Nairaland / General / Joy In Enugu As NCPC Flags Off 2022 Pilgrimage Exercise To Israel by TGNEWS(m): 5:21pm On Dec 16, 2022

....Gov Ifeanyi urges Pilgrims to pray for Nigeria, peaceful transition of power in 2023

....NCPC ES warns against abscondment, praises President Buhari, SGF Boss for constant support

Three hundred intending pilgrims sponsored by the Enugu State Government are set to leave for Israel today for the Holy pilgrimage.

The exercise which was flagged off by the Nigeria Christians Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) officials in Enugu, Friday was full of praises to the Governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburus) for allowing many of them to travel for great spiritual awakening.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi addressed the intending Pilgrims at De Dome event Centre, New Heaven in Enugu, Friday and urged them to pray for Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, leaders at all levels, and a peaceful transition of power as the 2023 general elections are by the corner.

Ifeanyi told the cheering crowds that the Enugu state is in the hands of God and they should continue to seek God's mercy anywhere they go.

According to him the state since its inception in 2015 continue to see the hands of God in all they do, a reason every year they sponsor people for spiritual exercise within the limit of the State's resources irrespective of their denominations.

"This is usually an opportunity for Christians faithful to indulge in quiet times to pray for the state and their families," Ifeanyi said

Governor Ifeanyi said NCPC has given an award to the government of Enugu as the best state in sponsoring Christian Pilgrims, which he dedicated to the body of Christ and called on them to record zero abscondment in order to replicate the gesture.

"We need to protect our reputation as responsible people and I pray you will be good ambassadors for the state, and exhibit a high sense of decency and decorum while in the Holy Land.

" Pray for Nigeria, Pray for the President, Muhammadu Buhari, all Governors for the 36 States, members of national assembly, all Local Government chairmen, and indeed all those in authority in our country whom God has anointed to manage our affairs.

"Please pray for God's intervention in the affairs of our nation, especially the aspect of security and the economic hardship of our nation, pray for 2023 general elections for a successful transition, pray for more love and tolerant among Nigerians and pray for the full restoration of peace, Unity, and Progress. Most importantly may you truly encounter God through the holy spirit in this Journey." Said Ifeanyi.

The national flag off of the December 2022 Christian pilgrimage under the state holy pilgrims sponsorship arrangement, Rev Dr. Pam Yakubu, the NCPC Executive Secretary (ES) said the Pilgrims will be visiting Israel and Jordan.

Rev Pam while appreciating President Muhammadu Buhari and the Secretary to the government of the Federation, SGF, Barrister Boss Mustapha Gidahyel, GCF for their constant support to the commission also warned the intending Pilgrims of any attempt to abscond as security agents are very much on ground to arrest anyone.

Pam also appreciated Governor Ifeanyi for his passion to see the faith of Enugu Christians grow higher

"Sir, God who has given you this wisdom, He will never abandon you," Pam said

He, however, said the commission despite passing through tough times, God's Grace was sufficient enough to make them overcome all challenges.

To people like Egwu Francis who is full of joy for having an opportunity to travel out of the country to the Holy Land of Israel, it's going to be time for him to activate his prayer lines as a Christian to have a spiritual upliftment, and Pray for the state, Nigeria for God hands of intervention to save the country in dire needs of help.

Nairaland / General / Pilgrimage Exercise Commences Soon As NCPC Boss Charges Staff On C'ment To Duty by TGNEWS(m): 8:44pm On Dec 11, 2022
The Executive Secretary (ES) Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam has charged the Management and staff of the Commission to be committed to their duty.

He gave the charge on 9th December, 2022 during a strategic meeting with all the Management and staff of the Commission, held at the Commission,s Chapel, NCPC Corporate headquarters, Abuja.

In his exhortation taken from Luke,s Gospel, chapter 8 verses 22 to 25, where Jesus asked his disciples to go to the other side of the Lake and as they set out sailing there was a storm.

He explained that going to the other side of the Lake as demanded by Jesus Christ meant there was a goal to accomplish. Therefore he admonished the staff to always ensure they have a goal to pursue in life which would enable them to be able to add value to the system.

He maintained that there is usually storm in the life of everyone and in the life of an organization. He averred that the important thing in such situation is the ability to overcome which would be possible through the grace of God.
He reiterated that even in the midst of the storm one should be focused and not distracted, because according to him" there would certainly be light at the end of any dark tunnel".

In a statement Signed by the commission's Deputy Director/Head Media and Public Relations, Mr Celestine Toruka, the ES urged the staff to shun every internal politics within the Commission and concentrate on their job.

The NCPC helmsman further tasked the Commission staff on the need to maintain high level of discipline, especially punctuality to work and loyalty to constituted authorities.

Rev Pam disclosed that the challenges facing the Commission in recent time would be surmounted , especially the issue of funding which is not peculiar to the Commission alone.

He further hinted that the Commission was working towards the commencement of the 2022 December Main pilgrimage exercise to Israel and Jordan. He assured that the date for the commencement would soon be fixed. He further explained that the December pilgrimage would be mainly states pilgrimage affairs, whose intending pilgrims had successfully been screened and had paid their money for the exercise.

The strategic meeting was attended by all the Management and staff of the Commission at the headquarters.

The NCPC boss meets with the staff in order to keep them abreast with current happenings in the Commission.

Nairaland / General / My Bitter Experience In Rome Under Pam's Watch, ES Nigerian Christian commission by TGNEWS(m): 8:07am On Dec 05, 2022
By:
David Simon Dzalla

In September, 2021, I was privileged to be nominated among 165 Adamawa State indigenes, who would travel to Rome on pilgrimage. I was excited that as a Catholic, I was having the opportunity to once again go on pilgrimage to Rome knowing the serene ambience of the place and the value of the spiritual activities that take place there.

Unfortunately this dream was not really achieved as many hurdles rared their ugly heads. The first was the problem of Visa. The journey that was meant for 2021 had to me shifted to 2022. In 2022, after a disgusting power tussle between the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission and the Adamawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, the mandate to lead pilgrims on the trip was handed to the Nigerian Christians Pilgrims Commission (NCPC).

We were forced first to travel all the way to Abuja for visas, we didn't even have to visit the Italian Embassy for the visas but to visit a TLS agent to submit papers for visas, which was not an easy task. I remember vividly as National President of Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria, the late former Secretary General of Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), Very Rev Fr Raph Madu walking up to me one morning and telling me that as National President, I would be representing the Nigerian Catholic Youth at a function in Rome. He instantly directed that I take my international passport to the Italian Embassy for a visa. Two days later, I was called at the embassy to pick up my visa and be prepared to travel without any hastle.

I was thinking I would be having the same experience with the Adamawa State sponsored pilgrimage to Rome. This time around, the reverse was the case. It was so bad that even first class traditional rulers in the state, who are over 60 years old went through the same process yet we're denied visas because of the lack of coordination of the process by the NCPC under the watch of Rev Yakubu Pam.

Having passed through all the visa hastles, few of us were lucky to get visas to travel. Of the 165 persons, who applied for visas, only 132 eventually got visas to travel.

Then came the trip proper, we were made to travel to Abuja, where the group was splited into two batches. The first batch traveled with Qatar Airlines, while second batch traveled with the Ethiopian Airways. I was lucky that I traveled with the Ethiopian Airways. We arrived Rome as early as 6.00am and were moved from the airport to a hotel. On getting to the airport, our first sorrowful mystery was that the reserved accomodation could not go round, so our minds were prepared that we had to share rooms and the number of persons per room, we didn't know.

After two hours of struggling to secure accommodation without success, we requested for breakfast and were shocked when we were told that there was no reservation for breakfast for the day, we had to fend for ourselves. Luckily, we had some top clergies and government officials in our midst, who volunteered to pay as high as ten Euro (€10) for just a piece of sausage roll and a cup of tea, bearing in mind that Euro exchanged for N870 at the time, we only succeeded in having a piece of sausage roll and a cup of tea for N8700.

While trying to settle down after the unfortunate incidences of the morning and thinking of the next line of action, the almighty Rev Yakubu Pam walked into the hotel with over twenty-five members of his staff and aids, who were coming to be part of the pilgrimage at the instance of the Adamawa State government. On arrival, he ordered that we all come down from our rooms for a briefing.

