Lagos on the move... |
The operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Agency (Taskforce) have commenced a clampdown on illegal commercial motorcycle operators plying restricted routes including all inner streets across Lagos. The Chairman of the Agency, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi disclosed that the clampdown which started on Wednesday had 125 motorcycles impounded for flouting traffic regulations around Ejigbo and Cele bus-stops. He stated that the Agency was compelled to embark on the crackdown, sequel to a series of complaints received on daily basis from innocent members of the public about criminal activities perpetrated by the illegal commercial motorcycle operators early in the morning and late at night. He said: "We are going to make sure that there is total compliance with the Lagos Traffic Regulations by all commercial motorcycle operators in all our Local Governments and Local Council Council Development Areas as well as by those operating within inner streets". “In accordance with the Traffic Laws, every motorcycle operator must wear crash helmets, be above 18 years, not ride on kerb/median/road-setbacks, avoid restricted routes, not carry more than one passenger/pregnant woman/Adult with baby/Child below 12 years, not install any musical gadgets, must wear an apron, not operate beyond 10pm, operate with a rider's permit and have their motorcycle registered with Government”, he added. According to the Chairman, research conducted by the government revealed that most riders of the illegal commercial motorcycles are not from Nigeria but from neighbouring countries, adding that some of them are also involved in criminal activities in the State. He, therefore, warned all commercial motorcycle operators to ensure that their motorcycles are duly registered with the Government as anyone caught would be seriously dealt with in accordance with the law. While warning the general public, especially motorists to ensure that their valuable items are safely kept while in traffic, the Chairman solicited for the cooperation of all residents in providing useful security information about criminal activities around them to security agencies through the Lagos State free Emergency Toll Lines 112 & 767. All we want is action... See more of the pictures below... https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/08/abuja-kaduna-expressway-nigeria-police.html |

Officers of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) have embarked on an enforcement raid aimed at dislodging and immobilising street traders and hawkers around Iyana-Ipaja, Egbeda and Ikeja. The operation sanctioned by the new Corps Marshall, Akinpelu Gbemisola, a retired Commissioner of Police, was led by Deputy Corps Marshal (Operations), Mr Kazeem Ganiyu and also accompanied by the Deputy Corps Marshal (Staff and Discipline), Alhaji Adeleke Adeesan, traversed the Iyana Ipaja axis of the state. The officers dislodged traders around Dopemu road to Alaagba Garage, Old Iyana-Ipaja road, Iyana-Ipaja roundabout bus stop, Akowonjo road, Egbeda bus stop, Dopemu road inward Lagos Abeokuta Expressway, Ikeja Along bus stop and National bus stop. The operation, which lasted for an hour, covered parts of Iyana-Ipaja, Egbeda and Ikeja, while security backup was provided by the Lagos Taskforce which has entrenched a working synergy with the agency. These defiant readers have been sensitized adequately on the dangers of street trading and hawking but choose to test the will of the government’s Environmental Protection law. The new Corps Marshal of the agency had emphasised on zero tolerance for indiscipline among officers and especially traders that display their wares on the sidewalks, laybacks, drainages, pedestrian bridges and roads. Speaking during the operation, DCM (OPS), Mr Kazeem Ganiyu expressed readiness to combat and stem the tide of street trading in Lagos, while applying a human face of advocacy and warnings before enforcing. He recounted the violent nature of street traders and warned them to do the needful as their time is up, vowing that no effort would be spared in passionately ensuring that the mandate of the agency is protected and not left to ruins. According to LAGESC, "The street traders display their products on the main road thereby inhibiting right of movement of pedestrians, deliberately assaulting passersby with verbal insults and obstructing free flow of traffic for road users. "The traders prefer to engage in wishful thinking as there is no place for that in Lagos. Various street trading apparatus were destroyed and rendered obsolete while goods were seized. As required by law, they have been automatically forfeited and vested in the state. Perishables have since been distributed to motherless babies homes while the non-perishables will be auctioned by the court as at when due which will be published after the agency seeks an auction order. This is routine procedure as no goods whatsoever is returned or returned