Travel / The Burial Site Of The Queen Of Sheba In Ogun State Nigeria (pictures & Video) by TheFisayo(f): 3:18pm On Feb 26, 2019
It was a 4 hours drive, 2 hours from Lagos to Abeokuta and an extra two hours from Abeokuta to Ijebu Ode where the burial site of The Queen of Sheba is located. The Queen of Sheba is popularly called Bilikisu Sugbon by the Yoruba Ijebu clan of Ijebu Ode Nigeria.

Before visiting the site, all I knew about the site was what I was told about the site by the present commissioner of culture and tourism in Ogun State; RT. Hon. Muyiwa Oladapo. He mentioned all the cultural and heritage sites that are present in Ogun State that needs more promotion, while stating the development plans for the sites.

Before he mentioned this destination to me, I knew nothing about it, which like I mentioned in my PREVIOUS POST, the major thing lacking in tourism in Nigeria is branding and promotion. Upon doing a few research about the site online, it was confirmed by Patrick Darling an Archaeologist at Bournemouth University that Ijebu Ode consist of the remains of the ancient kingdom, however, the argument against it at the moment is the dating.

The Journey
I find myself sleeping on every road trip and this one was not any different, so I can not describe to you how the whole journey was except for the fact that there were quite a few hills while approaching the site and the road from Abeokuta to Ijebu Ode was not as bad as I imagined it to be.

It was about 3pm when we got to OKE-ERI community, it is a small Muslim community with a simple lifestyle and little or no access to technology. We got down from our vehicle to greet the Baale (community head) before heading to the destination.

We were just about 10 minuets away from the tourist destination while walking, and about 3 minuets away while driving when I started to get a little bit excited in anticipation of what I was to see and experience only to get there and be told we could not enter, or rather “I” as a female could not enter.

At the top of the list is the National Aquarium. This aquarium is THE AQUARIUM you need to visit to get an ACTUAL aquarium experience! It was superb being here, and I tried to capture this on my VLOG on YouTube, with the sharks and the dolphin shows.

The experience was all encompassing and I was unable to go round the aquarium, although, I did touch some jelly fish and it did not hurt! So I definitely recommend you go there because it is worth every penny.

Cost: About $35 per person or more.

Travel / The Washington Police Tried To Stop Me - The White House Story! by TheFisayo(f): 12:49pm On Aug 09, 2018
It was a hot afternoon, walking through the streets of Washington D.C. with other tourist and I kept yearning to get to the WHITE HOUSE. We initially walked through the back of the white house, this I remember was a very unclear view from the view I wanted. While moving forward to get a closer view of the White house to get that Instagram banging picture we were stopped by some police men (the po po, lol), we were told not to move any closer, I was disappointed.

This was disappointing mostly because I did not get the VIEW I wanted, and I thought to myself, “I see people post pictures of themselves with the GREAT WHITE HOUSE VIEW“, so I yearned to search for the view while ignoring what others were saying about that being the font view of the WHITE HOUSE.

So I began the hustle to find the best view of the WHITE HOUSE. While on this journey, I saw a lot of beautiful buildings and monuments that expresses the history of America, here is one;

So after walking for 45 minuets under the hot sun I finally found the perfect view of the WHITE HOUSE, the view I see always online, it was a beautiful view, and I WAS SUPER EXCITED even though I called brother Trump to come and greet me outside but he didn’t. I sha told him that he should invite me in next time and introduce me to his Minister of Tourism and let’s talk business.

TV/Movies / Why I Was Featured On Sliverbird Television -stv THE FISAYO by TheFisayo(f): 12:40pm On Aug 09, 2018
As I said on my Instagram, “Amaka might disappoint, but God never disappoints”. This is so true, He does things at His time, and it might not make sense at the beginning, it never does, but things begins to fall into place at some point.

After my FIRST TV FEATURE of the year, I was not sure when the next one was going to be, but it happened, I am never sure of my tomorrow, but God has it all penned out. This is beginning to feel like a motivational read, I know, you would get this once in a while, it is what I do here. I write to inspire.

I was invited to these television programs to talk about travels/tourism in Nigeria while including the various things I do, and the channels in which I tell my story. It is all humbling, even though at each point I am on Television I am always looking forward to the next interview, I fail to leave in the moment and thank God for the moment.

We live in a fast paced environment where we yearn for more and sometimes want to compete with others. Competitions can be healthy and unhealthy, healthy sometimes because you get pushed to keep moving because of the success stories of others, but that is not what I want to get into.

I am writing this post to take a moment to be greatful, because these might seem like small achievements to me, but they are big wins also, even to alot of people. Do not get me wrong, it is good to yearn for more. It is good to achieve more. It is good to be more. But take a moment to be thankful for each step of the way.