After the briefing, he announced that he was staying somewhere in another hotel with few of his staff but that some others would have to stay with us in our hotel with us as the ones supervising us in the hotel. He also informed us that he had hired some special ground handlers from Israel to handle the pilgrimage for us. On hearing that, my mind reflected on the glorious days of the NCPC under Dr John Kennedy Opara, where we had good ground handlers from Israel whenever one went on pilgrimage. Unfortunately, the case was not the same.

Following the briefing, I could recall Rev Pam asking the Director of Finance of the NCPC to call the Director of Finance of the Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board to hand over some money to him. I witnessed the Director of Finance of the Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board hand over the sum of thirty-four thousand, five hundred Euro (€34,500) to the Director of Finance, Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, which they said was for logistics and other expenses. I was glad when the Director of Finance, Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board insisted on getting an evidence that such amount of money had been paid to the NCPC since the Commission hadn't a receipt to issue.

Few hours later, the second batch of pilgrims on board Qatar Airways arrived and were brought to the same hotel. The woes became more complicated as we were already being paired in the rooms. With the arrival of this batch, rooms had to take between four and five persons. A serving commissioner and a head of a tertiary institution in the state had to sleep for six days on the floor because they were five in their room but the bed was meant for only two but they could manage to squeeze three on the bed while two slept on the floor. I personally had spent all my six days on the floor. I did that alongside the Director of Operations of the Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Besides not having good accommodation, good food is another challenge for us. e hadn't good food to eat. But to the glory of God, before NCPC took the arrangement, there was an arrangement for local food through one Rev Fr Matthew Dusami, a priest of Yola Diocese studying in Rome, who arranged for an Igbo lady to be supplying us some Nigerian meals. Because the meals were nice and rich, one of the female pilgrims decided to to preserve some for two days and eating eating without even warming it. Imagine preserving pounded yam and soup for two days and be eating it cold.

My expectations of going to Rome to pray with a lot of prayer intentions for my family, friends, state and country was a bit shattered. The only consolation we had was the intervention of a Catholic bishop, who made a perfect arrangements for a Papal audience for us. We had one of the best Papal audiences. That alone consoled us.

Little wonder I felt for the Abuja Pilgrims, who went after us. I knew it was going to be another disaster. Truly pilgrims of Abuja were unanimous that it was a disaster. Even the Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Christians Pilgrims Commission, said the board has to suspend pilgrimage activities till further notice due to the shabby way the Rev Yakubu Pam led Commission organises pilgrimages. I really wonder why such a man would still be allowed to stay in office by the government of the day. Maybe it is because he is being used to divide the Christians over the All Progressives Congress Muslim-Muslim ticket. He is currently going round to admonish Christians not to vote according to their consciences but to vote the APC ticket. Outside that, the man isn't fit to be in that office.

This is my bitter experience in Rome with the Rev Yakubu Pam led NCPC.

Politics / NCPC Scandal ; Rev. Kasali & Bishop Dami Are Obi's Moles On A Mission by TGNEWS(m): 2:08pm On Dec 04, 2022
After allegations made by Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza, Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese and the CAN Chairman Adamawa State in less than two minutes press conference generated ugly reactions.

We have observed with great concern that another PDP Wike has emerged in APC this time by name Rev. Yomi Kasali, the board chairman, Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission. He has identified as working against the ruling Party All Progressives Congress.

One one the National television station released a bizarre video where Bishop Dami called on EFCC to go after his famous colleague Rev. Yakubu Pam, the ES National Christian Pilgrim Commission.

We have observed that since November 2017, when Dami was elected as CAN chairman Adamawa State there has been accounts gross insubordination by Dami against his Boss, Rev. Yakubu Pam, the 19 Northern State CAN. The National CAN failed to set up committee to facilitate its investigation into the continuous attack on Pam. Dami's range of inappropriate behavior must brought under control before it is too late.

The allegations have brought about a flood of damage control to Dami's one man show of leadership in CAN Adamawa State where he has hijacked everything to himself. Infact, he has blocked every Christian leader access to the Governor of Adamawa State.

The revelations of Dami's alleged behavior took a bizarre turn 2019 when he polarised the Youth Wing of CAN in his desperate move to foist his marghi son from own tribe.

Dami is apparently frustrated when key Christian youth Leaders in Adamawa state vehemently refused to endorse his candidate Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential candidate. The dismissed Dami's Obi because he has nothing to offer Nigerians.

The group accused Rev. Kasali of working for Peter Obi at the background. We know Kasali has been holding secret meetings in the United States of America to promote Labour Party presidential candidate Obi. When time comes we shall make more revelations

Pastor Love Zidon, the glorified village champion Seating as Administrator, Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board has been the arrow Head orchestrating some dirty deals for his master. Soon we shall produce damaging evidence of the self acclaimed Clergyman.

Finally, we are giving them a grace of one week to apologise to Rev. Pam or we shall publish their behind the pulpit activities, most likely their secret concubines.

Nairaland / General / Rev Yakubu Dispels Yomi's Claims Of NCPC Suspension Of Pilgrimage by TGNEWS(m): 9:40am On Dec 04, 2022

....says exercise ongoing, challenges Adamawa CAN chair on corruption allegations

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, Reverend Yakubu Pam, on Saturday debunked claims that the NCPC has suspended the 2022 pilgrimage.

Pam also challenged the Chairman of the Adamawa State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Bishop Steven Dami Manzo over the corruption allegations he levelled against him.

NCPC Board Chairman, Rev Yomi Kasali had recently announced the suspension of all activities related to this year’s pilgrimage to Jerusalem while Bishop Manzo had accused the NCPC executive secretary of financial misappropriation.

Reacting during a news programme on TVC on Saturday evening, the NCPC boss said as the chief accounting officer of the commission, nobody had suspended the 2022 pilgrimage.

He said there was no time that the NCPC management or Board held any meeting to take a decision to suspend this year’s pilgrimage, which had already commenced and was still ongoing.

Pam clarified that due to some logistics problems encountered in the course of the pilgrimage, the Board of the Commission met in November and resolved that the commission would not continue with the airlifting of the pilgrims from the states that had paid to Israel for the November-December exercise.

He added that discontinuing the airlifting of intending pilgrims does not amount to and should not be misconstrued as a suspension of the entire pilgrimage activities.

Pam further stated that suspending pilgrimage was a cumbersome process which the Commission could not unilaterally take a decision on as its supervisory body must inform the President through the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the National Assembly.

He added that the Commission’s customers, which are the state governments that have paid and the private tour operators could also drag NCPC to court if it decided to take any decision to suspend the pilgrimage.

Pam said, “Because of the logistics problems we faced, we said we should not continue with airlifting, not suspending pilgrimage activities. Suspension means that everything is locked down.

“Before you make a statement on anything suspension, you must write our supervisory body and tell them that we’re suspending activities. You’ll also have to, which is through the office of the SGF, to inform Mr President that everything in the commission is suspended. You must also write the National Assembly and our customers because they have the right to take us to court as a lot of them have paid us to travel.

“But when we say airlifting is suspended, it means other activities are going on and what are other activities? Today, we have over 12 states that have already paid to travel and we’re conducting what we call screening to make sure we have those who are certified to travel, by health, and those that we feel may not abscond. This is what is going on and is part of the pilgrimage activities and just within three weeks or two weeks ago, we have more than four states that have already paid.

“And we have private sector tour organisations which registered with us and they have the licence to carry people to Israel and bring them back but through us because we also screen them and we are in charge of the visas. Until we write the authorities and Government of Israel to give them visas, they will not have visas. And right now as I’m talking, we have over a hundred of them in Israel. So, if there is suspension of pilgrimage activities, why are people in Israel? Why are people in Jordan?”

Pam also said there was no controversy about the N1.5millon paid by intending pilgrims, adding that the commission held a meeting with its private customers and the states in September where the fee was agreed upon.

“As I said, about 12 states have already paid. We start with that first before you go into procurement and then you award the contract to the contractors that will carry the people by the airlines and then the ground handlers who are there in Israel,” he said.

On the corruption allegations leveled against him by the Adamawa State CAN chairman, the NCPC boss said anyone with any proof of graft against should present his evidence to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which is the supervisory body rather than making wild and unfounded allegations in the media.

“I’m here as the chief accounting officer of the commission to say that there is no suspension of pilgrimage anywhere. If somebody mentions corruption at NCPC, there is a way you can bring it up – bring evidence of the money and whatever it is, there is EFCC or you can take it to those who supervise us. You can come to the media level corruption allegations,” Pam said.

