Ajise bi Oyo... See more pictures of the demolished here https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/08/illegal-structures-oyo-govt-talks-tough.html |
Five shops and relaxation pub were on Thursday demolished while a filling station was sealed by the Oyo State Government for violating the environmental law on building regulations and failure to carry out the weekly sanitation exercise. The filling station at Orita Challenge in Ibadan was sealed for accommodating a filthy drainage lane which environmental officers alleged exposed residents to varying degrees of environmental hazards. According to the Director of Engineering and Beautification, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Engr. Moshood Adeola who led the enforcement team during the weekly environmental sanitation exercise at Orita Challenge in Ibadan, the government would not relent in enforcing the best environmental culture in the people for the sake of good living. The disobedience of the shop owners to vacate the premises, being a set back for the road led to this demolition. Despite the abatement notices served on them for more than six months to vacate the premises as the continued existence of the illegal structures constituted an environmental nuisance, they did not yield and we have to come and pull the structures down. "Their offences range from noise and air pollution, evidence of open defecation accommodating illicit drug users within the environment and that is why those shops were pulled down. "Despite the effort of Oyo State Government in maintaining a suitable and sustainable environment for all and sundry some people still go ahead engaging in street trading and non-adherence to environmental laws. "It is on record that this administration will not renounce its stance of zero tolerance on environmental disorderliness" he added Engr. Adeola added that the Government was compelled to partially demolish the structures as a warning, having served the owners series of notices which they failed to comply with within the statutory notice period He reiterated that as soon as the State mobile court is established, anyone caught violating the environmental laws or causing environmental nuisance would be punished accordingly and immediately on being arrested. "We call on those violating environmental laws or constituting a nuisance to the environment to desist from the act else they would face the wrath of the government. The moment State mobile courts go into operation, it will be instant judgement for violators," he said. God bless leaders with right vision... |
These are not shots from Heathrow or Dubai…They are amazing pictures from the Oshodi bus terminal, where Passengers queued up at Terminal Three to buy tickets as if queuing at an airport boarding gate. The Oshodi Transport Interchange, with three terminals, is now open to Lagos residents who want to commute from Oshodi to Lagos Island/CMS, Obalende and Tafawa Balewa Square. Oshodi used to be a transport hub that was not controlled. But an order is now being restored to the area. Thanks to the Lagos State Government that built the edifice. We share some of the amazing photos shot at the Interchange. This is the same old Oshodi transformed! See the transformation below... Whats your take? Will they maintain this edifice? See an overview of this new TinCan Truck park... exclusive pictures https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/08/apapa-gridlock-presidential-task-force.html |
The ongoing reconstruction work on Creek Road and Liverpool Road in Apapa, Lagos, may have compelled the Presidential task force on Apapa gridlock to force the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing to temporarily open the Tin Can Island truck transit park to ease the perennial gridlock along the port access road. It was gathered that the presidential task force managing the Apapa gridlock has directed that the transit park be opened to take trucks off the roads, though the park is yet to be completed and officially handed over to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). The truck park has been under construction for more than ten years. The project has, however, suffered delay despite repeated assurances by the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing that it would be completed in April 2019. It would be recalled that the Managing Director of NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman, had asked that the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing to hand over the Tin Can trailer park to the authority to complete the shoreline protection. In a reported done by Vanguard Newspapers, it was alleged that despite efforts by the government to rid Apapa and its environs of gridlock, the traffic situation particularly on Apapa/Oshodi Expressway, has remained unabated. Why? Because those who have been assigned the role of controlling the expressway that has been completely taken over by truck and tanker drivers without consideration for other roads users have taken the advantage of the gridlock to enrich themselves, hence it is their prayer that the situation lingers in order for them to continue to exploit it. Simply put, it is the exploitation of the gridlock task team officials for pecuniary reasons that is responsible for the aberration everybody plying the ever-busy road is suffering today. According to investigations, it was revealed that the task team officials have converted the sordid situation into a bribe-taking venture. Subsequently, a number of checkpoints have reportedly been set up from the Mile 2 Bridge