Someone with experience or more knowledge should please respond to the OP. Let's learn.
FamilyRe: My Mum Wants Me To Attend Every Occasion by ThaThinka: 3:00pm On Jun 02

It's not just about parties...and the law of reciprocity is very much in effect. A single tree won't make a forest.
Understood. But I thought the focus here were social parties. 🤨
FamilyRe: My Mum Wants Me To Attend Every Occasion by ThaThinka: 9:52pm On Jun 01
laivwire:
She's right. Wait until you have a party and see if anyone will attend. It's like you haven't seen people begging strangers to come full seats at their parties.

It's only when you attend people's event that they turn up at yours. If not, they will collect your IV but won't come for your party. That's why even if you attend someone's party late or didn't participate much, you still go and greet the celebrant and their parents to show that you indeed attended. Do for them, they do for you
The bold section sounds ridiculous! In this economy? Who even send them to do party?

I'm not a party person either and I don't bank on reciprocity, especially in matters of this nature. Who party help? undecided

Many Africans just like to major on minor matters. Na parties go open the gate of heaven to the dead or make a marriage a successful one? Some people just won't cease to amaze - in a foolish way. Some will even incur debts to organise these parties and later turn around to complain that people did not gift them. 🤨

As I dey like this, if I can avoid having to organise or be the focus of a party, I will gladly do that. It's one of the (lesser) reasons this young old man isn't married yet. cool
FamilyRe: Annoying Things My Uncle's Wife Does As A Content Creator by ThaThinka: 10:38pm On May 21
This is one of the reasons I don't consider such ladies for anything serious.

I am a very private person and move without drawing too much attention to myself. I don't think I can endure a woman who publicises practically everything with strangers online.

Regarding planting these things, shebi na pesin wey get land go do that.

I feel drawn to things like planting and cultivating land, mainly due to nostalgia. But I can't dare go into the bush for farming with all the insecurity in the country. If God blesses man with better money, I can do residential farming sha.

I'm aware of that, we're always jumping on the trending ones while common bitter cola can cure a whole lot of ailments if properly processed and packaged.
I believe you know how the price of that "common" bitter kola has also skyrocketed. The last I heard, one "seed" was being sold for like N200-300.

If looks were all it takes, it's definitely the No. 1 couple. They're both being responsible or putting in the effort while the husband also provides protection, as the man.

You were happier doing farming with less money because your mind was at peace.
Money that comes with constant fear is not sustainable.
You’re not weak—you’re reacting to something your mind is not comfortable with yet. The goal is to either:
Train your mind gradually
or
Choose a path that aligns better with you

Good afternoon.

How do one engage in this writing stuff to get something out of it?

I love writing so much.
I'm afraid, you arrived a little late. AI (think ChatGPT) has greatly reduced opportunities in that niche. Personally, I don't do writing gigs anymore.
InvestmentRe: Where Did Stanbic IBTC Pension Get My Email Address? by ThaThinka(op): 7:20am On Mar 30
MarkNsukkaBread:
I think there's a type of software called email extractor which some marketing agencies use to get the email addresses of people on LinkedIn even if it's not shown publicly on their profile page
Thanks.

Yeah, I was aware of email extractors. But I think those are ideally for marketing purposes (cold emailing). In this case, the email was not for marketing purpose.

What I don't fully understand was the decision to completely ignore the email address I provided and opt for one I never provided in any communication or documentation with them. Feels sneaky.
InvestmentRe: Where Did Stanbic IBTC Pension Get My Email Address? by ThaThinka(op): 10:27pm On Mar 29
Stephen0mozzy:
No cause for alarm sha. It's just harmless marketing. But of course follow all recommended digital security best practices - Two Factor Authentication across your different sensitive apps
There's a cause for alarm for me, even though I don't engage in anything illegal. It was not "just harmless marketing" but a welcome email I should have received via the correct email address I provided to them. If it were an ordinary marketing email, I would have easily dismissed it.

This incident just doesn't make sense to me: How do you associate an email address I never provided to you to my account and ignore the one I provided completely?

It makes me feel somewhat like I was being spied on and someone is using information I never authorised access or use. I mean this email is not even linked to my BVN.

Thanks for your time, though.
InvestmentRe: Where Did Stanbic IBTC Pension Get My Email Address? by ThaThinka(op): 9:14pm On Mar 29
Stephen0mozzy:
Can't say with certainty where they got that "personal" email - but if you've used that email on anything online before, it's possible that the platform sold your data to data brokers (hidden inside their terms and conditions is that they can do this); then people who buy this data cache can use it for things like targeted marketing.

Just one possible scenario.

Or this "private" email is linked to your bvn/nin.
Thanks for your response.

The email address is not even linked to any Nigerian bank directly, let alone to BVN. I chose to not associate it with anything Nigerian. I can only remember contacting hosting companies in Nigeria with it plus used it for a couple of agro crowdfunding platforms - all several years ago.

Something in mind was suggesting LinkedIn as the possible source. But I don't think I displayed my email address publicly there because I don't usually do that. That's why I was confused.
InvestmentWhere Did Stanbic IBTC Pension Get My Email Address? by ThaThinka(op): 7:38pm On Mar 29
Please I need some opinion on something regarding Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers.

