JUST IN: I just received a call from a 2012 NDDC phD Scholar that this year's recipients have already been contacted. It was also made known that the scholars are due to arrive at their various schools from next week. While this statement is most likely to be true as my friend was a previous awardee and said he knows up to 3 persons who were awarded for this year, I still question its credibility as the NDDC official I mentioned earlier says otherwise. Nonetheless, I advise we should contact our respective sources to verify on this.

Well just incase anyone still doesnt think we are being shrugged due to non-release of funds from the FG to NDDC, do a comprehensive reading of the news posted on the NDDC website on Aug 18,2014 : "We would touch more lives if..."

Like a few have just said, I concure that the NDDC have been inconsiderate and bossy in their organisation of this Scholarship Scheme. We are not begging for this, its our indigenous right and so we should not be treated as though we are being favored hence should stomach whatever we are being fed with. A protest will permanently ease nerves of present and prospective applicants.

But Still, I ll advise we wait till say Mid September. I am tired of hearing different information from these proclaimed sources as well, but Experience last time I checked is the best teacher.

PS: lists of Previous years were inexcusably late because the corresponding tests and interviews were also held late.

LATEST: It is now confirmed that the list will "definitely" be PUBLISHED in September. As the source said, it wont be something hidden at all. Delay is due to allocation of funds. We Stay Alive. It is a promise that all scholars will be sorted out irrespective of resumption dates.

Not this number. I called this and the lady who picked said "wrong number, I dont know anything about nddc". It was another one I called

@cabaye she spoke in a way that she expects the list to have been published already. So anytime from now bro.

Confirmed: I called another number I saw on the naijahotjob blog, she is an NDDC representative and she made me understand the final list has been submitted to the MD but yet to be published. It is now affirmative that it wont be suspended and the funds are available, just a few questioning I guess.

From that naijahotjobs I was made to understand the list came in so late that the management gave room for applicants to choose schools of Jan resumption dates. And I called the number tagged to Mr Osmond but A woman picked disclaiming such name and relation to the NDDC.

Here's to corroborate some facts stated by some days earlier.
It is true that :
1. The NDDC board was in the Uk sometimes in July to see scholars and check their performances.
2. When asked about the 2014 scholarship scheme at the meeting dere in the Uk, the Nddc representatives expressed their discontentment at the lower-than usual budget of their education sector this year.
3. That probably either the final list is being truncated to match the available funds or that the budget is yet to be signed by the President, hence the delay.

If you can remember those didnt have NYSC certificates were allowed to sit the test ( though it was an application requirement). But what happened at interview stage?

I guess so. Enrollment is the last stage before you resume the course. This implies that u must have paid the acceptance fee and in most cases obtained a visa already. I only hope they dint mean to state that particular requirement.

Except you've got d balance of your living expenses in d bank for 28 days already.... or the NDDC's $30,000 covers all your expenses.

The delay will favour those that will resume next year.

Thats a good point. But if you remember the list of the scholarship application requirements, one was that the applicant must have "enrolled" or been enrolled. I guess thats why they are taking their ample time, still it is unfair.

Also by mathematics , 1Bn NGN is spent anually for the scholarship, and so asides that the finance department wud boast of a balance of at least *2 of this as they wudnt want to be gented by waiting on a new budget, that is only 1Bn of 322Bn as passed into law by the Senate (which is only a few Bns higher than the old budget). Hence the scholarship is almost independent of budget approval, in my opinion.

PS: By IOcs, i mean Multinationals, not necessarily home-grown oil coys.