Nairaland / General / Your Hatred Against Pam Is Making You A Lesser Bishop-can Official Replies Dami by TGNEWS(m): 10:20am On Dec 02, 2022
....says is a scorn leader

The Press Conference by Adamawa State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Steven Dami Mamza who called EFCC, and ICPC to investigate the activities of the Nigeria Christians Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) of ongoing corruption was described as a statement of hatred coming from a hater of many years

The commission whose executive secretary is Pam Yakubu has continued to generate counter-reactions in his defense.

The Youth CAN Chairman of the Nineteen Northern States including the FCT, Evangelist Musa Dathan Misal described the attitude of Dami as nothing as the vested hatred he developed against Pam over the years.

According to him what Dami postulated is never a good principle of a Man who much is expected of him in Wisdom and good leadership creeds.

Musa berated Steven that he does not have the moral local stand to accuse anyone of leadership defects to have failed to reconcile the warring factions of YOWICAN under his watch.

He revealed that what Dami said in Yola is a venom of hatred he has had against Yakubu over the years.

He recalled in many instances while Pam was the Chairman of Nineteen Northern states of CAN that whenever he toured Adamawa Dami will never come or respond to any call for a meeting.

Misan described the Catholic Bishop as having his issues with Pam than he professed. This to him is making him a Bishop with fewer spiritual threads than it should be.

In his efforts to reply to Mamza, Musa Misan granted a phone interview to our correspondent and stated that:

"Dami Mamza right from inception has never liked Yakubu Pam, so I don't expect him to say anything good about him. Besides what he said are all lies he fabricated to suit his interest not the interest of the Church.

"I'm a living witness that I can testify of how Mama's venom of hatred has been there for years, only decided to spew it out recently. This is the high level of leadership defects is exhibiting. If you go to Adamawa today you will discover that he is running a one Man riot squad leadership as the CAN Chairman of the State. He doesn't involve all excos in the happenings of CAN, no stakeholders in the Adamawa CAN are being told of the affairs of the CAN, and he does what pleases without contacting anybody.

" The allegations he raised against Pam to have caused a serious problem with the pilgrimage exercise of Adamawa. Let me tell you, it was this same Dami that misguided the Executive Secretary (ES) of the Adamawa Christian well board, Pst Zion Zidon Love that they must not go through the NCPC, and that he can airlift Pilgrims direct to Rome.

"I was at the picture to all that happened to extend that Governor Ahmadu Fintiri sends a delegation involved the Deputy Governor, the SSG, and the Chief of Staff to beg Pam and meddle in the situation, I know then I was equally contacted to beg Pam after the whole issue has gotten to a bad state caused by Dami.

" It was a shame that Mama's bad leadership qualities have made the board for the first time give Pilgrims their money for the journey in naira not in dollars as it use to be.

"Mama's bad leadership style and his penchant for hatred for those telling him the truth of derailing from a Bishop to a political-religious voice in defense of the government of Adamawa is indeed an example of a bad leader.

" This same does collect advice, he goes about with pomposity without listening to any person.

"He turned himself into a small God because of the CAN Secretariat he built. A project we know who and who donated to make sure is completed. This project even the moment nobody has given us accountability for all the money collected.

" Since the second election of this man into office, he has never visited the CAN secretariat in Abuja for any council general meeting. The office does is not benefiting anybody.

"So nobody is seeing Dami as a good leader. He has no regard for any man and does not respect the CAN Constitution.

" His leadership style is weak to the extent that he can not resolve the two factions existing in the Youth wing of CAN. All these are happening because of his selfish interest. For me Dami is not a spiritual Father, is more of a detector than even a leader."

Politics / Channel Your Grievances To ADSCPB-NCPC Replies Catholic Bishop Dami by TGNEWS(m): 7:24pm On Dec 01, 2022
In a swift reaction to dissociates itself from the alleged misconduct leveled against the Nigeria Christians Pilgrimage commission (NCPC) by Bishop Steven Dami Mamza, a Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese and the Adamawa Christian Association of Nigeria Chairman.

The Commission issued a press statement dissociated all allegations raised by Dami through its Deputy Director/Head of Media and public relations, Celestine Toruka calling on Dami Mamza to channel his grievances to the Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board who handled all aspects of the Rome pilgrimage except visas.

NCPC in reply they exonerated the Executive Secretary, Rev Pam Yakubu by putting the record straight that Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board wanted to airlift intending pilgrims to Rome in November last year without recourse to NCPC.

"NCPC insisted that the board had no such powers to airlift such number of intending pilgrims to Rome because it is only the Commission through its establishment Act of 2007 is mandated to coordinate and superintend all Christian pilgrimage activities by supervising the movement of Christians to the Holy sites around the world.

"This was put to rest following the intervention of the Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency Ahmadu Fintiri and both the Secretary of the State Government and the Chief of Staff who pleaded that NCPC should help the board to procure visas to the intending Adamawa pilgrims.

"This presupposes that all ground handling issues and flight arrangements for the pilgrims had been concluded before recourse to NCPC.

"I want to reiterate that NCPC only intervened because of the need to properly carry out extreme vetting on the intending pilgrims for the purpose of securing visas.

"The Commission was never part of any logistics arrangements for Adamawa pilgrims. It is therefore surprising that the respected Catholic Bishop of Yola Dioceses, His Grace, Bishop Mamza is accusing the Commission of gross misconduct and corruption even though he knows that the Commission was only called to save the Adamawa Rome pilgrimage trip from collapse.

"It is even strange that the Chairman of the State Chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN is the one talking about pilgrimage exercise, the Commission does not deal with CAN State Chapter rather it deals with the State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards. This is an aberration except there is an ulterior motif behind it.

"The Adamawa Rome Pilgrimage took place between 23rd -28th May, 2022 and a formal report was submitted to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, our supervising body.

"How can a pilgrimage that took place over five months ago become an issue of criticisms and alleged corruption?

"The Chairman of CAN Adamawa State should not usurp the functions of the Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board; let them speak for themselves as the facts and figures of that pilgrimage are intact.

"One would have expected that the Catholic Bishop would have channeled his concerns to the appropriate authorities rather than granting press conference.

"The fact remains that what the Commission did in the Adamawa Rome trip was a rescue and intervention Mission." The statement read

Politics / Over 200 Adamawa PDP Members Defect To YPP As Candidate Flag Off Campaign by TGNEWS(m): 6:50am On Nov 29, 2022
Activities in Mayo Belwa town on Saturday came to a halt as the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate vying to represent Mayo-Belwa, Toungo, Jada and Ganye federal constituency in the house of representatives, Nuruddeen Hammanyero, flags-off campaign amidst pomp, pageantry and unprecedented camaraderie.

During the flag-off which was attended by members and leaders of other political parties including PDP and APC, the candidate also unveiled his five-point manifesto centered around the development of Trade, Education, Agriculture, Security and Empowerment.

The ambition of Nuruddeen Hammanyero got a boost as a PDP stalwart in the area Nuruddeen Okocha, led over 200 stalwarts from other political parties to join the campaign train of Hammanyero because of the belief that the budding politician has what it takes to turn around the fortunes of the people of the area.

Meanwhile, the ancient town was virtually shutdown as thousands of supporters of the candidate left their activities and joined the long motorcade of supporters as the candidate moves round the town to fraternize with the people.

Movement through the town was hectic as it took the candidate hours to finish activities line up for the day including visitation to the palace of the district head and unveiling of the party’s campaign office as security operatives had a hectic time trying to control the ever surging crowd of supporters.

While thanking the teeming people of Ganye, Toungo, Jada and Mayo Belwa for their uncommon gesture and show of goodwill, Hammanyero who was visibly overwhelmed with emotion pledged not to disappoint them if elected.

He noted that if elected, he will channel considerable energy to ensure the revival of the constituency’s potentials through proper border security, and attract investments to the area in order to usher in peace, stability and trade prosperity.

Hammanyero said he is in the race to right the wrongs of the past noting that the area has suffered neglect since the advent of this democratic dispensation in 1999.

He however expressed optimism that all hope is not lost as the messiah who will save the constituency from from further drift has appeared in the horizon.

Hammanyero urged the people not to despair in the face of serial disappointments they suffered in the past as he is mindful of the verdict of posterity on him.