for the task team officials to extort money from these frustrated truck and tanker drivers. A number of these extortion points have been identified from the Mile 2 Bridge. At these extortion points, task team officials collect between N10,000 and N15,000 from each truck driver to allow them to park around the area. Otto Wolfe bus-stop, inward Apapa, is another point of extortion by these officials. The TinCan Truck Park project is a 350 capacity Truck Park built in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Power Works and Housing and Borini Prono. AutoReportNG got an exclusive image of the overview of the new TinCan Trailer Park in Apapa, we are bringing it back to you. Sequel to the planned partial closure of traffic at the Kara bridge of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the LASTMA, FRSC embark on an assessment of traffic impact of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The planned partial closure of a part of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for reconstruction has been shifted to Monday, August 5. Information gathered on Thursday from the construction firm handling the section one of the road from Lagos to Sagamu Interchange, Julius Berger Nigeria, indicated that reconstruction work might not begin fully until Monday as against the August 3 notice earlier given. This, the source said, was to enable the Federal Government to conclude its sensitisation of leaders of the communities along the axis and other stakeholders to get their buy-in and ensure the smooth execution of the project. The Federal Road Safety Corps had hinted that the construction company had given notification of its plan to commence the reconstruction work on the Berger Bus Stop – Kara Cattle Market end of the road on August 3, and would close some sections for about four months. The LASTMA, FRSC embark on an assessment of the traffic impact of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway today to see things for themselves.. These are some of the photos AutoReportNG.com got for you... Lagos drivers... Over to you Check here to see the list of cameras in Lagos and the fine attached https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/08/there-are-282-cameras-monitoring.html |
Sequel to the story we did earlier in the ANPR camera in Lagos, the VIS head of planning and research has this to say on the VIS cameras in Lagos. Contrary to the stories making the rounds that a camera device located at Alausa Secretariat capturing vehicles with expired fake documents and sending bills to people SMS, an official of Vehicle Institution Service VIS, Lagos State, Engr Olayemi disclosed that there are 282 of such mechanical device installed in many major roads within the metropolis and not in Alausa, Secretariat, Ikeja, alone. He said the device is called Automatic Number Plate Recognition Device (ANPR) or Number Plate Detector for short. According to the Head of Planning and Research of VIS, the device only captures the vehicle's number plate and send it to Motor Vehicle License data bank, Insurance Company data bank and Road Worthiness data bank, from where it detects if these documents are genuine or have expired. When these documents have expired or are fake the device generates a bill and send it to the vehicle's owner phone through SMS. He said for every infringement committed a bill of N20,000 is generated. A person who defaults in all the three documents will get a bill of N60,000.00. He went further to say that the device which he is personally monitoring from his own office has captured 276, 284 vehicles number plate out of which 7,135 owners have been billed fines ranging from N20,000 to N60,000, since December 2018, when they commenced full fledge operation. He confirmed that many prominent Lagosians including commissioners, lawmakers and senior state government officials have been booked and have quietly paid their bills. A vehicle owner who refused to pay the fine within seven days stipulated in the SMS sent to his phone will have his vehicle blacklisted. Meaning the vehicle will be declared wanted. Wherever such a vehicle is caught by the device again, officials of VIS in such area will be instructed to impound the vehicle. He agreed that VIO is back on the road not to check particulars but to arrest rickety vehicles or those with overload which the new device cannot capture. Reporting about construction in Nigeria is one of the very difficult important aspects to be an auto blogger, you need to be careful to verify all claims, pictures and information as others trust you to verify, check and be their eyes. One of such construction is the 2nd Niger Bridge as it has brought some bad tunes among the Eastern folks, they see the work as a charade will not see the light of the day despite the many promises of various administrations, in fact, some see the zone as a rejected zone. Two years ago, the federal government re-activated the construction after past administration started work, the present administration which was handled by the ministry of works spearheaded by Babatunde Fashola met with the firm handling the work that they should continue. Many are of the opinion that nothing has been done, the federal government on its part insists that work is ongoing on this various site. In order not to be distracted by rumours and unnecessary talks, the FG and Julius Berger Nig Plc both set up a live cam and daily update on this site for all to see, watch and verify. AutoReportNG has been seeing pictures, images and videos from this location from different groups but since we can not verify