empire02: Nop the officer in charge told me insurance is different from group life.
The insurance I recieved was his health insurance the money is just 200k... Whereas the group life insurance according to the officer in charge is above 2m... My dad is a snr police officer...he died while in service.
The officer said I should expect it last year, then I didn't receive anything..now he said this Year , with reason that last year wasn't favourable to fg.... I'm just tired of thier story...
Least, he said after the group life payment, then the will be needing letter of administration administration from me. Oh I see, this arrangement is clearly different from how they run it in civil service commission. Hopefully someone who knows about police service would respond here. |

Misstoluwani: Hello, Pls I need help, My dad died in Dec 2018 and all necessary documents for death benefits has been gathered and submitted by my mum around July 2020. He was in service before 2004, so he falls under the Accrued rights category. Our PFA is NLPC, I will like to know how long it takes for payment to be made. Also I saw people talking about Group life, I need help with how we can go about it if we are entitled to it (My dad did during service, he was an immigration officer). Pls anyone with good and helpful information can help. Thanks Well, payment depends on your batch. Have you been placed on a batch by PENCOM? For the group life, please visit the pension desk office of your dad's workplace, they should put you through. |

yetunsbay: since they are done with deduction in ur acct I assume u can file for application except u prefer waiting for the rest to get a lumpsum I can't file for anything yet because they are still doing reconciliation |
Investment › Re: How Pension Managers Are Cheating Nigerians by Thefarmer3: 1:28pm On Jul 28, 2021 |
yetunsbay: that means currently you can file for the balance in RSA since ur reconciliation is done ? When then are we sure accruals gonna be remitted. What's ur batch ? No I can't because they're not yet done with reconciliation, I learnt it's a process which usually takes a while. If you have the means of checking your RSA balance you must have noticed such in yours as well. Batch 97 |
Investment › Re: How Pension Managers Are Cheating Nigerians by Thefarmer3: 11:22am On Jul 28, 2021 |
yetunsbay: guess no over remittance of Govt share of contribution was paid made to dad after death then.
But wait oo like a case of Thefarmer3, is it that "overpayment" refund will be made first BEFORE crediting with accruals ? I get such case.
Winter12 join put mouth Yes of course, overpayment refund(reconciliation) will be done before crediting with accruals. In fact I just learnt from my PFA that as soon as reconciliation is concluded, we can claim the balance in the RSA even before accruals are paid. And whenever accruals are paid then it can be claimed as "additional benefits" |
Investment › Re: How Pension Managers Are Cheating Nigerians by Thefarmer3: 7:25am On Jul 28, 2021 |
yetunsbay: Good exactly likely the case I once discussed. Have u been paid group life before now ? And the enquiry now is that will they still be making any payment into d RSA after this deduction. Winter12 ! Group life is entirely different, it is been handled by office of head of service of the federation. It's either they pay through insurance companies or they pay from the budget, last I heard they paid was in Dec 2020 when FG released 2.5B for group life backlogs but my family wasn't included for settlement, so we're looking forward to the next one. It's entirely different from PENCOM death benefits Yeah, they would still make payments into his RSA, they still owe his accrued rights cos he has been working for FG before 2004 |
Investment › Re: How Pension Managers Are Cheating Nigerians by Thefarmer3: 2:06am On Jul 28, 2021 |
livewithpurpose: No that was reconciliation that was done by PENCOM. Okay. Please during reconciliation, did they deduct from your dad's RSA balance? I just checked mine now and I noticed a deduction narrated as: FGN CONTR REFUND. I think reconciliation has commenced on our RSA |

yetunsbay: I know of someone on batch 89 whom a refund of an amount fr Contributions was made back to Govt treasury (PenCom) fr his RSA instead of her expecting DB payment.
Now we're both confused sef,is that really the brouhaha....from placing you on batch and so on only to finally return part of ur funds to Govt in the end. Where is now the death benefits or should we even conclude Contributions= DB !
God's willing this week I'll personally seek for clarity fr my PFA. Yes sir, this is what I was trying to explain in one of my previous posts about "Reconciliation". Reconciliation is done to ensure that RSA balance is the exact amount due to the deceased. Some have been overpaid(like the scenario you mentioned) while some underpaid. Even me, I'm expecting some deductions to be made from my dad's RSA so I won't be surprised whenever I get debit alerts because FG was still crediting his account till a year or thereabouts after his demise. The month our application got to PENCOM was when FG stopped crediting his account and alerts ceased, but we've been receiving incremental quarterly statements, probably due to returns on Investments (ROI) Whatever ROI that entered his account after his demise wouldn't be deducted(to the best of my knowledge sha). But please, make efforts to seek clarifications from your PFA and kindly let us know whatever they explain. Thanks |

Winter12: My late dad contributory. I wrote them a message , copy pencom , copy human rights and they answered with apology Please correct me if I'm wrong. I think your late dad was already retired before he passed away, which means his account has already been reconciled before you applied for his contributory that's why you were able to access it and they paid you his Contributory? |
