There is no way a driver will damage a vehicle so bad in 3 weeks unless the car was already problematic.

I sincerely don't understand how they keep asking Ola to beg for forgiveness 😕

Don didn't even mention what happened between both of you but you have spilled the whole stuff out here.
I guess your supporters would have blamed Ola if he were to be the one to spill out this way.

My bro, a car can go berserk in one day. Overheating may be largely due to negligence and negligence of one day at that. The fans may stop working at anytime, water pump may fail anytime, water leakage may get porous from the radiator, these components can fail without notice. It's up to the driver to do routine checks on your coolant and cooling system before hitting the road. Keeping ones eyes on the dashboard also helps. Experienced drivers rarely experience overheating no matter how easily those components may fail.

Three weeks is a whole lot of time to wreck a car if it enters the wrong hands.

Boss, this no be cruise joor, he actually have concrete evidence against me, he might win the case once he takes it to court of law....

The court verdict may say, since I have paid fully for the car and he having concrete evidence against me that I breached the contract agreement after full completion of payment, and acknowledging transfer of ownership, I hereby nullify the full payment made for the car and the transfer of ownership nullify...

I feel the court may ask why didn't he raise that clause during the Hire Purchase agreement, why wait after full payment has been made...

What do I know?

The court doesn't operate and work that way. If he makes the mistake of going to court, the case will be struck out in a twinkle of an eye and he will most likely be made to pay you some fees. No judge will entertain a shoddy case like this. He's been fully paid for the car, he can't eat his cake and have it.

Concerning the plate number, it was attached to the car when the contract was signed and a part and parcel of the object of agreement, Worst still, you have been the one renewing it, making payments for it. it will only take benevolence and good will to release it back to him not under compulsion. It's well within your write to hold on to it. But you may wish to return it for the sake of peace. Legally, it's yours.

If you have to give out a car on hire purchase, remove what you deem personal, otherwise you will lose it.

Very true, unless you go to viewing centres you can hardly watch any match in Nigeria.

I dnt just understand the kind country this people have

Funny thing is,no one is bothered, everyone as made peace with the situation

Back in the days, I remember how NEPA offices were never spared whenever Nigeria is playing and they fail to provide electricity. Nigerians of nowadays are so depressed that they don't know what their right is anymore. They have been so pushed to the wall and they have chosen to remain there.

This AFCON match between Nigeria and Angola, looks like only those in Aso Rock and their families are the ones watching it since most Nigerians don't have electricity to watch. Useless country called Nigeria

Oga do join telegram, the thread will soon disappear leaving only you.
grin

The idea of setting up a telegram group is to take the life away from this thread.

Someone whos idea of how the business works was flatly rejected here, decided to pitch his tent on telegram. He's an outcast that should have been ignored long ago. It beats me how some hardcore regulars on this thread decided to join him. This is a world wide web, whether people comment here or not is no longer so important, the wealth of information here will certainly live forever, no one can kill it. Newbies can always get knowledge by reading and scraping through a few pages.

To those scrambling for help, the major determinants to success in this business, is your body, type of car, energy level, determination and how smart you are (accepting less of short trips and non beneficial trips).

All that talk about telegram strategy is a complete hogwash. That's why they are afraid of telling you amount of fuel used and hours put in, these are critical factors in this business. They are more interested in show of dashboard. Driving from Okomiko to Ikorodu and staying in traffic for more than 14hours every day of your life is not a strategy you need. Time ,experience and where you live will make you have your own strategy and what will work for you, not another man's personal blueprint.

Imagine the scenario below . . .

Let's say the owners of those transport companies want to reduce fueling costs using CNG. They take out 2 rows of seats to fit in a large tank that can at least take the vehicle to Benin (remember CNG burns faster than regular petrol) . They arrive at Benin and since there are so few CNG stations along the rest of their route they switch fuels and fire their petrol to their destination.

Coming back on their return trip, where will they see the CNG to fill their tanks that will enable them reach Benin? That big empty tank will be taking the space for at least 6 passengers with a good deal of luggage (waybill and cargo) . This means they will be running at a loss on every return trip back to the south west.

Remember it's not as if there are already many CNG stations in the south west itself. So you see it won't be a cost effective solution for them until the CNG stations have a wide spread chain across the length and breadth of the country.

Jokes apart, this your writeup is a little bit confusing. Alternating between CNG and regular petrol will spell doom for any car engine. It's not advised for any car that is regularly on the move since usage and refilling is a serious issue that can't be ignored.