He enjoined the people to go out en mass and collect their PVCs noting that the voter’s card is the only weapon at their disposal to elect good leaders come 2023 general election. He also pleaded with the other constituents to reciprocate the gesture Mayo Belwa has been extending to them over the years by voting him this time around.

Speaking during the occasion, the Director General of Nuruddeen Hammanyero campaign council, Hammadu Jada called on the people of Ganye chiefdom to support Mayo Belwa to produce the next federal lawmaker in the area so as to reciprocate the gesture Mayo Belwa has extended to the chiefdom over the years.

“Since the advent of democracy, Mayo Belwa has been supportive to Ganye chiefdom making its sons to represent the area in the house of representatives. In reciprocity, we should also support Mayo Belwa now as one good turn deserves another.

Politics / Tukur Denies PDP Chance To Field Candidate For Adamawa Central Senatorial Seat by TGNEWS(m): 9:36pm On Nov 28, 2022
...scuttles ADHA speaker's Senatorial Ticket

The Federal High Court I in Yola, Adamawa State on Monday, nullified the primary election of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) which produced the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, as candidate for Central Senatorial District.

The election was invalidated on grounds that an aspirant, Auwal D. Tukur, who participated in the exercise did not resign his appointment as the Chairman Governing Council of the State University Mubi, before contesting.

Auwal Tukur's participation in the exercise without tendering his resignation letter brought about the nullification of the election which saw the emergence of Iya Abbas, as flagbearer.

Aside the nullification of the exercise, the court barred the party from fielding a candidate for the district in the 2023, general election since the entire excercise was voided.

The court's judgement scuttled the chance of Iya Abbas, who represents Uba/Gaya constituency at the State House of Assemnly from contesting in the 2023 polls to represent the district.

The court presided by Justice A. M. Anka, nullified the election while delivering judgement in suit instituted by an aspirant, Ibrahim Mustapha (Baba10).

However, the judge declined to order for fresh primary election; instead, declared that anyone who is satisfied with the court's verdict has the right to appeal the decision.

Our medium was informed that the Speaker is considering appealing the decision in order to seek redress.

Ibrahim, sued the party, Iya Abbas, Auwal Tukur and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) where he asked the court to nullify the election which according to him was marred by irregularities.

He told the court that aside conconting or doctoring the list of delegates, Auwal Tukur as well as some delegates who participated in the exercise were goverment appointees in an outright violation of the electoral act.

Meanwhile, the court presided by Justice Anka, on Monday, struck out a case filed by an aspirant, Mohammed Murtala Modibbo.

In his suit, Modibbo, had alleged that the speaker submitted falsified/fake documents to the PDP Screnning Committee and urged the court to declare the election conducted on the 23th May, 2022 null and void.

Delivering judgement on the case, Anka, held that the suit cannot be resolved vide originating summons or base on assertion as contained therein in the affividat tendered.

Justice Anka, declared that the mode of commencement of the action via originating summons was wrong and cannot be sustained, insisting that the foundation is shady and shaky.

Politics / 2023: Why We Have Chosen To Endorse The Obi/datti Ticket-babachir Reveals by TGNEWS(m): 8:05pm On Nov 23, 2022

....states 6 main reasons Tinubu Muslim Muslim ticket in not good for Nigeria

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and a critical stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Engr Babachir David Lawal has revealed their next line of action on who to support in the 2023 coming Presidential election.

David as one of the foremost critics of APC’s single-faith presidential ticket, and also in difference to those who have patiently waited for their guidance as to where to pitch their tent, according to him after a painstaking review and analysis of the alternative presidential tickets, they now wish to recommend the Obi/Datti presidential ticket.

The Adamawa born politician gave the long anticipated action by many Nigerians in a press statement he signed and made available to news men briefly narrated some few reasons among many why they have endorsed the Obi/Datti's ticket and commend it to all Nigerians of good conscience who desire justice, equity and a harmonious co-existence of all Nigerians across tribes, religion and geopolitical regions.

He denied the rumors currently in circulation as fake news that he have thrown in his towel with the PDP as nothing could be further from the truth. To him the PDP and APC are different sides of the same coin.

"1. The APC same-faith is a deliberate, well-calculated plan to sow the seeds of religious and social discord among Nigerians. It is obvious that Northerners, in particular, are the intended targets and victims of this satanic plan. It is an indisputable fact that the whole of Northern Nigeria is currently mired in several intractable socio-economic problems due to the activities of several nebulous criminal groups. Agriculture, the mainstay of the northern economy, is all but abandoned because kidnappers and bandits have prevented people from venturing out of the safety of their homes. Interstate and intercity travel for either business or leisure have all but ceased not only due to un-motorable roads but more so for fear of kidnapping, armed robbery and other forms of banditry. Our rural schools have all but closed for fear of kidnappers. Government-owned universities have closed thus depriving the children of the already impoverished Northern masses access to affordable higher education. Thus, our out-of-school and idle children have become easy targets for recruitment by bandits and kidnappers. And there is no solution in sight.

"Then, out of nowhere this man Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a renown Yoruba-hegemonist, a man who championed the establishment of a Ministry of Regional Integration in each state government of the South-west geopolitical region which he bestrides as an emperor, and a man who was once quoted as saying “I do not believe in one Nigeria” (THISDAY, The Sunday Newspaper, April 13, 1997, page 9) comes up with a Muslim-muslim ticket knowing fully well that religion is the underbelly of Northern Nigeria. APC’s same-faith ticket is a ploy to further sow discord among Northerners using the most potent weapon of social discord - religion. As Karl Max once said - “religion is the opium of the people”. Nigerians from all shades of the society must see this Tinubu/Kashim same-faith ticket as a proposal from the pit of hell that can only be conjured by the most Machiavellian minds known to man and therefore must be rejected wholesome by all lovers of our country and its nascent democracy.

"On the other hand, Alhaji Kashim Shetima, Tinubu’s Vice Presidential running mate is a man who once said “restructuring my foot, let’s restructure our minds”. For eight years he presided over Borno State at a time when Boko Haram was overrunning the state almost at will and restructuring the minds of its victims against Christianity and western education. The kidnapped Chibok and Dapchi girls and many more are now slowly trickling out of captivity in the Boko Haram indoctrination camps fully Islamized and carrying children born into Islam in captivity - a true example of “mind restructuring” if there ever was one. There is also this little matter of an allegation of a very close relationship or otherwise between the Vice Presidential candidate of APC and Boko Haram! And, which Christian can forget one Kabiru Sokoto the alleged Boko Haram kingpin accused of complicity in the Christmas bombing of St Theresa Catholic Church, Madallah that resulted in 44 deaths and 77 injured Christian worshippers? Or that the said Kabiru Sokoto was eventually arrested at his hiding place in the Borno State Government Lodge Abuja? Are Christians not justified in being scared of a government run by these duo?

"2. Surely, APC’s same-faith ticket is intended to shame Christians and bestow on them and their religion a second-class socio-political status in their own country. In particular it is a validation of the discrimination and oppression being meted out on Northern Nigerian Christians where they are now denied employment, promotion, contracts, and admission to read prestigious and marketable courses in government-owned schools simply on account of their religion. It is no wonder then that Alhaji Bola Tinubu thinks that the Bible is a book of jokes from which he can freely construct his “jokes” like his “Poisoned Holly Communion” and “Speaking in Tongues” jokes. If he is man enough, I challenge him to ridicule the Holy Quran even once as he freely does the Holy Bible. This guy has no respect for Christians and Christianity at all.

"3. This APC ticket goes against the grain of Nigerian politics which in practice (if not in law) has always sought to achieve a religious balance in its politics and governance. It is worth noting that all the other seventeen political parties fielding presidential candidates have gone the way of established conventions and practices by fielding different-faith tickets. Truly except for its incitement to social disharmony, there is no sense at all in APC’s same faith ticket.

"Furthermore, in our quest for justice and equity in the socio-political and religious space of the country, it is obvious that only the Obi/Datti ticket has the potential of speaking to the genuine clamor for power shift to the South-East and at the same time speak to the cry of marginalization by our people of the South-East. Obviously, a Christian/Muslim presidency like the Obi/Datti one will be most appropriate at this stage of our political journey more so since we are now transiting from a Muslim/Christian presidency. It will also achieve the regional shift of the presidency from the current NW/SW to a SE/NW presidency as popularly being canvassed . This is justice; this is equity. This is political engineering at its best and one that engineers peace and harmonious co-existence of the various socio-political and religious classes of our nation.

