Education / Which Way.... by TheLaughter: 1:59am On May 23, 2020
Good morning everyone. I have been thinking all night, sleep ran away from my eyes, I truly need a guide.

I am 34 years old, single and working but pay is not encouraging, just managing and hoping for something better.

But I am beginning to think that just hoping is no longer enough, I have been hoping since 2012 after graduation for better jobs but none is forthcoming, just promises and failures.

I am graduate, I believe I am bright academically. I studied Political Science and Public Administration, bachelors and masters respectively.

The essence of this read is to seek informed opinions on how I can better myself, I have some ideas but I want to hear other advice.

1. Should i still further my education?

2. As a social scientist, are there any professional trainings and certifications I can get to boost my chances of getting a better job? Just as Accounting graduates go for ICAN.

3. I have been able to save up to 2m, but I am not business inclined. What type of business can you suggest, if you are advising towards that path.

Thanks everyone...

Jobs/Vacancies / Shouting At My Boss In The Dream. by TheLaughter: 7:16pm On May 20, 2020
Please house, I have had these particular dreams about four times, where I see myself yelling, shouting and quarrelling with my boss...

He annoys me anyway, I am so dissatisfied with the job and I am seeking better jobs other places. He is this type of person that thinks that since you are his employee, he can use you anywhere, anytime and anyhow. Most times I see myself doing jobs very different from why I was employed, outside my job responsibility. He can even send me to go carry his sick brother to the hospital, maybe because he doesn't like his wife... Imagine! How is that my business? Someone employed to work in the office?

I just want to know, if it has deeper meanings or I am just expressing/pouring out my dissatisfaction and frustration on him through my dreams.

The day I will leave that job, I will be a new person. I know some will say why not leave now, I don't want to leave without getting something better...
Education / Re: The Salary Of A Nigerian Professor After IPPIS (Pictured) by TheLaughter: 10:38am On May 19, 2020
Most lecturers will say they are there because of the passion of impacting knowledge on others and not for the money...

I begin to wonder why all these fiasco now?

Please house, if one graduates, does it mean one can no longer access ones's profile?

I finished my masters programme around 2015/2016, since then I have been unable to access my profile. Does it mean it was closed down?

95% of them have personal assistants. Infact ave seen a situation where a special adviser has his own adviser

Normally, they are paid by their principal but these days, their names are sneaked into the IPPIS/RMAFC database so government bears all the responsibilities

Okay bro. Thanks a lot but I was asking for States, not Federal Government.
Politics / Special Advisers And Senior Special Assistants To Governors. by TheLaughter: 10:54pm On Apr 21, 2020
Please house, I want to know if Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants to Governors have their own Personal Assistants? And if they do, is it the government that pays them or their principals pay them?

You may be right but you could also be 100 per cent wrong. I have friends with M.Sc. and M.Eng from conventional Universities who have been applying for lecturing jobs for more than three years but have not secured one. Where were u when Ph.D holders who happened to be jobless applied for Dangote truck driving jobs?
To secure a job in this country is quite hard hence it is somehow to attribute your failure in securing the job to your certificate. Let me ask you this. Your first degree cert, how easy was it securing a Federal job or good job for you? Think again.

There is a difference between securing a job and participating in the recruitment process. Others would be invited but they will not invite me.

How do you explain that na? Assuming they invite me and I participate and fail, that would be different...

Career / Working With NOUN Certificate. by TheLaughter: 1:53pm On Apr 14, 2020
Please house, let us encourage ourselves here.

Those who graduated from NOUN(Bsc, MSc, PhD) and got a fresh appointment(not promotion) with their certificates should please put down their level of degree, course studied and place of work.

Let us boost our morale.
Education / Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by TheLaughter: 1:19pm On Apr 14, 2020
I am a NOUN Masters holder... I hold a BSc degree from UNN...

Going to NOUN was a mistake for me, I would have sacrificed more and go for a conventional University...

I have been applying for lecturing jobs for more the 3 years now, to no avail. I have no other choice than to attribute it to the certificate I presented.

Just an eye opener, it seems they are just using us for revenue generation, they do not want to intervene in the stereotyping that have rendered their certificates almost useless...

The only thing the certificate is useful for is to further your studies, no big industry takes it serious.

Jobs/Vacancies / Advice On A Job Offer by TheLaughter: 4:03pm On Mar 08, 2020
Please house, I need to take an informed decision base on the contributions I get here.

I am a duty manager for a middle sized hotel, I started with them when it was still under construction as the site supervisor and when they started operation, I was made the duty manager, their environment is okay, fun and lively, but very strict and pay is 60k. But recently, I got another offer ad a duty manager too, this one is smaller than my current workplace but the pay is bigger 80k. But the environment is not lively at all but freer that my current workplace, although they say they sell very well.

I am confused, my main challenge is about job security. In my current place, I have contributed alot and I believe they can't sack me unless I do something unforgivable but this new place, in case of any shake up, I know the new people will be the first to go.

If you are in my shoes, will you stay with the current place or move to the new place?

1. Admission has not commenced but it will any moment from now.
2. M.Sc. can be as short as two semesters depending on your readiness and seriousness to take more courses in both semesters. A friend of mine did M.Sc. Information Technology in two semesters spending about 176k (project and seminar inclusive). You too can do.
NB. which of the courses do you want to study?
NOUN postgraduate students do project defence?

Some are saying there isn't, others say there is...

I have prayed on my own but I am not getting any revelation...

Now I am scared, I have asked myself what if spirituality is true and all they are saying is true?

I don't want to make any mistakes, but when it comes to compatibility, we are really compatible...

ZIMDRILL:

since they see it in spirit thats she aint the one why cant the spirit point the right one?

there is always bias, when someone choices for someone, as humans you tend to pick your personal preference, than what the person your choosing for likes.
Most relatives always like a person they think can control its either control directly or that person humbles him/her self too much that one thinks s/he is in control of that person.

There are also people who always want to be involved in every major decision of other people and place themselves to sort play major role, in every big decision one makes and if there are not part of it, they always try make your own idea a bad decision, they want you take their own advice which makes it as if it wasnt them you would be were you are etc

Back to your story why the prophency point the person and whats thats they see wrong in her
Exactly the things I asked...

Family / Is There Anything As A Destined Wife/husband. by TheLaughter: 10:30pm On Dec 31, 2019
I and my girlfriend have been dating for about some years now, we have been good. We have encountered ups and downs but we pulled through. We plan together and execute things together.

Recently, I indicated plans for marriage but my people didn't give consent. They said she isn't my destined partner. According to them, they have prayed, saw in prophesies and visions that she isn't the one...

I happen to speak with one of the prophetess on phone and she repeated what she told them that she is not my wife, that I should pray, that my wife will come.

I am finding it hard believing all these but at the same time I am mindful too. I have been asking myself questions if what they are saying is true. They said I will encounter all kinds of hardship if I continue and many other things the prophetess said.

I see her as God's creation too, why will God allow such happen to me just because I married someone He created too.

I don't believe all these prophesies but at the same time I just want to ask if there could be any truth in this destined partner stuff. Thanks

The technician I went to said I need a new compressor but my friend said I should just recharge the compressor, that since the car was packed for long, it may be the gas...

The technician said there is gas in the car anyway, I dont dont which one to take. I need advice. Thanks