the date, the location and hour, it's hard for our report as many have requested. We are opportune to get some live feeds from the site of this construction. These are aerial feeds from different angles as obtained from the media desk of Julius Berger. Julius Berger is the company in charge of planning, execution and construction of this bridge. These are drone images as captured from the site. It has been said that when this bridge is completed, it will help in the movement of goods and services from the eastern zone of the country to various location thereby reliving the old and stressed Niger Bridge. The Second Niger Bridge is a key national infrastructure, with immense socio-economic benefits for the contiguous states and indeed the entire nation. The scope of works include the construction of 1.6 km long bridge, 10.3 km Highway, Owerri interchange and a toll station. These are pictures obtained courtesy of Julius Berger Nig. LRU... Always on time See LRU other types of equipment and workshop here https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/08/see-moment-sanwo-olu-stormed-lru-office.html |
One thing that is evident of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is that anywhere he gets to, he takes charge and this can be seen when he visited the LRU office on Tuesday. The Lagos State Gov., Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited the LASEMA Response Unit at Cappa-Oshodi and the Command & Control Centre, Alausa on Tuesday during a familiarisation tour of key government agencies, according to him, he was impressed by the great work the agency and its staff are doing. Sanwo-Olu said his administration will continue to provide all the necessary support so that the agency can carry out its mandate in a more efficient and responsive manner. He and his entourage went round to inspect the LRU equipment and also see ways where the state government can come in. These are some of the pictures AutoReportNG got for you. EV cars have some much amazing specs... See the pictorial demostations and more videos here https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/07/honda-es-dual-touchscreen-dashboard.html |
Honda recently posted a new video detailing the dual touchscreen experience in its all-electric Honda e. Honda stresses that this is the dual touchscreen experience found in the Honda e prototype, though the upcoming production version of the EV is believed to be nearly identical to the prototype. The brief video shows how a driver can interact with the widescreen, as the second screen is out of reach for the driver. The demonstration shows a drag and drop function to customize the experience and folders for various settings. A driver can choose to move items on the near screen over to the far screen and back again. The video also gives a glimpse of the car’s navigation, voice assistant, how it visualizes the charging progress, and more. Honda released details about the car’s electric motor earlier this month. In June, Honda released details about the electric car’s battery and platform and mentioned 31,000 have already expressed interest in the EV. In addition, the steering wheel incorporates additional buttons and switches, while the lower area of the center console holds the HDMI and USB ports together with the power outlets. Honda is happy to remind us it has already received about 36,000 “expressions of interest” for the all-electric E, which will be unveiled in production guise later this year. Gone are those ages... See more of this jet, the man and more https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/07/see-first-man-that-first-owe-private.html |
According to a post by Jafaar, a journalist based in Kano State, he gave an in-depth into the man who owes the first private jet in Kano State. According to him, he said, A Kano-based merchant, Mr G.R. Boyd-Carpenter, was arguably the first person to own a plane in Kano in 1928. His De Havilland Cirrus-Moth light plane flew across most Northern parts of Nigeria in the late 20s and early 30s. When Irish female aviator Lady Bailey was flying solo through Africa along the west coast in 1929, she met Boyd-Carpenter and his D.H. Moth at a stopover in Kano as shown in the second picture. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo – Olu has promised to improve on the welfare of the officers of the State Rapid Response squad (RRS) towards ensuring that they discharge their duties effectively and with civility to the people. The Governor made the promise today at the Parade Ground of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos. Sanwo – Olu, at the start off of his working visits to selected state agencies said that Government would direct all government hospitals to give prompt attention to police officers injured in the line of duty. The Governor emphasized that the State Government would clear all outstanding special allowances due to the officers, provide kits for them to effectively combat crime as well as send them on refresher trainings. He noted that his administration would provide additional patrol vehicles for the squad while old ones would be refurbished. “I am aware of the condition of the officers because I get daily reports of your activities”. “I will ensure that I get you new kits but let us raise the bar of policing. The citizens are your customers, let show civility in the ways and manner we go ahead in discharging our duties. The ones that are criminal minded, I am sure you would not shy from taking a decisive action on that but the ones that can be corrected, correct them and show them that