illegally to any defaulting trader. Arrested street traders have been made to undergo community service to further deter them from this nefarious acts. "The agency remains committed to creating a cleaner environment for Lagosians and will stop at all lawful engagements and acts within the provisions of the law to sensitise and do the needful. "It is also worthy to note that the agency has issued an ultimatum to street traders as they would not have it easy desecrating the environment and blocking drainages with waste incurred from their products. The local government are also advised to stop encouraging street trading by issuing bogus tickets to street traders as it contravenes the law. The agency is empowered to prevent street trading and hawking, and the LGs must fall in line because it will be tantamount to obstructing our jurisdiction and area of engagement," the agency said. Talk of a car in its ambiance and its luxury, a car that commands respect in his league, a car of its own then Lamborghini will top the list. This was designed for the year 2022 when Lamborghini realizes that the Urus needs an overhaul either because it’s selling like hotcakes, or not selling at all, the Agressivo (a concept SUV by Fernando Pastre Fertonani) is, quite simply put, more tastefully Lamborghini-esque. You see, the Urus was a major deviation for Lamborghini, which usually makes cars that aren’t dictated by commercial needs, but rather by a need for speed. Urus, even aesthetically, stuck to the Lamborghini as much as it could but tried to look less aggressive and more road-friendly. The Agressivo SUV does the opposite. You see, an aggressive demeanor doesn’t necessarily make a car look less street-legal or commercial. Agressivo’s demeanor is more in line with Lamborghini’s sportscars, but it comes in the format of an SUV, with wide tires, higher road clearance, and strangely enough, just two doors. The headlights have the same menacing glare that’s expected of Lamborghini’s automobiles, while the edge-lit taillight comes with the signature sideways ‘Y’ shape that’s also become a strong part of Lamborghini’s contemporary DNA. An absence of a grille on the front suggests the Agressivo could be Lamborghini’s first electric SUV and its second electric automobile after the Terzo Millennio concept! See photos of the concept below... Gradually, Lagos port is getting decongested... Read more here https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/08/200-ships-now-berth-in-warri-ports-npa.html |
The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has said that no fewer than 200 vessels now berth in the Warri ports, Delta. This was made known during a Stakeholders Forum held on Monday at the Warri Ports. The forum was at the instance of the visiting Chairman, NPA Board of Directors, Mr Emmanuel Adesoye, who was on an on-the-spot assessment tour of the port facilities. The Managing Director of NPA, Hadiza Usman was represented at the event by Mr Rufai Mohammed. Usman said the development had boost economic activities in Warri and attributed the feat to President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to dredging the escravos channel. She said the Federal Government was committed to improving economic activities in the ports, adding that more dredging was being carried out to accommodate bigger vessels in the Warri ports. “Only the regime of President Buhari has embarked on the dredging of the Warri ports,” Usman said. She, however, appealed to stakeholders including host communities to continue to maintain the existing peace in the area. Responding, Mr Adesoye, who had earlier toured the NPA facilities said there had been a great improvement in the facilities compared to what he observed in 2016 when he last visited the port. According to him, the purpose of the visit is to have an on-the-spot assessment of the progress made by the port since November 2016. “The current challenge is about the issue of dredging the channels in the port, particularly the terminals. “We are already taking action concerning it. So, there is no problem. No time frame, but we are on it,” Adesoye said. He also expressed satisfaction at the improved security situation in the waterways, which according to him had led to more vessels berthing at the port. “The number of ships has increased significantly and revenue has gone up. “That is what happens when there is unity among stakeholders, management and the communities,” he said. However, the stakeholders in their presentations, called for more security to enable them to meet the global practice of 24 hours shipping activities as against the current 6:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m system. It may come slowly but gradually, we seem to be having a road map for the actualization of the Second Niger Bridge. With massive construction going on this site virtually all day, the South-Easterners may sigh of relief at last. According to the latest images made available to AutReportNG, we noticed