Home/backyard networking isn't really good enough in today's world. You need real experience :S
I've been looking as well but I don't have any official experience yet (I have CCNA though smiley)

I don't personally like keynote, I just don't seem to be able to make anything look remotely professional out of it (it all looks like it was made by a 5 year old)

As compared to the brilliance of most Powerpoint presentations? smiley

jogego:

Y do u say am into IT? Believe it or not, am actually an accountant. Why ido you want to live the peace of manchester for London's madness? Am personally looking into moving out of london sometime before summer, its a crazily expensive city to live in

Really? An accountant? You know a lot about IT. I just assumed . . . Impressive though. Impressive. Yeah, Manchester kinda takes the good bits of London without the craziness, you're right there. I just want to get into the thick of things. Things have been pretty quiet for me in the last year or so. All the good stuff (read money) has happened in London. cheesy

Romance / Re: I Was Shocked When A Crippled Man Asked Me Out by thekrafter(m): 11:10am On Mar 21, 2006
chinani:

I think your Freudian slip says what other people on this thread are thinking SweetnSour. lipsrsealed But it is wrong, however unintentional. The man was physically handicapped, he did NOT have a "crippled soul".

How true chinani [claps]

Unfortunately, most people with some kind of handicap have been hurt through their lives by people's attitudes towards them (like in this thread for instance). I believe that must affect most of them in SOME way. It takes an emotionally strong person to react to that in a positive way. Having said that, one of the most beautiful women I know (inside and outside) is handicapped. She's married (to a handsome man), has children, and lives a fulfilling life. The first time I saw them, I thought, "Oh she's so lucky!". Later I realized she was no luckier than he was. Any man would be proud to have her as his wife.

Yeah pandora.com is pretty neat. It does start playing the same songs if u stay on the same station for a couple of hours. I use it to stumble on some new artists, and sometimes it brings up some oldies that take me back. smiley

@Seun: 1 GHz? 75K? I'm uncomfortable about that. Other stats?
RAM? HD space? Age?

What are u using it for anyway? It depends? You might be better of saving a bit more, or waiting a few months.

Computers / Re: Mac Running Windows by thekrafter(m): 11:25pm On Mar 20, 2006
Definitely getting a Mac at some point in the near future. The Macbook Pro is crazy expensive so I'll probably get a Mac mini. Always wanted to, so narf and blanka's work just pushed me over the edge. They are beautiful pieces of hardware. There's some pretty interesting Mac-only software out there too. I hear Keynote (presentation software a la Powerpoint) rocks!

@jogego: You're in IT right? I live in Manchester, thinking of moving to London in summer for about half a year. I'm into networks/security. Don't have much "official" experience. I've been playing with my home network for a couple of years now. Help?
Art, Graphics & Video / Re: Fireworks Or Photoshop? by thekrafter(m): 11:15pm On Mar 20, 2006
They aren't really comparable.
Compare Fireworks with Illustrator instead. They're both vector based. Photoshop is for image manipulation/creation.
Jobs/Vacancies / I'm A Network Admin And Need A London Job by thekrafter(m): 8:19pm On Mar 20, 2006
Hi guys.
I'm studying for a Masters in IT in Manchester right now.
I'll be through with the taught part of my program in May and I'm looking for a job in London that starts around June. I can work until December (hopefully longer).

I'm a pretty smart fellow, and a fast learner.

I'm very competent with Linux, MS, Perl, bash, and Python scripting. TCP/IP's my middle name. I play with MS networks pretty well too.
I have a CCNA + 2 CCNP exams (by June I should have them all), a CAPM (Certificate in Project Management), and an RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer). Yeah, I'm MCP certified as well and know quite a bit about security.

If anyone can give me a hand, just reply to this thread, or ping me at thekrafter [at] gmail [dot] com
