Bleep off, you are a fool who thinks he knows everything.I said I doubted if it was congestion because of my experience on the site. What if it is an internal arragement by the owners of the site to ward off traffic. But you seem to be sure it is congestion, because you built the site and administer it, moreover you started insulting your father.

Sorry, dad.

Ol boy you must be an e.diot.I have been checking that site for some days even before the May 1 to no avail. If it is congestion do you think the administartors don't have the capacity to deal with it.

Haha. OK. Thank you, intelligent man.

The fact is if you really think you will ask yourself why the congestion did not occur at the application stage and previous years.

Like I said... common sense. Did everyone apply at the same time? I can't say what happened in previous years.

Sorry. No vex. But if you don't think think it's congestion, or the number of site visitors causing these problems, then you should have your common sense checked. It's running low.

pator: Thx all for your valuable contribution in this thread of hope. Certainly not all of us might win but there is absolutely no crime in having hope and faith and make your confession. If in case you don't win tomorrow know for sure it is not because God did not answer ur prayer maybe He knows this is not the best time for u to go or He might have a better plan for you, so there shouldn't be any regret. Meanwhile, I have a question for Temmy and other experience guys in the house, like approximately how many months does it take to be invited for interview when you win. Because I'm surprised some 2012 winners are still doing interview. Am preparing my docs already because my name is there already and I will be the first to testify here tomorrow. Thx all

OK. So have you prayed a little? Does that mean you will/won't get it?

jennykadry:

You are welcome. Be positive, don't let anybody here dent your spirit. I believe if it yours you will get it. Staying positive in life no matter what goes a long way.

So how does one know if it belongs to one, BEFORE the result comes out?
It's better to feel bad now, or feel nothing now, and be pleasantly surprised when the results come out, than to be hopeful and dreaming dreams and seeing visions now, only for your hopes and dreams to be dashed to pieces after the selection ends.
All I'm saying is people should have realistic expectations. It is very unlikely that any given person will be selected.

The chances of anyone winning is about 1-1.5%. So please, people, don't get your hopes up too much. All your crying, calling on God, and faith is not going to change anything. If you're lucky, good for you. If you're not, you can always try again.
So, when people say, "We all want it and we shall all get it in Jesus' name", I just laugh. grin How will everyone here get it? How?

Approximately 36 hours to go...

I am a theist, a monotheist. I also believe in Jesus Christ as a true embodiment of God's sublime qualities. and His saving grace to humanity through His messages which he demonstrated fully. But, I would like to answer this question for atheists who have so far not responded adequately: Atheists have no evidence to prove that God does not exists, they are merely not satisfied with the way many defined God and His rules for humans. And since they declined the offer of subjective 'investigation' of God, which is needed for recognising the Godhead, the WHY would never matter to them. Their concerns remain within the 'seen' world and the physical laws pulsating through and influencing the physical universe.

DO you have proof that he DOES exist?

Yes ! As a palliative for the inflation which has taken immediate effect and has made nonsense of the marginal increase (to the best of my knowledge) in salary. You still haven't answered my question. You reply still ignores my note of the possibility that the fuel being sold is subsidized. Furthermore, one hopes the deregulation of the downstream sector will work the way it did in the telecoms industry. I have my doubts.

Yes, the government should ensure that subsidized stock is depleted before stations revert to unsubsidized prices.
Politics / Re: 1600 Buses To Be Deployed Nation Wide by thekrafter(m): 7:59pm On Jan 04, 2012
Uyi Iredia:

Actually, tax is deducted from civil service workers salary. Reduce the tax, increase their pay. However, as I've implied re-instating the subsidy in till the widely-agreed date, April 12th, won't be a bad idea. The petrol being sold (at de-subsidized rate) is subsidized. As I asked you, who is gaining from this ?

Increase salary for all civil servants? No!! A limited tax rebate (not proportional to current salary) would be more appropriate.
And when I was talking about people who needed it most, I wasn't talking about civil servants. Minimum wage was just increased to N18k/month. People were getting by on the old salary.
Politics / Re: 1600 Buses To Be Deployed Nation Wide by thekrafter(m): 7:45pm On Jan 04, 2012
Uyi Iredia:

@ bolded >>> We both agree on that. However you next statement is asinine. 1600 buses IS NOT a sustainable palliative. A better palliative for instance would be the increase of workers salaries or tax cuts.
It's not the be all and end all. But it's a start.
And sorry, most of the people who most need the subsidy don't pay tax. Even they were given a 100% tax break, it wouldn't help them cope.

logica:

Speaking of going to jail, don't you think the "Commander in Chief" would lead the long line to Kirikiri? You are simply talking about what the government should do; have they indicated they have any plans of doing that? Spending 72% of the budget on themselves? From what you have seen, do you think there is that will to tighten any belts?
We are that WILL. That is what we should be protesting for. In exactly the same way we are trying to force them to remove the subsidy.

Nadanbata:

So we get the buses only when we protest abi?

So it seems my brother. So we need to protest more and get some heavy-jowled, corrupt pigs in jail.

And you think, it's after suddenly raising the price of petrol that we should now start running to fix PHCN? Shouldn't the task of fixing PHCN have happened earlier? And knowing that the problem with PHCN has not been fixed combined with the petrol price increase, what does that tell you about the intelligence of the people at the helm of affairs?

My point exactly!! Obviously to get stuff done, we need to kick the government's ass. But it's only now, when we can no longer fuel our generators that we're getting up! We know billions have been spent to no avail. What did we do? Nothing. Since we have got off our as.ses now, we might as well ask for the right thing. And that's not re-instatement of the subsidy.
Politics / Re: 1600 Buses To Be Deployed Nation Wide by thekrafter(m): 7:31pm On Jan 04, 2012
Uyi Iredia:

Wrong ! They are justiofied given the fact that the removal was sudden and without palliatives. It isn't feasible for the average worker to live on the same salary when the prices of goods and transport has doubled.

