I don't have the time to keep reading all this rubbish where you keep trying to pass off your dumb opinions as facts.

* Any pastor who misuses his position as a servant of God will face his wrath.

* Giving to the church and supporting the work of God is good and worthy of praise, regardless of the eventual outcome.

* Whatever you do or give to the church, your intentions are what matter to God. He judges the heart and the motives behind your actions, not merely the outcome.
This is the problem, you believing people that have chosen the pulpit as their medium of perpetuating scam are pastors.

Build more prisons if you cannot take the bull by the horn.

They can understudy other African countries on how they were able to curb such menace.

Let's take Benin republic for example, before Patrick Talon came into power, arm robberies were the other of the day.

Places like Seme were even more notorious as that was the hotbed for crime due to large presence of burea de change activities going on there.

When it became obvious these was threating the economy of the country as Nigerian traders opted for alternative market, the government quickly stepped in and kill and send to prisons anyone caught. and today i can tell you for a fact that criminal activities has reduced to the barest minimum in that country. I can count billions on an empty street in Cotonou today.

If government is ready, agberosim is not what they cannot end.

It took this guy less than 6 months in power to completely eradicate the
There's zero incentive to end the meance of agberoism because the agbero's are Tinubu's foot soldiers.

Essentially, he's told them that they're free to rob and harrass the populace so long as they make themselves available for his bidding when necessary.

If I convert all the cats in a City into rat catchers, I've done well. You can't blame me if the Cat population quadruples over the next 25 years until cats become a pest

Lagos have converted most of their agberos to tax collectors in early 2000s

If you keep adding more agberos due to population explosion, there would be more agberos than jobs
The agberos terrorising Lagos are not migrants, they are Yoruba boys, primarily born and raised in Lagos, with families that have lived in Lagos for generations. Obi from Imo, Osas from Benin or Yusuf from Kano won't hop night bus to Lagos to start becoming agbero. To be an agbero, you need a certain level of street cred, so kill that argument of migration being responsible for Lagos' agbero/violent begging problem.

What's happening is that the agberos Tinubu commissioned and nurtured from 1999 didn't stop recruiting and because it's state-backed, and there's no retirement age, it's only natural that the population of agbero's grows. Boys that were toddlers when Tinubu first put forth the brilliant idea of institutionalising agberoism are now grown men, and have done what any rational person with zero to no options will do, join the state-protected shakedown business.

This is not a migration problem, it's a problem of institutionalized thuggery.

Almajiri is not part of Govt

Better comparison is militants turned pipeline security contractors

Or USA turning Pirates to their Naval force post Independence
The agberos that are harassing people around Lagos, are they also contractors?

A better analogy would be the US making a handful of pirates naval officers while the government actively supports piracy and free for all theft in their costal waters, and when they're told to do something about the piracy problem, they point to their handful of naval-pirates.

everyone will try to get in on the easy money and start harassing anyone in an expensive car
and from there it will trickle down same way kidnapping did - from oyibo expats to your everyday nigerian

it is that simple.

hopefully the authorities are seeing this and will clamp down. sanwo unfortunately imho is a little too soft in matters like this. we saw a variant of this in the post end sars looting.
You're seeing Ibime making an argument for why Lagos institutionalized agberoism...miss me with this cop out.

Lagos is not the only state with olodo's in Nigeria for it to have a begging and agberoism culture that's at the same level with Northern states where street begging is culture.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m):

Other States have gone into full time kidnapping with just 2 million people

Agberoism now is better than in the 1990s in Lagos where they obtain you everywhere despite absorbing 20m people from other states and that's mostly due to the institutionalisation of agberoism and redirection of their vices into tax collection, providing some structure and accountability to criminal elements

It has been an outstanding success. It doesn't mean Lagos will absorb the whole of Nigeria from other failed states and continue to maintain levels of relative sanity
Criminals adapt to the crimes their environment permits.

Lagos' dense population, traffic situation, heavy policing and lack of viable escape routes makes kidnapping a logistically difficult enterprise. It's the same reason you find even in state's where kidnapping happens, it's often on expressways, rural areas, or semi-urban parts of the state. The criminals in Lagos didn't get an orientation at the border when entering the state, they saw what was feasible and adapted...plus they get to enjoy institutional backing.

