches, ensuring that essential items such as sugar, oil, rice, spaghetti, blankets, clothing materials, and mats reached those in dire need. His approach to social welfare is both comprehensive and humane, reflecting a deep understanding of the complexities of poverty and a commitment to addressing it holistically.

Empowerment as a Path to Sustainable Development

Senator Yohanna’s vision for Adamawa North extends beyond immediate relief; it is about creating a sustainable future through empowerment and self-reliance. Central to this vision is the empowerment of women and youths, who are the backbone of the constituency’s socio-economic fabric.

In a groundbreaking initiative, he has trained and empowered 142 women and youths with the skills they need to succeed in today’s competitive environment. This program is not just about imparting skills; it is about equipping individuals with the tools and confidence to transform their lives and communities.

33 youths and youths carefully selected from each of the five Local Government Areas of Adamawa North were provided with tools corresponding to the skills they had acquired, reinforcing Senator Yohanna’s commitment to fostering a generation of self-reliant and economically productive citizens.

The empowerment initiative, the first of its kind in the region, saw 39 women and youths receive sewing machines, 41 individuals equipped with hairdressing tools, 30 young people provided with HP laptops, and another 30 given hardware repair tools. These efforts ensure that the beneficiaries are not just trained but also fully equipped to start their own businesses or enhance their employability, thereby contributing positively to the local economy.

Responsive and Compassionate Leadership

Senator Yohanna’s leadership has also been characterized by his responsiveness to the needs of his constituents, particularly in times of crisis. When perennial flooding wreaked havoc in Michika Local Government Area, destroying homes and farmlands, Senator Yohanna did not hesitate.

He personally visited the affected areas, conducted a thorough on-the-spot assessment, and provided financial assistance to the victims. This timely intervention not only alleviated the immediate suffering of those affected but also demonstrated his deep empathy and unwavering commitment to his people.

Furthermore, recognizing the importance of food security as a cornerstone of sustainable development, Senator Yohanna has taken proactive steps to support farmers in his constituency. In a significant move, he distributed 1,700 50KG bags of NPK fertilizer to local farmers.

This initiative is aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity, improving livelihoods, and ensuring that Adamawa North continues to make strides towards achieving food security. By providing essential resources, Senator Yohanna is not just addressing immediate needs but is also laying the groundwork for long-term economic stability and growth.

Commitment to Education

Senator Yohanna’s dedication to the future of Adamawa North is perhaps most evident in his commitment to education. Understanding that education is the key to unlocking the potential of his constituency’s youth, he has taken proactive steps to support students at critical junctures in their academic journeys.

One such initiative is the payment of JAMB fees for over 170 Candidates selected across the 57 Wards of the Senatorial District. This financial support has not only alleviated the burden on families but has also opened doors for many young people to pursue higher education and achieve their dreams.

The impact of this initiative has been profound, with many of the beneficiaries performing exceptionally well in their exams, surpassing expectations, and securing admissions into various institutions of higher learning.

Senator Yohanna’s investment in education is an investment in the future of Adamawa North, ensuring that the next generation is equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to drive the region forward. This commitment to nurturing young minds reflects his broader vision for sustainable development and empowerment, one that places education at the heart of progress.

A Leadership Defined by Action and Results

The accomplishments of Senator Amos Yohanna in just 9 months stand in stark contrast to the lacklustre performance of his predecessor. Whose tenure was marred by inefficacy and missed opportunities, Senator Yohanna’s leadership has been marked by decisive action, tangible results, and a clear commitment to the welfare of his constituents.

While some who lost out in the previous election attempt to distract and undermine, Senator Yohanna remains resolute and undeterred in his mission. The calls for his recall, driven by those still smarting from their electoral defeats, are nothing but a charade—a futile attempt to derail a leader who has demonstrated his capacity to deliver real progress.

Instead of succumbing to the noise, Senator Yohanna continues to focus on the work at hand, dedicating himself to the promises he made to his constituents. This unwavering commitment to his mandate is what sets Senator Yohanna apart.