Actually, they have been running the fuel subsidy for almost 10 years now. But consider the stupidity of the government which buys petrol when it has crude oil. A government which is so inept it cant even maintain the downstram sector of a product which constitutes over 96 % of its exports.

I agree, the subsidy needs to go. However, the government clearly lacks tact. As I said on Facebook, if JFK was as dumb as this government we would have been 'enjoying' the falloyt of a nuclear war.

I agree, the removal could have been handled better. But the so called smart ones are leading the "masses" to force our government to kill us. And by kill us I mean re-instating the subsidy. If the subsidy stays, in the short term, we gain, government doesn't lose a thing. They got along just fine last year with the subsidy. But in the long term, Nigeria will die. The subsidy needs to go, the government needs to lead the way with belt tightening measures, and people need to go to JAIL!!

What subsidy did they manage? When you manage, don't you keep tabs/reports etc on what you manage? They managed subsidy yet the paid more than 4x than the previous year, what kind of management is that? My friend that is not management but LOOTING avenue, if they want management, they should focus their lens on the three refineries. Besides, the bus scheme should be done on state level and govt can subsidize on the state level rather than running a federal scheme program THAT WILL NOT WORK.

The govt is lazy to go to work, the subisdy should be given directly to consumers and not through marketers who bring in fuel. The IRS practices the same scheme through the DOT if you want to know how I mean I can explain.

We're getting closer together. But you seem to believe every Nigerian deserves a fuel subsidy. I do not. The buses are a way of subsidizing the most needy. We need more efforts like this. For health, education, etc. Targeted alleviation. Not fuel subsidy that even bank managers benefit from.

I don't know why dummies keep talking as if petrol is only used to power automobiles. So how about generators? Let me preempt and say, I should get solar panels right? How much power can solar panels generate? Yet PHCN might not provide power for up to 3 days?
Very good. Shebi we could buy generator and fuel it before? Now we know that privately generated power is too expensive, we will hold the government to do the right thing. Countless billions have been spent on the power industry to no avail. But we were all complacent, after all we had our small IPMN generators.
NOW IS THE TIME TO HOLD THE GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABLE. We need to protest, not to remove the fuel subsidy but to cut their benefits, to demand accountability for past billions misspent. For 4k's sake, some people need to go to jail!!

Politics / Re: 1600 Buses To Be Deployed Nation Wide by thekrafter(m): 7:13pm On Jan 04, 2012
I disagree. In my opinion the protests are for the wrong thing. We should be protesting against the government and holding them accountable for past and present corruption, not against the removal of fuel subsidy.

manny4life:

I'm am asking you "This is a good first step. We want more" because you seem to loose sight of what's at stake.

Please wake up from that sleep that has drained your ability to think correctly. Even if it was for free (though this is unlikely the case), what will 1,600 buses do to a population like Lagos with 15millon + residents where more than 50% use public transportation? Keep in mind this is ONLY Lagos, the other 35 states including Abuja isn't included, so NO how can that make me and others shut our mouth?

My friend, think with the brain God gave you and I; here yourself out, alleviate the problems arising from fuel subsidy? When was the last time that a Govt run program was successful? Isn't this the basic foundation of all the chaos going on now? Govt cannot maintain three refineries to sustain Nigerian peoples consumption, then it's a fleet of 1,600 NATIONWIDE is what govt wants to implement AND maintain? Isn't there a greater probability that these buses will sooner or later phase out sooner than people imagine and the "POOR FOLKS" are left in the dark, Brother OPEN YOUR EYES.

So the government cannot run a 1600-bus transport scheme but they can run a fuel subsidy? GTFOH.

manny4life:

By his grace I'm not lazy, I advocate for what is RIGHT. Fortunately for me I don't have family or friends back in Nigeria but I still feel pains for people affected by this, I know when WMATA increased $0.50 in my daily trip to work every morning doesn't look good to me though I know it's for a good purpose but in Nigeria, reverse is the case ---- LOOTING. I'm ANGRY and PISSED at people like you that can be bought easily "This is a good first step. We want more, like seriously? HOLD YOUR GOVT ACCOUNTABLE and not that nonsense. When President fixes refineries to accommodate Nigerian consumption, then you can take it off.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to call YOU lazy. I'm just characterizing many of the middle class folks who are up in arms about the wrong thing.
Yes we need to fix corruption, but this fuel subsidy needs to go. We can't keep subsidizing people who don't need it. If you own a private car in Nigeria, you shouldn't be subsidized. If you can't afford the new rates, get your car off the road. There are 1600 buses waiting.

You're the master chief of all the silly folks you talk about. Who spends 24hrs of their day on the bus?  shocked shocked shocked shocked

Good step in what direction? 1600 buses that will carry how many people? Is the ride for free? Will the bus run on special urine or subsidized or unsubsidized fuel? Which is it? How much will people pay for an average ride before the subsidy was removed? In addition to that, is FUEL used only in buses? How about other purposes?

Do YOU know the answers to these questions?
If the bus carries people for free or at a similar cost to previous methods of transportation will you shut your mouth then?  angry
If the government is supplying the buses to alleviate the pain of subsidy removal, does it not stand to reason that they will not be as expensive as current methods of transport? Abi you want Nigeria to subsidize your weekend runs in your car?! Or subsidize your watching Big Brother on DSTV? FOUL!!
The poorest will get help from the government. Lazy people like you who want goodies for free can go and die!!
Politics / Re: 1600 Buses To Be Deployed Nation Wide by thekrafter(m): 6:41pm On Jan 04, 2012
