Daniel Wallace, 33, was caught by the police when he used the victim's card to buy a McDonald's meal in Walthamstow, north London. A court heard how Wallace attacked the woman in her 20s when she was walking back to her flat after a night out with friends. The 33-year-old broke into her home and drugged her with the drug GHB. She awoke the next morning naked in her bed with multiple injuries. Upon examination of her flat, the woman realised a number of valuables belonging to herself and her flatmates were missing. She reported the ordeal to the police the following day and whilst awaiting results from the forensic tests, the victim’s bank card - which was stolen during the rape – was used at McDonalds in Walthamstow. Wallace was captured at the McDonald's using the card with an unknown man and woman. Forensic tests had previously identified Wallace, who was in possession of lubricants, the drug GHB and Viagra when he was arrested. During interview, Wallace remained silent to all questions. Wallace was initially found guilty of burglary at the trial in June but he has now been sentenced to 12 years at Blackfriars Crown Court after he was found guilty of rape following a re-trial.