"4 Nigerians should also resist the temptation of being ruled by the same set of courtiers who are recycling themselves, their children and their friends in a monarchal fashion, in and out of government to the exclusion of other segments of the society. This trend has resulted in these disastrous consequences in which we now find ourselves - impoverished, unsecured, divided, severely underdeveloped and massively unemployed with a widening gulf between the rich and poor of the society. A keen observer will not fall to notice that APC is a transmutation of Action Group/UPN that is dominated by the children or grandchildren of those who once run and ruined the Action Group while the PDP is a transmutation of NPC/NPN similarly dominated by the children or grandchildren of the people who once run and ruined the NPC. A government of either APC or PDP will only be a recycling of the same class of people who have been running and ruining the country from independence to date. Is it any wonder that Nigeria has remained static?

"The Obi/Datti will give us breath of fresh air and the greatest opportunity to redeem our country from the quagmire into which we have been plunged by a recurring group of self-centred reactionaries.

"5. There is a also this palpable fear and anxiety over a possible transition of the current presidency from one Fulbe to another - same tribe, same religion, same region, same courtiers. This has given rise to a heightened fear of a possible perpetuation of a Fulbe hegemony in the country. Besides, there is the perception by many Nigerians that the Fulbe are the main actors in the banditry and kidnappings currently ravaging the country. Therefore, there is a widespread perception that another Fulbe-led government will not have the inclination or political will to address the country’s security challenges seeing as a majority of the perpetrators are its kindred.

"There is also this perception that appointments by the current government are driven more by ethnic and religious cronyism than by Nationalistic considerations. This has given rise to a fear of a possible perpetuation of this trend by another Fulbe-led government. Both APC and PDP presents us with these horrible options. The Obi/Datti ticket possesses a great potential to wean us from these problems.

"6. Finally, as the political campaigns advance towards the election dates, the tendency to divide the country along regional, tribal and religious affiliations is gradually beginning to manifest. We can see very clearly that the APC having woefully failed in its original plan to instigate a form of jihad which it had sought through its same-faith ticket in order to capture the moslem votes, has now resorted to a tribal card. The battle cry is now “it is our turn” tribal card in the South-West. The PDP on the other hand, seeing new opportunities in APC’s failed jihad strategy is tending towards adapting both the religious and ethnic strategies of APC in the North.

"Nigerians must be awake to these very dangerous campaign trends because any of the political parties that comes into government by pandering to ethnic or religious sentiments may not be able govern successfully and might further accentuate the social cleavages .

"Men of good conscience should therefore look to opportunities that unite rather than divide us. Only the Labor Party presents this opportunity. We therefore call on all patriots to labor for our country in this presidential election. Nigeria’s future is at stake in this presidential election. Obi-Datti is the only way to go. All other ways lead to perdition." Lawan said

Nairaland / General / Group Praises Emefiele For Redesigning Naira, Names Him Man Of The Year by TGNEWS(m): 7:06am On Nov 21, 2022
The Arewa Economic Advancement Promoters ( Area - P) a Group of Strategic Communication specialists and academics which has been involved in advocacy on economic empowerment policies and programmes in Northern Nigeria has thrown its weight behind the policy for the redesign of the nation’s currency by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Addressing a press conference in Kaduna on Sunday, the Group's Convener, Nasir Dambatta shared the Central Bank of Nigeria's concerns about the urgent need to take measures to deal with liquidity and the flow of crime proceeds in the nation and also feel duty bound to underscore the essence of the Naira redesign policy generally.
The Group declared as unacceptable for Nigeria to allow 80% of badly-needed cash outside commercial banks because this has so far had damaging consequences on the national economy.
The CBN, it said, should be allowed to follow this process upto the point of regaining full control over money supply.
"This is necessary, at least in view of ou worrisome inflation, which reached 20.7 per cent in September 2022, according to media reports," Dambatta said.
He noted that the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele admitted that as at September 2022, Nigerian banking system had N3.23 trillion in circulation. Of this amount, N2.73 trillion is now outside commercial bank vaults or hidden by some citizens in crude forms.
"Our independent investigation has confirmed that the CBN wants to first and foremost mop up that N3.32 trillion back into the system, to enable the apex bank take control of money supply again, and begin to see how such a strategy will help rein in inflation.
"We also wish to draw the attention of Nigerians to the fact that the CBN has acted within limits of its monetary policy powers, on this naira redesign policy. The management of the CBN relied of section 2(b), section 18(a), and section 19(a)(b) of the CBN Act 2007; had duly sought and obtained President Muhammadu Buhari's approval to proceed with releasing and circulation of new series of N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes," he said
The Group also shared the Senate's position as captured by the Committee Chairman on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions - Senator Uba Sani( Kaduna Central) that the CBN's action will address counterfeiting due to the prolonged use of the same notes, ulling the cash outside the banks will augur well for the economy as monetary policy decision making will be easier and that less notes, especially outside the banking system, will curb terrorism financing.
"We agree with Uba Sani that the less cash available outside the banking system will reduce corrupt practices engendered by cash exchanges," he said .
The Group also noted that Committe has been mandated by the Senate to deploy "aggresive" monitoring of the redesign process is very good for Nigeria, saying it is a commendable step.
"We wish to also commend President Muhammadu Buhari, his Chief Economic Adviser and Central Bank Bank Governor, Dr. Godwin Emefiele; the Senate's Banking and Finance Committee leadership and other relevant stakeholders for this well-thought-out policy, without prejudice to those opposed to the policy for political reasons or ignorance of the difference between Monetary Policy and Fiscal Policy.
"We also hereby announce our willingness to voluntarily join stakeholders in redoubling efforts towards sustaining the tempo of public enlightenment on Naira Redesign and related issues.
"As a group, we hereby declare the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele our Man of The Year for the Trillions of Naira agricultural support funds and empowerment of owners of Small Scale and Medium Enterprises in our region and indeed Nigeria. Furthermore, he successfully pled Nigeria out of recession twice," Group said.
It said it is heartwarming to many discerning observers, that the current CBN management has done its best towards funding support for agriculture, Small Scale and Medium Enterprises( SMEs) in Northern Nigeria more than ever before in the region's economic history.

Politics / 2023: The Unguided Words Of Sen Abbo Will Send Him To Political Golgotha-digil by TGNEWS(m): 6:18am On Nov 06, 2022
With a lamentable tune and regrettable utterances, Engr Abubakar Adamu Digil accused the Senator representing Adamawa North zone, Mr. Ishaku Elisha Abbo of allowing Youthful exuberance to beclouded his political line of thoughts and sense of reasoning.

Digil who said is from Mubi and in 2019 has supported Senator Ishaku Abbo in canvassing votes in the entire Mubi Emirate council is regretting his actions because the Senator has failed woefully in terms of quality representation.

According to him, Abbo has used his Mouth to destroy his political career, and his vindictive statements over contemporary issues of politics are now boomeranging as an enemy chasing him to political grave yard.

He said that his words are counting against him to the extent that his supporters are tired of putting up defenses that are not yielding to anything.

Digil recalled that the way and manner Senator Ishaku responded on the All Progressives Congress' Muslim Muslim Presidential ticket, his penchant for hatred for Muslims is glaring and noticeable in the eyes of everyone.

He said Abbo uttered that "Buhari, Tinubu, APC Chairman and anyone that supported the Tinubu/Shetima ticket to sail through are all potential Boko Haram members " this is a serious statement that is biting hard the heart of Muslim politicians and felt bad over the unwarranted statement.

Digil recalled how the Senator went to many outlets including national and international media describing the joint ticket as a slap and disrespectful to the Christian community.

He further recalled how Abbo asserted that the "decision is outrightly a blasphemy and a sacrilege to all Christians in Nigeria, especially those who are card-carrying members of the party."

Digil accused the Adamawa Northern Senator to professed venom of hatred in any Church gathering he visited, calling on them not to support the Muslim Muslim ticket and anyone that does that is a "potential Boko Haram member" has gone beyond his limit of operation.

On the Muslim Muslim ticket also Abbo Stated his position on both his verified social media handles and said that his soul is not for sale, he cannot trade truth for votes, and he cannot be used to cover up injustice.

The condemnation of the Muslim Muslim Ticket by Senator Cliff, an APC stakeholder made Digital view that the aggressive lawmaker has declared open war on all party critical stakeholders.

