I chose Yar’Adua because others were
corrupt –Obasanjo
JULY 16, 2015 : RAMON OLADIMEJI
193 Comments
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo
FOrmer President Olusegun Obasanjo said on
Wednesday that he chose the late former
President Umaru Yar’ Adua as his successor
because the others who wanted the post were
corrupt.
Obasanjo said one of the people who wanted
to succeed him in 2007 was “stinkingly
corrupt” and that the only way he (Obasanjo)
could justify himself before man and God was
to go for Yar’Adua, who, he said, was the only
one among the contenders then who was not
corrupt.
The former President, who spoke in an
interview with a private television station,
Channels Television, in Abeokuta, did not
mention the ‘corrupt’ Yar’Adua rivals.
Among the prominent presidential hopefuls in
the Peoples Democratic Party in 2007 were
Obasanjo’s deputy, Abubakar Atiku; and ex-
Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili.
Atiku later abandoned the PDP to contest the
presidential election on the platform of the
defunct Action Congress while Odili’s ambition
fizzled out with the nomination of Yar’Adua.
The AC later metamorphosed into the Action
Congress of Nigeria, which later merged with
the Congress for Progressive Change and the
All Nigeria Peoples Party to form the now
ruling All Progressives Congress.
Obasanjo’s choice of successor died on May
5, 2010 from heart-related ailments. Many
condemned Obasanjo for choosing a man who
was manifestly sick to lead the country.
But in the Channels interview, Obasanjo said
he only acted based on the information made
available to him.
He said, “Even if you take your son as your
successor, you are not sure of what he will do
when he gets there. Don’t ever kid yourself.
“What do I know about any successor? What
he presents. When he gets there, he presents
it differently.
“We did our best, but if you say our best is
not good enough, I will say, when it comes to
your turn, do better.
“With all the people that are available for
successor, what we came up with was about
the best that we could think of at that time.
“One of those who wanted to do the job came
to me and said, ‘Sir, I like your job, but I
cannot do it the way you are doing it.’ Now,
if he had told me that, should I then come
and say, ‘okay, come, let me give you the
job?’ He had told me that, ‘I like your job, but
look, the way you are doing it, I haven’t got
the stamina to do it that way.’ Then, what do
you expect me to do?
“Or the one that I know that, oh!, this one,
before he gets the job, he’s stinkingly corrupt.
Now will I be able to defend myself before
God and man if with what I know I give this
job or I encourage the man to have this job?”

Imgombe2016: WHAT MUSLIMS ARE EXPECTED TO PAY CHRISTIANS BACK WITH. .I'm writing this religious article to attract peaceful serenity among the two heavenly religious bodies;Islam and Christianity in Nigeria.Going back to colonial rule,Sir Luggard in 1914 prayed that peace should reign among the Nigerians despite their ethnicity and difference in religious belief.Nigeria is the largest country in Africa in population with over 350 ethnic groups and 250 local languages.Diversity in religions is the major factor that will make Nigeria no more again. As a single entity we ought not to be shedding the blood of our brethren over the ground.Let's wake up,now we are not in primitives era,the time of slavery trade. We are existing in the Modern and Globalized world Nigeria. Why are we left behind and lagging of Technology?Russians,Americans,Britons and even young Japanese are growing more and more higher in terms of Technology. My respective Islamic and Christian Brethren, let's focus on the objection of our life.Let's shun discrimitation.I know in the whole Holy Qur'an,no where God says :we should kill Christians.During prophets Muhammad (SAW)'s time,if a Muslim kills non-Muslims with no legal reason, the Muslim is paying ransom to the non Muslims family. Also prophet Muhammad (SAW) says:Whoever cause hatred or trouble to Islam is not with me on the day of resurrection. So please Muslims brother,we should keep reminding ourselves about hereafter because the journey is full of risk. Please be checking your meter always death may come anyway and any time unexpectedly. What we ought to pay Christians back is peaceful life as they continued to live with us nuisanceless.Share this article to all Nigerians in order to attract peaceful co-existence. Published on Wednesday,15 July,2015 by Ibrahim M Gombe. You must be a south west muslim. Hausa dont believe this and their leader cause it. they have polluted their mind with fulse teathing and this fulse teathing is going on now in south west. |

HungerBAD: I have to copy and paste this from an earlier reply, to somebody that asked the same question.
And contrary to your beliefs or what you think you know. All Western Countries engage in negotiation with terrorists, but they do it through a third party country. For exampe, all negotiations between between IRAN and the United States is handled by a THIRD PARTY country Switzerland.
PFC Bowe Bergdahl, was a US Army held captive by the Taliban. His release was negotiated by Qatar. A little schooling or reading about INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS will broaden your horizon on how DEVELOPED Government works, and not the fire approach applied by past Presidents of Nigeria.
Buhari is on the RIGHT PATH. The aim is to Islamise Nigeria according to Sakarau. Negotiate with they mean give them more money for arms and ammuniation. |

dustydee: Comprehension problems here. Have you seen the video of a police officer that died in Kaduna when he went with his bare hands to check a package placed by the roadside even when it was suspected to a bomb? He died instantly when the package blew in his face. If that guy was carrying a bomb. then the NSCDC officer was on a suicide mission. There are better ways to have handled the situation than he did. How? can we know,it may be of help. if the news said NYSC officer run away because they dont have bomb detector , what will you say? |

Obasanjo was Nigeria President for 8 good years and Ajegunle was better than Ota in his town, so [/size] You miss it. Do u know what they call decision making? all tribe must be reprisent and any decision they make will afect u one way or the other. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Was Adam Truly The First Man On Earth? by thegoodone2(m): 1:16pm On Jun 28, 2015 |
Barnabaseloka: The proof is that the word of God said so. God's word might sound foolish but know that the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of men. 1 Corinth.1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of men. 1 Corinth.2:13-14 13. These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Everything that is written in the Scriptures is by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Only those that are spiritual will understand it, not those who see before believing God's word. John 20:29 Jesus said to him, Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.
I have to quote from the bible b/c you said that you are a christian. If you were an atheist, I would not have wasted time discussing with you. The way christians walk with God is that of FAITH (believing what the Scriptures say, even when we have not seen them).
Tell me how you believed in God, who is unseen and do not believe His word on creation b/c it cannot be proven scientifically. Are you not one-sided? If you want to believe science above God's word, do it wholesomely. If you want to believe God's word above science, do it completely.
If the word of God said that the first man was Adam and you do not believe it, then who was the first man that evolved from ape? I love this your write up. Just ask him this question again. Why is APE stop tranform to human being? |