I opened an account with them a couple of weeks back. I have not received any direct correspondence from them regarding my registration - either through the email address or phone number that I provided during registration - until now.

Instead, they sent a welcome email to an email address that I never provided to them. I don't use this address for local transactions or registrations; it's exclusively for online transactions with foreign companies, including PayPal. I don't pay with my local cards either, both on PayPal or anywhere else.

I even searched the inbox of the email address I was contacted through to see if I ever had any direct correspondence with Stanbic IBTC (bank or PFA). Found nothing.

Could anyone give me an idea of how they got this email address they contacted me through? I feel like someone has been snooping.
RomanceRe: Can One Live A Happy And Fulfilled Life Without Friends? by ThaThinka: 6:37pm On Mar 12
I don't know how old you're. But, given my journey so far in life, I will ask you to keep what good friends you have...if you're lucky to have. Don't be desperate about it, though.

That's coming from someone who cannot beat his chest about having any VERY close friend - the type you can be confident enough to discuss your life's plans with. However, I believe having dependable people in your life may make it easier.

Let your interest be more in the quality of friends, not the quantity. If it's only one reliable friend you have, that's a lot better than 10 friends that you don't feel can be trusted.

I think having a purpose is more central to living a happy life than seeking friends. One can even meet great people in the course of fulfilling that purpose. Finding out that purpose may not be the easiest of things, though.

FamilyRe: Men That Married A Lady Without Skill Or Education , Share Your Experience by ThaThinka: 10:42pm On Feb 05
themountain:
I am currently in a logjam. Feel like I am trapped. I am married for a year now. She is a graduate, but without any skill or job. I have told her to look for for a job, perhaps in a supermarket to support herself, but she keeps saying she can't do that kind of work. She is too big for that kind of work.

She has tried different kind of business which she has failed in. Last year she wasted about 300k of my money without any result.

She is currently doing POS, and I still give her transport to go for the business, yet no profit.

I currently feel trapped. I have not been able to achieve anything since I married her.
Please try to exercise some patience with her, even though I don't have experience relating with a wife. It appears she's, at least, willing to do something.

We can make efforts but God ultimately determines success.

This is not software issue, to solve it, find phone engineer to disconnect the volume flex or remove it totally, come back and post the results
Okay, thanks.

But with what I saw the last time, I don't feel so optimistic going back to those guys.

Those guys were too destructive and probably clueless. You needed to see how the main guy was tearing the protective material that covered the phone's battery, which has no issue at all. I was just thinking to myself: how's this going to solve the issue? cheesy

If I may ask, what should happen if the volume flex is removed or disconnected?

At where, please?

I already stated that a phone repairer I took it to could not fix it. He even took it to a nearby colleague since there were many of them in the area. And, of course, they had computers there that they use for work.

😮😮 Sorry about that, but I didn't see any missed call. Maybe we should have planned ahead of time.
Strange. The phone rang about two times and it suddenly stopped, with the "caller you're calling is busy" kind of voice message. That usually happens when the other person reject a call.

Of course, I wanted to ask you about two hours ahead of time then because I was targeting around 1pm.

Yes, it's still available. Yes, I am the owner, I am currently using it as one of my back up phone's. It's working perfectly, except what I said earlier in the ad about the slight scratch on the screen protector, which is not affecting the phone in any way. I bought new battery recently,so there won't be any issue with battery.

Yes,it supports Whatsapp,and even telegram. It's Android version 9.
Called you around 11 am but you "busied" the call. I was coming around that area at the time.

Flashing

Thanks. But I am not sure flashing will resolve this. The bootloop in recovery mode won't even let a PC fully load the phone.

I already took it to a phone repairer around here. He had no idea. And I believe he should know about flashing.
PhonesWhat Can I Do To Oppo F5 Stuck In Recovery Mode Bootloop? by ThaThinka(op): 9:07am On Jan 14
I got this "foreign used" Oppo F5 phone that came with malware which got my WhatsApp hacked. The phone was intended for WhatsApp use. Therefore, I tried to update the firmware to the latest version via the recovery mode in an attempt to get rid of the malware.

The update was successful and I then clicked on "Reboot." But instead of booting normally, the phone showed a message that storage was damaged - even though I never saw such a message before then. So, I restarted the phone. That's how it started bootlooping to recovery mode without success.

Once it gets to the Oppo "powered by Android" screen, it will go off and restart again endlessly. I have to press all buttons together to power it off. (The text at the bottom-left of the screen is "Recovery Mode"wink.

Does anyone have an idea of anything that can be done to resolve this, please?

PhonesRe: Itel A56 For Sale. Price 15k....SOLD!!! by ThaThinka: 8:55am On Jan 14
If this is still available, please I wish to know more about it. Are you the original owner of the device? Is there anything else I need to know about it?

Just thinking of dedicating this solely to "distractions," primarily WhatsApp. I assume it still supports WhatsApp from the images.

The stamp duty was renamed EMTL and was paid by the receiver.
EMTL has now been renamed again to Stamp duty and will be paid by the sender and not the receiver.
Yeah, later communications from banks clarified the matter.