Digil was perturbed to say that Senator Abbo's views of all "APC members who do not rise against the Muslim Muslim join ticket are potential Boko Haram members" is a denigrating statement that should not be taken lightly.

He said: "The implication of Abbo's statement is simply to mean that both President Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the party's national chairman, the party's Presidential candidate, Senator Bola Tinubu, and the fifteen Governors of the party who supported this ticket are all potential Boko Haram members because they have endorsed the ticket and seen its legibility to win the election come 2023.

" This is where he is having an issue, this Man is busily de-marketing the party in our area, given the New Nigerian People's Party's undue popularity.

"The question is why is Senator Abbo doing this? It's because he is fast losing relevance in the political circle of Adamawa state. This is the same person holding the party's ticket and is busy captivating and attacking all prominent party men in the name of fighting for the Christian religion.

"I'm calling for a rescue mission to our party and the only way to do it is to sanction Abbo by sending him out of the party, even if it means voting against him. Because is dividing us more along religious and tribal lines that we don't have before.

" You can take or leave, the Muslim gave him the chunk of votes that today is using and parading himself as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria"

The Adamawa Northern stakeholder is worried that the anti-party activities of Senator Abbo are becoming more worrisome to the extent of affecting the political arithmetic of the zone and the chances of APC winning the election.

He revealed that the electorates in the area are already having the feeling of not having a candidate in APC and they rather go for any other party to make their voice count and vent their anger that will stop Abbo from winning the election.

"I want to authoritatively tell you that Mubi is the stronghold of APC but with what Abbo is doing a chunk of the votes will be deflected in favor of parties whose logos are hardly known in the state.

"APC will be virtually left with nothing because Cliff has discredited himself and is on the verge of killing the party if something urgent is not done.

" This is a zone control and owned by APC, a zone in search of a credible candid. Right from the onset, one of the reasons why Dr. Belel is out for the seat is because there is no anyone good thereby having the ticket by APC.

"The party, therefore, has to call Senator Abbo into order or seize his membership card of the party. If he is not going with the party's collective agenda, and interest there is no way for the party leaders to allow anti-party to continue to thrive, it will do more harm than good.

" His behaviors are bad, going unchecked to the detriment of the party. The parents-party should withdraw his membership due to his unrepentant anti-party activities because the party is at liberty to do that.

"Abbo called Kashim a thief and a desperate politician who have stolen the mandate of the Christians, going to the extent of releasing old pictures with Catholic Bishops as proof of his endorsements of Christians to the mobilization of fake Bishops are unguided words that will consume him at the end of the political game in 2023," Digil added

Digil continued to say that Abbo's unwarranted outburst has nosedived and has snowballed him into an unfortunate politician that his enemies will be Chasing to Golgotha for political crucifixion.

Politics / Senatorial Aspirants Press Disqualification Of Adamawa Speaker by TGNEWS(m): 12:50am On Nov 04, 2022
.....Allege False Declaration of Age

A lawsuit before Justice Abdulaziz Anka of the Federal High Court, Yola, Northeast Nigeria, have alleged that the Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Rt Hon Iya Abbas, falsified his declaration of age contrary to section 29 of the Electoral Act.

In one of the exhibits presented to the honourable court, Hon. Abbas purportedly deposed to an affidavit in 2011 whereas he hsd died 13 years earlier.

The lead counsel to the plaintiffs, Abdulhamid Mohammed (SAN), in a counter affidavit before Justice Anka held that Abbas falsified documents and affidavits in 2011 and subsequently forwarded them to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

"Our case is within a narrow scope, in 2011 he swore an affidavit and said his father deposed to that affidavit, subsequently he presented those documents alongside the INEC's forms, saying that his age is in a particular bracket. We looked at the date of the affidavit and as of then, his father was already late for about 13 years."

Mohammed Murtala Chubado and Honourable Ibrahim BabaYola Mustapha (Baba 10), both plaintiffs in the suit, are challenging Hon. Abbas as the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Abbas allegedly gained the PDP ticket through massive electoral irregularities in the recent primary election.

Abdulhamid said three lawsuits were filed against Hon. Abbas, namely FHC/YL/CS/09/2022, FHC/YL/CS/08//2022, and FHC/YL/CS/20//2022.

The Senior Advocate (SAN) who put up a spirited defence for Murtala and Hon Ibrahim said two out of the three cases dealt with the conduct of the PDP primary election of the central Senatorial zone, which, he said, was characterised by irregularities.

He argued that there were two different delegate lists, and in all of them the lists came and voted, no nobody was sick and that informed his curiosity to query the authenticity of the lists.

"There are three suits, the first two are dealing with primary conduct of the election while the other one is dealing with falsification of documents.

"We want the court to go to all-round exhibits and determine by the Electoral Act and party guidelines whether there were guaranteed primaries.

" We are praying that the court will disqualify him if it finds out that he falsified his documents contrary to sections 29 subsection 5 of the said act, set aside the election, and prohibit him from coming around to campaign and cease to be the PDP candidate.

"So both the party and the candidate will be prohibited from fielding that candidate because of the consequences of giving false information," Abdulhamid said.

He went on: "The position of the law under Section 29 of the Electoral Act if a candidate you contested with on the same party platform presented documents to INEC and those documents turn out to be false or he presented false documents to the electoral body you have the right to come to court and challenge the falsification of that information.

"How will he say that in 2011 the same person that was late 13 years ago is the same person who deposed to an affidavit of his declaration of age? How will the electoral body and the eye of the law take that kind of document?

"He also annexed two documents from his political party and called them his membership card which has different numbers on those forms? This is clearly false information for which we filed a suit against him."

The plaintiffs' defence counsel said the defendants (Iya Abbas, Adamawa PDP, and INEC) have failed to put up convincing arguments. Rather, they are going around his counter affidavit with no substitute.

"When they filed a counter affidavit and their defence to the suit, they are more or less restating what we say, busy giving baseless excuses.

"I informed the court today they ought to have come with other documents different from ours, not to go around our documents and start telling stories. They didn't say anything to contradict what we have already stated in our suit.

"They would have come with a different defence, which they have not done. The party they have sponsored did not file any counter to challenge what we are saying in our process.

"We are now asking the court to disqualify him and give us judgement so that he can't participate in any election."

Abdulhamid said he is confident and very hopeful of success because the exhibits and facts presented before the honourable court are zgood enough to make his clients get a favourable judgement.

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister Hyacinth Shabbo Tersoo, said that PDP complied with the guidelines of the Electoral Act during the primaries and that his client emerged as a winner.

Responding to journalists in Yola, Tersoo said they have attacked the case by putting forward substantial augments if one looks at the claims brought to the court by the plaintiffs.

He held that the court will never grant the plaintiff's prayers even if the court answers their prayers in any way.

"Unfortunately, I was involved in all three cases and I know the substance of the cases. As to whether our client breached the law is left to the court to decide; we have put forward our defence.

"Anyway, the ultimate decision at the end of the day is that of the court. We are confident in our argument that our client will be free and not wanting in any case," Tersoo said.

Justice Abdulaziz Anka reserved December 3, 2022, or earlier for the judgement.

Politics / Give Me Your 2nd Mandate, Hon Lawal Garba Urges Adamawa Constituents by TGNEWS(m): 3:24pm On Oct 21, 2022

....says he remains the best candidate to bring more development to the constituency

By Tom Garba,Yola

Competence, experience, and abilities are some of the key requisite knowledge a Lawmaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should garner to represent well in the national assembly.

An erstwhile Lawmaker who has represented the People of Yola North, Yola South, and Girei Federal Constituency of Adamawa State, Honourable Lawal Garba made a passionate call to his constituents to consider a candidate with the needed experience to represent them in 2023.

Lawal who is a Lawyer by profession from 2015 to 2019 was considered to give an excellent representation to the people of Adamawa under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and urged them not to collect money in exchange for better representation as the result has a far-reaching devastating effect.

Lawal is currently the Flag bearer of the New Nigeria people's party (NNPP) hoping to go back to the National Assembly as the ranking member said continuity in legislative duties is the key in stabilizing Democracy and bringing development, growth to constituents.

He enjoined them not to allow themselves to be fooled by money bags politicians who will but up their destinies, but they should interrogate and do a background check on them to ascertain their credibility to represent them.