You think transportation business is theory.
Transportation business only gives you 30-40 % profit from fuel consumed. Excluding other factors like wear and tear, repaires, tires, oil change, and other unforseen incidents. There's no Siana driver making 6m profit in a month. If not, some drivers should have like 1000 Siana today. Go and learn practical not theory,

This is very correct. It's never a goldmine

We complain in Nigeria about long pickup while I have requested several times where drivers will come from around my destination, yet they will be with all smiles when they arrive. Although, I always tip them whenever they come from far places.

This screenshot was taken late but see how far he is to me. I'm going on a 15 mins ride but pickup is about 13 mins.

There's no where in the world that a driver will do a 20 minute pickup if it's not going to profit him. Only a fool will do that with all smiles. Drivers over there make a lot more than here with far better condition of service. The sad part is that fuel price in Nigeria is about half of what it's being sold in Ontario but fares are worlds apart from each other.

Where in Lagos will you see map that crystal clear? You may still need to pass lots of hurdle even before reaching a street next to you. So you can't blame drivers who frown at long pickups.

You should have known better as a veteran. Una wey dey live abroad have a way of being cocky and cheeky. You all just assume you have landed in heaven the moment you get there.

Force Majeure is only applicable when natural disaster occurs in a legal agreement and it's subjective. Its interesting you are using E-hailing business as an analogy but i don't think they are the same.

Nigerian drivers always have this funny mentality that they do owners a favor. If any driver wrecks my vehicle and claims Force Majeure, Lagos won't be big enough for both of us.

Lol. Interesting. It's not only when there's natural disasters that a force majeure can be activated in a contract, fire outbreaks, accidents are all part of it. In Ehailing, If your driver is at a stop light in traffic and a truck rams into the car from behind leaving it at a near wreck, you cannot hold the driver liable . It's between you and your insurance company, that's if it has comprehensive insurance. If there's no proper insurance, you must count your loss and move on.

Some mechanical issues can even lead to it's activation. You cannot give out a lemon car and be expecting a mouthfull on a weekly basis. The onus is on the driver to activate that clause if an understanding can't be reached where different parts of a car starts to fail at the same time making it impossible for him to carry on driving.

You don watch American movie pa. Nobody go give you shishi for Lagos.
Izzou didn't ask the right question. The right question is why did you rent an illegal structure?

So where is the legal structure that you want to rent? Most of the demolished houses can't be classed as illegal structures aside those that were clearly built on drainage channels. The link I sent earlier, the house was being demolished because the state government just realized that the area needs to be used for agricultural purposes. The Lagos state government went behind to repurchase the land where the house was built from Omoniles before coming to demolish it which is more like a criminal act

As far as Lagos is concerned, no structure is completely legal. Both tenants and landlords are taking the same measure of risk, anything can happen.

The problem is the banana republic that we found ourselves where law and order is missing. Lagos happens to be the most lawless state in Nigeria.

This is really straightforward and not complicated. Even a charge and bail lawyer will get this sorted without stress.

In many jurisdictions, if a rented property is marked for demolition by the government, it is typically the landlord's responsibility to provide a refund or make alternative arrangements for the tenant.

https://punchng.com/ex-serviceman-demands-compensation-after-lagos-demolished-property/

Above is a typical example of such rascality by Lagos State government just this week. His property is being demolished. He has tenants who were rendered homeless as well as himself. In this instance, are you going to drag a homeless man seriously fighting to stay alive?

There's a thing called "force majeure" in law, no contract is void of it. When unforeseeable events occur, no one is held liable. This scenario can also apply in car rental and hire purchase agreements on Uber. A driver cannot be held liable when there's a car wreck in situations that he doesn't have control over.

Remaining months left on the tenancy agreement will be paid to the person.

This can be contested. You really do not expect a grieving landlord to do this. It's a catastrophe that affectes both parties. I don't think you can hold the landlord liable, not when he was not compensated by government.

It's a scam. They know how to collaborate with the omoniles to lure people into buying some of these properties. No issues until the building is near completion.

Approval plan or not, Lagos state will always come up with different excuses to demolish in a particular area. Best is to thread carefully. You are advised not to buy at all and don't rent houses in typically flood prone areas, it's one excuse they have used lately to demolish houses.

Tenants don't have much to lose, it's to pack your belongings and leave. Those who bear the brunt of the mindless demolition of houses in Lagos are property owners and landlords. Imagine these idiots coming to harass and ask for documents of a house that was built in the 80s.

I will never advise anyone to own any sort of landed property in this rat cubicle called Lagos, not even my worst enemy.