His focus on delivering tangible results, rather than engaging in political gamesmanship, is a testament to his integrity and dedication to public service. In just under a year, he has shown that true leadership is not about personal vendettas or settling scores but about serving the people with sincerity and purpose.

His record of achievement speaks for itself, and it is clear that no amount of distraction will deter him from his path of progress and development.

Senator Yohanna’s approach to leadership is rooted in the belief that public office is not a privilege but a profound responsibility. His achievements are a testament to what can be accomplished when a leader is driven by a genuine desire to serve the people. The people of Adamawa North can take pride in knowing that they have a representative who not only understands their needs but also works tirelessly to meet them.

Good deeds, as the saying goes, never remain hidden. The impact of Senator Yohanna’s leadership is evident for all to see. Under his guidance, Adamawa North is on a path to progress, and its people are witnessing the kind of transformative change that is the hallmark of true leadership.

Nairaland / General / 50 Reps Members Refute Viral Report, Says Kyari Can't Be Removed by TGNEWS(m): 8:50pm On Aug 01
Over fifty House of Representatives (HoR) lawmakers cutting across various constituencies in the country refuted a call by colleagues numbering fifteen for the removal of the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari.

Hon Billy Osawaru from Edo State, on behalf of the fifty other Lawmakers who addressed media men today in Abuja, said the fifteen lawmakers, under the aegis of The Economy Rescue Group, have acted prematurely, knowing the fact that the parliamentary culture decides a matter under investigation when it is finally concluded.

"We wish to State that it's in the parliamentary culture; therefore, the call of the removal of anyone while the investigation is ongoing is premature," Billy said

Billy, while calling on all Nigerians to be patient and be law abiding in expectation of a better Nigeria, said it's unwise for those calling for Kyari's removal.

He said it's important to address the media because their attention has been drawn by some media outlets calling on the removal of Kyari to put the record straight.

According to him, the hike in fuel prices and associated challenges are fundamental concerns, a reason why the House of Representatives, via its resolution, mandated the House Joint Committee on the mainstream and downstream petroleum sector to investigate the issues in the oil and gas sector.

Billy, however, said that over Fifty of them are deeply concerned and have converged to appraise the 1st August protest staged by Nigerian Youth.

He commended the national assembly, particularly the House of Representatives under the leadership of Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas, PhD, for convening the Youth dialogue to dose the attention surrounding the scheduled protest.

"Having observed the nationwide protest, we commend the Youth and the Nigerians in general for the manner they have conducted themselves. We appeal for calm while employing all Nigerians to bring the protest to an end." He said

The Lawmakers are of the view that Kyari is bringing sound policies and a lot of innovation in the oil industry, and Nigeria should not be fast in calling for his removal.

Politics / With Dr Hong, The Maths Does Not Add Up by TGNEWS(m): 4:07pm On Jul 31
By Macbun Osborne

We were taught in Primary school mathematics, that one plus one would equal two. But, in some cases, the same calculation could equal to three, four, seven, ten or even zero depending on which side of the divide one finds himself.

For every concerted effort at getting the correct answer to this elementary maths, it usually meets with unexplainable capitulation, it never adds up. This background is necessitated by the way and manner our elder brother Doctor Aliyu Idi Hong, a one time Minister who served under the late President Umaru Musa Yar Adua-led administration, who later served as Secretary of the Presidential & Governorship campaign team in Adamawa state last year.

The assumption of many of us is, that immediately Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri assumes office in May 2023, we who worked for the landslide victory of the Governor in the last Gubernatorial poll especially with one of our own close to the seat of power in the state, we were almost certain, that some positive changes added with other forms of democracy dividend will fall in our direction with less hassles. But we were all wrong!

Amongst some of our expectations were that, with Dr Aliyu Idi Hong on the horizon and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri calling the shots, it won’t be business as usual, where only family and friends of holders of political offices enjoy the crumbs from the masters table.

Unfortunately with each passing day since then up till this moment, we have seen our sensibilities continually being abused by one of us in whom we use to hold in high esteem.