While given a scorecard of his last four years of stewardship, Garba said he has a verifiable record of the people he facilitated jobs in FIRS, CBN, Customs, immigration, Printing and minting, police, Military, and many ministries, board, and parastatals of the federal government.

He however said his bills, laws, and resolutions in the national assembly stand out as one of the joy and peace he have whenever he remembers.

According to him one of the bills he revived on the establishment of police trust funds that was laying fallow for years and as a Chairman House committee on police affairs he made sure that the bill was passed to law and accented by Mr. President.

"I feel happy today that the bill will enable them to save money for intervention, for security purposes that will make them buy a lot of their equipment, to rehabilitate their barracks and built more is something that is making me happy because I did that in good fate.

" In my constituency, I was able to build about six health clinics and three computer centers that one of which will soon be commissioned at Army Barracks in Yola despite being out of the house, my ability and competence are giving me the credibility to still work for my people.

"Sir, I have done projects that touched the lives of many people, and I lobbied for employment for them. This gives me peace, at least I have done that to the best of my ability and if given the chance I can do more than that." Garba said

Barrister Garba who granted an interview to our correspondent in his Abuja residence emphasized that the foundation of lawmaking is on three things, which are the ability to sponsor bills, to sponsor motions (the process of lawmaking), representation, and do a lot of oversight functions-Check mating the executives.

And all these according to him connote a lawmaker having one on one with his constituents, sitting down with them to hear, know and listen to their needs, and convey them to the National Assembly for debate.

He stressed that the entire work of legislation is huge and needs someone with vast experience to go there and defend his people.

He called on the People of Girei, Yola North, and Yola South to see him as the best for the job because as a one time their representative, and a Lawyer by profession who bagged a Master's degree in law with his Ph.D. in view that will soon be ready, he assures them of an excellent job if they give him their mandate again in 2023.

"With my experience and my background I stand the best, I left it for our Constituents to put the imaginary scale to get the best among us , which I hope I should be favored over all the contestants." He said

He revealed that the 2023 general elections will be based and centered on who is in which party, it's not about the party it's about the candidate.

He called on his constituents to consider NNPP and vote for him because he has a record and a deal of good representation in the past with them.

He said his record in the past is what will make him win the election not because is in NNPP but because the people know that he represented well.

Nairaland / General / Sen Yaroe Gives Free Medical Treatments To Over 600 Constituents by TGNEWS(m): 7:10pm On Oct 18, 2022
By Tom Garba, Yola

Over 600 residents of Kiri community in Shelleng LGA of Adamawa State have benefitted from the Free Medical Outreach provided by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, Senator representing Adamawa South Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

The inhabitants of Kiri, who trooped in large numbers to Kiri Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) on Monday, received free medical services ranging from surgeries, USS (scan), laboratory test, medications, medical consultations among others.

This kind gesture by Senator Binos was described as one of its kinds by the people of Kiri, which enhanced their wellbeing as smiles were placed on their faces for reaping the dividends of democracy and tasting the sweet fruits of good governance and representation.
Speaking to journalists shortly after inspecting the exercise, Senator Binos Yaroe, pointed out that wellbeing of the people is one of his topmost priorities, noting that people would only be useful to themselves, their families and the society when they are healthy.

He stated that he would leave no stone unturned to ensuring the livelihoods of the people of Adamawa South are improved by enhancing their wellbeing and providing free medical services.

Senator Binos said that the free medical outreach is part of his quest to fulfilling the promises he made to the Adamawa South people, adding that it would be unfair for him not to bring the health services to the doorsteps of the residents of Kiri having held similar outreach in Shelleng sometime ago.

The Senator used the medium to respond to the allegation by some politicians from the opposition political parties who spread falsehood that the medical outreach was budgeted.
In his words, "I want to state here categorically that this free medical outreach that I've embarked is entirely my initiation and I've been using my funds for the services for the good people of my district.

"I heard someone saying that the medical outreach was in the budget. That's falsehood. This free medical outreach was not budgeted. The only medical outreach that was budgeted was the one we did in Shelleng. Apart from that one, all the free medical outreaches that I've done across the nine local government areas of my district is entirely my initiation and I've been using my funds.

"Some people want to emulate and copy my free medical outreach initiation by coming up by their own, but they stopped halfway because they could not cope. They did it once or twice and stopped.
"But mine is unique because I know the value of the wellbeing of my people, which is why it becomes a continuous programme. Health issue isn't something that you will do once and stop. It's a continuous programme because the health status of people matter".

Senator Binos called on the people of Kiri community and Shelleng LGA as a whole to rally round the Fintiri-led Administration to enable it provide more dividends of democracy and providing fresh-air for them to breath as they keep their PVCs handy for the fast approaching 2023 General Elections.

He stated, "If you vote for the PDP at the national level, it will be easier for me to provide more of these people-oriented programmes. As at now, I can't be able to do everything because I'm from the opposition party. But if we have PDP President and PDP Governor, and you also vote for me, development will flow smoothly for the benefit of all.

Also speaking, the Head of the Medical Team, Dr Jama Medan, disclosed that no fewer than 600 residents of Kiri benefited from the Free Medical Outreach with over 10 surgeries carried out successful using the Mobile Hospital.

Among the beneficiaries was Mal.

Ahmed Farouk who was successfully operated and went home a healthy man.
In an interaction with pressmen, Farouk said that he was suffering from hyenia for two years with no money to go to hospital for treatment, but here he found himself being treated free-of-charge; courtesy of Senator Binos Yaroe.

He said, "They did the surgery free for me, I did not pay any kobo. I want to use this opportunity to thank Senator Binos for coming for my rescue. May God grant him the desires of his heart".

A five-year-old Elisha Thomas had been suffering from birth with a strange disease, but the Binos Medical Team had succeeded in making the lucky boy healthy after a successful surgery on his private part.

His mother, Mrs Elisabatu Thomas, told newsmen that Elisha suffered with the illness from birth, but she could not believe her eyes that her son was a free child.

In her words, "I lack words to thank Senator Binos for the joy he has brought to my family. My son is now healthy. I want to assure Senator Binos that our votes in Kiri is for the PDP".

The Medical Team led by Dr Jama Medan visited the residence of the District Head of Kiri for homage and the traditional leader was also examined and given free medical drugs.

Politics / Tahir In 2023: My Thoughts On The Best Man To Be In Adamawa Govt House by TGNEWS(m): 4:39pm On Oct 09, 2022
God's willing this 2022 has put all politicians and concerned Adamawa people on the "on your marks, get set, ready go" of the journey that will certainly end them to running political race in the coming 2023 for the Dougeri Government House Yola. They are all hoping, anxiously dreaming of good leaders that will take charge of the State's affairs.

For me I feel, see, and think many eminent sons and daughters of Adamawa are most qualified to lead the state out of the brook of galloping administration with nothing inclining to human-capital development.

In Adamawa state today, there has been a golden and silence achiever worthy of note. This Man in all strata of life have make a bench Mark name in oil and gas. Till he left Nigeria National petroleum corporations his name is still ringing bell as erudite professional Mechanical Engineer and a leader manager who served the multi national corporation with great impetus of practical achievements.

Engineer Tahir Hussaini Sulaiman has it all, to give it all to Adamawa people. Tahir, you are the point of my prayers, I will pray (wait) until my prayers are answered. We are in search of a Governor and now we find one in you. Your indelible records of great ideas while the group general manager, renewable Energy division of the NNPC where you served for twenty three years (September 1991-February 2015) even the blind can attest that you were a progressive Man.

Tahir, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) (1976-1977) in Mechanical Engineer (B.Eng, Mech), and a Fellow of FNSE, FNIMechE was a predestinated child of Destiny whose talent, gifts and passion to serve humanity is driving home right from his childhood when over three decades ago.

Sulaiman is a well experienced Man haven visited Countries like USA, UK, Italy, Germany, France, Holland,

Cameroon, Ethiopia, Angola, South Africa, Dubai, Qatar, Saudi Arabia development himself on leadership courses around the world. This is to say he is a no doubt a Man well fit, most qualified and has all what it takes to serve the people of Adamawa as their next coming Governor.

Called him a philanthropist and a humanitarian who is living because he want to touch life for God's purpose. A close looking at Hussaini Tahir's perception of politics and leadership roles in the service to humanity.

The 2023 general elections is better to say that Adamawa will be saved if it is placed in the hands of people like Tahir. To be the executive Governor of the state in the interest of salvaging, liberating them from the crutches of underdevelopment.