we are men of RRS and we are very civil and motivated”. Many people do not know the history of aircraft in Nigeria, while many thought that civilizations starts and end in Lagos, some starts in Nigeria have their fair share of the feat through. According to Jafaar Jafaar, he was able to analyse about the first flight that happened in Bauch in 1928. Three years after the first aircraft landed in Kano, Bauchi people also had their own share of the spectacle in 1928. In preparation for the arrival of the aircraft, an expanse of land was cleared by prisoners to serve as the aerodrome about half a mile from Bauchi. After their long flight from Egypt, the planes made an impressive landing on the hastily improvised aerodrome before a large crowd of native chiefs, spectators and entertainers. The first picture shows the arrival of the second plane, which made the best landing. The second picture shows the Emir of Bauchi Yakubu Usmanu leading other traditional rulers in the province to see one of the aeroplanes immediately after landing. The third picture shows the young Emir of Misau Ahmadu dan Tafida seated in the cockpit of one of the 'planes. The fourth picture shows the chief mechanic of the aircraft, while the fifth and sixth pictures show drummers and entertainers at the grand event. *The Sphere of August 25, 1928, dedicated a full page to feature the event. This is in the right direction... The enmity between LASWA and NIWA is becoming an embarrassment |
The lingering dispute between Lagos State and the Federal Government over the control of waterways has come to a rest, with the signing of an agreement for cooperation by both parties on Monday. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received the officials of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) led by the Managing Director, Sen. Olorunnimbe Mamora, for the ratification of the treaty, which will guarantee a better working relationship between NIWA and Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA). The row over the control of waterways surrounding Lagos started more than 10 years ago between NIWA and LASWA, with both parties locking horns in a protracted legal battle. With the new agreement, both parties will now have a joint responsibility to ensure safety, harmonise tariffs and monitor regulations on the waterways. After signing the agreement, Gov. Sanwo-Olu said the development implied the unlocking of investment in water transportation, which is one of the cardinal projects of his administration. The Governor described the treaty as “right choice” to end the long-drawn-out rift, pointing out that the ceremony was a testimony to the benefits the citizens could gain when agencies of government agree to collaborate. He said: “I congratulate these two agencies of government that have found it right to collaborate. This is one of the progress we have made to promote ease of doing business and as regulators, we must always find a way to close our differences in order to convince investors and the private sector. “Transportation is one of the cardinal objectives of this administration. We have said we have plans to introduce a comprehensive intermodal transportation system, which will cover rail, roads and waterways. A critical component of this objective is what this agreement just enabled for us. It means we are prepared for investors and partners who have shown interest in the partnership on waterway transportation to move our people from one part of the state to another. “We are assuring investors that issues around regulations between these agencies of the state and Federal governments have eased out. Investors don’t have anything to fear again. The safety of people that will be using the ferry services for tourism and leisure is paramount. This is one of the things the agreement has addressed. We can monitor and ensure regulations are followed since both agencies are now in agreement.” Sanwo-Olu said the effort by his government to harness the State’s potential in water tourism had received a boost with the signing of the agreement, saying the treaty had removed impediments preventing the state from tapping investment in water tourism. Mamora said the agreement was signed in good faith and in the best interest of the people, noting that the previous administration in the State prepared the groundwork for collaboration between NIWA and LASWA. The NIWA boss said Sanwo-Olu’s anxiousness to see the end of the dispute led to the agreement, which would result in increased surveillance on waterways, harmony in tariffs and regulations. “We don’t need the court to intervene in ensuring safety on waterways and protecting the rights of our people and avoiding multiple taxations which discourage investors. These are the areas we are partnering on. This agreement shows that we care for our people, particularly the users of the waterways. “This agreement means a better life for our people. What we have signed today will promote a better working relationship and collaboration for the good of our people. Our desire is to see the possibility of settling out of court because this disagreement has been on for over 10 years. The most important thing is that, once we have this understanding, we won’t have issues. Investors, too, would be free to come in, since they know there is no friction and restrictions again.” Also, the LASWA General Manager, Mr Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, expressed optimism that the collaboration would promote safety standards on waterways, adding that it would open up the sector for sustainable development.