For barely fourteen months into the governor’s second term in office, where Doctor Hong is reportedly among the very top ‘kitchen cabinet’ members weilding certain influences, whereby he has been handling major capital contracts allocated to him by the current state government, neither of his political foot soldiers, residents of his immediate community nor stakeholders from even his electoral ward in Shangui, enjoy any of these privileges he has been enjoying all these while.

Fo the records, prominent among some of these multi million naira capital projects executed by our elder brother, are some blocks of classroom in Fufore local government area, a perimeter fencing of a cemetery at Wuro Jabbe in Yola South Local Government, and currently he is handling the construction of a UBEC classroom in Mayobelwa local government area of the state. This is in addition to allegedly selling off at a give away price of a brand new utility jeep to one of his friends(name withheld) gifted to him by the state government at a paltry sum of thirty million naira recently.

While one is not begrudging the former Minister over all of these his influences in the current dispensation, but as a political leader in his own right from our local government area, the expectation of many is, that he would have used

this rare opportunity to empower especially some of us who toiled day and night massaging his ego in the wake of those electioneering period and some young people from our locality from Shangui ward, and indeed stakeholders from his immediate community. But that was not to be. Instead what we have been seeing is our brother singlehandedly smiling to the bank.

To compound his insensitivity to other political allies from his constituency is that, even the appointment slots allocated him and other stakeholders from the area by the state government ,he was alleged to have taken the lion share of the slots to himself. He allegedly gave some of the slots to one of his Aides(name withheld)who reportedly sold them out to some disadvantaged members of the public at the rate of between two hundred thousand and three hundred thousand naira. This attitude to say the least is unfortunate and unbecoming of a person of his standing.

I don’t think we deserve this kind of treatment, for the mere fact that we in Hong Local Government irrespective of our political differences can truly boast of fulfilling all the righteousness of the political process, periodic elections, party followership, going on the hustings to campaign, voter registration, and massive enlightenment on polling conduct, yet when a government is formed, majority of the people don’t enjoy the dividends of democracy commensurate with their hard work that translated into installing an administration.

All these attitudes of some of our leaders has tacitly

informed as that the role of politics in identifying a potential leader(s) has over years been on selfish interest and hopelessly short on moral and ethical values of an individual. Most of our leaders are rail-roaded onto positions of leadership without any demonstration to comprehend the problems of our societies on the basis of which they could fashion a sustainable plan. Generally, less than one percent of our so called political leaders has ever drawn any development plan even for their immediate communities not to talk of the state as a whole.

This negates the principle of democracy which they usually claim to practice at any time the opportunity to exercise our franchise presents itself.

But we are learning everyday, and whenever another opportunity of this nature comes again, we would not be cowed again as done in the past.

Politics / Hunger: We Are Peacefully Going To Protest For Our Destiny , Adamawa Youth Vow by TGNEWS(m): 2:13pm On Jul 31
Contrary to many groups in Adamawa and in many parts of the country announcing their withdrawal, stating their stand on the planned nationwide protest scheduled to commence August 1st to August 10th.

The Youth of Adamawa under the auspices of Adamawa like minds has during a press conference today in Yola vowed to come out to showcase their grievances against the government through a peaceful protest.

The leader of the group who is a renowned Youth activist, Comrade Danladi Jonah (Danlami) told media men that the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forced them to use two of their strongest weapons.

According to him the weapons at their disposal are protest and voting them out and it's the only language the government understands.

They took protest as the first option because they can't wait for two years before they can't air out their grievances as the suffering and hunger can't endure them alive to vote them out.

Danladi while quoting Late chief Obafemi Awolowo who said “the children of the poor that you fail to train (feed), will never let your children live in peace” said they never keep quiet and fold their arms when their destiny is being decided wrongly and their future is at stake.

"We want to use this medium to call on the citizens to peacefully express themselves while matching on the streets of Adamawa state, avoid provocations and be law abiding before, during and after the peaceful protest. In the other hand we are calling on the security agencies to adequately provide security for the protesters as well as safely guard lives and properties especially government assets during the protest." Danladi said

He worried that the government seems to have deaf ears just because the suffering doesn’t affect them directly does not mean they can figure out what is the crux of the current situation of Nigeria that everyone is crying.