Travel / Nigerians Reactions To The Newly Launched Nigeria Air by TheFisayo(f): 12:28pm On Aug 09, 2018
The announcement of the newly launched Nigeria’s National carrier “Nigerian Air” took the world by storm… At least a few people that did not see this coming, I for one did not see this coming, and I can not tell if this is here to stay or not, but I’d rather just watch the space.

Meanwhile, after seeing its launch on the 18th of July, I went to twitter and my other social media accounts to ask people what they taught about this new developments, and this is what they had to say; (see inserted pictures below)...

Apart from the fact that most of these comments were funny, I could not help but think of this as another political strategy for the upcoming elections. Although, in the midst of all this, I do hope they do things right and think of the lives that would be flying on the plane when they begin operation on the 19th of December. And as always, the message I keep preaching is “excellence“, let that be their watch word.

Do you also think it is a political scheme? (DO VISIT A COMMENT AND VISIT MY SITE FOR MORE ARTICLES ON TRAVEL- https://thefisayo.com/)

Travel / The Future Of Lagos Tourism Is Makoko Community- Find Out Why! by TheFisayo(f): 2:44pm On May 25, 2018
It was a Sunday afternoon, I took my bag, my camera kit, and a phoned Uche (a travel blogger- lagosigboboy) to join me on an adventure to Makoko – a community that resides in the heart of Lagos, on top of water, just right in the middle of third mainland bridge (the longest bridge in Africa).

I journeyed to Makoko with little or no knowledge of the community. “It was going to be fun, I was going to make an awesome video for my Youtube fam” (that was my thought). I never knew I would learn so much from a community that seems so little and neglected.

Uche took me to see the Iwaya community before we got into Makoko, and it was there that I got to see the true definition of a community.

This bridge below might seem like nothing to you, but it represents love, sacrifice and patience. Prior to my visit to this community, I always wondered what their lifestyle was like whenever I looked over 3rd mainland bridge during a go-slow, and it was amusing to know that they had a normal lifestyle like every other Lagosian… or at least that is the way they see it.

Back to the bridge. Note that without this bridge, if you cannot swim, you cannot get from point A to point B. This to me seems like what connects the floating community to the land, it connects the buyers to the sellers, it connects the adventurer to the heart of the community. And this bridge was built with the donations of money, time, and labor from the people in the community and regular visitors or rather compassionate visitors.

Travel / 7 Tourist Attraction Akwa Ibom Has To Offer That You Do Not Know! by TheFisayo(f): 1:04pm On Feb 28, 2018
Akwa Ibom , located in the Southern part of Nigeria, is fondly known for their mouthwatering Nigerian delicacies like Afang soup, Itama and their popular fishing trade. Before now, I really did not know there was more to explore in Awka Ibom until I traveled there and experienced the beautiful City of Uyo for myself! Seat back, relax, and let these words give you your best travel “imagination experience”.

1. Watching the sunset at the Lagoon:
There are very few states in Nigeria where you can take a great pictures at the beach side or Lagoon, and Akwa Ibom is one of them. The sight was absolutely beautiful, while thinking of a million and one ways to take a good picture for Instagram, I sat down on a bonker, watching the sun set, listening to the melody of the water as it moves with the waves of the wind.

2. Go hiking on The Largest Golf course in West Africa:
Did you know Akwa Ibom has the largest golf course in West Africa?! I was has alarmed as you are when I was told. After witnessing the golf course located in Ibom Hotel, I kept wondering to myself – if it was possible for someone to go round the golf course in a day, my conclusion was that it isn’t possible – at least not by leg, unless you have the strength.

3. AkwaIbom Has Colonial history & Heritage Sites:
Just like Lagos State, Ogun State, and other states with deep history about Nigeria and her colonial fathers, Akwa Ibom has a share of the story. In 1914, Lord Lugard signed a document that brought about the amalgamation between the Northern and Southern protectorates under British rule to form “Nigeria” as a county in a 2-room cottage in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom.

Events / 7 Highlights Of The Bella Naija Bbn & Baileys Wonderland FOR BRIDES TO BE!! by TheFisayo(f): 9:11pm On Jan 31, 2018
This time last week, 30 brides were chosen for the BBN & Baileys Wonderland. Bella Naija & Baileys partnered on this project, which for me, is a perfect duo! I mean it is hard to find a woman who does not like “Baileys”.

The event was centered around women that are about to get married, and it was an event full of fun activities, as I closely monitored the whole thing on Baileys’ Instagram story.

The tagline of the event was; “for the love of weddings”. And the number 1 aim of the event was to indulge the brides in so form of relaxation while preparing for their weddings, so they do not let the entire process wear them out.

Here are 7 highlights of the weekend – 26th Friday – 28th Sunday:

1. They also had a party at Oriental hotel which Bovi hosted, and RMD had a few words with them.