Many have called him and gave him a platform in Action Alliance (AA) to run in defence of the people. They see him an emancipator of the masses. A fearless and focused leader who can dare the impossible to set the rescue agenda in motion for wealth creation, revamped health, massive employment through the introduction of jobs creation schemes, the State's education will no doubt get a boost under the leadership style of Hussaini.

From 1978 to 1991 when the Military under the Ibrahim Badamasi Babaginda regime are in power, the name Hussaini rang bells in the defunct Gongola state (Taraba, Adamawa) when he was employed as Pupil Mechanical Engineer

Production Sharing Contract Agreements respectively. He was transferred to NPDC Benin as Supply Chain Manager in July, 2007. He was transferred back to NAPIMS December, 2008 as Manager Materials Management Department.
Promoted as General Manager Materials Management Division NAPIMS July, 2009.

Promoted to the position of Group General Manager (GGM) Renewable Energy Division in November 2012. Retired in 2015 with achievements accredited to his of a great leader whose leadership strides traversed to all sectors of NNPP. The roles he played in defunct Gongola state, Adamawa state and NNPC are printed in the oceans not even the sands of times.

The Adamawa ideal Governor is now in active private businesses of Consultancy and Farming with a passion to philanthropic in many communities across Northern Nigeria.

The Name of Hussaini is ringing a louder bell now for his selfless service to Man Kind. Because of this Lamido of Adamawa has graciously honoured him with the Santuraki Adamawa Tittle, a title that is giving is a touch of a household name, a heavy-weight now luminary in the state political scene.

Since then I glued to this Man's style of politics, his views, and his disposition to leadership roles conform to the eternal standard, which stands as his golden rule of life success.

Tahir distinguishes and reserved himself to politics of ideology by maintaining a self-imposed principle of not joining the crowd, remaining a party Man in opposition for years that journeyed him to the present political status in his lifetime. He believe in the dream of greater Nigeria, this his dream is translating to having a dream of a greater Adamawa state. He holds a conviction that Nigeria will continues to take massive steps into globalization and auspiciously participate in the international arena of human development and economic growth, having the belief that it is a promising journey to emancipation but demands public responsibility, hard work, dedication to nation building, sympathy
to our regional and religious diversity and commitment to the continuity of our dear Nation.

A good leader who involves in making sound and sometimes difficult decisions, creating and articulating a clear vision, establishing achievable goals, and providing followers with the knowledge and tools necessary to achieve those goals in his current position. This is the Tahir I see over the years with multiple records of done deals, records of achievements in all the political and public offices he occupied.

Sticking to his vision Hussaini has a transformational journey of his political life and briefly stayed in PDP, now has Action Alliance (AA) as the party that will path find and navigate the narrow paths of backwardness for the state.

The Distance of thousands of miles covered by this Man was a journey characterized by political turbulence, perseverance, patience, consistency, and hard work. The tenacity to hold on and the villain's attitude to never give up on his conviction of "I can get there", the fate to have gotten a path with certainty to take and lead him to his destiny was what must have taken him to where he is today.

This Adamawa-born level headed and down-to-earth, Man stands tall to do what's right, planting his feet in the sands of time to be remembered for shaping the country for the better.

God's willing this 2023 has put all politicians and concerned Nigerians on the "on your marks, get set, ready go" of the journey that will certainly end running a political race in the coming 2023.

For Hussaini I see another good Man, I see another Nigerian who is without bias of all sort, I see another Nigerian who is a good politician whose experience was born out of many years of learning to ride the horse of glory, in Tahir I also see Adamawa becoming better, in him I see Nigeria is truly bearing the country of our Father's land where unity, peace, development and justice shall reign.

I'm so privileged to have interacted with him on a few exceptional occasions, the rapt attention accorded me convinced me to see the humility in him as a good virtue of leadership, I see him with the listening ear syndrome. Tahir listens before he talks, he utters a few words and gives one the floor for conversations while he listens.

Tahir always fascinates me with his "Yes I will" response, and "no I will in the affirmation that always turns out to be his YES is YES, and his NO is NO. This is probably one of the politicians whose words are bankable and can be bought at a very high value of integrity and standard at whatever time. He does not mix his words to impress or to cajole a fellow human being. I see and learn what others will say about the "power of the dead and life is in the tongue." It is in this Man I'm learning a man's image is laying in the tiny mighty tongue under the roof of his mouth. Sir, I respect your good communication skills in you.

As the people of Adaamawa pray for the progress, growth, and unity of the nation counting down to the 2023 elections, I pray the Will of God prevails by giving us leaders after His own heart, leaders who possess the characters of heavenly mandate, people who desire to see Nigeria better than it is. People like Tahir whose love for humanity is a flame burning the inside of them to better the our dear state, Adamawa with their good leadership qualities.

For me I feel, see, and think Hussaini Tahir has it all, to give it all to all Nigerians, to the people of Adamawa state. He is the best, the preferred and the servant-leader that every person in Adamawa should support to lead the people in dare need of good leaders.

Sir, Tahir you are the point of my prayers, I will pray (wait) until my prayers are answered for the sake of our people in Adamawa state.

God bless Nigeria!
God bless Adamawa state!!

Politics / Muslim-Muslim Ticket: APC expels Senator Abbo For Criticising Tinubu On AIT by TGNEWS(m): 6:23pm On Oct 07, 2022
The lawmaker representing Adamawa North, Senator Elisha Abbo, has been expelled by the executives of his local government chapter of the All Progressives Congress for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities and tampering with the process of internal democracy of the party.

The controversial senator, who has remained one of the vociferous dissenting voices against the ruling party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket, was axed for criticising the APC presidential flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, on a national television.

This was disclosed in his expulsion letter, which was signed on Friday by 13 members of the state executives and made available to The PUNCH.

Rising from its meeting on Friday, the excos of Mubi North Local Government Area stated that they had reviewed among other things the report of the disciplinary committee before taking the decision to expel him.

The statement read, “The committee is conscious of its responsibility and expectation of the party members and determine that free, fair and credible process have been adapted particularly adequate fair hearing has been accorded to the senator under reference.

“Consequently, 29 members of the committee have approved the report of the disciplinary committee dated 5th day of October, 2022. Wherefore, expelled Senator Elisha Ishiyahu Abbo, based on the Interview granted on the AIT where he was condemning and criticising the Party presidential flag

“The Executive Committee Members of All Progressive Congress, Mubi North, Adamawa State who appended their signature approving the report of the Disciplinary Committee expelling Senator Ishiyaku Elisha Abbo, senator representing Adamawa State is hereunder list.”

When contacted on Friday evening, the APC Publicity Secretary for Adamawa State chapter of the APC, Mohammed Abdullahi, told our correspondent that the matter has not been officially brought to their notice.

Abdullahi, who expressed concerns about the development, noted that much as the Ward executives can suspend any erring member, it has no locum standi to expel anyone.

He said, “As far as the state secretariat is concerned, we have not received any correspondence from his local government. From what I read, Senator Abbo was even expelled and not suspended as some people speculated.

“If the report is submitted, we have a duty to scrutinize what they are doing in accordance with the provision of the party Constitution. This is because we know by the APC Constitution; it is only the National Working Committee that can expel somebody.

“They can only recommend, not expel. It is not within their power to expel anybody. They can suspend but not expel members. Even the suspension has to follow due process. If it contradicts the party constitution, it won’t stand.”

The embattled senator has been in the eye of the storm over his involvement in alleged anti-party activities along with some Christian leaders.

Abbo had resigned from Tinubu Support Organisation on July 11 following the nomination of Senator Kashim Shettima as vice presidential candidate.

The controversial lawmaker had claimed that his conscience won’t allow him to campaign openly for Tinubu and his running mate over the contentious Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Similarly on July 29, Abbo and some Northern Christian leaders of the ruling party had called on Nigerians not to vote for any ticket that was not mixed between Christians and Muslims during the 2023 elections.

A day after their outrage, the Adamawa senator was among a delegation of aggrieved lawmakers who backed the move to impeach the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

Senators of the Peoples Democratic Party and some members of the opposition had staged a walk out on the Senate plenary session.

The senators left the plenary over the refusal of the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan to discuss Buhari’s impeachment and a notice served to the president.

They also gave Buhari six weeks to resolve the insecurity crisis in the country or they would be forced to impeach him.