some latest developments and construction, for example, the Sand fill for toll station area is ongoing, also the road yard 2 (West Approach) is getting a massive sand filling, same goes for the Abutment walls Oko-Amakom Bridge (secondary bridge). One of the major highlights of this construction is the casting station for incremental launching (West Approach), this is where all the casting, molding and other incremental works take place. We also got the aerial view of the pier head working platforms for incremental launching. This is where the bridge will be stationed, the foundation has to be solid in order to keep the bridge standing. So far, the work is moving at an amazing speed base on the images seen from different angles and also from their engineers on site. It should be noted that the Second Niger Bridge is a key national infrastructure, with immense socio-economic benefits for the contiguous states and indeed the entire nation. Upon completion, the bridge will ease traffic flow, improve road safety, and create greater opportunities for local residents by advancing the commercial viability of the immediate area and regenerating economic life. The scope of works includes the construction of 1.6 km long bridge, 10.3 km Highway, Owerri interchange and a toll station. The bridge is estimated to be completed in 42 months (3 and half years) and so far, 26 months seem gone. These are live images from the site as obtained by AutoReportNG. Engines, speed and glamour: fast cars and speedboats have quite a few things in common, the A43 is here to set the same standard on the water as the legendary Lamborghini cars do on land. A43 is a luxury speedboat concept, which can be defined as the perfect fusion of performance and aesthetics. The main objective of this project is to combine a traditional speedboat with sleek, strong characteristics, and high performance that you would expect from a modern supercar. Inspired by Automobili Lamborghini, a company that’s built most revolutionary and timeless supercars in history, A43 translates some of Lamborghini’s design DNA into a speedboat in every way. You can see, some parts like the engine ventilation intake on sides, angular lines, sleek proportions and aggressive styling of the Lamborghini cars are all integrated into the design of the new speedboat concept. Not to mention twin modified aspirated Lamborghini V12’s in the concept’s yellow trimmed exposed carbon fibre edition. The striking exterior lines are as functional as they are visually attractive; the air intakes, the windscreen, the shape of the transom, and inverted bow all contributing to improving this speedboat’s aerodynamics. The standard version of the A43 speedboat concept is equipped with double inboard Mercury 540 engines for efficient power and Caterpillar Three60 Pod Drives for a precise and smooth cruising. A lateral bow thruster fitted near the bow to improve manoeuvrability at lower speeds and while docking. The design maximizes the boat performance with air entrapment tunnels on sides, it is designed to create aerodynamic lift at speed. With such high speeds in reach, the helm area has been designed for occupants to travel fast in comfort. Good thing, this hot rod comes with a GPS speedometer, so you know when to keep your eyes peeled for the Coast Guard. The write-up said re-constructed. Ferry to the rescue.. See more of the crowd and the facilities of this terminal here https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/08/ikorodu-mile-12-road-see-mammoth-crowd.html |
It was reported in the news that the Ikorodu - Mile 12 Road was on total lockdown due to the road construction on this axis. Yesterday was worse for worshippers as they are stuck up in traffic for hours. So as not to see a repeat of what happened yesterday, many thought if Sunday can be this hellish despite few vehicular movements, what will happen on a working day? Many have therefore stormed the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal. The terminal was re-constructed under the Ambode-led administration but Lagosians have refused to use it despite the trip from Ikorodu to Island takes on 30mins, unlike the road that takes 2-3hours all thanks to 3rd Mainland Bridge, traffic among others. Early today, the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal was filled to the brim as people seem to be slowly embracing the water transportation in Lagos. We hope LASWA will step up their game in terms of safety and providing new, fast and affordable boats. Ikorodu to Lagos Island costs 700 naira which we believe is too expensive, this is calling on the Lagos State Government to look into this and half the price if they want people to be using this service. 350-400 naira won't be a bad idea as it takes only 25mins to get to their location. These are pictures from the terminal early this morning as obtained by AutoReportNG Source: https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/08/ikorodu-mile-12-road-see-mammoth-crowd.html |
