According to the religious leaders, they were taking last week’s assurance by Speaker Acho Ihim that the piece of legislation was dead before arrival, with a pinch of salt. Ilechukwu said: “We vehemently oppose the bill by the Imo House of Assembly to establish cattle ranches in the state. "We feel ashamed of that legislature that could not provide a cost benefit analysis of such vicious project before enacting a law to support same." The association reacting to reports of the state's House of Assembly passing a bill to support ranching in the state said the bill was aimed at gaining cheap popularity. The secretary of the Imo CAN, Reverend Eches Divine, said the lawmaker in the House wanted to use the bill to attract a favour.