He therefore called on the Youth of Adamawa who are of like minds to come out in their number for onward show of grievances in Peaceful manner because section section 40 of the 1999 constitution gives them right, privilege and the leverage to peaceful assembly.

He blasted those that are saying no to peaceful protest as part of the problem of the country and they have failed to speak truth to power.

"To those calling for no peaceful protest, how many of you spoke to power on the current situation of the country before now? How many of you have rendered a helping hand out of your abundance to your neighbors or community? After we forced the government to do the needful, you and your children and your siblings should come out shamelessly and enjoy the benefits of our struggles." He said

Danladi continued to say that:

"It is no longer news; the rising state of insecurity, high cost of living, bad governance, low income, high price of petroleum products, high electricity tariff, high unemployment rates, bad economic policies, etc has forced we the law-abiding citizens to show our grievances to the government through peaceful protest.

"It is unfortunate that all efforts by well-meaning Nigerians to call the attention of government at various levels on some of their bad policies which is gradually sinking our dear nation proof abortive.

"The government palliative measures are not working, the ordinary Nigerian can't afford a decent meal twice a day. Citizens are under paid; we no longer have value for our money. Just on Monday, Adamawa state commissioner for Information said "they are yet to receive the rice promised by the federal government", how do they want the citizens to survive?

"Don’t support evil today because it favors you, it may turn against you the next minutes.
Martin Luther King Jr said "there comes a time when silence is a betrayal"."

This medium quoted a report published in Nairaland which to have quoted Sahara reporters that:

"A disturbing report has emerged, alleging that a Director at the Universal Service Provision Fund under Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), identified as Yomi,

"Though the identity of the victim’s father, who served as a presidential aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, has been withheld to safeguard the victim’s identity, the incident sheds light on the ongoing issue of sexual misconduct and abuse of power in Nigeria.

"As more details emerge, it is imperative that justice be served and that measures be taken to prevent such heinous acts from occurring again.

"The Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) No 19 of 2003, Part IV established the Universal Service Provision (USP) and mandated the Board to supervise and provide broad policy directions for the management of the USP Fund.

"Section 118 of the Act established the USP Secretariat and states that it shall reside in the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and shall be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Universal Service Provision.

"Pursuant to this mandate, the USP Fund started operation in August 2006 and has embarked on various projects.

"According to sources, the agency's management has been attempting to cover up the incident. It is understood that a similar situation occurred during the tenure of the previous Executive Vice Chairman, Prof Umar Danbatta.

"In October 2023, President Bola Tinubu appointed Dr Aminu Maida as the new Executive Vice Chairman, replacing Danbatta.

"Prior to his appointment, Maida served as Executive Director, Technology and Operations at Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems PLC.

"The Presidency said Danbatta’s removal was “in line with President Bola Tinubu’s determination to maximally leverage on Nigeria’s proven technological and digital economic prowess to reposition the nation’s economy toward greater financial inclusion”.

"“The Director of USPF in NCC Yomi has been reported to have molested the daughter of a past press secretary to a president,” one of the sources said.

"SaharaReporters learnt that the NCC management is attempting to sweep the alleged sexual abuse case under the rug due to a previous incident involving another senior staff member, during the tenure of Danbatta.

"“The management is doing all it can to silence the victim because a few years ago, a similar incident happened involving another senior staff member during the Danbatta period but that staff member was suspended and made to miss the promotion,” a source revealed to SaharaReporters. “But today, people are trying to cover up this fresh incident which can lead to more bad behaviour.”

"When SaharaReporters reached out to the father of the alleged victim, he did not confirm or deny the allegation.

""Thank you very much for contacting me. Kindly deal with their office on this," he simply said.

"However, when SaharaReporters reached out to the NCC Head of Media and Public Relations, Mr Reuben Muoka, he said he was not aware of the matter.

"“I don’t have any information on it; I’m not aware of it,” he said.