There are people that write papers praising the almajiri culture up North, so you drumming support for a culture that's designed to make beggars and thugs of able-bodied men is no surprise.

I remember when people on this thread were defending agberoism in Lagos, with some saying Tinubu was a genius for institutionalising it, that permitting organized shakedowns prevented them from graduating into armed robbery. Today the same Lagos government is crying about the culture that was nurtured by Tinubu...maybe they missed the whitepaper from Tinubu, Raumdeuter and Ibime on the merits of agberoism.

There are Nigerian states with poverty deeper than what you have in Lagos, but you won't see agberoism and street begging normalised at this scale.

What a society rewards, it gets more of...Lagos chose to normalize and reward agberoism, and they've gotten it in abundance.

Flint may be living in the States or YouKay.

No doubt that age can be an issue. Na true!

But saying it's a bigger red flag than tribalism is what we both know isn't true.

If there are 100 intertribal marriages, 98 of them met serious resistances from families before they were finally accepted.

No be new thing for here!
So in essence if a family is opposed to an intertribal marriage for non-tribal reasons, by default they're also opposed to the marriage for tribal reasons simply because it's inter-tribal.

You point falls apart when you realize they dated for nearly 8 years before getting married. It's not like Peter just woke up one day and decided to settle with an older woman. They had a child in 2008, 5 years before tieing the knot. So he married the mother of his child and a long time partner that the family knows very well.
My point being?

Going by your time stamps, the incidences Peter referenced would have happened 3/4 years into knowing her.

She was known to the family as a madam/destiny helper, and not someone Peter was having a relationship with to end in marriage.

This is Peter narrating how his relationship with Lola Okoye started.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuK0A-VIB-Q?si=4uSkauwun6zK_DKV

You'd see how he keeps referring to her as "that woman", showing the relationship dynamics as at when they first knew her.

So who calls the child of a 9 year old older wife a "Basterrrd"?

I am not trying to force tribalism on the Okoyes', but these things exist. It is a big issue amongst tribal marriages, and even. States.

Recently, Lagos State Domestic Agency arrested a father in-law for throwing the widow of his son out of their house and claimed all the properties....Yoruba to Yoruba oh.

It is a struggle to bring a different tribe to your family for marriage. Most Nigerian families struggle to entertain such proposals
Is tribalism the only reason you'd call a child "basterrd"?

I'm not saying tribe might not have factored in everything that played out, but there was a bigger red flag, being the almost predatory age gap between Peter and Lola for tribal difference to become the primary reason they'd be opposed to their union.

Very few Nigerian families would take sitting the thought of their son that's at the prime of his life settling for a Nigerian woman that's 9 years older than him.

It's like a bring a cripple/mute from a different tribe home, and my family opposes the wedding and you're saying their primary reason for opposing it was the tribal difference.

Paul said tribe was never the issue.

Peter is not the only person from the Okoye family that married outside their tribe.

Peter in all his narration has not mentioned tribe as the reason why the family opposed their union.

The mum later welcomed Lola into the fold, and if you watched their elder brothers interview, he mentioned being present during "his inlaws" burial (Lola's father's).

Peter said Paul doesn't have any personal issues with Lola. The only person he's mentioned with an unending grudge for Lola is Jude, who also happens to be Peter's number 1 hater.

You've chosen to ignore the more obvious red flag being the 9 year age difference between both parties.

There's still no fact based evidence for tribe being the reason the family opposed their union...if you have any of such evidence it'd fare better.

Tinubu has exposed himself and APC with this action.

You cannot in one voice say that EFCC is independent and then in another voice you're given orders for them to suspend their activities included vacating a court order.

This shows that it is the president that directs what EFCC does and who they go against. That means the saying by Adams Oshiomole that if you join APC your sins are forgiven is confirmed. Tinubu was the one who asked EFCC to stop the prosecution of Ganduje, Yahaya Bello, Okowa, Mattewale, etc despite very clear and obvious evidences

This is who Raumdeuter wants to sell to us

Imagine what Lagos would have become if it's resources are not being stolen by Tinubu's Femi and his gang of thieves
You create a government that values sycophancy over everything else, this is the sort of mess you get.

In any other country, the EFCC chairman should be tendring his resignation, or the president/EFCC chairman answering the house of assembly for this mess.
